I saw this reddit thread today and found it so funny. Most said great things about the Charmed Cafe with one perhaps bitter member.
I just want to say for the record I find the board here is much better than reddit. I feel like here we have a sense of each other whereas reddit is a lot of trolls... I am probably biased (haha). I don't post on the Charmed subreddit but I do lurk fairly regularly.

The Charmed reddit is a lot of bashing without nuance or real dialogue/conversation. I am not sure why they are saying the cafe is dead... I've been on this board over ten years and it's never been dead. Sure it has phases but I agree with you - dead means no activity for years. I have been on boards that truly have died and the Charmed Cafe is far from dead. |

Like you, this board would have to have activity at all for a year to be dead. Yes, we've had times when there's no posts for a day or two. But, that's about it. There's always been activity. And there's always new members joining several times throughout the year. I don't think this board will ever truly be dead. It might take Proboards shutting down for this board to die, when the boarding service itself is no more. Same. There's groups or boards where activity is dead. When I skimmed that place, all I saw was too too much arguing, downvoting peoples opinions for liking certain characters or just to troll someone. I'm so blessed we don't have such a feature here. I use the like button at this Cafe often, when I agree with someone's opinion or comment, and don't have anything else to add to their reply. It's my way of letting someone know, I've read their post and liked it. |

It's gotten better with the new active mod. I'm in that sub, and it got a new active mod. Unfortunately, Sub Mods have no control over the downvote buttons. It's part of Reddit's system. I've been downvoted out of spite even though I gave correct answers, before. I just try not to let it bother me and focus my energy on folks that don't do that. I haven't been on it, lately due to my pregnancy. I read and upvote with what I agree with and comment here and there. I'm not on my computer, a lot, these days. Been focusing on my doctor appointments lol

Actually I like that they think we're dead. I don't think we'd like a lot of them to join the Cafe, and if they did, I'd probably end up putting them on my Ignore list.
I wonder if Reddit has that function.

Actually I like that they think we're dead. I don't think we'd like a lot of them to join the Cafe, and if they did, I'd probably end up putting them on my Ignore list. I wonder if Reddit has that function. Good point! I like it being troll-free and everyone being nice to each other. There's a bunch of rude people in some of my community groups on Facebook, and this board is a very nice contrast. |
