It does make me question whether it was right to have SD and HMC act together given how close they were personally. And Also how they bought in Alyssa Milano, another star.
The chemistry between the actresses was great but I feel like it was always going to be a competition between SD and AM with their respective PR machines working against each other

The network never wanted them to star together in it. But that was more so because they didn't want Holly I think, she didn't have the star power that SD and AM had. It was Shannen who had to convince them that Holly was perfect. If they didn't, she was going to not sign on for the show, as it was Holly herself who first recommended Shannen read the Charmed pilot script and audition I think. I remember seeing a Youtube video talking about that years ago. I'll wonder if Lori DID stay over Alyssa, how differently the show would turn out. It's interesting that Alyssa was never their first choice for Phoebe. I always wonder how differently the show would be with Lori. Same if Holly never encouraged Shannen to read the Charmed script that came her way, or if the producers refused to cast Holly. We may have ended up with completely different actresses playing all three roles. |

I remember reading Holly quit after she got pregnant. I don't think any of them do it now. Certainly not Shannen given her cancer. |

Those were fun reads. 20 years and some of those scans Im surprised I had never seen them. It always makes me laugh that they are holding the BoS upside down in the promotional photo. Still weird that Lori just up and quit and 20 years later...Nada. Same with Constance. Everyone is so quiet about the show. It also would've kept Shannen as more of the main star of the show which of course Im sure Shannen wouldn't have minded lol. Had Shannen never joined? Charmed likely would've been another show. Shannen brought the show 90% of the publicity it got and the network used her to promote the show. |

I'm really glad Lori left and Alyssa joined. The trio of Shannen, Holly, and Lori just doesn't have any chemistry for me. Alyssa really brought Phoebe to life in a way that I don't think many other people could have done. She seemed to forget as time went on, but at the beginning, she seemed to truly understand Phoebe and know how to play her.

I don't see it getting the 7 million viewers it did for the pilot. I think it would have a pretty standard viewership of 5 million.
But, who knows who else they would have cast. They may have hired some other actress who could bring some publicity.

Yeah, probaly. Considering how often we hear about all these other actresses who auditioned for other parts in shows over the years, but didn't get it.
I never saw 90210 or Melrose Place or any of his other shows. But, I'd like to think Spelling would have hired someone from any of those shows. No way, they wouldn't have hired some well known face to star and lead Charmed.

She did all of those instagram live videos with Holly about Charmed and was smoking. She is also living in Mexico and I am pretty sure cigarettes are like 2$ there. |
