Since this is asking us to Critically rate the overall series. As is is Charmed a critically acclaimed series. I voted a five. No way its anywhere near a 9 or 10 for being the best produced and written series ever. I love Charmed to pieces, but it isn't that kind of show.
As Es said, half horrible, half fantastic. Somewhere in the middle. Five has my vote.

Most (not all) shows are never really 100% perfect, fleshed out, consistent, etc. That being said, I gave this show an 8. It's one of those rare shows where you pick up any episode and not be so confused on what's going on. Especially nowadays, shows like to end on cliffhangers, tied too much together, can't really watch an episode without watching some (not all) of the prior ones, first.
That being said, Charmed has that re-watchability factor to it. I don't find myself re-watching a lot of shows, the way I do with Charmed. I feel like shows should be like Charmed, where you can come into the series, at anytime and not be lost, in the storyline, since it's all about the episode rather than trying to tie up every episode, together with one giant overarching story.

Yeah, that's one thing putting me off getting into new shows these days. It WAY too serialized where every single episode HAS to be a cliffhanger. But, I guess I came from an era where I enjoy those stand-alone episodes and shows you can just get into, without feeling lost. As you said, where you can jump into any episode and not get lost with the plotlines. But I guess those who grew up with serialized/story-arc/heavy shows, Would get bored. Watching an episode that is standalone and not moving the main overarching story, will call it filler and a waste of their hour. |

5/10. Fairly enjoyable show that goes downhill halfway through. Continuity errors out the ass but it always draws you back with its overall charm.

4.7 is about right for me.
Season 1 would have been an 8.5 and the heighest for me. Season 6 would have been a 2 for my lowest.
