I had the pleasure of having wonderful conversations before I got my account in the shoutbox. Going to copy the conversations here that I managed to save.
Now my question from all these discussions to the members of the Charmed Cafe. If Leo wasn't Piper's major love interest and she never opened up a club, where would you like to have seen her character taken.
Any ideas?

Opening up her own restaurant which she worked on and nurtured that would've been her love instead of a man had Piper not got a love interest after Leo.
Gain more control over her freezing power and learn further about witchcraft and so forth.
And finally being a good aunt if it was Prue or Phoebe who had kids themselves.

I think I would have liked Piper a lot better if they hadn't matched her with someone, or at least if they did without her thinking she was destined to marry and have a daughter. I would have really liked if she was the sister who didn't show much interest in dating and was instead more focused on opening her restaurant.
I can also see her being a great aunt figure to her sisters' kids, if they have any, way more than I can see her being a good mom. She'd be a mother-like figure to them while being free from all the responsibilities of raising them so she wouldn't have as much to complain about.

Maybe Piper could treat her restaurant as her baby with that being her focus. We could see her opening up a restautant but not so quickly. It could be part of her story-arc in S2. Maybe she'd start slow opening up a good truck or catering here and there.
You mentioning that you wished they didn't have Piper believe she was destined to marry and have a daughter got made me realize something. They pulled that same card again with Phoebe after her vision quest seeing she'd have a daughter in the future too. Charmed sure had a habit of ruining surprises for what's to come when it came to the sisters future lives.
I can see Piper being a fantastic aunt. Spoiling her nieces or nephews. She'd always bake them their favorite cakes. I can see her teaching them how to cook because their own mothers can't. I think Piper's character wouldn't have a need to complain either if she was just a mother-like figure and had her own business that would be like a baby to her. Also being free of all the all the responsibilities of raising them. When her nieces and or nephews misbehaved, she just send them straight to their mothers.

I like the idea of her restaurant being like her child. She could start a catering business out of the Manor in season 2, and at some point open a small restaurant after all her hard work. That could be one of the major stories for her, that she finally achieves this dream, and the restaurant becomes a hangout spot for the family. I didn't make the connection that Phoebe also became obsessed with her future after seeing it. I really wish these stories hadn't been written. Not only did it ruin the surprise, but it tied Piper and Phoebe's futures down. They should have been free to make their own decisions without the guilt of thinking they were denying their children's existences if they went a different way. I could see all the sisters being good aunts. Piper as an aunt is interesting to me because she wouldn't be the "cool" aunt like Phoebe could be, but a gentle presence in the kids' lives that could make them feel like they had a second mom. And I love your idea about Piper teaching them to cook because everyone else is hopeless at it!

Starting out slow and then slowly building up enough of a reputation in the community for when she starts to open up her restaurant. I can see that being a fun 2-3 season storyline. Opening up a small restaurant of just a Cafe would be a good start for Piper. I like it playing naturally where Piper is working towards her dream goal. Phoebe didn't even earn her success at the Bay Mirror, it was handed to her and she got super famous fast. I agree Elle Em. It really did feel like it tied their futures down in a way that didn't let it play out naturally. I understand that most pregnancies can come as a surprise in real life. But its the influence of the future they that killed the surprise. They should be free to make their own decisions. Now if Piper never saw herself as a mother in the future, but got pregnant in the final episode, I wouldn't be so opposed. It would be a surprise to the viewers and Piper herself. That's a good point about Piper not seeing herself as the "cool" aunt the way Phoebe could be seen. But I do see Piper having that influence on them where they feel like she's a second mom to them. I've always wondered what kind of mom Prue could've been.

And I love your idea about Piper teaching them to cook because everyone else is hopeless at it! I agree with you, except calling Piper the gentle presence. For me, the word "Gentle" and "Piper" just doesn't get along - like them trying to make her the romantic. That just doesn't fit her either. I still wish she'd never been married and never had kids - as Greta said, I'd prefer P3 starting as a catering business out of the Manor and later a small restaurant with a nightclub - "The Spot" across the street as her ONLY baby. LOL @ ME! If that was the case, maybe she would've been gentle. But, no, I don't think so. She's the type that is never happy unless she has something to complain about. Even without husband or child, she'd still find something to whine about. And as I keep saying, it's why I often wish my favorite episode, 'Morality Bites' was never aired because I do believe that without that, Piper never would've had a child - ditto for Phoebe - which I would've preferred for both of them. No, I'd still want it - I love it too much not to - just leave little Melinda out of it.

Her being with Leo has nothing to do with her owning a restaurant or not. She was with somebody else, when she opened up P3.

In my post I was already asking what could've been if both Leo and a Nightclub didn't happen for her character. And that got the ball rolling with everyone's discussions.

I would've loved to see her opening Halliwell's earlier, instead of doing P3 for 6 seasons like she did. As far as love interests for Piper go, I was kind of ambivalent about Leo, with occasional bouts of not liking him and Piper together. I think I would've preferred that guy Josh from Is There a Woogy in the House.

They had the connection with food - it would've been such fun seeing him help her out with her small restaurant, P3, which would be her ONLY baby - and it would've been fun to have a Chinese costar in a city that's supposed to be San Francisco. I also think they had more chemistry than Piper did with any of the other guys, especially Leo, who like Prue and Andy seemed more like a first love than an actual soulmate the way I feel Prue and Bane and Piper and Mark were.

Piper owning a resturant and nurturing her magic and her "baby", being a good aunt if that were to happen, all sounds good. I LOVED the chemistry between Piper and Mark, but I would've been devastated to see her investing in a relationship with a ghost! She'll grow old while he floats around watching her live and breathe! That would've been sad! However, it would've been beautiful to see his father's recipes finally get used! Would've been great to have had some continuity with those!

They had amazing chemistry. It would've been sad that she'll old and he won't, but boy would Piper have been more happier with Mark in the longrun. She had much more in common with Mark than she had with Leo. She can live miserable with Leo for the rest of her life, while at least she'd be happier with Mark even if he was a ghost. Maybe he'd be able to master some ability in a way where he could become corporeal enough to touch Piper over time. I can just picture Piper using his father's recipes at P3. It also would've added to the show to have a Chinese costar, given the show is set in San Francisco. I really felt she had a wonderful connection with Mark.

I just finished a thread asking me what my favorite subplots from S1 were. Most of mine were Quake based. I can't remember anything too memorable from P3 as in actual storylines that were not based around the latest band playing. It'll be fun to imagine her opening her small restaurant, P3. I'd imagine that would be such a huge moment for her character. The sisters popping the champagne bottle when P3 opens up. Her sisters telling her how proud they are of her. Piper getting emotional. Then some motivating words from Mark. That reminds me, did we ever see P3 the nightclub open up? I don't remember the grand opening night being seen on-screen. I haven't seen some of S2 in a while. I don't remember.

I don't recall P3 being part of too many subplots at all apart from Abbey or Piper changing P3 to the Spot for an episode. It was really used more as a setting for the latest bands and performers.
I don't have any issue with a nightclub, to be honest. It just would've been better if it was a separate setting the sisters visited a few times a season, but not a permanent setting run by one of the sisters. The only time I enjoyed P3 was when the sisters danced to the Cranberries. Seeing all the sisters happy and dancing with their partners made me smile. The only time we ever saw all three with non-magical boyfriends.
That reminds me, did we ever see P3 the nightclub open up? I don't remember the grand opening night being seen on-screen. I haven't seen some of S2 in a while. I don't remember. I don't think we saw it on-screen at all sadly, Greta! Which is a real shame, its way too important for Piper's character. But the Piper/Leo drama in this one took priority when it should've been the other way round. I like your suggestion for them to toast the champagne bottle when P3 opens up. Also Mark there with motivating words if they were matched together at that point.

This is what I envisioned for Piper if Leo and P3 was excluded:
As the sister who was most turned off by Witchcraft and Magic, I could see her being the first to move out of the Manor and into a house/apartment closer to her work however also in short distance to the Manor if the Power Of Three is required, maybe into the house next door.
Occupation: Chef at Quake (season 1-2) Café Owner (season 3-6) Restaurant Owner: Halliwell's: (season 6-8)
Main Romantic Relationship: Mark (Dead Man Dating)
