Did Leaving Bucklands lead Prue to her death?

I’m rewatching charmed and I’m thinking: Did Prue leaving her job at Bucklands lead her to her death?

I’m watching morality bites and obviously Prue is still alive and is still working at Bucklands in the future. The only thing that has changed when they return back to the present timeline is that Prue has quit working at Bucklands and she dies.

Future Prue: no relationship/Employed at Bucklands.

Present Prue: No Relationship/Not employed at Bucklands and eventually leads to her early death.

If we forget about the behind the scenes drama with the actors and just focus on the story of Charmed— I think if Prue hadn’t quit her job, then she would still be alive. She became a photographer but it wouldn’t be the same hours that she would work at Bucklands and she also had her work space set up in the basement which means she would be at home more often than naught- her hours less and easier to be attacked by demons.

Bucklands would be having her out of the house for hours during the day and she wouldn’t be able to just leave on the drop of a dime to go demon hunting/innocent saving during the day and the presence of humans would keep her safer from demons showing up and attacking her.

The low down: she’s still alive in the future because she works/runs Bucklands and has no romantic relationships and In the present she quits Bucklands, has no relationships and she dies. Bucklands kept Prue grounded and when she quit she became obsessed with trying to find the triad and demons and gave her tunnel vision to a degree.


This is probably silly to some people and I agree to some degree but I think it’s interesting to how life can change so much due to one small change in your life.

I think it could have led to her death in a way, but wasn't the only part of it. Her quitting Bucklands was one way Prue started to let go of her rigidity and do something for herself instead of what was best for her family, which could have partially led to her reckless attitude of season 3. 

Although a part of me thinks that her actions of AHBL were so out of character that no amount of job switching or anything else could have predicted how stupid she acted there.

This is an interesting theory especially because as you say, she was alive in the future while working at Bucklands.

We can look at the episode "Death Takes a Halliwell" where Prue saw the shadow following the woman at the beach. This caused Prue to summon the Angel of Death - the spell she cast read "Bring Death before me before my Time". If Prue were working at Bucklands she never would have been on the beach taking photos, she would never have saw the Angel of Death then summoned him.

I think the Angel of Death appeared to Prue because she was, in fact, on his list - she passed away only 6 episodes after she saw him. I think the Angel of Death was preparing her in some way by teaching her that death is unavoidable.
