The source should have been the big bad for the majority of the show.
The connective tissue for the demons attacking the charmed ones was the source and they should have kept him. The rest of the seasons suffer because they don’t have much of a villain for the show.
Zankou, The Source & The Triad should have been the only big bads of the show and the writers should have developed them better and weave their stories into each other. Once they got rid of the source they got rid of the danger and the main reason the girls were even there for the first place. The source should have been built upon with each season as he sent Zankou to attack the girls and when that failed, he should have sent the triad to attack them and when that failed he Should have returned in the final season to try and kill them himself and they could have had an epic fight.
I would have loved to have seen that instead of having the triad and Billie and Christie— The source had already taken Prue— the fight would have been much more personal and satisfying for the fans.
What do you think?

I agree the Source was killed too early on though I much preferred the red-winged guy we saw in the season 3 finale than Mr creepy half-face we got later on who was a joke and not even scary overall.
If you are gonna introduce a storyline about the sisters having to vanquish him then do build up on it although I think the Charmed Ones shouldn't have had that destiny anyway but just been sisters who happened to be witches whom saved innocents from evil like the Triad, Source, and Zankou which they met along the way.
But if the destiny rule was set in stone to be played out no matter what then three ideas that would've interested me were first like Lucifer from Supernatural the Source was so powerful it took the greatest force of good and evil to lock him up like the Hollow which happened centuries before and had to occur again with the Charmed One's later on.
Second creepy half-face face wasn't the real Source but a ruse with Zankou being that instead so the sister's guards are down around him.
Or third the overall villain, in the end, is Lucifer himself who's the red-winged guy from season 3 in devil form explaining why the sisters defeated the Source so easily earlier on being the devil's lackey himself.

I agree, the source should have been killed later. Paige kills him on her thirteenth episode, it's so ridiculous... I especially hate that the Triad is coming back. Why not have Christy kidnapped by the council seen in the season 2 finale.

I agree about the Source. I think they had enough content in the first four seasons to make an entire show. They could have really spaced things out a lot more.
I think I'd like it more if they weren't supposed to be these all-powerful witches, but rather that they were just witches with powers who were stronger together. The entire first season of the show could be about them all living together again, slowly discovering their abilities, and realizing they could save innocents and battle evil. It would be a season of learning about magic and learning to work together.
Then in season 2 things start to pick up. This season would involve more high-stakes fights, more innocents to save, more dangerous evil, etc. They start to really become on evil's radar at this point.
Then maybe season 3 is where they start to understand just how powerful they are, and that there might be a greater purpose to their powers than what they've used them for thus far. Obviously protecting innocents is to me the most important, but if vanquishing an evil behind a lot of these attacks could stop them, then that would be the priority.
The rest of the show could be about higher and higher stakes, eventually leading to the Source being vanquished and the show lasting about six seasons.
It would also make more sense to have the Source battle take place later because assuming Prue still dies and they still find Paige at the same point in time, it gives them time to bond as sisters and be able to tap into their collective powers. We could start season 4 off with Paige and the others separately thinking they might be related, and it takes a few episodes to confirm this. Then when Paige learns about magic and understandably freaks out, it could take a few more episodes to convince her that she should stick with them. A relapse into alcohol and Piper and Phoebe helping her recover could take up the rest of season 4, solidifying their bond and setting them up as a connected team for the rest of the show.
So yeah, quite a bit could be stretched out and reorganized to give the show a more cohesive feel while not rushing into each big bad being worse than the next, making the previous one not mean anything. Their personal stories as well could not be so rushed so the characters are more realistic and have better growth.

I like your ideas Elle Em . And I agree about the Source as well which I stated also. I always thought it weird Piper, Phoebe, and Paige were able to form the Power Of Three so quickly and use that collective power when part of what made that work was the sister's bond as a family and Paige having not grown up with them that should've occurred a lot later like the end of season 4 which would've been a great time to vanquish Shax then the Source first half of season 5 before he possessed Cole of course.

I agree with everything everyone has said, although I think if they had skipped S4 and jumped straight to S7, letting Zankou be the Source (a smart Source rather than just scary), it would've been a much better show, especially if they ended with 'Something Wicca This Way Goes'.
No, if they included the first few episodes of S4 to introduce Paige, but before they showed Half-Faced, they skipped to S7 (leaving Wyatt and Chris out and substituting Cole for Drake, so the power of the Source never goes into Cole and he never becomes Stalker Cole) when Zankou was introduced, it would've been a much better series.
Hmmm, that could make for an interesting virtual series...
Besides, like S7, S4 was set up to be a final season in case fans didn't accept Paige. That's the reason why the Source was vanquished so quickly.
