Aren’t they essentially half witches? Their dad is mortal and so was their grandfather— wouldn’t the strongest good witches of all time be full blooded witches?
Paige should be the strongest in magic when you think about her lineage. Half witch and half whitelighter
Piper calling Paige ‘half breed’ always made me feel strange cos she’s half breed herself with being half witch lol.
Just an observation.
Oh, and something completely unrelated to this post but I just watched the episode where Piper & Leo get married why does Grams say that the women keep their name in this family— Halliwell mustn’t be their own name then right? Cos they were warrens so a daughter must have taken their husbands name and Halliwell also comes from a mortal- unless I am being dumb and I wouldn’t rule that out lol

I think what makes them powerful is their humanity and being raised as normal mortals who have then become witches. in their own right, choosing to be good.
What makes them even more powerful is they are the decedents of a long line of witches, that there are only 3 of them in their entire line alive and with active powers from that coven and that they have an integral bond as sisters who share the same blood.

The hybrid thing with Paige makes it so confusing, but I always saw all four sisters as full human beings with powers. We call them witches because of their abilities, but they were fully human.
If powers were constantly halved with each new generation, the sisters would barely have any magic at all, assuming Melinda was a full witch, her daughter a half witch, her granddaughter a quarter witch, and so on. I didn't see the magic diminishing with each new generation.
It also gets confusing with someone like Cole, for instance. I always assumed demons were another species, just ones that looked similar to humans, while a warlock would be fully human but with warlock powers, just like humans with witch powers like the sisters. But Cole is always called a half demon. Does that mean his DNA is 50% different from a human like Phoebe? Or is he fully human when in Cole form and fully demon when in Belthazor form?
I think part of the problem is that the show called everyone things like warlocks, demons, witches, whitelighters, et cetera, when some of those titles mean someone isn't a human and some of them are just referring to a human's abilities.
