So anyway, I just found out an interesting piece of trivia about Holly Marie Combs when she was filming Charmed: Holly used to go braless on set. Apparently, the powers that be didn't think her boobs were big enough, so they tried to force her to wear these huge, padded bras and no other kinds of bras, and she objected and didn't want to, so she'd just go bra-less on set. She apologized for it last year, but I don't care. Number 1, I never even really noticed, and number 2, I don't think it even really mattered what kind of bra she wore, or if she didn't wear one at all. She didn't seem to have an issue attracting guys (including attractive guys) wearing regular bras, so I'm pretty sure the average male viewer wouldn't have cared, either. Good for her. Anybody who would have watched the show for such a gross reason is long gone. The true fans who are still here don't care about that sort of thing and never did.
I also appreciate how she put her foot down about silly or revealing costumes for herself, and dressed more like a normal person throughout the show. The realism makes everything better.

I think it's kind of gross that they were trying to make her wear those kinds of bras in the first place, too.

She shouldn't have apologized (not even sarcastically). What she did was completely justified, wasn't even bad, and it's honestly sad and disheartening how being a woman and especially in that business, always comes with a necessary and inescapable objectification. It's a deeprooted issue with Charmed and similar shows of its era that goes beyond this statement from Holly, I truly believe there's a lot more to unpack. But I digress.
I also loved this take:
(That's exactly how I feel about Piper's character at that point too)

This is very surprising for me! I always thought she was the only one who was wearing a bra (haha).
I don't wear bras but you could tell Alyssa/Shannen often didn't wear one based on their outfits - in the words of Natalie the Whitelighter - no more strapless/backless/fearless attire.
I didn't really care either way as I am a gay person and not interested in women. I always just chalked up the looks to being very of the 90's era with halter tops, crop tops etc.
I guess because Holly dressed the most modest I assumed she wore one. Thanks for posting this!
