Somehow this never popped into my mind until today but w/the talk about other witch families and lack of Halliwell extended family on Grams side....
With Grams having a "brother" an interesting alternative the writers could've taken with introducing Paige is having Grams' brother or P.Bowens son/daughter be the one to raise Paige. Have them sacrifice their family ties to take her in so TCO can keep their "destiny"
Bind whatever powers they had to fall off the Elder radar could've been interesting.
Not only do the sisters gain a sibling but they gain an aunt/uncle they thought dead their entire lives.
Have Piper/Phoebe gain a connection with them only for The Source to kill them once they return to the land of magic.

I love the idea of Paige being raised by a relative e.g. Gram's brother or Patty's favorite aunt that got mentioned in That 70s Episode or someone connected to one of the cousins from the 20s. I always wished they expanded more on the family line.
One thing that really made no sense was having Paige being raised by a family in the same city as her sisters. Like if you're going to keep her a secret, Why on earth wasn't she sent away somewhere far? Why not just have her raised in Boston since that's where Grams was born? So the idea of another relative or even Gram's brother doing it would've been great.

I also really like this idea. It makes sense to want to keep Paige close to the family, not only to step in if one of her sisters is killed, but just because they'd want to be able to know she was okay. It fits in much better with the story if she never leaves her family to begin with, just gets raised by someone else within that family away from her sisters.
It also makes sense to have someone else around that they're related to. Their circle seemed so small. Their dad was absent, Grams had died, Andy died after only a season, and we rarely saw friends of theirs. It grounds them a bit and makes their story seem more realistic if they have a few other family members out there. Their lack of social connections makes it feel like they live in a much smaller place than a city, and that Grams purposely isolated them or something. A bit more of a network would make them seem more like real people rather than characters.
Another possibility for Paige is to be the fourth daughter of Victor and Patty, leaving Sam out entirely or just having him be a platonic relationship. In this version, Patty and Victor decide that in order to save the birthright of their older girls and to protect Paige from the life they'll one day lead, Victor raises Paige without powers and away from her sisters. This would do more to explain his absence from his older kids than him not getting along with Grams, or whatever flimsy reason they presented in the show.
