List of Episodes Where Piper Freezes + How Often
Qualifications: Anytime the show recognizes the Piper character freezing. This includes Wendigo Piper from S1E12 "The Wendigo" or Wyatt Piper from S8E1 "Still Charmed & Kicking". If Holly Marie Combs is still the stand-in for the Piper character like Terra in S3E9 "Coyote Piper" will still be counted. As long as the freezing power acts and behaves as it normally does including those "fighting through the freeze" like Jeremy from S2E1 "Witch Trial", Vinceres from S3E6 "Primrose Empath", The Aggressor from S5E5 "Witches in Tights", etc. With the exception of those completely immune to being frozen such as the Furies from S4E3 "Hell Hath No Fury" or Chris & Bianca from S6E10 "Chris-Crossed". And not including the altered freezing version like Warlock Piper in S3E13 "Bride & Gloom". No off-screen freezing either such as Piper freezing Leo in bed in S1E10 "Wicca Envy". Will make a slight exception for the already seen frozen people (but, we didn't see Piper actually do it) in S6E18 "Spin City". Hope that makes sense and enjoy!

Looks like S4 is the most balanced season for both of Piper's powers via freezing and blowing up.

Not surprised to see S5-S8 utilize the freezing power less, as flashy exploding powers became something they can do more often.

And, it still makes sense that S8 is the season to utilize the freezing power a little bit more with its budget cuts and freezing being an easy power to edit in.

I added in totals for each season, and it looks like S7 is the worst season for Piper freezes, interesting enough. BUT, S2 is actually Piper's BEST season for freezes OVER S1, so that surprised me, even though it shouldn't if you look at how many times she actually freezes throughout S2 without having the totals, before. Essentially, here's a little chart of Piper freezes from best to worst season: S2 > S1 > S3 > S4 > S8 > S6 > S5 > S7.

It goes to show how redundant Piper's first power became once she got the exploding one which then was her go-to thing instead of that and her freezing power being balanced out obviously.

The same is said when potions were used quite a lot over P03 spells which I regularly missed seeing.

I'm going to push back on this, a little bit and say S4 still manages to balance out BOTH of Piper's freezing and exploding powers. Sure, she explodes more than she freezes, in S4 but not as big of a gap we see in the S5-S8 section, of the show. I would say once we reach the S5-S8 section, of the show, is when her freezing power was underutilized the most.

I don't mind the potions, I just wished it wasn't a generic exploding potion. But, I suppose we can blame S4E13 "Charmed & Dangerous" for this because Piper's powers get taken away, and the whole episode explains how they're making a potion to replicate her exploding power. So, this explains the use of this potion more. I agree, I wish it wasn't JUST to replicate her exploding power but specified vanquishing potions for specific demons. Like the ones to vanquish the Grimlocks, in S1E19 "Out of Sight"/S3E4 "All Halliwell's Eve", the Spider-Demon (though, it didn't truly get used, but I digress) in S6E18 "Spin City", the Avatars in S7E9 "There's Something About Leo"/S7E10 "Witchness Protection"/S7E11 "Ordinary Witches"/S7E12 "Extreme Makeover: World Edition"/S7E13 "Charmageddon", etc.

The whole "PO3 Spell" concept just seems like a cop-out, most of the time instead of thinking of something else to solve the situation. Which is why I don't mind a potion solution, as long as it's not the replication of Piper's exploding power seen in S4E19 "We're off to See the Wizard", S7E19 "Freaky Phoebe", S8E21 "Kill Billie: Vol I", etc.

With these more accurate calculations in getting the best of Piper freezes, here are the season rankings for best to worst in Piper freezes:

S2 > S1 > S3 > S4 > S6 > S8 > S5 > S7

Even though, S7 has more total freezes than S5, S5 has more episodes in seeing Piper freeze, at least, once. So, S5 is over S7 because of that.

S3 & S4 were fairly neck in neck with Piper freezes which is surprising considering Piper gets a new power in late S3 and has it throughout ALL of S4, yet S4 Piper still is freezing as often as she did in S3, so something to think about. Too bad S5-S8 couldn't be on the same level as S4 in evening out Piper's freezing power with her exploding power, but I digress.
