Spells vs Potions

Only counting original episodes and NOT repeats like S3E4 "All Halliwell's Eve" nor S4E20 "Long Live the Queen". Will make exceptions for S3E19 "The Demon who Came in from the Cold" & S5E12 "Centennial Charmed" and S3E22 "All Hell Breaks Loose" & S4E1 "Charmed Again, Pt 1".  Keeping into consideration my other thread via Spells Simultaneous with Potions/Brews, I will calculate these TWICE, and you be the judge of how often they say spells vs potions. When it comes to episodes with multitudes of the same thing via a spell is said and a potion was used before or later on, the priority order is Spells > Potions (S5E14 "Sand Francisco Dreamin'" spell > Failed Potion) & Vanquishes > Non Vanquishes > Failed (S6E10 "Chris-Crossed" curing the Charmed Ones over failing to kill Bianca) > Miscellaneous.  Successes > Failures (S2E18 "Chick Flick" potion drinking > failed spell) with "PO3" being the absolute top!

Yeah, it just confused me why the potion and incantation weren't used again on Cole or Nikolas if that's what was needed to make the other work the spell and Belthazor potion otherwise the former wouldn't have worked surely unless as I mentioned once the two were used the first time they weren't needed again for whatever reason although that was never explained which would've helped then.

Very interesting how many spells got cast that were not a vanquish verses Po3 vanquish spells in the Prue era.

I'm in shock by this. I really thought the Prue era had more.

Not only do we have spells with potions/brews, there's even "PO3" spells where only one of the sisters is chanting, it's really weird. An example of this is in S2E17 "How to Make a Quilt Out of Americans" or S6E11 "Witchstock", when BOTH episodes make it VERY clear, ALL THREE of them need to be together, but I guess it can still count, as long as they're in the same couple of inches from each other, I guess. Again, weird.

Right? The Prue Era is just as guilty as using potions as much as the Paige Era.

They are but at least spells were said as well with some of them and not just vials thrown later on making those feel like actual vanquishes themselves.

That also got me about certain spells which clearly needed the P03 to say and they didn't but still worked without the other sister or sisters as because maybe like Aaeiyn said the bond between Piper, Paige, and Phoebe was strong as the first set they didn't need every voice for them to work just the girls being in the same proximity or physically touching as when they destroyed Necron in the cave.

I think they have to be really close to each other (not as a bond) but like standing really close to each other. Reason I say this is because S1E15 "Is There a Woogy, in the House?" is NOT classified as a "PO3" spell, and Phoebe was plenty high up the stairs and not really near Prue & Piper. In S2E17 "How to Make a Quilt Out of Americans", they were standing REALLY close to one another, like you see them standing close in something like S6E13 "Used Karma" (even though, ALL THREE of them are chanting, for this spell). The only time I can think of where they're NOT standing near each other for a PO3 spell vanquish is S4E9 "Muse to My Ears", but that's only because ALL THREE of them were chanting.

I never knew the Po3 wasn't that specific with it always needing to be all three chanting. But I wonder if its just they just need to be in the same spot or close proximity or holding hands. So this isn't a case of one or two of the actresses who can't be bothered chanting a spell as their character (just make Alyssa do it today). LOL

There are other PO3 spells where they're all chanting together that are NOT PO3 Vanquish spells but for non-vanquish means like in S3E3 "Once Upon a Time", where they chanted a spell to see the fairies and trolls and stuff. Not sure what's more important for the fandom, but I chose PO3 Vanquish over PO3 Not a Vanquish.

S5E14 "Sand Francisco Dreamin'" - To be put to sleep

S8E21 "Kill Billie: Vol II" - Unleashing the Hollow to be put into the Charmed Ones while unknowingly Billie & Christy doing the same thing.

This thread is so interesting. I had no idea that was the case.

Like Paige could be mute forever and it wouldn't make a difference, she just needs to hold her sisters hand and they can say the spell.

I'm re-watching S5E10 "Y Tu Mummy Tambien", and Cole says that not ALL three of the sisters need to chant together, in order for a PO3 spell to work. Though, Cole expresses they need to "touch each other", as in hand holding, as we saw back in S5E2 "A Witch's Tail, Pt 2". We have seen PO3 spells work even without them "touching each other".

But interesting that we do have some canon evidence that not all three of them need to say a PO3 spell together, in order for a PO3 spell to work LOL

Right? And, YW LOL Here's the script part of the scene I'm talking about:

Cole: Did I ever tell you, Jeric, that I have eyes for only one witch. How's the spell going?

Paige/Isis: I was just about to finish it.

Jeric: She can't expel the witch's soul without the Power of Three. How are you gonna get it for us?

Cole: Look around. We're only one sister short.

Jeric: Yes, but your love is a mummy. You can't expect her to read a spell.

Cole: Well, she doesn't have to. If her spirit is trapped inside, all her sisters have to do is touch her to tap into the power.

Jeric: And what about the third witch? I doubt she'll read the spell willingly.

Cole: Leave it to me. I can be quite persuasive.

Jeric: Yes, well, you better be. Because Isis is the only one that can bring Phoebe back. And if my love doesn't get what she wants yours will stay wrapped up forever.
