"Wyatt's Wonderland"
an original poem by Patrick
Hi all, I'm back and bring years of new life experiences with me this time. Hopefully I can get around to updating everything but here is a quick taste to give the site while I get my new bearings and clean out the closet and whatnot. xD
Anyways, I've always identified with Wyatt out of all the characters in the show and after facing real life head on, I now understand why. There is something very universal about his character, like an over-arching trope within us all, sort of like the trickster archetype but more righteous and forefront, stronger in it's affect and influence. There is a lot that we can learn from literary characters as they tell OUR story, with us being an oral tradition based species and all. Wyatt, however, never got the screen time he deserved to really deliver this message to Charmed viewers directly, so hopefully I can bridge that gap and do it justice here with this poem.
Wonderland of Mine
by Wyatt Halliwell
I wonder if you wonder....
wonder what it's like
wonder what it takes
wonder 'bout my life
If you care about another...
enough to protect
enough not to spite
enough you care so freaking much, your LIFE'S now on the line!
I wonder if you get the joke, though this is nothing funny,
But oh, why, oh do elders moan and warn of future tyranny?
Everything must be foretold, or else the world's a-crumblin',
That sounds like crap, and don't you know it....yet still, their taunts keep coming.
Clouding up my growing brain, since I was just a baby,
A grown man now, well-fed, and proud, yet still my pride is shaky!
My family name, once strong and loud, now rests on shoulders hung,
Before my birth, my parents wept, cause my eulogy's been sung.
Being feared, I fear, so I'm doomed to doom,
Being exalted, I'm exhausted. My mantle's my tomb.
My name; my own prison, and yet it sets me free,
My power brings division and still the world lay at my feet.
Everything I touch, turn to gold? Oh how I wish,
But no, everything I touch, just...becomes forever rich.
Everyone I know, may they know their tales be told,
In the ears of every little goblin, elf, fairy, and troll.
Everything I do, even if small, or if untrue,
Travels fast, amongst the mass, of both the wise and fools.
'Tis my life, and others might
Take a gander, and surmise,
Oh, what a wonder it must be
To be that chap, that twice-blessed king.
But no, oh no, don't for one second think
That you can grasp what depths you're examining
You're stuck, tucked-in tight, all snuggled and tugged,
While I'm cold, on the windy roof, clamoring!
My world is cruel, my fate is cold, my faith just on keeps and keep shattering,
Till my powers grow bold, and the old ones grow old, feet of the Underworld, constantly hammering.
They welcome their King,
The rejected, dejected,
All-powerful, and twice-LEFT son!
All alone in a world, protecting the weak, just to keep being spied and policed..... a freak.
So I freak.
And stay freaky, I sure freakin' did,
I've made my own decision now
Suddenly, all the voices are silent.
They only talk when I may move
Whether of virtue or contempt,
It's my table, and I'm the ruse
To show one's self inept.
It's my world and damn it, I choose
No, DECLARE, to be left alone this minute!
If I'm the chosen, then that's my choice
It's my wonderland, now you're stuck in it.
So now, there is no if, but
I wonder WHAT you wonder,
If this your shoe, would it then fit
If so, whose rule I'd be under?
You can't say you, so what say you
You can 't, it's juxtaposition,
What's right is wrong, and lies are true
And such is the state of my condition.
I'm the King of a land
With no King to rule,
To wander, being my one only mission.
All this said, and all it takes is one friendly admission,
Then my wonderland feel now never mentioned.
