The DVD menu layout is different than the other seasons in that when you go to the options you get more images of the characters: Fo instance you get the 4 girls on the main menu on Disc 1  If you select Audio options you get Leo  For Subtitles you get Piper in a thinking position  For Episode Selection you get Phoebe holding Wyatt's bear  (I checked disc 2 and it's the same photos but I haven't yet really delved into the other discs yet.) The other strange thing is that if you select an episode that has a cast commentary (Charmed and Still Kicking has one) option you get an additional menu that confused me at first because the selection was set to off and that's what I wanted so I didn't think to select it and couldn't figure out how to get it to play. You still have to make a selection ON or OFF before it will play. (It may be that I'm just an idiot.   Also, there is no indication that the episode has this feature- you just encounter it when you select it. Oh I just noticed that the special commentary is listed on the back of the disc case in the description of the titles. Disc 1: Charmed and Still kicking has Brad Kern, Kelley Cuoco and James Conway. Disc 2: Vaya Con Leos has Brad Kern, Brian Krause and Cameron Litvack Disc 6: Forever Charmed has Brad Kern and James Conway The Special Features look the same as the European versions Oh and the opening song has been changed just like on the other country versions. which is a bummer. Seemes like that the US version is a clone of the european version. My Reg-2 release of season 8 is the exact same.

Don't think its gonna work Anny way, the DVDs are already in print for the release and has been for a while. If they had to pull all of them out of production just to add the original theme song, it would cost a couple of millions and several thousand of already printed DVDs boxes had to be thrown in the trash. Not something that a major movie company is willing to do just because of the fans based in the US. |

Well, that's their problem. Actually, I still feel it is absolutely necessary to let CBS/Paramount know how we feel about an INFERIOR product. What I am hoping we can achieve is a revised edition with the original theme song restored that might appear as an alternative edition to the deficient one. Or, CBS/Paramount could put out a limited edition corrected version that includes - as a bonus - the unaired pilot with Lori Rom - and excludes the extras that came with the original. Fortunately, companies do make special editions and limited editions. And, they have been known to revise past product. Unless we let our feelings known now, why would they even bother to consider this. I would agree that a boycott is silly. A) We're going to buy it anyhow, deficiencies and all. B) CBS/Paramount have already sold a bunch of copies of the deficient one already. WE NEED TO SPEAK UP! |

The idea of a limited edition DVD with the unaired pilot is actually not a bad idea, i have such a sort of DVD of Friends.
It includes the pilot and the unaired last episode that also just is known as The Series Finale.
The Charmed limited edition DVD could include something simular:
Unaried Pilot with Lori Rom, Unaired The Series Finale, how the intros changed over the years and maybe music video of How Soon is Now and then finally what all the season boxes are totally missing: Gag reels.
I know that the companies also do release Special Editions of the tv series, my entire collection of Friends are special editions with specially extended episodes for DVD only.
One thing that i do hope they would do with Charmed, if there really are scenes that has not been used for the aired episodes.

Hmm, maybe something like one of these partition sites could be made for the collection of signatures by the members of the board that they really want to see these kind of releases. The partition site could be made by some one living in the US that then also could mail or personally deliver the list to the right person at CBS/Paramount.
That would be a little more easy then having a lot of people writing personal letters.

I would love to see a special editon DVD set.
That would be amazing. As hansemand said about having a music video, maybe they could have a music video with vairous footage from the seasons of Charmed, with the theme song in the backround. It would also be nice to see a re-release with the original theme song, if it can't be brought back now.

You mean like feature the characters for every season? I still think the way I worked it out would work. Why? With the Angel DVDs, they not only have featurettes for characters but also the seasons themselves where they discuss the changes in the storylines and things the characters are going through.
Actually, for season three they did things differently with Angel. They went through some of the episodes instead of being general.

I love how they take us behind the scenes and shows how each and single one thing is made...and then offcause how they kept pulling each others legs ;D The question is offcause if such behind the scenes material has been made for Charmed. |

That's a good question. I've asked about that in other posts in the DVD thread. Paramount didn't allow extras in any of the previous DVD releases. Something about it being against their policy, which is a very stupid policy. If there exists footage about behind the scenes stuff for the previous seasons, no one from the Charmed set has talked about it. All the stuff on the S8 DVD was planned and recorded for this purpose. Interviews, though I don't see any from the three stars listed in Paulc's description (which started this thread). I also thought I saw that we're not seeing the gag reel on this release and I thought we were. All this, plus the title song change has made me reconsider my Amazon.com order. using the names and email addresses Vandergraafk found, I've voiced my own displeasure with this DVD.
However, back to what you asked. Since the S8 DVD only has footage associate with S8, I'm hoping some other footage exists. The question is, who would have it? Kern, the studio, the editing crew? There has got to be, here and there, cut scenes due to time restrictions, flubs or other mistakes. Perhaps some people did some home movies backstage. If so, they probably can't share or sell them without Paramount's permission.

I am writing to you to express my deep concern over recent reports which suggest that the Region 1 DVD for Season 8 of Charmed will not feature the original music by Love Spit Love. Instead, it is reported that we too will be subject to the faux theme song that appeared on all of the other region DVDs. For fans, a note apparently has been added that alerts the consumer to the change.
This begs the question. Why were we as fans of Charmed forced to wait an additional 8 months for an inferior version of Charmed Season 8. There was already great uproar in Europe about this. We had hoped that the delay would allow CBS/Paramount to work out the legal issues that prevented usage of How Soon Is Now in the already released DVDs. That nothing apparently was done to eliminate this travesty is appalling and demands a response from CBS/Paramount.
As someone who runs a Charmed forum and who appears on the Season 8 fan disc, I would hope that our concerns will be addressed. I am also an active participant in the Charmed Cafe, a forum site whose logo and founders also appeared in the fan disc accompanying the Season 8 DVD. I have started a thread there asking our members to send e-mails to you in the hope that we can get a response to our concerns.
It may come as a surprise to CBS/Paramount, but Charmed remains a fan favorite. We still watch re-runs on TNT, even though we have the DVDs. We still buy the Simon and Schuster books and have written in to ask that these be kept in production. We probably also buy all sorts of other stuff. And, many of us would love to see a Charmed movie, Charmed Once More, or the Charmed Sons.

I think is great had the 8th season DVD region 1 in spanish because in region 4 (latinoamerica) the 5th season will be realised on January 2008, the 6th on February 2008, the 7th on agust 2008 and the 8th on september 2008. Is a lot of time!!!.

I didn't get the DVD yet....But why the heck is Billie on the frkn main menu!!!!  She was NOT a Charmed One, NOT a Halliwell, NOT part of their blood line, NOT in the Power of Three, and again if I have to repeat it a million more times NOT A CHARMED ONE, NOT even close! Not to add, the most HATED character ever on Charmed!!!! She ruined it! I hate her, I hate her, I hate her! Goshhh!! Can't anyone get this show straight?!?!? That's in the writers, the media,Kern,paramount/CBS,etc.! Don't dare put her image on the DVD box, anywhere!!! pheww...*inhale..exhale....inhale...exhale* |
