They did re-shoot a couple of scenes when you look at unaired pilot vs. Something Wicca The Way Comes.
Entire re-shot scenes includes: Phoebes home coming to Halliwell Manor and aftermath (different Phoebe) Phoebe and Pipers little morning talk outside of the house (different Phoebe) Andy's arrival at the crime scene (different Andy) The problems at Prue's workplace with old boyfriend (dunno why this was re-shot) Phoebe on the bike getting premonitions (different Phoebe) Prue's arrival at the hospital to get Phoebe (different Andy) Prue and Phoebe at the restaurant, where Prue discovers her powers (different Phoebe) The 3 sisters fighting the warlock (different Phoebe) And then of cause the ending of the episode due to the different Phoebe and Andy.
This is the re-shots i could discover. Other scenes where properly not needed to be re-shot, because neither the different Phoebe or Andy was in them. Then they just had to add a few more new shot scenes and the first episode to an entire serie was born that lead to 8 years of great entertainment and a huge fan base spread world wide.

i like this episode, but i don't understand why is not on DVD?? There are those that believe that readings and test pilots, and even outtakes and bloopers is meant to stay in the cutting room floor. And actually there is a possibility that the Studio doesn't even have the Original copy after all the cutting and editing. Not too unbelivable as all the versions of the Unaired Pilot isn't Scrubbed or of "studio quality" so it either was lifted from the Demo CEOs saw pre-production or a private Dub

The SVCD cut that is on the internet (the one i have) can be restored properly if you have "Hollywood Restoration Equipment", the kind of machines every major production company has. Its more the "we don't really want to do it" attitude that is the key issue. If they can take a 1929 Laurel & Hardy short that was highly damaged and restore this to DVD quality and add Dolby Digital sound, then they shure can restore that original pilot to DVD quality and put that on a DVD.
It could be a simple DVD release like they did with Friends. It has the pilot, the unaired final, the aired final, music video and all the different intros there has been made to Friends over the years.
The Charmed one could have: Unaired pilot, aired pilot (something wicca..episode), unaired final, aired final, music video and the different intros there has been over the 8 years. And if they ARE gag reels from the different seasons, they could be added to the extras. There is enough room on a DVD9 (8.5GB) size disk to create it. Its Paramount that nees to be talked into creating the disks, but as we know Paramount, it will never happen, since no one at that studio has the guts to do it, just look at all the other shows they have created over the years.
If Charmed had been in the hands of Warner Bros Homevideo, the chances would had been bigger for such a release.
