the following message was found inside an envelope outside of one of the offices for the San Francisco police department:
Dear Captain: My name is Darryl Morris. I have been a lieutenant for the San Francisco police department for two years, and although that’s a great feat for me, that’s not what I want to write about. The goal of this “article” of mine is to put in writing my days working with a family known as the Halliwell family. At first glance, this does not seem like your typical family. Its main core is currently made up of three sisters, but their grandmother and mother do show up from time to time to help out (which in itself is quite astounding to witness). Although I am close to all three of the Halliwell girls, I feel a bit closer to the eldest two only because I have known them longer. At the very top of the Halliwell sister food chain is the stirring story of the sister named Prue. She is the kind of girl that likes to take charge in a situation and feels the need to protect her younger sisters from the evils of this world. Sadly, she died in May 2001 as a result of an attack inside her home as she was attempting to protect a prominent doctor. The next eldest sister helped out in the attempt to save the doctor and was also very seriously wounded during the attack. “Piper” as she is known was saved from death by her husband--who ironically is also a phenomenal healer in his own right. Third on the Halliwell sister list is the fun-loving girl named Phoebe. In a way, Piper has never forgiven her younger sister due to the fact that she was not there during the attack that killed Prue…no; Phoebe was off trying to reunite herself with a former boyfriend. Last, but not least on the list is the wild chick known as Paige. She is in reality a half-sister to the others and never knew about them until she was inexplicably drawn to Prue’s funeral. It was there she met her half-sisters--Piper and Phoebe. All of these women have the same mother, but Paige came from a different father than her elder half-sister trio. If it sounds as if this is a complicated family to understand, you’re right. It gets much more complex in nature if (or when) the girls let you in on their teeny, tiny family secret. I am one of the few of the non-Halliwell clan to know of this family surprise and I will now write it out for the whole world to know. Be prepared to be stunned by what no other person has known for so long…
The Halliwell family is really a family of witches. That’s right. This family that I have been dealing with for the past six years of my life are witches. By “witches” I do not mean women that are difficult to get along with (‘cause actually, they’re rather enjoyable to be around). What I’m talking about are real supernatural witches with magical powers. Yeah, I know this is big. I’m lucky to have been able to hold it as a secret for this long, but a guy can’t last forever with this kind of information dancing around in his head. However, it does not just end with the four sisters I mentioned. One of the girls was married to a guardian angel and one of the others…yeah, that kind of angel…one of the others was at one time married to what amounts to the devil because he was the source of all evil. But he couldn’t help it because that’s the nature of being a demon. I feel I have said too much for now. But I will continue to offer up some juicy tidbits of Halliwell family fun in a short while. They can't know I am doing this or else I'm a toad.

another shorter letter the next day:
Dear Captain: I just thought it would be only right for me to go into specific details about the Halliwell witch abilities. Please understand that I’m not too hip with all this witch stuff so forgive me if I sound a bit crazy with these explanations. From what I can muster, Prue was able to move things with her mind and be in two places at once. Piper can freeze time or cause an object to explode. Phoebe can fly and see into the future and Paige can disappear then reappear in an instant. To the best of my knowledge, none of them can twist a spoon. That’s hardly in their style…too flimsy for them. I should warn you that these ladies do most of their work in their house--in particular the attic--because that’s where they are the strongest. Pay special attention to the large book they have around. That’s the place where the spells come from to vanquish the demons. Oh yeah. The demons. I wouldn’t be too surprised to find out there may be a couple of them in the police force at this very minute. Hey, it wouldn’t be the first time. Heck, I had a partner a few years ago that was killed by one. I can be pretty certain that if you wish to defeat these women, make absolutely positive that they are not able to call for a man named Leo. He is able to heal them if needed. While you’re at it, you might as well separate the two eldest from the youngest. That way you can guarantee that the eldest two stay right where they are and don’t go anywhere. More to come later. But if you decide to invade their home, please don’t tell them I'm responsible!

The following discussion was overheard in the Captain's office shortly after the second letter was sent:
Cap: I wanted to see you before we went any further with the investigation. DM: What investigation, sir? Cap: The investigation involving the Halliwell sisters. (at this point, Darryl’s ears perk up and he begins to pay close attention) Cap: We found your information about them to be very interesting to say the least! DM: What information would that be? Cap: Don’t pretend you don’t know, lieutenant. The information about their “secret” you’ve been hiding. (the Captain hands over the two messages to Darryl, and he reads them to himself. With each word, his face gets more of a worried look) DM: I don’t have any idea what this is about. I did not write these. Cap: Well, I can only assume that you are half right. The messages are typed, so we don’t know who is responsible. However, your facial expression tells me the info in the letters is correct. DM: Just give me a day to discuss this with the sisters before you do anything.
[so darryl claims he has no clue what the letters are about. this is getting very strange.]

without hesitation, Darryl finds himself once again in the famed house on Prescott street. rather nervously, he pulls the first note from his pocket and hands it to the sisters DM: "These are copies. the real ones are with the Captain in his office". none of the sisters says a word, but each has a shocked look on her face. Piper stares at darryl and he offers up his feeble voice DM: "I swear I did not write these". the tone of the voice was that of a man more interested in protecting his body than his character. he knows what these ladies can do if they want to! DM: "Here's the next note" The paper passes from one sister to the other until Phoebe gets it and gets a mega-premonition Phoebe: "Well, Darryl, I got some good news! I just saw who wrote this note and it wasn't you...but you might wanna talk to your wife--she wrote this one. DM: Sheila? are you sure? Phoebe: That's what I saw. (You see! Darryl is innocent since he did not write the letters. now we have to deal with Sheila. What's up with her? ?)

We jump ahead to 9 o’clock the next morning, and in accordance with Darryl’s request, the police will not begin their investigation for nine hours. But things are about to get less clear for Phoebe as she begins to read her current batch of “Dear Phoebe” letters. One of the letters she picks up does not induce a premonition, but does distort the case a bit more. It reads: “Dear Phoebe, Last night, you should have had your premonition about Darryl’s wife writing the letter to expose you as a witch. Yeah, I know of that vision. Believe me, it took a lot of effort to get enough psychic energy on that paper for you to get that vision, and I think I deserve some credit for succeeding in that aspect of the plan. But praise is not what I am after. My goal is to destroy not only your emotional life, but your physical one as well. In case you haven’t figured it out yet, Sheila is not the one responsible for those notes…I am. The vision you had was me in Sheila’s form (I think that’s brilliant, don’t you?). I think by the time you discover my identity, the Charmed Ones will have been finally beaten. But don’t worry, ‘cause I know from personal experience being vanquished doesn’t hurt very much. I have already lost to you once, and I think it’s about time for some payback! I must say, it was foolish of me to try to defeat you from the inside. I needed time to rethink my strategy, and that’s when I chose to come at you from the outside with people you trust…completely out of the magical realm.”
Later that day during lunch break, Pheebs finds herself with her sisters, and each of them are mulling over the contents of that one specific letter. Piper: “Well, we’ve beaten this…person already, so it could be any number of demons”
Phoebe: “Remember the Shape-shifters…Hans, Fritz, Lucinda…” Paige: “Nope. I don’t recall them”
Piper: “They were waaaay before you”
Paige: “Why does it have to be before me? Cole made himself look like Sam…er, my dad. Did ya ever stop to think it could be Cole?”
Phoebe: “Okay” she says with a hurried look on her face, “ I would just like to say the key phrase in this note is that we’ve beaten this person once before. Does that mean only once or one time out of many?”
The sisters look at each other knowing full well that any of their ideas could be the right one. We now fade out of the room with the magical sister trio and find ourselves in what appears to be a dark chamber where several beings are sitting around a table with big smirks on their faces. One of the demons gets up from his chair, looks at his watch, and offers up the obligatory “tick-tock, tick-tock” sound with a huge grin on his face. Staring at the wall with the image of the sisters, he says, “It’s not as good as killing them physically, but if you kill their secret, you kill their reason for living--and that’s just as good”
Another demon approaches the wall, “and we didn’t have to do anything. We just let the mortals do it for us”
With just six hours left, the demons smirks get bigger and bigger.

As the city by the bay enters the 4pm hour, nobody could tell Phoebe was just two hours away from her life being ruined. She is currently in her office handing several letters to her assistant to be places in the next “Dear Phoebe” column. As soon as the assistant exit’s the room, Pheebs begins to pack up and head home. However, she is stopped in her tracks by the appearance of a person shimmering into the office and sitting on the small sofa in the office. It takes a while for the Halliwell sister to sort out this new thing, but she finally does and gets shocked, confused, and angry all at the same time. Phoebe stares at this person and offers up a “What…what are you doing here? Didn’t we get you already?”
The person responds, “Yes you did. But that was then and this is now. And as for now, I am not going to let evil win in such a lame way. I am here to help you with your…shall we say problem”
Bit by bit, Phoebe begins to lose all of her emotions except confusion. She looks at the person and barely utters, “Why are you so willing to help us?”
The person looks at the small clock hanging on the wall, “We don’t have much time. Hold my hand and we’ll head back to your house”
Reluctantly, Phoebe agrees to this and within a second, she finds herself home again. Paige can be seen sitting on a chair in the kitchen, and as she comes into the main room she sees Phoebe with this being. The newcomer looks at Paige with a confused look “I don’t believe we’ve met before”
Before Paige can answer anything, Piper comes from the attic area with yet another helpful demon. Phoebe’s demon sees Piper coming down the stairs and smiles a bit saying, “Good you’re here. Now we can start”
Paige shouts out in a rather loud voice “Who are you people?”
Phoebe’s demon tells her to relax and then says, “I might ask the same of you”
She looks rather upset at this whole thing as she states her name, “I’m Paige”
Phoebe’s demon looks a tad perplexed, “And you are…?”
Phoebe calmly informs her demon of the fact that Paige is one of the sisters. The demon is not too sure about this new girl, but since Phoebe said it’s okay, he begins to explain what needs to be done. He barely can get a word out before Paige blurts out the same question she has had for the past few minutes, “Who are you two demons and why are you helping us? Shouldn’t you be like having a party ‘down there’ watching this whole thing?”
The demon stands up and offers Paige what she wants to know. In a calm manner he states his name, “I’m sorry. My name is Kaz and Piper is with Loma. If that’s too hard to remember, you can call us by the name we went by before…I’m Rex Buckland and this is my lovely and evil partner, Hannah Webster. And yes, we're here to help"

The grandfather clock that stands in the Halliwell Manor is known almost as much for being destroyed on a weekly basis as it is for the home where you’ll find it. Right now, as the clock chimes in and lets everybody know the time of 5:45 pm, we know it is a mere 15 minutes for the sisters to possibly lose their lives in more ways than one. However, the three witches and two demons have devised a plan to thwart that from happening…if Paige can figure it out in time. Rex sounds very frustrated as he goes over the plan again for Paige. Once again he explains the strategy to the youngest sister. “Look Paige, it’s quite simple. The officer that comes in here most likely will be the one ‘possessed’ with the demonic spirit. Once he enters the home, either Hannah or myself will overtake his body and force out the demon. Once the demon is expunged from the host body, that’s when you sisters do your part and throw yonder potion to vanquish him. After that, we will exit his body and leave him unconscious for a few minutes until we disappear as well. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised when you discover the identity of the demon responsible for this plan”
Paige looked stunned at that last remark, “what? You know who’s behind this? So why not tell us now?”
Hannah chimed in, “I think it’s much more enjoyable when you see the face of the one that almost brought you down to defeat. I think it’s quite charming myself”
A suspicious look was now etched onto Paige’s face “It’s Cole isn’t it?” she muttered. Rex and Hannah looked quite baffled by that response and turned to the elder sisters for some clarification. Piper yelled in from the kitchen, “She’s taking about Balthazor”
Rex laughed at that possibility. “Goodness no! Balthazor would never risk his life for such a trivial matter such as this. He has too much going for him now. You can’t just go off on some risky whim like this when you’re so close to overtaking the underworld. With so many demons on his side (including us) The Source is in real trouble of being overthrown”
Yeah, it’s safe to say that last remark perked up Phoebe’s ears like a desert fox. However, as time continued to slip away, she was more concerned with her own life and not the life of…well, let’s just say somebody else. Not long after that Rex retort, the huge grandfather clock began its six o’clock chime and things are about to get real tricky in the famed Halliwell home.

As the final chime sounded, the first (and only) officer entered the hallowed halls of the Manor. Before he could say anything, the spirit of Rex overtook her from behind. Immediately, the original invader was dispelled from the officer’s body and the girls wasted no time in tossing their potions at the expelled being. However, Piper saw something that did not look right, so she froze the potions while the “jars” were still in flight. At once, the three sisters glanced at the person responsible for ruining their lives. Nobody had a bigger shocked look on her face than did Paige because the person that almost brought the sisters down was none other than her own biological father, Samuel Wilder. Before Piper had a chance to unfreeze the potion jars, Sam looked at the girls and quickly uttered, “I had to do this. Unfortunately, I failed at it now, but I will be back when you least expect it” He then shimmered out leaving the girls safe but in complete amazement. Could Sam be working for the dark side now? Was that even Sam to begin with? How much could he tell the head of all evil? There were so many questions going through the minds of the girls, yet they did not have time for that now. Within a few seconds of Sam’s disappearance, Rex zipped out of the officer’s body, leaving her barely awake on the floor. His comment of “Were you surprised” left the girls all chanting a big “YES” but as Rex and Hannah got together to shimmer out, Hannah was heard to say, “We helped you once, but the next time you’ll be on your own”
No more than five seconds after the demon duo shipped out, Darryl came into the home asking if there was anything he could do. The sisters shook their heads as if to say “no” and Darryl looked down at the body of his co-worker on the floor. He crouched over to see if she was okay while looking up at the girls, “It’s Officer Rebecca Jacobs. New to the force. Only with us for a few weeks. Will she be okay?”
Piper assured Darryl that Becky will be fine, but it will take a while for that to happen. Darryl looked up with a big sigh of relief, “Thank Heaven for that”
He then grabbed her shoulder while she was still knocked out, and he--Darryl himself--transformed into a dark cloud-like orb and flew out of the still opened door of the Manor. From outside of the famed home, Paige can be heard to meekly say, Dad and Darryl are evil and demons help us. Whom can we trust now”? Her sisters both replied in unison, “Nobody I Guess”

We find ourselves in the underworld within the Chamber of the newly crowned Source. Rebecca grins as the Source stares at her with a menacing look. "At least the girls believe Darryl is a bad guy" she says rather coyly. The Source responds in hurry "It's not good enough. They're still alive and that is not what I had in mind" Darryl can be seen in the corner of the room in a heap. He has been knocked out and is just now coming around and getting his bearings on where he is... How will he respond and what will he do to escape?
