FADE IN: BUCKLAND AUCTION HOUSE. THIS IS A FLASHBACK TO THE CLIMAX SCENE IN WICCA ENVY....
Rex Buckland stands smiling. The Halliwell sisters stand before him, powerless and helpless. In his hands, Rex holds a lantern that contains the Halliwell's powers, that he had manipulated them into giving up. Still he is not satisfied.
Rex: It all feels a little anti-climactic, don't you think? Too easy almost. Feels as if we need a more satisfying ending. With those words, a black panther, a transformed Hannah Webster, comes out of Rex's office and advances towards the Halliwells. Rex stands back, waiting for Hannah to tear the Halliwells limb from limb.
CUT TO HALLIWELL MANOR, THE ATTIC....
Leo quickly enters the attic and approaches the blank Book Of Shadows. His hands glow with a bright white light. Suddenly, all the spells reappear in the Book.
CUT TO BUCKLAND AUCTION HOUSE, SAME LOCATION AS BEFORE....
Just as Hannah is about to pounce on the Charmed Ones, something happens. The Halliwell's powers, which were trapped in the lantern, seem to flow out of it.
Rex: Seeing something has gone wrong. No. He looks up and urges Hannah to finish the job. Hannah, now! Quickly!
The black panther charges forward, leaps towards the Halliwells, and then freezes as Piper raises her hands.
Phoebe: Astonished. Wait! We have our powers back?
Piper: Baffled. How?
Prue: Taking charge of the situation. Doesn't matter. Get out of here, fast!
The Halliwells move to safety and then Prue uses her power to move the frozen Rex right into the path of the oncoming panther. When time unfreezes, Hannah pounces upon Rex and before she realizes what has happened, she severely injures him. Suddenly, Hannah morphs back into her human form and looks down on the prone Rex.
Hannah: Rex, no! She looks at the Halliwells. What have you done? Suddenly, flames seem to consume Hannah and Rex. Hannah: Her fear of punishment taking over. But it wasn't my fault. I didn't fail, he did! She indicates Rex. No! Please, no! As the horrified Halliwells look on, Hannah and Rex vanish into the flames.
Piper: What the hell was that?
Phoebe: I think you just answered your own question.
Prue: Looks at her watch. Okay, we got to get me back to jail now. Let's go. The Halliwells quickly leave.
CUT TO THE SOURCE'S THRONE ROOM, THE UNDERWORLD....
The cowled figure of the Source stands and watches as Rex and Hannah appear in front of him. He is clearly not pleased.
The Source: So, you have failed me!
Rex: Opens his eyes and sits up. What? What happened?
The Source: That is what I want to know!
Rex: Realizing where he is and quickly gets to his feet. Master!
The Source: Well? What went wrong? I asked you to procure the powers of the Charmed Ones for me, and you come back empty handed.
Hannah: But we didn't fail. We had their powers!
The Source: But you don't now! So once again I ask, WHAT HAPPENED??
Rex: Trembling with fear. I don't know! I swear I don't know! The powers.... The powers....
The Source: Bah! I have no further use for fools like you. Perhaps two thousand years in my dungeon will give you the time to think of your failure! The Source gestures and two Demon guards appear, grab Rex and Hannah, and begin to drag them away.
Rex: Master, please! I beg you! Give us another chance! I know we can get the powers!
The Source: It is too late. You had your chance and you blew it! You will begin your sentence in my dungeon now and will remain there for as long as I am alive! As the Source looks on, the still protesting Rex and Hannah are dragged out.
TRANSITION FADE TO THE SOURCE'S THRONE ROOM, PRESENT DAY....
The place is completely trashed, as a result of the chaos now consuming the Underworld, as a result of the Charmed Ones destroying the Source and his Council. Suddenly, two figures enter the room, we zoom in on them and see that is it Rex and Hannah. Rex is gesturing around the room to Hannah.
Rex: Look at this, the Source has brought the Underworld to complete and utter ruin.
Hannah: Nodding her head in agreement. True, Rex, but at least the ensuing chaos allowed us to escape from the Source's dungeon. Four years there was long enough.
Rex: Well, considering that our sentence was supposed to be two thousand years, I'd say you're absolutely right. We were supposed to stay there as long as he was alive. Now that he's dead.... He continues to look around the room.
Hannah: So what do we do now, Rex?
Rex: Same thing we did before, Hannah. Go after the Charmed Ones and try to procure their powers. After all, now that the Source is destroyed, someone has to fill the power vacuum. He walks over and places his hands on her cheeks. And that someone may as well be us.
OPENING THEME PLAYS, THEN FADE TO COMMERCIALS.
SHOW RESUMES, FADE IN: P3....
It is a busy night, and people are sitting at tables and the bar. The song "Pet Sematary", by The Ramones, is playing in the background. We zoom in on a corner table and see that Piper, Phoebe, and Paige are sitting there, talking.
Piper: So, Pheebs, how are things going with the advice column?
Phoebe: Rolling her eyes. Okay, unless you count the fact that Elise is always breathing down my shoulder. I've been working for that woman for a couple of months now, you think she would know that I would get my columns in on time.
Paige: And we thought vanquishing the Source was hard! All three girls laugh at this.
Piper: Ohhhhh! She pats her stomach. Guess the baby is reminding me that she's there.
Paige: She? How do you know it won't be a he?
Piper: Well I don't know for sure. But when we went to that alternate future a few years back, I had a daughter, not a son.
Phoebe: Don't forget, Piper, that what we saw in that future was not written in stone. In that future, Prue owned Buckland Auction House. A sad look comes across her face. Obviously, that will not happen now.
Piper: Well if it's a girl, we know that she will inherit some of our powers, like all the Halliwell girls before her.
Paige: True, but who's to say that a boy won't have powers as well. Your child will be half white lighter. She points to herself. Like yours truly.
The girls resume their conversation, and soon Leo arrives on the scene.
Leo: Hi everyone, did I miss anything?
Piper: Smiling at him. No, Leo, we were just talking about the baby. We're wondering just what powers she, or he, will have.
Leo: Well if I were to hazzard a guess, I would say that the baby will have powers similar to Paige's.
Phoebe: You may be right, Leo. I guess we'll have to wait and see. So what's the news with the Elders.
Leo: Nothing much. Things have been pretty quiet since the three of you vanquished the Source and the Demon Council.
Phoebe: Yeah.... A look of bafflement comes over her face.
Piper: Thinking about Cole again, Pheebs?
Phoebe: Yeah, I am. I'm still wondering just what he has become now. It's clear that he acquired some new powers while he was in the Wasteland. I can't help but wonder what affect those powers will have on him.
Paige: Well one thing is clear, Phoebe. He still loves you.
Phoebe: I know, and in my heart, I still love him. But I wonder.... She drifts off, lost in though again.
Piper: Seeing that Phoebe is getting depressed and wanting to cheer her up. Say, why don't I whip us up some hamburgers and french fries. Let's stuff ourselves silly.
Phoebe: Smiling. Well, Piper, normally I don't eat meat, but what the heck! You always know how to cheer me up. Piper: Part of being a sister, Pheebs. They all smile at this.
CUT TO A SMALL APARTMENT IN PALO ALTO....

The door to the apartment opens and Rex and Hannah are shown in, followed by the landlord.
Landlord: Here it is, Mr.... He realizes he doesn't know their names.
Rex: Williams, Charles Williams. Rex says as he thinks of names he knows well. He indicates Hannah. This is my wife, Abigail. These assumed names mean more than anyone realizes.
Landlord: Pleased to meet you both. Like I said, this is it. Two bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, living room. All the basic comforts.
Hannah: It's perfect.
Rex: We'll take it.
Landlord: Okay. He produces the lease. If you'll just sign here, Mr. Williams. Rex signs the lease. Congratulations, you've just rented yourself an apartment. The landlord makes some small talk and then shows himself out.
Hannah: Looking around the apartment. Well at least we have a base now. However, it's a little bare.
Rex: Don't worry, Hannah, I'm already on top of that problem. As you know, when we were last on Earth, we stored money in various accounts, all under different names. That money should still be there. It will be more than enough to buy us some furniture.
Hannah: You know, Rex, it's funny, but somehow I feel comfortable living like a normal human again.
Rex: Puzzled look comes over his face. I feel the same way, Hannah. I don't quite understand it. However, we have a mission to plan. The first thing we need to do, after we get our furniture, is find out all we can about the Halliwells. Who knows what could have happened in the last four years. We must prepare for all eventualities.
TRANSITION FADE TO HALLIWELL MANOR, SEVERAL WEEKS LATER....
It is breakfast time, Piper and Leo are sitting at the table, when Paige walks in.
Paige: Good morning! She sits down, opposite Piper, and begins to fill her plate. Waffles and pancakes! My favourite. Going to get busy at work this week. Piper: What do you mean?
Paige: Well Mr. Cowan is going to be out of town all week. That means the workload will be dumped on us assistants. She shrugs her shoulders. Isn't life wonderful. Paige sees Phoebe walk in. Good morning, Phoebe. Pull up a chair.
Phoebe: Thanks, boy I am really starved. Phoebe sits down next to Piper. Like Paige before her, Phoebe begins to fill her plate with food. Leo: I like this.
Paige: Like what?
Leo: All this normal routine. It's nice that I don't have to constantly worry about the three of you anymore.
Piper: Also we can focus on other things. She pats her stomach and smiles at Leo.
Phoebe: The calm before the storm.
Paige: What do you mean?
Phoebe: Smiling. I mean in less than a year, we'll have the treat of being awakened at 3:00 in the morning by a crying, hungry baby! I can hardly wait.
Piper: Punching Phoebe playfully in the arm. Oh, Pheebs! You're terrible!

CUT TO REX AND HANNAH'S APARTMENT....
The apartment is well furnished now, and Rex has converted one of the two bedrooms into a study, where he has gathered files and notes. As we join the scene, Hannah enters the study.
Hannah: I found something that might interest you. Apparently the rumours we heard were true. She hands Rex a newspaper clipping with Prue's obituary on it.
Rex: Studies the clipping for a few minutes. So it's true then. Prue Halliwell is among the deceased. Very interesting.
Hannah: But it doesn't make sense, Rex. This article says that Prue died a year ago, yet the Charmed Ones recently vanquished the Source. How can that be? Only the Power Of Three could do something like that.
Rex: Nodding his head in agreement. I know, Hannah. However, I think I can find someone to answer that question for us. Follow me.
Rex and Hannah leave the study and return to the living room.
Rex: This is better. He produces a piece of paper. Read this spell with me, Hannah.
The two of them read the spell. After they are done, a mist appears in the center of the living room. When the mist clears up, the Oracle is standing there.
Rex: Welcome back, Oracle.
Oracle: Confused look on her face. You summoned me back from the Wasteland. How could you do that, you are a mere Warlock.
Rex: Let's just say that things have changed a great deal since you been gone. The Source and the Demon Council are no more.
Oracle: Begins to smile. If that's true, then I am free!
Rex: Yes, you are. However, in return for us bringing you out of the Wasteland, I request just one favour of you. Tell me how the Charmed Ones can still be the Power Of Three, even though one of them is dead now.
Oracle: There was another sister, a fourth one. She was the child of Patty Halliwell and her white lighter lover.
As the Oracle says this, a crystal ball appears in front of her. As Rex and Hannah look on, we see details of Paige's life displayed on the crystal ball.
Hannah: What!? We didn't know about this fourth sister!
Oracle: Neither did the Charmed Ones. They only found out a year ago, after the death of the eldest one. The fourth sister is called Paige Matthews, the family name of the adoptive parents who raised her. She has the powers of a white lighter, so be wary of her. The images stop.
Rex: Interesting.
Oracle: I should also warn you that the powers of Piper and Phoebe Halliwell have increased in strength as well. Piper can use her powers to accelerate the molecules of whomever or whatever she directs them at.
Hannah: Which would cause the object in question to blow up.
Oracle: Correct. Finally, Phoebe Halliwell now has the power of levitation. Those are the obstacles you will face if you challenge the Charmed Ones. Suddenly, the crystal ball comes to life again. The Oracle studies it. Well, this is interesting.
Hannah: What is it?
Oracle: It seems that Piper Halliwell is with child now. She and her white lighter husband are soon to be parents. The crystal ball disappears.
Hannah: Smiling evilly. We must congratulate her.
Rex: Thank you, Oracle. You may go now.
Oracle: Begins to fade away. Well now I have dimensions to explore, new realities to discover. Use the information I gave you wisely. She vanishes.
Hannah: A fourth Halliwell sister! And Piper with child! She shakes her head in disbelief.
Rex: Places a hand on her shoulder. I know, Hannah. However, when it comes to the Halliwell family, it seems you must learn to live with the unexpected.
FADE TO COMMERCIALS
SHOW RESUMES, FADE IN: PHOEBE'S OFFICE AT THE NEWSPAPER....
Phoebe is busy working on her computer, when the door opens and Phoebe's boss, Elise, comes in.
Elise: Phoebe, I need to discuss this column with you. She puts the column in question on Phoebe's desk.
Phoebe: Reads the column. Well it looks okay to me.
Elise: Phoebe, it's too harsh! You're telling a woman to leave her husband of ten years!
Phoebe: Elise, the guy is a creep! He cheats on her all the time. What am I supposed to tell her?
Elise: I don't know. Maybe they can go in for counseling.
Phoebe: Rolls her eyes. Elise, they tried that. It didn't work. Look, when you hired me, I told you that I was going to write it as I saw it. I'm sorry that my style doesn't fit into your perfect paper. Phoebe is getting angry.
Elise: Okay, okay. I'm sorry. It's just that when the complaint letters start coming, I know to whom I will direct them too. With that, Elise leaves the office.
Phoebe: Muttering to herself. I should have vapourized her when I had the chance! She is remembering her brief reign as Queen of the Underworld, when she could throw fire balls.
Suddenly, a familiar voice is heard.
Cole's voice: I could believe you would do it.
Phoebe: Startled. Cole? Where are you? She looks around the office, but cannot see him.
Cole: Here I am. He appears in front of her desk.
Phoebe: Are you crazy? What if someone saw you! She gets up and closes her office door.
Cole: I'm sorry, Phoebe, but I just wanted to see you again. I miss you.
Phoebe: I miss you too. Her voice becomes soft. Where have you been?
Cole: Oh here, there, everywhere. I have all of reality and beyond to play with now. But no matter where I go, the place I most want to be is where you are.
Phoebe: Cole, that's so sweet.
Cole: I was hoping that we could start again, Phoebe. You and me.
Phoebe: I don't know, Cole. Every time we've tried to get together, something has gone wrong. I don't know if I want to risk it again.
Cole: But the Source is gone now, and the Demons are too busy killing each other to bother with you. It's safe now.
Phoebe: Is it? Sooner or later, there will be another Source. Or something else will come along. Cole, when it seemed you were dead, I was devastated. What made it worse was that I played a part in killing you. Tears begin to form in her eyes. I don't think I can go through that again, Cole. It's too much!
Cole: But....
Phoebe: What I mean is that I can't bear the thought of losing you again. It's too painful.
Cole: So what do we do?
Phoebe: I need time, Cole. I need time to sort out my feelings, to find myself again. Can you understand that?
Cole: Yes, I can. Okay, Phoebe, I will give you the time you need. Just remember that I will always be with you in spirit. I love you. He fades away.
Phoebe: Wiping the tears from her eyes. Okay, girl, pull yourself together. You have an advice column to write. She pauses and considers. Although maybe I should write a column for myself. What is a girl supposed to do when her husband is travelling on different planes of reality.

TRANSITION FADE TO P3, THAT EVENING....
The three Halliwell sisters are once again sitting in their booth, talking.
Phoebe: Cole showed up in my office today.
Piper and Paige: Very interested. Really?
Phoebe: Yeah, he wants to get back together with me.
Piper: What did you say to him?
Phoebe: I told him I needed time to think about. I don't know what I am going to do about this.
Piper: Well it's very clear that Cole loves you, Phoebe.
Phoebe: Nods her head in agreement. And I love him. However, I don't know if I want to take the chance of getting together with him again. The last time things didn't work out quite as well as I had hoped.
Paige: Phoebe, he was possessed by the Source. He wasn't responsible for what happened.
Phoebe: True, but what is he now? What kind of powers has he acquired? Will they corrupt him? I have so many questions, and no answers.
Piper: Puts a supporting hand on Phoebe's shoulder. Well, Pheebs, whatever you decide, you know that Paige and I will back you up 100%.
Phoebe: I know, but I am still worried. When we vanquished him, I thought I would die too. Now he's back, and I'm happy, but still I wonder just if we are meant to be.
Piper: Are you thinking of breaking up with him?
Phoebe: Divorcing him you mean. I don't know, Piper, I just don't know.
Piper: Well, Pheebs, this is something you need to figure out on your own. Paige and I will help you as best we can, but the final decision must be yours.
Phoebe: I know. She gets up. I'm going to get myself another drink. She heads for the bar.
Paige: Watches Phoebe go. You think she'll be okay?
Piper: I think so, Paige. Phoebe just needs some time to think things over. I'm sure she'll reach the right decision.
TRANSITION FADE TO POLICE STATION, THE NEXT DAY....
Daryl Morris is sitting at his desk, going through some reports, when Captain Hawkins walks up to him.
Daryl: Captain, what can I do for you?
Hawkins: Actually, Morris, there is something that's come up that may interest you. Last night, a small downtown shop was robbed. Hawkins pauses and then says. This shop specialized in occult items, such as Wiccan and other pagan artifacts. It becomes clear that Hawkins is uncomfortable talking about this.
Daryl: I see, but what does this have to do with me.
Hawkins: Surveillance tapes caught the robbery. I think may tie into one of the unsolved cases you and Trudeau investigated in 1999.
Daryl: Interested. Really? Can I see the tapes?
Hawkins: I've already got them set up in my office. Let's go.
Hawkins leads Daryl into his office, where a TV and VCR are set up. He starts the tape and soon they are watching the robbery in progress. Daryl gapes in astonishment as he sees the robbers are none other than Rex and Hannah.
Daryl: My, God! I never thought I'd see them again.
Hawkins: Produces a file and lays it on his desk. This happened before I was transferred to his precinct, so I took the liberty of pulling the file on the Buckland case from Records. It includes Officer Trudeau's report on the incident. He said that Rex Buckland and his assistant, Hannah Webster, bilked an auction house out of millions of dollars and then tried to frame an employee for murder.
Daryl: Yeah, they tried to frame Prue Halliwell for a murder she didn't commit.
Hawkins: Nods his head and then continues. The report goes on to say that Trudeau managed to uncovered their motives. However, before you and he could make an arrest, Buckland and Webster disappeared. The case remains unsolved to this day.
Daryl: That's right. We've had no new leads, until now that is.
Hawkins: Pushes the file towards Daryl. Well, Morris, here's your chance to finally close this case. Good luck.
Daryl: Takes the file. I'll do my best, sir.
CUT TO P3....
Piper is going through the inventory, when the phone rings.
Piper: Answers the phone. P3.
Daryl's voice: Hi, Piper, it's Daryl. I hope I haven't caught you at a bad time, but I'm afraid something's come up. Something to do with magic.
Piper: I see. How can we help?
Daryl's voice: I want to meet you and your sisters at the Manor tonight. I think you may find what I have to say very interesting.
Piper: Okay, Daryl, we'll be there.
Daryl's voice: Thanks, Piper. I'll see you tonight. TRANSITION FADE TO HALLIWELL MANOR, THAT EVENING....
The three Halliwell sisters are in the living room, waiting.
Phoebe: I wonder what Daryl's big news is.
Paige: I don't know, but it must be big. Daryl wouldn't call us all together in the evening unless it was important.
The doorbell rings.
Piper: I guess we're about to find out. She goes and answers the door. Soon she returns to the living room with Daryl.
Phoebe: Hi Daryl, what's the story?
Daryl: There was a robbery at a Wiccan store last night. That alone would make me think to call the three of you, however, it's the people that did the robbery that convinced me to come to you.
Piper: Well don't keep us in suspense, Daryl. Who are these mysterious robbers?
Daryl: Takes a deep breath. Rex and Hannah. Silence falls as Piper and Phoebe absorb the news.
Paige: Puzzled look on her face. Who are Rex and Hannah?
Piper: Sorry, Paige, of course you wouldn't know about them. Rex and Hannah were a couple of Warlocks we tangled with back in late 1998 and early 1999. This happened shortly after we received our powers. Anyway, it all started when....
Piper recounts the encounters with Rex and Hannah by the Halliwell sisters. As she does this, perhaps we see flashback sequences, showing scenes from "Wicca Envy".
Piper: In the end, we got our powers back, thanks to Leo, but we didn't know that at the time. We defeated Rex and Hannah, and they went up in a puff of smoke, literally.
Phoebe: Joining in the discussion. We assumed they had been punished.
Paige: So how come they're back?
Piper: That's a good question. She begins to call out. Leo! Leo! Soon Leo orbs in.
Leo: What's wrong, Piper?
Piper: It seems that our old enemies, Rex and Hannah are back in town. How is this possible?
Leo: Shrugs his shoulders. Well if I were to hazzard a guess, I would say that after they had failed to procure your powers, the Source had Rex and Hannah locked up in his dungeon. They would no doubt stay there as long as the Source was alive.
Paige: Of course, the Source is dead now, thanks to us.
Leo: Yes, and no doubt Rex and Hannah escaped in the aftermath.
Phoebe: Why didn't the Elders tell you about this?
Leo: Phoebe, since the Demon leadership was destroyed, news out of the Underworld has been almost nonexistent. There was no way they could have known about this.
Paige: Looks around the room. So what's the big deal here? We handled the Source, surely we can handle a couple of Warlocks.
Phoebe: I wouldn't underestimate Rex and Hannah, Paige. They may be just Warlocks, but they are smart Warlocks. They will come after us only if they are sure they can win. Heck they almost won last time, only the intervention of Leo saved us. She smiles at Leo.
Piper: This is probably why they robbed that Wiccan store. They must have thought some items there could help them.
Phoebe: They may be right. If Agent Jackman, a mere human, could get hold of charms that rendered our power useless, who's to say what Rex and Hannah could be capable of.
Paige: So what's the plan?
Piper: I say it's time to consult the Book Of Shadows and see what we can come up with.

CUT TO THE ATTIC, A FEW MOMENTS LATER....
The Charmed Ones are busy looking through the Book Of Shadows, while Daryl and Leo look on.
Phoebe: Shaking her head in frustration. Well I can't find anything that will help us. The trouble is, this Book is mostly about how to deal with Demons, not Warlocks.
Piper: Well don't forget that Demons are a greater threat. They are more powerful. As far as the evil command structure is concerned, Warlocks are at the very bottom.
Paige: Wait! I have an idea!
Piper: What is it, Paige?
Paige: Why don't we just whip up another power stripping potion. If it worked on Belthazor, surely it will work on... On.... She struggles for the names.
Phoebe: Rex and Hannah.
Paige: Right. Rex and Hannah.
Piper: Little sister, you just might be on to something there. She turns to Daryl. Daryl, I think you've done all you can here for now.
Daryl: Okay, I'll be heading back to headquarters. Please keep me up to date on what happens. Good luck. The girls thank him and then Daryl leaves.
Leo: I'll go and see if the Elders can help us. He orbs out.
Piper: Okay, if we are going to make a power stripping potion, we'll need some ingredients. Unfortunately, we are all out right now.
Phoebe: No problem, I'll just head out to the store and buy some. With that, Phoebe leaves the attic, gathers her stuff, and heads out.
However, what the girls were unaware of was that Rex, in astral form, had been listening to their entire conversation from the moment they had entered the attic. Now that he has heard their plans, Astral-Rex fades away.
CUT TO REX AND HANNAH'S APARTMENT....
In the study, Rex comes out of the trance, and opens his eyes. Hannah looks on eagerly.
Hannah: Well, did you learn anything from them?
Rex: Yes, I have. It seems they are going to prepare some kind of potion that will bind our powers.
Hannah: Well we certainly cannot allow that.
Rex: Smiling. Don't worry, Hannah. They haven't got all the ingredients yet. In fact, Phoebe is heading out to the store to buy some now. An evil smile crosses his face. That gives me an idea that I think we can turn to our advantage. I'll just go back into astral mode and see just where Phoebe is heading.
Rex goes back into Astral mode and begins to track Phoebe.
CUT TO PHOEBE LEAVING THE STORE, ABOUT 30 MINUTES LATER....
Phoebe has successfully purchased the items needed and is heading back to her car. Just as she reaches it, Rex steps out in front of her.
Rex: Hello, Phoebe. It's good to see you again!
Phoebe: But how did you know where to find me?
Rex: Remember my little Astral Projection power?
Phoebe: Mutters under her breath. Damn! Forgot about that.
Rex: I understand that you and your sisters are preparing a potion that would strip me and Hannah of our powers. I'm afraid I cannot allow that.
While Rex has been saying this, Hannah has crept up behind Phoebe with a club.
Phoebe: Oh, yeah, and how do you plan to stop us?
Rex: Like so. With that, Hannah clubs Phoebe over the head. Rex and Hannah look on as Phoebe falls down, unconscious.
Hannah: Looks like your plan is working so far, Rex.
Rex: Looking down at the prone Phoebe. Exactly, now it's on to the next phase.
FADE TO COMMERCIALS
SHOW RESUMES, FADE IN: SAME LOCATION, SOME TIME LATER....
Phoebe opens her eyes and gets painfully to her feet. Looking around, she sees that Rex and Hannah are gone.
Phoebe: Rubbing her aching head. What the hell was all that about? She checks around and soon finds the bag of potion ingredients is missing. Great! That was the last the store had in stock. Guess I'll have to tell Piper the bad news. Phoebe gets in her car and leaves.
CUT TO HALLIWELL MANOR, THE KITCHEN....
Piper and Paige are there, waiting for Phoebe to come home.
Piper: What is taking Phoebe so long? She looks at her watch. She should have been back by now.
Paige: Well maybe she got held up in traffic. San Francisco is a big city, after all.
Piper: At this time in the evening? I don't think so.
Paige: Well do you want to go look for her?
Piper: Not yet. We'll give her ten more minutes and then if she is not back, then we'll go looking.
Suddenly, the front door is heard opening and closing. Before Piper and Paige can react, Phoebe enters the kitchen, empty handed, and rubbing her head.
Piper: Her voice full of concern. Phoebe! Are you okay? What happened?
Phoebe: I'm fine. However, I lost the ingredients. Rex and Hannah caught me by surprise and knocked me out. That's why I'm so late. When I came to, they were gone, and so were the ingredients.
Paige: But how did they know where you were?
Phoebe: Astral projection.
Piper: Damn! That's right, Rex has the power of astral projection and can spy on us whenever he wants to.
Paige: Ugh! Does that mean that every time I take a shower, I'll have to worry if this guy is standing there gawking at me! Her face scrunches up in disgust. Talk about a Peeping Tom!
Phoebe: A Peeping Rex, you mean. She rubs her left arm.
Piper: Something wrong with your arm, Pheebs?
Phoebe: I don't know. There is a slight pain in.... She breaks off and rolls up her sleeve. She sees a small wound near her elbow. Now how did that happen? I must have banged it when I fell.
Paige: Examines the wound. Allow me. She uses her white lighter powers to heal the wound.
Phoebe: Thanks, Paige. You're really starting to get the hang of your healing powers.
Paige: Smiling. No problem.
Phoebe: So what's our next move?
Piper: Well I guess all we can do is see if we can find some more ingredients. She considers. Although I wonder why Rex and Hannah didn't so something more drastic, like kidnapping you.
Phoebe: Yeah, they could have done that, but they didn't. It's almost as if they didn't really need me, but rather just wanted to stop me from getting the ingredients to make the potion.
Paige: Well they succeeded. For now at least.
Piper: True, but I can't help but feel that there is more going on here than we realize.
CUT TO REX AND HANNAH'S APARTMENT....
Rex is standing in the kitchen, over the stove. On the stove rests a boiling pot, with steam coming out the top. Rex is adding ingredients to it.
Rex: Right, now we add some of the potions we took when we robbed that Wiccan store. Rex pours the potions into the mix. There we go.
Hannah: Looking on as Rex works. What's next?
Rex: Now we add the main ingredient. The blood of a Charmed One. He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a syringe full of blood. Poor Phoebe. She doesn't realize that when we knocked her out, all we were really after was a sample of her blood. He smiles to himself. She probably thinks that wound on her left arm was from when she fell.
Hannah: Do you think this will actually work?
Rex: Pours Phoebe's blood into the potion and takes it off the stove. It has to work, Hannah. It has to. Now all we have to do is wait for it to cool down.
At this point, Hannah turns and wanders into the living room. She approaches the window and looks out. San Francisco sits under a beautiful night sky, complete with full Moon.
Hannah: I've always liked the full Moon.
Rex: Comes up behind her. What did you say, Hannah?
Hannah: I said that I've always liked the full Moon. Do you think that when this is over, we can just relax and take it easy for a while.
Rex: Considering. I don't see why not. After all, it's not like we have superiors to answer to anymore.
Hannah: Good, because I want to live like a normal human again, it's been a long time.
Rex: Yes, it has.
Hannah: Turns to face him. I know that we Warlocks are not supposed to feel love, but I do, Rex. You've been the best thing to happen to me in a very long time.
Rex: Flattered at Hannah's words. Hannah, I feel the same way about you. You've awakened feelings in me I thought we lost forever. He walks over and places his hands on her cheeks. Maybe when this is over, we can explore these feelings in greater detail.
Hannah: Smiling. I'd like that very much.
Rex: Then that is what we'll do. But first thing's first. We have a task to complete.
The two Warlocks return to the kitchen, where the potion waits. After about fifteen minutes, it is ready.
Rex: Now that the potion has cooled down a bit, I think it's safe for us now. He gets out two glasses and pours the potion into each of them.
Hannah: I hope it tastes okay.
Rex: That doesn't matter, as long as it works. He hands Hannah a glass. Cheers! He raises his own glass to his lips and drinks down the potion. Hannah does the same.
Hannah: Ugh! She grimaces. That tastes awful!
Rex: I know. However, if this potion works the way I think it will work, then it will be well worth the awful taste.
Hannah: How do we know it will work at all?
Rex: Well there is only one way to find out. Let's go. The two Warlocks quickly leave the apartment.

The Charmed Ones are sitting there, waiting.
Phoebe: So when do you think Leo will get back?
Piper: I don't know. I guess it all depends on what the Elders can tell him
Paige: I hate waiting around like this. We should be doing something!
Piper: True. She stops to think. Maybe there is another potion we can use.
Phoebe: Well we could always re-check the Book Of Shadows and see if we missed anything. Paige: It's worth a try.
Piper: Let's go.
The sisters get up and prepare to return to the attic. However, before they can do that, the front doors fly open and Rex and Hannah stride into the Manor.
Rex: Hello ladies. Going somewhere?
Phoebe: I was wondering when you would show your face again, Rex.
Rex: Well here I am. Now I have some scores to settle.
Piper: Not so fast, Rex! You made a big mistake coming here. She waves her hands at him and Hannah, and waits for them to blow up. However, nothing happens.
Phoebe: What's going on, Piper? Nothing happened!
Piper: I know! She tries again, same result.
Hannah: It looks like your potion worked, Rex.
Paige: Potion?
Rex: Yes, before Hannah and I came here, we drank a new potion I'd mixed from stuff we took from that Wiccan store, plus a bit of Phoebe's blood added to the mix.
Phoebe: That wound I had on my arm. I didn't get it when I fell. After you knocked me out, you took some of my blood!
Rex: Correct! The potion I made has given Hannah and I immunity from your powers. A smug look crosses his face. In other words, Phoebe, you can't defeat us like you did the last time.
Piper: You may be immune to our individual powers, but with the Power Of Three, we can still vanquish you!
Rex: True, if I gave you the chance to use them.
With those words, Rex throws what appears to be a small ball to the floor. The ball explodes and releases some gas at the Halliwell. As Rex and Hannah look on, smiling, all three sisters fall down, unconscious.
Rex: Gloating over the helpless sisters. I'm just full of surprises, aren't I!

SHOW RESUMES, FADE IN: SAME LOCATION, SOME TIME LATER....
We see that the Halliwell sisters are now tied up to chairs, that have been brought into the living room from the dining room. As Rex and Hannah look on, the three Halliwell sisters come to. They try to free themselves, but they are unable to.
Rex: Ah! Welcome back, you three.
Piper: Still struggling with her bonds. So what do you want, Rex?
Rex: Why the Book Of Shadows, of course. I could ask for your powers again, but I don't think you'll be so willing to give them up. So Hannah and I will settle for the Book.
Hannah: Jumps into the conversation. Oh, yeah! Congratulations, Piper! I hear you're going to be a mother. Piper: How do you know about that?
Hannah: Information comes our way. Clearly she is not willing to divulge any more.
Rex: Reasserting his position. So how about handing over the Book Of Shadows and making things easier.
Phoebe: Forget it! Even if we wanted to give it to you, which we most certainly don't, the Book cannot be removed from the Manor.
Rex: Smiling evilly. Oh yes it can. If one of you removes it for me.
Phoebe: Oh, and I suppose you think we are just going to do it for you. Go to Hell!
Hannah: Been there, done that.
Piper: Why are you doing this? Is this some big revenge scheme?
Rex: Looks intently at the three girls. Do you know what the Source's dungeon is like? Do you have any idea?
Paige: Actually, I do. I spent a few hours there, not too long ago.
Hannah: Snorts sarcastically. A few hours!
Rex: Well, imagine what it's like for almost four years! That's how long Hannah and I were there, and if you three hadn't destroyed the Source, we'd be there still.
Phoebe: Sounds to me like you should be thanking us. If it wasn't for us, you'd never be free.
Rex: If it wasn't for you, we wouldn't have been there to begin with! Hannah and I had a promising future in the Underworld. We could have risen all the way up to the Demon Council!
Piper: A Warlock serving on the Demon Council! Dream on, Rex! We know a little bit about how the power structure worked in the Underworld. You Warlocks were at the bottom of the barrel.
Rex: Realizing that Piper is right, but too smug to admit it. Well that's neither here nor there now. The point is, thanks to you Halliwells, Hannah and I got thrown into the dungeon. Now it's time to even the score.
Piper: Well forget it, Rex. You can do what you want with us, but we still won't give you the Book Of Shadows.
Hannah: Maybe there's a spell in that Book of theirs that will make these three a little more helpful.
Rex: Turns to face Hannah. You're right, Hannah. I'll go and have a look. He turns back to the Halliwells. In case you three are planning anything, I am leaving Hannah here to watch you. He reaches into his jacket, pulls out a gun, and hands it to Hannah. If they try anything, shoot them.
Phoebe: A gun? Since when do Warlocks use guns?
Rex: I admit it's a crude weapon, but effective, none the less. Watch them closely, Hannah.
Hannah: I will Rex.
Rex then turns and heads up the stairs.
Paige: Muttering under her breath. Damn! If I could only get my hands free, I could call for the gun! She struggles with her bonds.
Hannah: Comes over to where Paige is tied up. What did you say?
Paige: Nothing.
Hannah: Backs up so she can cover all three sisters with the gun. Good! No tricks now. I know how to use this gun, as my cheating husband found out.
Phoebe: Huh? Your husband? What husband?
Hannah: Realizing that she has said more than she wanted to. It's nothing!
Phoebe: Something happened to you once, didn't it. Someone hurt you, and the pain still eats at you.
Hannah: Starting to lose it. Shut up! Shut up! SHUT UP!! She advances menacingly on Phoebe, the gun held high. I swear to God that if you say another word, I'll blow your head off! After a few minutes, Hannah seems to calm down and she returns to her former position.
Phoebe: Under her breath. Well that struck a nerve.
Piper: So, Hannah, what are you and Rex going to do with us? Assuming you get the Book Of Shadows.
Hannah: I'm not sure. We haven't decided that yet.

CUT TO THE ATTIC....
The door opens and Rex slowly enters. He sees the Book Of Shadows on the pedestal and moves towards it.
Rex: Ah! The Book Of Shadows. Now let's see what secrets you will reveal to me. Rex opens the Book and begins to look through it. Suddenly, the Book flares up into a brilliant, blinding light. Rex throws his arms over his face and stumbles back, shrieking.
CUT TO THE LIVING ROOM....
Hannah is still holding the gun on the tied up Halliwells, when Rex's shriek is heard from upstairs.
Hannah: Concern in her voice. Rex! She immediately drops the gun and runs up the stairs.
CUT TO THE ATTIC....
Rex is slumped against the wall, by the window, his hands still covering his eyes. Hannah enters the attic and sees him.
Hannah: Rex, what happened? Are you okay? She moves towards him.
Rex: Hannah! Stay back! Don't look at the Book!
Hannah: Reaches his side. Rex, please tell me! What happened?
Rex: The Book.... A bright light.... He takes his hands away from his eyes and stares sightlessly ahead. I can't see, Hannah. I'm blind!
CUT TO THE LIVING ROOM....
The Halliwells sisters are puzzling over what happened upstairs, but Piper is ready to take advantage of the situation.
Piper: Paige, quick, orb out of your chair and free us.
Paige: Right. She closes her eyes and soon orbs out of her chair. Paige's ropes fall the floor. Seconds later, Paige reappears, now free. She stands up.
Phoebe: Nice job, Paige. Now untie us.
Paige: That's not necessary. She holds out her hands. Ropes! The ropes holding Piper and Phoebe disappear and reappear in Paige's hands.
Phoebe: Thanks, Paige. She glances up the stairs. I wonder what happened to Rex?
Piper: Never mind that. We have to find a vanquishing spell for those two now!
Suddenly a new, and familiar voice, is heard.
Prue's voice: That's not necessary, Piper.
Everyone freezes with astonishment at hearing the voice.
Phoebe: In a squeaky voice. Prue?
Prue: Materializes in front of her sisters. Yes, Phoebe, it's me.
Phoebe just stands there for a second, and then slowly reaches out a hand towards Prue. She finds she can touch Prue. Emotion then overcomes Phoebe and she wraps Prue in a huge hug. Piper soon joins in.
Paige: Feeling a little left out of things, as she never knew Prue. Okay, will somebody please tell me what is going on here.
Phoebe: Still hugging Prue. Prue's back! She's back!
Piper: Also still hugging Prue. And she's solid, like Mom was at my wedding.
Paige: Starting to grasp the situation. Like my adoptive parents were, that time Leo brought their spirits here. Her eyes begin to mist up as she remembers the experience.
Prue: After being released by Piper and Phoebe, looks at Paige. You must be Paige. I've heard a lot of good things about you. I've even met your adoptive parents, Grams introduced us, we're all very proud of you. We're happy that you've been able to fit into our family.
Paige: Well the Matthews family did raise me, and I'll always love them for that. She looks at Piper, Phoebe, and Prue. But you three are my real family, and I am proud to be part of it. She walks toward Prue. Can I.... She breaks off.
Prue: Of course you can! Prue embraces her new sister in a hug.
Piper: Trying to pull herself together. Prue, it's wonderful to see you again, but I thought it wasn't allowed.
Prue: After she and Paige finish hugging. Let's just say that Grams decided enough time had passed for you to see me again.
Phoebe: Does that mean we'll see you from time to time, like we do Mom and Grams.
Prue: Yes, Phoebe, it means exactly that.
Phoebe: That's wonderful!
Paige: Suddenly realizing something. Uh, I don't mean to spoil this wonderful moment, but aren't we forgetting about Rex and Hannah? They're still in the attic.
Prue: Smiling. Oh don't worry about them. I prepared a little surprise for Rex when he tried to read the Book Of Shadows. He's been rendered harmless.
Piper: Good, now let's go vanquish their sorry butts!
Prue: I'm afraid we can't do that.
Piper: Astonished at what Prue has just said. Why not?
Prue: Come with me. You'll know everything soon. The four Halliwell sisters head up the stairs.

CUT TO THE ATTIC....
Hannah is still tending to the blind Rex, but he wants her to leave.
Rex: Hannah, quick, get out of here while you still can.
Hannah: I'm not leaving you!
Rex: Hannah, you must!
Hannah: Dammit no! I love you, Rex! If you stay, I stay!
Rex: I.... I love you too, Hannah. The two of them embrace and kiss tenderly. Well if we are about to be vanquished, at least we'll be together.
Prue: That's not going to happen, Rex. She, Piper, Phoebe, and Paige enter the attic and walk over to the two Warlocks.
Hannah: Dumbfounded. Prue!? But I thought you were dead.
Prue: I am! One of your friends, Shax, saw to that. But that's not important right now. We have other things to discuss.
Rex: Other things? What do you mean?
Prue: Looks intently at Rex and Hannah. I mean that you two have a destiny of your own, you have unfulfilled potential for good. You can regain your humanity.
Piper: Humanity? She turns to Prue. What are you talking about, Prue?
Prue: Why don't you tell them, Rex?
Rex: Very well, what I have I got to lose? He takes a deep breath and begins his story. I was born Charles Williams, in Liverpool, England, in 1912. My family was well to do at first, but we lost all our money in the Stock Market Crash of 1929. I had to get a job at a very early age, it was hard. There were not that many jobs available during the Great Depression. Soon, however, I managed to get a job in the British Government. When World War II started, I was working in British Intelligence, then I found it more profitable to go over to the other side. I sold military secrets to the Germans for more than two years and was making more money that I had ever seen in my lifetime. But eventually my luck ran out and I was arrested in January of 1942. I knew that they would surely execute me, so I decided to beat them to it. On the night before my trial was to commence, I hanged myself in my cell. For the crime of selling out my fellow human beings for profit, I was sent to the Underworld. Being a condemned soul there is something you would never want to experience. So after fifty years of that miserable existence, the Source approached me and offered to recruit me into the ranks of the Warlocks. Seeing no other way out of my situation, I accepted.
Phoebe: And the rest, as they say, is history.
Hannah: Sighing. My story is almost exactly like Rex's. I was born Abigail Hughes, in Chicago, in 1866. My family never had much money, but we got by. In 1893, I was married to Tom Perkins, a city councilman. We were very happy together, at least that is what I thought at first. About six months into our marriage, Tom began working late at the office and taking business trips out of town, at least that is what he told me. Something about this started to bother me, so I hired a private detective to follow Tom on one of his so-called business trips. It didn't take long for the truth to be revealed, Tom had a mistress and was cheating on me. At first I felt nothing, but then the hatred and anger started to fester inside me. Tom would say he was going out of town, but I knew what was really going on. One day I could take it no longer. I knew Tom kept a Smith & Wesson in storage, so I got it out, loaded it, and waited for him to come home. When he did, I emptied the whole gun into his cheating body. After that, I went out to the nearest bridge, threw myself over it, and plunged to my death. For the crime of taking a human life, I was sent to the Underworld, for over a hundred years. The Source recruited me at the same time he recruited Rex.
Phoebe: Putting the pieces together. So that was the meaning of that comment you made downstairs about your cheating husband.
Hannah: Yes, it was.
Prue: The point is, you two can put all that behind you and begin again. You have a chance to start a new life.
Rex: But we're Warlocks. The law says we have to kill witches.
Piper: Rex, the Source made that law, and he's gone now. This is a chance to break the chain and set out on your own destiny. Besides, look at you and Hannah, you two are in love. However, it is said that Warlocks cannot feel love. So maybe there was always good in you, you just had to find it.
Hannah: She's right, Rex. Maybe we just never realized the truth before.
Rex: Thinking it over. Well, I guess we could try to start again. He points to his eyes. However, I'm blind now.
Prue: Don't worry about that, Rex. I only did that to slow you down and give us the time we needed to talk to you. She waves her hand.
Rex: Blinking his eyes. My sight's back! I can see again! He looks at Hannah. You are the most beautiful sight I have laid eyes on.
Hannah: Blushing. Rex, please ! There are people here!
Rex: I don't care.
Prue: So, Rex, what's it going to be?
Rex: Well, Prue, we accept. Hannah and I can, and will, try to start again and make amends for our past crimes. You have our word on that.
Prue: That's good enough for me.
Piper, Phoebe, and Paige: At the same time. It's good enough for us as well.
Leo: Orbs in. I've just talked to the Elders and...." He breaks off as he sees Prue, Rex, and Hannah standing there. Why do I feel that I'm late to the party, again!
Piper: Because you are, Leo, you are! Everyone starts to laugh, and even Leo joins in.

TRANSITION FADE TO THE POLICE STATION, THE NEXT DAY....
We see Daryl Morris on the phone.
Daryl: That's okay, Piper, I'm not sure I fully understand the situation, but I trust your judgment on this. I'll talk to you later. He hangs up the phone and picks up the Buckland file and goes into the captain's office.
Captain Hawkins: Ah, Morris, anything new to report.
Daryl: Sorry, sir, but I followed every lead I had. There is no sign of Buckland or Webster. He puts the file down on the captain's desk. I'm afraid this is another dead end.
Hawkins: Oh, well, it was worth a try. Carry on, Morris.
Daryl: Yes, sir.
CUT TO REX AND HANNAH'S APARTMENT
Rex and Hannah are in the study, thinking things over.
Hannah: Well, Rex, what do we do now?
Rex: Well I guess we have to try and find our places here. If we truly mean to leave our past behind us, that is.
Hannah: But how do we begin?
Rex: I know one way. He gets to his knees in front of Hannah and takes her hand. Hannah Webster, will you marry me?
Hannah: Momentarily stunned. Well, I... Yes! Yes, I will marry you!!
Rex: I love you, Hannah!
The two Warlocks embrace, ready to begin a new future together.
CUT TO HALLIWELL MANOR, THE DINING ROOM....
The four Halliwell sisters, and Leo, are there, celebrating with champaign.
Piper: It's so wonderful to have you back, Prue. How long can you.... How long.... She is unable to go on.
Prue: How long can I stay here? Well they've decided to let me stay for another 24 hours!
Phoebe: That's great! I wish we could go out. Of course, if someone saw Prue, it would raise a lot of awkward questions.
Piper: It doesn't matter. We can celebrate right here in the Manor.
Leo: I agree.
Paige: Clears her throat and stands up. I have an announcement of my own to make. I was raise by a wonderful family that adopted me. Last year, I found my birth family, and realized they were just as wonderful. So now I figure that it's time I did something to honour both my families. She picks up her glass. How about toasting your newest sister, Paige Matthews-Halliwell.
Prue, Piper, Phoebe, and Leo: All raise their glasses. Paige Matthews-Halliwell.
Everyone clinks their glasses together and the celebration continues.
FADE OUT TO CLOSING CREDITS.

Oh man, talk about a blast from the past. I didn't even know Aretha had put this here until today. Tim02 was the username I had at the first Charmed Cafe, where this was originally posted.
As you can see, I wrote this way back in 2002, thirteen years ago now. This was my one off period in my Charmed fan fiction writing history. The ill fated Charmed Extended Universe was six months in the future. The Rex and Hannah Chronicles was six years away.
The Rex and Hannah that appeared here were based on the incarnations I wrote in my early stories (1999-2000). Although some concepts I wrote here, like R&H getting an apartment in Palo Alto, I would later incorporate into the R&H Chronicles (until I moved them to Lovecraft Country at the beginning of this year).
Anyway, this is how I would have opened Season Five. Notice that Phoebe is not a total bitch towards Cole, because I was working on how things ended in S4 with them. I wrote the sisters like the characters I knew and loved (don't forget that S5 had yet to start when I wrote this). Also, I had a Special Guest Appearance by Shannen Doherty as Prue. No doubt, had this been produced, that wouldn't have happened. Prue would have had to be replaced by Patty or Penny, I suppose (no way Shannen would have agreed to guest star).
Still, it was fun to read this again.

Great story, Tim. Hard to believe how far you've come as a writer since then.

Yeah, hard to believe that 13 years have passed since I wrote this. I wrote this when I started hearing whispers about that Little Mermaid rip-off they planned to open S5 with. I just wanted to show how I would have done it.
As I said, I wrote the sisters as the characters I knew and loved. Little did I know that those sisters would soon be just a memory.

I couldn't agree more. At least I stayed within the bounds of Charmed of the early seasons, no rubbish fairy tale stuff here.
This could have been done. The only hurdle I could see would be getting Shannen to guest star. Just a year after she was unjustly fired, I don't see that happening.
