Shades of Gray (Part 4~5/15)

Part 1

Mrs. Dawson knocked on the door of her 15 year old daughter's bedroom. "Hailey, get up. We have a meeting with the Elders this morning." Hailey got showered and dressed, did her make up, then orbed Up There and sat down.

Katie Bentley orbed Up There, next to Hailey. "Hey, save me a seat?"
"Don't I always?" asked Hailey.

Hilarie Baker was spending the night at her friend, Aradia Collins' house. As Aradia's alarm went off, they both raced for the shower. Hilarie arrived there first, and with a sly grin on her face, she shut and locked the door.
"Hey!" said Aradia. "It's my house!"
"Yeah," laughed Hilarie. "But I'm the guest!" Hilarie finished in the bathroom, and walked out wrapped in a towel. Aradia glared at her as the steam poured out. "Ooh, there had better be hot water left."
Hilarie smiled at her, "Of course there is." She watched Aradia go in and close the door.
"Not."

Jake Winters, Chris Williams, and Matt Danielz were sleeping on the floor of Matt's room, having just spent the night there. Mr. Danielz walked into the room, "Matt, let's go. We don't have all day." Matt rolled over as Jake rolled on top of him.
"Ugh, get off, you're drooling on me," he said as he pushed Jake off of him. Matt took a shower and ate some breakfast, then went to his dad. "What's up?"
"The Source is holding a meeting," said Mr. Danielz.
"Ok," said Matt. "Jake, Chris, let's go!" He bolted out, and they followed.

Aradia got out eventually, and she and Hilarie both finished getting dressed, and did their hair and make up. Then Aradia took Hilarie's hand and they orbed out together. They arrived Up There, and found their friends. "Hey guys," said Aradia. "Miss anything?"
"Hmm, nope," said Katie. "Just arguing among the Elders..."
"Which always happens," finished Hailey.
"Well, it's not any fun until that happens," smiled Hilarie, as she sat next to Katie.
"I know," said Aradia, rolling her eyes. "It's the highlight of my day." She stood next to Hailey, as they watched the Elders.

Part 2

Matt bolted to the Source, "You wanted to see me?"
"Yes," replied the Source. "You sit by me." The others arrived, and the meeting began. "The gods have been reincarnated, and are killing witches left and right. Ordinarily this would be a good thing, but they are killing demons as well. Certain demons have been chosen to meet with some good witches, and find a way to defeat these gods. Joining good and evil will be the only way to destroy them. Afterwards, of course, feel free to torture and kill the witches." He flamed out.
Matt looked wide-eyed at his friends, "I can't believe we have to do this."
"Tell me about it," said Chris.

The meeting with the Elders started, and soon enough the plan was revealed. "Are you kidding me?" Hailey asked, jaw dropping. "They'll try to kill us!"
"There's no way in-" Aradia stopped herself as the Elders turned to glare at her. "There's just no way." After getting over the initial shock, Hilarie was inclined to agree with the Elders. "We're saving the world people. Besides, it might not be so bad," she said with an innocent smile that fooled nobody. "You know how I am about bad boys. Might even be fun until we have to kill them."
"They're evil!" shouted Katie. "They'll kill us the first chance they get."
"No," stated the Elder. "They want to stop this too. We're each choosing a group of representatives."
"Like who?" asked Hailey. "Our parents?"
"No, too much conflict between adults," replied the Elder, looking at the four girls.
"No way!" exclaimed Katie. "You've got to be kidding us."
"Do you really hate us so much," asked Aradia, "That you're trying to send us to our deaths?"
"You will be safe, and protected..." said the Elder, attempting to assure them.
"Yeah, by the Source after he kidnaps us!" said Katie.
"That won't happen," replied the Elders.
"Screw you, alright?! We're not putting our asses on the line for you," said Hilarie.
"I second that," agreed Aradia.
The Elders looked at each other sorrowfully, "I'm afraid you have no choice. If you don't go, your parents will be forced to."
"You can't give us an ultamatum like that," said Aradia, exchanging a worried glance with the others.
"We just did."
The four girls went off alone to confer. "Do you think they're serious?" asked Hilarie.
"I know they are," replied Aradia.

Part 3

"What should we do?" asked Katie.
"I have no idea," said Hailey. "It's a big risk."
"We'll have to go for it," said Aradia, turning to glare at the Elders. "You'd better watch out. Because before I kill them, I'm gonna bring them up here just so they can kill you. Don't think I won't." She orbed out.
"I hate it when she does that," sighed Hilarie, looking at the others. "Well come on! We can't just let her die!" They all orb out, except Hilarie, who shimmers in a veil of blue light.

Matt, Chris, and Jake were already at the meeting spot, an open circle in the middle of the woods. "Where the hell are they?" asked Matt.
"I don't know," replied Chris, forming an energy ball. "You think they chickened out?"
"Probably, either that or they're too good for us," said Jake, making Matt laugh.
"Trust me, they're too good for you." The boys turned around to find Aradia standing there, alone. "Looking for me?" Looks around as the others appear behind her.
"Well, look who decided to show up half an hour late," said Matt.
"Well, look who's lucky he's not already dead," replied Aradia.
"You couldn't kill us if you tried," said Jake.
"You shouldn't have wasted your orbs," said Chris.
"Well, at least we have orbs," smirked Hilarie, and they just glared.
"Jake, Chris, cool it," said Matt.
Jake forms a fireball in his hand, then puts it out, "I'll try."
"Somebody's whipped," smirked Aradia.
"And somebody deserves to be whipped," glared Jake.
"Sorry big boy, I don't go for that sort of thing."

Part 4

Matt smirked, "Like we believe that. Listen, unlike you we're doing this because we chose to, not because our parents had to force us."
"No one had to force us," said Aradia. "We came so we could have the pleasure of kicking your asses when this is over."
"Dream on," said Jake.
"We don't have to," replied Katie. "Besides, it's not like any of our dreams would ever be about you."
"Speaking of dreams, have you ever dreamed you could fly?" asked Hilarie, using her telekinesis to fling Jake into the air and twirl him around. Jake shimmered out in mid air, and reappeared on the ground, visibly shaken.
"Listen," said Matt. "These gods or whatever aren't gonna wait around for us to finish fighting so just stop being so immature about it." He looked to Chris and Jake, "All of you."
Hailey rolled her eyes, and action that is repeated by Katie, "You guys, come on let's get this over with so we can kick their asses back to hell."
"I'd choose hell over here any day," replied Jake, and Chris agreed, grinning, "Tell me about it."
"Well of course you would, you're demons," said Aradia, rolling her eyes.
"Would you all just stop?!" yelled Matt.
"All right," said Chris, "Let's do this."
"I bet you don't even know what to do," laughed Hilarie.
"We have to figure out a spell or potion," said both Aradia and Matt at the same time. Aradia turned away in disgust, letting him finish. "We have to combine our forces for a plan to get these gods out of here."
"We could use the hollow..." said Chris.
"Yeah, so it could take over? Don't think so," replied Hilarie.
"Well then why don't you figure something out you little witch?" snarled Jake.
"Hear that, hun?" laughed Aradia. "I think they'd like your other nickname better."
"Oh shut up," replied Hilarie to the inside joke, trying not to grin.
"Do you have a second choice?" asked Hailey as she turned back to the boys.
"How bout we make our own hollow?" said Matt.
"What?" asked Jake.
"Combine good and evil, our good and evil, to create something that can take over the gods and then vanquish them. The only difference would be that our hollow would have to suck the powers out of the gods once it entered them, making them vulnerable to be vanquished."
"Isn't that kind of risky?" asked Katie. "What if we can't get the hollow into the gods?"
"Got a better idea?" asked Chris.
"Besides sacrificing you three to them and gaining their favor? No," replied Hilarie.
"You know, that's not helping," said Matt. "Unlike you four we're making an effort here. We actually care about our future."
"Then maybe you should just leave while you can. Because once this is over, you won't have a future. We'll vanquish your sorry asses just like any other day," replied Aradia.
"And if you think-"
"Katie, shut up," interrupted Hailey.
"Excuse me?" said Katie as she raised an eyebrow toward Hailey.
"They're right, we have to get this over with so we can just get out of here and get things back to normal," replied Hailey.
"Well one of you actually has some sanity," grinned Chris.
"And it seems the sarcastic one of you has a death wish," Aradia shot back coldly.
"Hailey..." said Katie. "If you're taking their side then just go with them."
"Katie, what are you saying?" asked Hilarie, shocked.
"Katie, we have to save our future too!" exclaimed Hailey, and she stepped next to Chris. Aradia's eyes widen.
"You couldn't have kept your mouth shut, Katie?" asked Hilarie.
"Well what?!" exclaimed Katie. "She was taking their side over ours!"
