A/N: Chapter Six on a new post.

Leo had been “up there” for two years. Occasionally, when need arose, he came back down to the girls to help them. He was the only Elder who ever did so. Leo wasn’t exactly the person who would always follow the rules.

These past two years, Leo had been watching his sons grow up. Wyatt was already four and half, and the newer son, Chris, was only two. Leo saw Wyatt learn how to spell his name and try to teach his younger brother the letters of the alphabet. He saw Chris say his first words, “Da Da.” But seeing it isn’t the same thing as being there. It hurt Leo that he couldn’t spend more time with his sons. They wouldn’t be kids forever. He had only held Chris in his arms five times since the boy had been born. Chris would have no memory of his father except the occasional unplanned visit or what he was told.

“Leo, we need you.” Azarius, another Elder, approached Leo to beckon him to the Council of Elders. The Charmed Ones needed a new whitelighter, and it was up to Leo to help decide who would fill the honorable position. There was a time when I was their whitelighter Leo reminisced, when Piper and I were happy and starting a family. Sometimes Leo cursed the day he ever became an Elder and abandoned his family. I didn’t really abandon them I answered a higher calling. Everyday Leo was torn in two about his decision. Piper didn’t understand how hard it was. She didn’t know I had to choose between her and the rest of the world. And that is just what Leo did. He chose to help better the world by becoming an Elder. He chose to help make good magic stronger than its evil counterpart. And because of his decision, he suffered everyday. And now, he had to choose a replacement for what was once his favorite job. Watching out for his favorite people in the whole word.

Chapter 1: Leo and the New Whitelighter

Leo followed Azarius into the Council Chamber, where the Council of Elders was held. As he walked in, all the other Elder raised their head to watch him.

"Ah, Leo, your finally here." The Council Leader said. "You know what will be decided here. So come sit, and deliberate with us." Leo sat with the other Elders. They talked for a very long time, carefully choosing two candidates for the Charmed One's whitelighter. There was a knock on the golden doors.

"Enter Mark and Steven," The Council Leader spoke, ushering in the potential whitelighters. "We have decided who will fill the position as the whitelighter to the Charmed Ones." The two men looked very nervous and unsure.

Leo spoke, "It would please the Elders to have Steven as the whitelighter to the Charmed Ones." The whitelighter, Steven, smiled and step foward.

"It would be my honor to except this position," Steven responded, clearly pleased with himself. That was my position, Leo thought. And I sure hope we won't have to deal with another cocky whitelighter like Chris was for that short time.

Leo spoke up once again, "Your duties take place immediately. Orb to your new charges and give them this." Leo pulled out a piece of parchment paper. "This explains who you are, for they will not be apt to trust you right away." The piece of paper did indeed tell who Steven was, but it also contained a message from Leo to Piper. I hope she gets it, and realizes how much I miss her. The other Elders looked about at each other, completely aware what else the letter contained, but permitted it. Leo was in high reverance "up there" for his bravery.

"Yes, Leo, I will give this to the Charmed Ones." Steven looked around at his superiors. "Good day sirs, I will be back when the Charmed Ones need your council." With that Steven orbed down to San Fransisco to his new prestigious job and new charges.

"I hope we won't regret that desicion," Leo remarked as he stood and left the Council Chamber. I'll keep my eye on him, I have no reason not to trust him, but I don't. Leo settled down in the clouds and set to watch his family from "up there." He saw Steven orb into the Halliwell manor, which was abuzz with activity and rather messy. It seems the kids have made Piper a little lax with the cleaning Leo laughed to himself. He saw his son running around in the kitchen, getting in the way of Piper. "Wyatt hunny, mommy is trying to bake cookies. Can you please get out of the way? I don't want you to get burnt." Wyatt backed off for about five seconds before he was back to his inquisitive self. That's my boy, Leo thought smiling to himself. He turned to the youngest one. And that's my other boy. A twinge of sadness crossed Leo's face as he watched young Chris peacefully sleeping. He regretted not being able to be a father to his sons, especially to Chris. While Chris was back from the future, Chris oftenly directed his wrath towards Leo. It's completely my fault, I wasn't there. I'm not a father anymore, I'm a guardian. Fathers can be with their sons, but I can't Leo tried to smile, but it was just too hard. There was just too much hurt in that issue. Leo turned away from the image of his son and wiped a stray tear. He focused on Steven, who was presently frozen while the three girls read the letter that was in his hand.

"Our new whitelighter?" Phoebe said increduously. "Do we even need a whitelighter anymore? God it'll be so weird with one. The only whitelighter we ever had was a member of the family." The girls nodded thinking of Leo in the sky, and adult Chris back in the future.

"Well I guess the Elders finally decided we needed one. And he isn't too bad looking." Paige looked Steven up and done in an approving manner. "Can you two handle the new guy? I have papers to grade then I'm going out with David." Oh right how could I forget Paige finally has a steady job. Leo cracked up and the Elders nearby glanced over at him. Its nice Paige has found a job that lets her make a difference in children's lives again. Paige was a teacher at the Magic School. She found a new passion other than witchcraft and her boyfriend. A constructive passion. Paige was one of the best teachers the magic school ever had. But who would expect any less from a Charmed One?

"Yeah, thats ok. I'll deal with frozen boy here, and you do whatever you have to do." Piper responded waving her hands at the frozen whitelighter. He promptly unfroze.

"Hey, where did the other one go? You froze me didn't you!" Steven threw an accusatory look at Piper.

"Woah, buddy. You don't just come into my house uninvited and expect me not to freeze you." Piper responded coldly.

"Ok ok, sorry. I'm assuming you read the letter. My name is Steven and I'll be your whitelighter for as long as I'm assigned to you." Steven tried to joke, but Piper just stared him down. Leo smiled, still the same Piper I love. Strong and in charge.

"Ok Steven, It's really unlike me to just let you off the hook by reading a letter, but I have things to do and so do the rest of us. You can just sit around and babysit the boys while I go out for a little." With that she ran upstairs before Steven could even protest.

"Hey, Piper! I'm not a babysitting service. You have Leo for that!" Steven glanced up and gave the sky a sneering smile. HaHa very funny Steven Leo narrowed his eyes. He continued watching now focused on Piper. She looks great, Leo commented to himself, as Piper decked herself out in datewear. I wonder if she's going on a date with that Walker character? For many many months now, Leo had been watching Piper date Andrew Walker. A magical bartender at P3. They seemed to get along really well because Piper didn't need to hide her witchcraft. It's nothing serious Leo scoffed, but secretly worried. He'd been watching their dates and they looked really cosy. Like he and Piper had once been.

Chapter 2: Piper's Bombshell

Leo opened the door of the nursery. He walked over to Chris’s crib, where the little boy was crying. He picked up his son and cradles him in his arms. He gently rocks Chris back in forth and sings softly to him. Leo hears a creak from the doorway. He turns sharply around, expecting a demon attack, but it was only Piper.

“Hey, I was only watching my two favorite guys in the world.” Piper replied sheepishly, being caught watching Leo and Chris.

“Its fine. I just thought you might have been a demon.” Leo hugs Chris tighter. “Look at him Piper, he looks so much like you. He has your stubbornness too.” Leo smiles as Piper tilts her head and rolls her eyes. “Yeah, but he has your heart Leo.”

Suddenly, a demon appears and hurls an energy ball at Piper. Caught off guard, the energy ball hits her and she is thrown back into the wall. “No!” Leo yells as he sees the demon advancing toward Piper. Chris was still in his arms, and Leo knew if he put Chris down the demon could steal his son. The demon hurled another energy ball at Piper, making contact and sending Piper back against the wall. She fell to the floor in pain.

Leo awoke with a start, sweating and his arms reaching out in help. It was just a dream, Leo thought. But why am I shaking so hard? He shook himself and got up from his bed in his private bedroom. Elders did need sleep, occasionally. Feeling the need to check up on Piper, Leo exited his room and went out into the blinding light that eternally lit “up there.” Leo settled down on some clouds and looked down on the San Francisco night. He found the Halliwell manor and peeked into Piper’s bedroom. His brows creased with a frown as he studied the scene more intently.

Clothes were strewn on the floor, in a line to the bed. A black lacy bra lay on the floor next to a pair of striped boxers. Hey, Leo thought, she bought that bra to wear for me. He smiled briefly thinking Piper had the bra on for only five minutes until it was on the ground much like it was now. He frowned again when he realized that his ex-wife, but still the love of his life, was peacefully asleep in the arms of Andrew Walker. Tears spiked Leo’s eyes and momentarily his heart gave a painful thump. So this is what a broken heart feels like, Leo thought sadly, too bad I’m already dead. For the two years that Leo had been “up there” Piper had never had a serious relationship. In a way, Leo was very happy that Piper hadn’t found anyone. She still loves me; she hasn’t gotten over me yet, Leo would think to himself happily. But now, it looks like she might have.

Leo sat for hours watching his wife sleep. Tracing her face with his finger. Longingly wishing to trade places with the man asleep next to her. However, he couldn’t spend forever watching her, and Leo was called away to perform his duties as an Elder. As soon as he could he returned to watch his family.

He came to a pleasant scene. Wyatt was playing outside with Chris. They blew bubbles in the backyard and the bubbles drifted lazily over the heads of Piper, Phoebe, and Paige lounging in the backyard on chairs. “Look at that bubble mommy!” Wyatt crowed as he saw a bubble go higher and higher in the clear blue sky. “I see it sweetie. You sent a bubble to Daddy “up there.” Piper responded watching the bubble disappear from view. “Yeah! I did, I did! I sent a bubble to daddy!! Do you like it daddy?” Wyatt asked to the sky. Leo could only smile at his son and he watched the bubble climb higher, until it suddenly burst. He focused back on the Halliwell backyard.

“Phoebe and Paige, there’s something very important I need to discuss with you.” Piper told them. Piper fidgeted in her chair and sat up straighter, clasping her hands together. Oh this must be serious, Leo thought, she has that look on her face.

“Sure Piper, you can tell us.” Paige responded her sunny smile dimming a bit with Piper’s statement. The two women looked anxiously at Piper wondering if there was something wrong with her.

“Well, I don’t know where to begin, but there’s going to be some changes around here.” The corners of Piper’s mouth turned up into a small smile. Paige and Phoebe’s eyes widened.

“Piper! Stop being so cryptic and spill it already!” Phoebe demanded unwilling to wait. She jiggled her leg nervously.

“Well, last night I was with Andrew. And, he proposed.” Piper held up her hand and a ring flashed in the sun.

“Oh my god Piper!! Your getting married!” Paige and Phoebe yelled, shock evident on their faces. Leo stared, Piper’s getting married!!

Chapter 3: Desperate Measures
Leo stood up quickly, still in shock. He felt the world spinning around him. I’m not going to faint, I’m not going to faint, Leo told himself. Feeling, however, like any minute he would wake up on the floor of “up there.” How, why, WHY?? Leo asked himself. His question reverberated loudly in his mind. He touched his cheek and pulled his hand away, stained with bitter tears.

“Leo! What is the matter?” Azarius the Elder asked, very concerned. He almost ran over to Leo and put a hand on his shoulder. “Did you see something? Did something happen to one of the Charmed Ones?”<br>
“Yeah, something happened to one of the Charmed Ones! Marriage that’s what!!! And you want to know who, PIPER!!” Leo’s voice grew louder and louder until he was yelling. His screams echoing down the white and gold-gilded halls of “up there.” Leo leaned his face near Azarius’ and began to talk in a mock calm tone, but filled with bitter anger. “And I bet your wondering why she’s getting married Azarius. It’s because of you!! You and your stupid friends, taking me from my family and destroying my life! My happiness! Didn’t you know Piper was my world??” Leo reverted back to yelling again. By now, he had everyone’s attention up there. His last sentences were spoken to all who were presently “up there.” Whitelighters and Elders alike stood in shock at Leo’s words. Never had anyone seen an Elder act that way, but that was Leo, he was never the conventional Elder.

“Leo. You’re right, there is nothing I can say.” Azarius tried to put his hand on Leo’s arm in a comforting manner, but Leo pushed the arm away.

“Don’t touch me! I’ve had it with this. I’m getting out of here, NOW!” A collective gasp was heard when Leo orbed out.

As always, Leo found himself in “his spot.” Leo came here often to reflect and just ponder many things about his family, Elderdom, and magic in general. Leo pondered even now, but it was not the usual more serene pondering. Leo paced up and down on top of the Golden Gate Bridge unaware of everything except what was racing through his mind. I have to go back to Piper! I just can’t let her marry someone else; it would kill me. Idiot!! You’re already dead! Many desperate ideas came to Leo’s mind, but he cast them aside. I’m an Elder now and I can’t get out of it! Leo screamed to himself. God, I wish I never agreed to this @#%$ higher calling!! In a fit of rage Leo tore off the silvery robes that signified his high position and cast the article into the water. If only it was that easy, Leo thought to himself. All of a sudden a maniacal grin spread across his face. “I have an idea!” He said aloud to himself. And with that, he put his plan into action.

Screams where heard across the bridge. Panicked people got out of their car to gape at what just happened. Leo had just orbed into the middle of the crowded Golden Gate Bridge. Leo stared defiantly to the sky, as frightened faces watched his every move.

“I exposed magic! What are you going to do about it now?” Leo screamed to the sky like a lunatic. Leo secretly prayed that with his daring move the other Elders would strip him of his position. Leo smiled at the sky, almost mocking the Elders. He saw a flash out of the corner of his eye and more screams erupted. Oh god! What have I done? Leo thought, sure a Darklighter had come to claim a prize that was an Elder. However, all he saw were men in pristine white suits smiling pityingly at him.

“Hello Leo.” One of the men said.

“You’ve made quite a mess, and now we have to clean it up.” The other man responded, motioning the bridge with his hands. The Cleaners approached Leo almost floating off the ground.

“Wait, your not going to kill me, are you?” Leo asked frightened.

“I’m sorry Leo, but you’ve exposed magic and you’re a danger to us all now. There is nothing for us to do but dispose of you.” The Cleaners were getting close, and showed no signs of stopping. Leo’s eyes widened in terror as he backed away from the two men. Both of the men laughed derisively at the fallen Elders’ attempt to escape. Leo backed up until he backed into the hood of a blue sedan. He turned to see the female driver screaming in terror, an expression of shock on her pretty face. The Cleaners were too close now, and at any moment they could reach out and grab Leo. With seconds to lose Leo made a critical decision. He orbed out just as the Cleaners went to grab him.

“Damn!” They both grunted. “Leo!! You can’t run from us forever!” They yelled at the trail of blue orbs moving quickly across the sky. Leo looked back. All he could see of the Cleaners were their immaculate white suits glinting in the sun. What have I done? I’m a fugitive of the Elders and now the Cleaners too!

Chapter 4: Piper and Leo's Reunion
Before Leo knew what he was doing, he found himself outside the manor. I can’t be here! The Elders are probably looking for me, and they will definitely check here. But Leo had nowhere else to go. He knew the girls were lounging outside on chairs, but he hoped that he wouldn’t have to go around back to get them. I’ll just try the bell, he thought. He rang the bell, but there was no response. He rang it again, and pressed his eye up to the stained glass door hoping to see some movement in the house.

“Ok, ok I’m coming.” Said a voice, Piper’s voice to be exact. Damn! Not exactly the person I want to see first right now, but it’s better than nothing. The door swung open and Piper, looking a little frazzled went to cheerfully great whoever was at the door. “Hi, how can I help….” Piper stopped mid-sentence and looked incredulously at her ex-husband.

“LEO? What are you doing here?” Piper asked, cutting right to the chase. She looked a little worried, as she should be since Leo never came to see her unless something was wrong or someone was in great danger.

“Piper, I need your help.” Leo didn’t wait for her to answer, but he gently pushed himself inside the house and shut the door. He looked worriedly around the house. “Is Steven around?” He asked about the new whitelighter to Piper. Steven was a danger to him now. Anyone with close ties to the Elders could tell them of Leo’s whereabouts and turn him in.

“Steven? No he isn’t around, why?” Piper asked, folding her arms across her chest. Leo walked into the living room and sat down, his head in his hands.

“Piper, you wouldn’t believe me if I told you.” Leo’s muffled response came. Piper walked over to him, sat on the opposite couch and leaned in a little, he elbows on her knees, her eyes never leaving him.

“Try me.” She said. Leo took his head from his hands and sighed. This can’t be all happening now. Seeing Piper for the first time in a year was like something Leo couldn’t possibly describe. He didn’t imagine their reunion of sorts would be like this in the midst of all this turmoil.

“God Piper, I did the stupidest thing. You can’t possibly understand.” Leo uttered back remorsefully, wishing he never did it. “And the funny thing was, it was all because I was watching you.”<br>
“What?!? Watching me Leo? You watch me? What are you, some sick perverted peeping Elder?” Piper replied getting a little miffed.

“No no, it’s not like that. Actually, it is like that.” Leo responded tonelessly. “And I saw that you were getting married, and…and...” He was unable to go on, tears pricking his eyes, his throat closed up with emotion. Piper looked at Leo with the same wide eyed expression that suddenly turned to sadness.
“Yes Leo, I am getting married. And he’s a great guy, everything I could possibly want. But there’s one thing wrong with him. He’s not you. But you wanna know what, I’ve learned to live with that. I’ve moved on Leo.” Piper moved over to Leo on the couch and put her arms around him. Leo shrugged her off. Those words stung more than a thousand bee wasps ever could. A single perfectly formed tear dropped from Leo’s eye and made its way down his ageless face, and fell with startling speed, to the ground. Leo watched the tear splatter on the carpet, momentarily creating a darker wet spot. He quelled the feeling of more tears and tried to regain his composure.

“I know.” Leo responded quietly. The moment was ruined when blue orbs appeared in the middle of the room. “Piper! Freeze him!” Leo shouted as he jumped up. Piper immediately threw out her hands and froze the form of her new whitelighter.

“What Leo? What is it?” Piper asked, perplexed why she had to freeze Steven.

“Piper,” Leo said with dead seriousness, “he can’t know I was here. No one can know. You understand?” Leo said the last words with a harshness that frightened Piper.

“I understand Leo, but why?” Piper asked again.

“I can’t tell you now. I’ll be back Piper, I will.” Leo orbed out and Piper unfroze Steven. She glanced down at the carpet where the stray tear had fallen, but it too was gone.


Update starts here:
Chapter 5: Leo's Return

Leo hung around the manor the whole day, invisible. I can’t risk Steven seeing me, he thought. Parts of the Elders’ perks were the powers. Hey, thought Leo, if I’m going to be killed by Cleaners who knows when, I might as well use those powers while I still have the chance. He kept his body invisible, and watched Piper and his kids all day. Leo walked his invisible self over to the kitchen in the Halliwell Manor. Piper had made a plate of cookies for the boys, and Leo almost started salivating at the delicious smell. That’s my Piper, the chef.

“Wyatt and Chris! Cookies are ready!” She called to her beloved children playing in the conservatory. Wyatt darted passed Leo and Leo gave a doomed frown at the floor. He wanted so badly to reach out to his son, but he couldn’t. He watched little Chris; run in the room as fast as he could on his baby legs, and his heart lurched a little in his chest. The doorbell rang and Piper breezed passed Leo to open the door. Leo could smell her flowery perfume. He followed her to the room and she opened the door revealing her fiancée, Andrew Walker. Leo’s eyebrows furrowed with anger at the man who caused him so much personal pain. Leo wanted so badly to reach out and strangle Andrew Walker so he was no more.

This is how the rest of Leo’s day went. He would watch the routines of his family while pinning to share those routines with them. All I want to do is hug my son! Is that too much? Leo shook an invisible fist and the sky, knowing that the Elders probably knew full well where he was. I just need to catch Piper alone tonight, Leo told himself. And I’ll just have to wait.

That night, as Piper tucked the boys into bed, Leo reappeared in her room. Piper walked back to her room and shut the door carefully behind her. She turned and gave a little yell and jumped with fear.

“God Leo, you scared me to death!” Piper clutched her heart and tried to regain a normal breathing pattern.

“I’m sorry.” Leo shrugged his shoulders and gave her an apologetic look. Piper rolled her eyes and sat on the bed. Leo joined her on the bed and they sat facing each other. Leo sighed; I could sit and stare at her forever. As he watched her he caught a glint in her eye. Does she miss me?

“Ok Leo, cut to the chase. What is the matter? What did you do?” Piper asked concerned. She was a little shocked that she was that concerned for him. She felt her old feelings for her ex-husband stir. She tried her hardest to quell those feelings, and thought she succeeded. But Piper wasn’t stupid, she knew the feelings she had for Leo would never truly go away.

“Um, I, um, I exposed magic.” Leo rushed out. Piper’s eyes widened.

“Leo! Why?” Was all that Piper could say. She was shocked. She never expected her always-levelheaded ex-husband could do something like that.

“I told you why!” Leo snapped back a little too meanly, but he was embarrassed to tell her the real reason. Piper recoiled a little, hurt. “I’m sorry Piper. It’s just I can’t handle all of this alone right now.” Leo shoulders slumped and he felt tears once again prick his eyes. He looked up at his true love and saw Piper reach out her hand and put it on his cheek. She tilted her head and tried to smile.

“Never, alone Leo, never alone.” Piper responded. She leaned in and gently placed a kiss on his lips. Piper backed away when she felt Leo jump under her. Leo was also shocked, but happier than he had been in one year. “Is something wrong?” Piper asked as she turned away ashamed. She screamed to herself, what am I doing?? I have a fiancée, I’ve moved on!! But Piper knew that with a love that she and Leo shared, one could never truly move on.

“Piper, I love you.” Leo said and he leaned in and kissed her again. This time it was Piper’s turn to jump in shock, but instead of pulling away she put her arms around him. Leo was in heaven, in a state of euphoria. He couldn’t imagine this could happen again. All the feelings he tried to suppress came flooding back. It was like the world stopped being, and it was only Piper and the kiss they were sharing. Leo couldn’t ask for anything more perfect except this moment.

Piper’s head was spinning as the kiss deepened and became more intense. What am I getting myself into? Piper asked herself. But she cast off that feeling along with her shirt. Leo traced circles with his fingertips up her side and Piper threw back her head. She unbuttoned Leo’s shirt and threw in on the ground and pulled him on top of her.

Leo kissed her and Piper wiggled out of the remainder of her clothing. She unbuckled Leo’s belt and removed the rest of his clothing. Leo kissed Piper as only he knew how to do, exploring her with ignited passion. Their bodies came together with familiarity and their breathing increased. They reached the crescendo and came slowly down from it. Leo fell asleep holding Piper against his chest.

That night, he dreamed many dreams of her, but all were forgotten. He was roused out of his deep sleep by her movements next to him. He smiled and watched her, tracing her face with his fingers. He quietly slipped out from between the silken sheets and found his clothing. He donned his clothing and orbed out as Piper rolled into his now empty spot.

Birds chirped and the sun filtered into Piper’s room from between cracks in the blinds. A slice of sunlight came to rest on Piper’s eyes. Piper opened her eyes and shut them quickly, groaning and turning away. She groped in the half-darkness for Leo.

“Leo, Leo?” Piper sat up and clutched the sheet to her. Leo was gone. She looked over at the nightstand and saw a bit of folded paper. She picked it up and held it to the sunlight. It was completely empty except for the words Love, Leo. Farther away now, Leo felt Piper’s happiness and smiled to himself.

I don't think it's cliche. I think you handled it well -- Leo doesn't know what to do, and his confusion and pain show. And Piper understanding his pain and wanting to ease it is right on. It'll be interesting to see how she handles Steven now that she's hiding Leo's secret from the "good" guys. Yeah, right. Like the Elders have ever done anything good.

I decided to read this after I saw how many nominations it got for a Fan Fic Academy Award (or as Stephen Turner calls them in the Season 6 Forum--the Charmies!), and I'm very glad I did! This is fantastic! I love both Leo & Piper--that's so very much how they would react! And to have the Cleaners pop in--SCAREY!!! Funny, while Leo & Piper were making love, I kept expecting the Cleaners to pop in during *that*!!! Thanks for allowing them to acknowledge the love we know they'll never forget. But how to get both the Cleaners and the Elders (and Piper's fiance'!) off his back, and let Leo come back to Earth as the girls' Whitelighter? I can't wait to find out.

My only grumble is your putting the full story together rather than doing each chapter as a separate post. I enjoy reading the stories that way, so I can read the reviews for that chapter before reading the next chapter--kinda like watching commercials you actually enjoy!! As is, after reading one or two, I just hit the reply button, coz I was too confused over which chapter each post was reviewing. But that's a minor grumble; do it however you feel best. And please DO IT SOOOOOOOOON!! I love this!!

A/N: I'm starting the story on this page because the comments confuse me on which part its for. Plus its like little commercials between. Sorry it took so long to update, I've been really busy.

Chapter Six:
The Choice

Leo spent the whole morning on a cloud, completely forgetting everything except his beautiful night with Piper. Being with Piper reawakened some of the feelings Leo was trying to repress. I’ve fallen in love all over again, Leo thought. Wait, I was never out of love, whatever, same thing. Leo couldn’t keep his mind straight, and almost orbed “up there” as he was so used to doing. Using my powers at all is rather risky, Leo thought. The other Elder’s could track me with them. Especially the cleaners.

“You didn’t forget about us now did you Leo?” Leo spun around to see one of the Cleaners standing in the deserted alleyway with him.

“W-what? How? Where is the other one?” Leo’s stomach churned as the Cleaner took a step closer.

“Right here.” Said another voice. Leo spun around again and faced the second cleaner.

“What the hell do you want? Leave me alone!” Leo yelled, snapping rather bravely at the two. They shook their heads and gave an unenthusiastic laugh.

“We are here because we’ve come with news.” Said the first cleaner. Leo looked at him perplexedly and backed away a little. Oh god, not again, Leo groaned inwardly.

“We have fixed the little magical mishap you had on the bridge yesterday. No one remembers it, magic is safe, for now.” Cleaner one said again.

“It was more then just a little mishap Leo.” Cleaner two interjected. “But the Elders have agreed to forgive you if you go and have council with them.” Leo shook his head, this could be a trap.

“I’ll go. Just promise to leave me and my family alone.” Leo said angrily. The Cleaners looked bemused.

“We’ll leave you alone as long as you don’t put any of us in jeopardy again. No more of those stunts Leo, or next time you won’t be so lucky.” They disappeared, leaving Leo wondering how they even found him. I’ll ask the other Elders, Leo thought as he orbed “up there.”<br>
It was completely deserted “up there.” The whole gold-gilded hallway was completely silent. “Hello?” Leo said quietly. Expecting no response. It was so quiet that Leo was afraid to speak and even his breathing seemed loud. A ball of bright blue light appeared right before Leo and the form of the Charmed One’s white lighter Steven appeared. Leo greeted the newly corporealized Steven with a cool nod. Steven looked around bewildered.

“Where is everyone?” Steven asked.

“If I knew, I wouldn’t be here right now.” Leo snapped back a little to meanly.

“Woah, Leo what did I do?” Steven asked, raising his arms and backing away. Leo sighed, realizing that he was being unfair.

“Nothing, its just…never mind.” Leo responded looking at the cream colored marble coating the floor of the hallway. He remembered something and suddenly looked up, “Why are you up here anyway?”<br>
“Oh, the Charmed Ones just need some advice about a Larynx Demon. It steals the voices of witches so it can impersonate them, cast spells, and kill.”<br>
“I know what a Larynx demon is Steven.” Leo said, looking down the end of the hallway toward the closed doors. “Just tell them to make a couple of the vanquishing potions, go to the middle of the park, where it lives. And have them sing to lure it out.” With that Leo walked away and Steven shrugged his shoulders and orbed out behind him.

Leo continued walking toward the door that lead to the Council of Elder’s meeting chamber. Why didn’t I think of this before? He cautiously approached the door, his footsteps echoing loudly. He pushed the heavy door open and walked into the room.

The room looked very different from when Leo was last in there. Instead of the usually comfy chairs, there were rows of chairs arranged in the manner of a lecture hall. Leo walked onto the platform and looked up at the chairs realizing an Elder occupied each chair. Leo could feel a shiver run up his spine as all eyes were focused intently on him. The room was also dimly lit this time, and the top rows of faces were obscured, except for the glittering eyes fixed upon him. A shadow moved out onto the platform and joined Leo.

“Leo, you have been called by us to make a choice.” Leo looked over at the speaker, his old friend Azarius, who had on a frown and somber expression. Leo would have thought Azarius was being completely unfriendly if not for his eyes, which gave him away. His eyes showed Leo the sadness and sorrow he felt for Leo. Leo was unable to look into those eyes, fearing he might break down if he did.

“What do you mean a choice?” Leo asked. His knees slightly quaking.

“For exposing magic and endangering us all by returning to Earth, we should have really killed you. However, because of our great respect for your bravery and wisdom, we have decided to give you two choices. You Must, and I repeat must, choose one.”<br>
“Ok,” Leo responded, filling with fear. What kind of choices could they possibly be giving me?

“You must either remain “up here” with us as an Elder and never again return to Earth upon pain of death. Or, you will return to Earth as a mortal.” Azarius said. Letting Leo take in his announcement. This is going to be easy, thought Leo. Of course I’d rather be a mortal than stay up here forever.

“However, if you choose to be a mortal you are not allowed to see the Charmed Ones or their children.” Leo breathe caught in this throat. What am I going to do??

I do hope that the writers of the show read these fan fics, so they can see how very, very much we fans hate what they're making the Elders do to our favorite characters! I hope that somehow in this story that Leo figures out a way to let TCO know what's happened and that they can KICK SOME ELDER A$$! And I hope it happens on the show, too!

This is such a great story, finally letting us see things from Leo's point of view!! And he's acting so much like the Leo we know and love, and not how they're making him act this season! Thanks for showing him to us again!! But, PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE! Update soon!!

Chapter 7: Nothing

Leo stood with eyes wide open, staring at the Elders.

“Leo you must choose. The rest of the magical world needs us and frankly, your holding us up.” Azarius said briskly.

Leo then started to get angry. He clamped his jaw together tightly to prevent the torrent of obscenities from leaving his mouth, but it proved to be a tough job. Leo balled his fists up so tight, that his knuckles began turning white. Breathe Leo Breathe. This is an important decision, you need a clear head. Leo took deep breaths and his fists uncurled as he regained his composure.

“Azarius, other Elders have I had the pleasure of knowing,” Leo appealed to the Elder council. “You can’t spring this decision on me like this. This is going to affect my life. Some of you might have forgotten what it felt like to have a life other than being an Elder. But I haven’t. I need time, please.”<br>
Azarius looked at the other Elders and gave a little bow as if he knew the will of the council without them speaking. He turned to Leo and said, “You have twenty-four hours.”<br>
Leo orbed out without another word. He appeared in the conservatory of the Halliwell Manor. Piper was sitting on a wicker chair, reading a magazine. She didn’t immediately notice Leo, but when she did, she jumped out of her chair.

“Leo! What are you doing here?” She brushed her already wrinkle free pants smooth and fidgeted uncomfortably a little. Leo watched her, smiling. I miss her so much. Everything about her. His eyes momentarily misted over when he realized that he would have to give her up forever.

“I might as well just tell you. The trouble that I was in earlier, I’m being punished for it.” Leo said forlornly. Piper gave a small gasp and covered her mouth with her hand in shock.

“Are-are you going to be k-killed?” Piper stuttered looking obviously distressed.

“No, but as part of my punishment. I can never see you again, or Wyatt and Chris.” Leo resignedly said and his shoulders slumped in defeat. The look on Piper’s face was one of pure horror and sadness. Leo closed his eyes and took a deep breath, willing himself to stay strong. He felt as if at any moment he would crumple. Everything was just too much; Leo’s world was collapsing around him. With Piper’s impending marriage and his punishment, Leo could barely take it all.

“Oh God Leo. Why? Is there something I can do?” Piper rushed out the words, looking around desperately and breathing heavily. A tear slid down her cheek. Leo reached over and stopped it with his finger. He examined the tear at the end of his finger and kissed it tasting the saltiness on his lips and wishing he could ease her pain. Even if that means creating more pain for me.

“There is nothing you can do Piper. Besides, you have to plan your wedding.” Leo added in Piper’s wedding hoping to see her reaction to the reminder of it. Piper gasped again, not a gasp of shock, but a gasp of one that has just remembered something important that he forgot to do.

“I-I can’t possibly get married now. Not with what has been going on.” Piper responded. Imploring to Leo with her eyes to let her help him.

“Honey! I got what you wanted from the store!” Came a voice from the foyer more hateful than any that Leo had ever heard.

Andrew Walker appeared in the conservatory holding two brown bags and wearing a smile. His smile faded as he saw Piper’s face. “Piper what’s wrong?”<br>
“It’s Leo. He’s in trouble. I’m calling off the wedding. We need to help him.” Piper light hiccupped. She wiped her face, smudging her mascara a bit on the corner of her eye, but still looking radiant to Leo. Unnoticed to Leo and Piper, Andrew frowned deeply and shot a look of pure evil and malevolence toward Leo.

“Piper, come into the kitchen honey. We need to talk for a second.” Andrew put down the groceries he was holding and took Piper to the kitchen. Leo sighed for about the fourth time today and tapped his foot impatiently. He tried to listen to what Andrew and Piper were talking about in the kitchen but all he could here was the rumblings of their voice. Leo cringed when he heard Andrew say “Ok. You tell him.” Piper came out of the kitchen and looked at Leo.

“I’m sorry Leo, your right I can’t help you. It would be best if you left, there is nothing I can do.” Piper’s eyes looked at him hollowly as she turned quickly around and walked back into the kitchen. In a fit of sudden anger, Leo kicked a bag of groceries and watched as they flew across the room, hitting the wall and falling to the ground. What is wrong with her?! Leo yelled angrily in his head. He looked back toward the kitchen and saw the green eyes of Andrew Walker staring triumphantly back at him.

Leo orbed out quickly, Piper's words stinging him more than a hundred knives ever could. Without knowing exactly were he was going, he found himself in the familiar Great Hall of "up there." I'm meant to be here now, Leo thought.

Cautiously, he walked down the empty marble hallway his footsteps echoeing too loudly for comfort again. He could tell the Elders knew of his arrival. The council door swung up and Leo stepped inside.

"Back so soon Leo?" Azarius inquired, his brown eyes shining knowingly. Leo felt a wave of something odd through his head. He smiled wanly knowing it was Azarius reading his mind. Azarius returned Leo's smile with a facsimile of emotion. The smile died on Azarius's lips before it could show any compassion or warmth. It was not really in the Elders' nature to get too involved with so many emotions.

"I've made my desicion." Leo lied, looking defiantly out at the glinting eyes of the other Elders. What am I doing? I haven't made my choice yet! Leo could feel a small drop of sweat run its course down the side of his face.

Azarius nodded and turned to the other Elders. "Leo Wyatt, 310th ordained Elder, has made the desicion regarding his penalty for the infraction of the safety and secrecy of magic." Azarius's sonorous voice boomed over the Council.

Azarius turned back to him and held out his arm in a gesturing motion. A voice came up from the top row of the Council Room, quietly at first, but louder.

"Leo Wyatt, what have you chosen? Do you see it? Do you see what will happen? Will you be left to watch nothing, or risk mortality?" Leo looked up at the source of the voice, puzzled. What does he mean? The voice grew quiet and the Elder that spoke leaned back into the shadow so he was completely covered with darkness.

Azarius's eyebrows caught together in half surprise and half confusion. He slightly shook out his head and proceeded with Leo's desicion. "Leo...if you please."

"I choose..." Leo began, his voice quavering. "I choose mortality."

A/N: I am so sorry it's been awhile. I have just been really busy with school. I'll be done with school soon and I can promise you all regular updates!

First of all, soooo glad you updated!

Next, interesting choice that Leo made. But I suppose after being rejected so totally by Piper, he'd rather live a life without her and his family -- and eventually die so the pain would be over -- than to live forever without any contact with her. If I were him, I couldn't watch them have a happy life without me, either.

Now, please tell us this no-win situation can actually turn out OK!

First, WOW!!! I'm *so* glad you decided to update!! I love this story *so* much!!! I definitely understand that when real life gets in the way (like school, or in my case, baseball games or visiting my Dad and keep him company since Mom died!) that that has to come first, but, man, I'm *so* glad you updated!! (Did I say that before?)

There's definitely something rotten in Denmark, or "up there" as the case may be!! That voice coming, the Elders pretending to be understanding, and Piper wanting to be with another guy. Rather than a demon, I'm beginning to think he's another Elder, trying to help them get Leo out of the way!! But I think their plan backfired on them--I think they thought that given this choice, Leo would want to stay with the Elders. His choosing mortality, even mortality without his family, must've thrown them for a total loop!!! I hope this helps them realize how very much he loves all of his family and how very much his destiny it to be with all of them!! But again as always, don't change your story to suit me--do it as you have planned!!

That Elder who started talking...it was really weird, and kinda suspesious.

Oh well...the reason i love this so much is b/c it's about Leo and it's sad...it makes you want to cry..but i love it!

Chapter 9: A mortal life isn't what it used to be

Leo sat as still as a stone, and tried to steady his breathing. He could feel his heart pounding away under his chest. He looked toward the opening of the alley and saw the woman run by. He pressed his back farther into the wall, hoping that the shadows could envelope his bedraggled form. What I would give to orb right now, Leo sighed inwardly, still afraid to make a noise. The stone wall of the alley was cold against the thin material of Leo’s battered shirt, and he momentarily convulsed with the chills.

Leo looked forlornly at his dirty hands, a woman’s leather bag clutched in them. In a moment of self-disgust Leo threw the bag as hard as he could at the opposite wall. Lipstick, pocket pen, wallet, and all the other mysteries woman keep in their bags tumbled out of the bag and landed on the ground. The silver encased lipstick rolled toward Leo and he kicked it away.

“Oh god, look at me.” Leo said quietly. A single tear rolled down his dirt stained cheek. I’m pathetic. A mere shadow of who I was when I had Piper. Piper…Leo reminisced briefly about his ex-wife. If she could see me now. Leo bit his quivering lip sadly.

Two months had passed since that fateful day in the Council of Elders. After his decision, Leo was immediately stripped of his status and powers, and taken to Earth by the Charmed One’s own whitelighter. How ironic, Leo thought on that day. So Steven really does get to replace me. Now, sitting in the alley, clothed in worn and dirty garments, Leo was near tears and more lonely than he could ever imagine feeling.

This was a mistake, Leo thought sadly. Choosing a mortal life was insane of me. I obviously wasn’t thinking how hard life would be if I’m listed as dead. Imagine the shock of the woman at the employment agency when she saw that Leo was listed as deceased. Leo could barely cover that up, and knew getting a job would be impossible now. So here I am, reduced to petty thievery to stay alive, Leo thought ruefully. Imagine the Elder’s shock if they could see what I’ve become. I’m a low-life, a petty thief Leo told himself sadly.

Leo’s stomach rumbled loudly, pulling him away from his thoughts and reminding him that he hadn’t eaten in a day. What I would give for some of Piper’s meatloaf. Leo had spent almost all his time as a mortal depressed and alone, living off what he could scrounge or steal. Might as well get something to eat. I'm not doing any good just sitting here. Leo stood and walked over to the bag with its contents strewn all over. Gingerly, Leo picked the wallet from the ground and opened it. He extracted the two hundred dollars from it and carefully placed it on the ground.

Walking out of the alley, Leo looked up and down the street. He set off at a walk for the nearest diner. Avoiding eyecontact with others, he nearly plowed head on into a nun.

"Excuse me sister," Leo apologized.

"It's quite alright dear boy, no harm done." The nun smiled at him and continued walking up the stairs into St. Joseph's Church. Acting on an urge, Leo walked into the church after the nun.

"Do you need something dear?" The same nun asked. A polite and helpful expression on her face.

"No, just admiring your beautiful church." Leo answered. He looked up at the rich mahogany walls and pews and the sparkling gold of the polished organ. His eyes caught on the wall opposite him. Displayed in an array were baptism announcements, communion announcements, church news, and wedding announcements. Leo's eyes flicked over the bulletin board, but stopped suddenly, as though they were caught on something.

Trembling, Leo stepped toward the board and pulled a piece of paper from it. Breathing heavily, Leo gazed into the eyes of Piper and Andrew. He read the paper over once, twice, three times, not wanting it to be true. The paper read: Piper Halliwell and Andrew Walker are pleased to invite all to attend their holy matrimony services Saturday April 10th 2004.

Piper's face looked absolutely radiantly happy. Leo choked up and a tear fell on the paper. Leo touched his face, wiping away the stray tears before they could wet the paper any more.

"Is something wrong my son?" The nun asked concerned.

"No, it's just she reminds me so much of someone I love that's gone," Leo responded.

"I'm sorry to hear that. I'll leave you alone to think. If you need me I will be by the altar." The nun retreated silently into the shadowy alcove of the altar.

Resignedly, Leo pinned back up the picture of the couple. He walked out of the church feeling worse than ever, his eyes bloodshot from trying to hold in his emotions. Hurt and anger swirled dangerously with sadness and lonliness. Blindly, Leo walked, following the sound of his footsteps, not caring anymore where he went. He looked up, shocked to see he stood at the corner of Prescott Street.

Is it a sign? Am I supposed to Piper? Leo asked himself. She's gone Leo, stop living in the past. Don't be an idiot the Elder's forbidded me to see her.Leo yelled at himself, angered for feeling a touch of hope and longing to see her. But the Elders can't stop what's meant to be, Leo said as he walked up the walkway. Here goes nothing, and he rang the doorbell.

WOW! What an update! And what a horrible situation to find our favorite ex-whitelighter/ex-Elder to find himself! I felt so, *so* bad for him! Now I feel worse for Piper, because I don't trust Steven one single bit!! I pray that somehow Leo & Piper will find their way back to each other, but I don't think it will happen now!! Not with him looking (and probably smelling!) like that!! Poor Leo! This is going to be *so* tough on him--and us!! I just pray Phoebe or Paige will recognize him and help him.

Please update very, very *very* soon!!!

After reading the latest update, I would just like to say, THE ELDERS SUCK SO MUCH! Okay, you want to know why? Well, yeah I get that they were punishing him by stripping his status and powers...but not leaving him with at least something to actually survive life as a mortal...my god HE NEEDS A JOB...but no they prevented that by everyone thinking he was deceased, and therefore unacceptable for employment. The Elders are Evil PERIOD. And I'm telling you, that Andrew guy? Evil. Seriously...what was with that evil and malicious look at Leo that went unnoticed? I can not let that go! As far as Steven is concerned, he COULD be evil, but it seems far too subtle to make a final judgement yet. I take him to be too nonchalant to be taken off the "people who are suspicious" list though.

What I would give for a fairy tale ending...but that will take a while won't it? Leo as a petty thief...threw me for a loop, but hey it's the Elders' fault, I really don't expect much 'usefulness' from them, they truly are and always will be useless!!!

Can you update soon? I have a really big piece of chocolate. No. Seriously. I do have some. Wanna see?

Chapter 10: When in doubt, shimmer out

"Leo?!" Paige said incredulously, but a bit too loud for comfort.

"Shhhh!" Leo responded to his stunned ex-sister-in-law.

"What are you doing here? You aren't allowed to be here anymore!" Paige hissed. She put on the appearance of being almost angry with Leo, but he knew she was doing it for his own good. He wasn't allowed to visit the Halliwell Manor anymore, and he didn't honestly know what would happen to him if he was caught.

"Can I come in?" Leo asked. His eyes darted around, looking for any sign of activity in the Manor.

"Of course you can, and I'm alone in case you were wondering." Paige responded, opening the door widely for Leo and letting him step in the house. She quietly shut the door, unnecessarily since she claimed to be alone.

"Where are Wyatt and Chris?" Leo inquired, a twinge of sadness coursing through his veins. Giving up seeing them was one of the hardest things Leo had to do. Leo saw Wyatt's face in every little boy on the street, momentarily giving him a respite from his hard life. Chris, however, was turning slowly into memory. Sometimes Leo forgot he even had another son. And when he remembered Chris, he kicked himself for never spending enough time with him. For being one of the immortal, Leo constantly chided himself for never using all that time to create the paternal bond he had with Wyatt for Chris.

"At the park with Piper and Andrew. They left ten minutes ago." Paige responded as she led Leo into the living room.

"What about Phoebe and Steven?" Leo questioned, making sure everyone would be out of the house long enough for him to talk to Paige.

"Oh they went out somewhere," Paige replied, shrugging to show she didn't know where, "And if we all aren't careful, we'll have another Whitelighter/Witch situation on our hands." Paige smiled, thinking how fond of those kinds of relationships the Halliwells seemed to be.

Now it was Leo's turn to be shocked. "Phoebe and Steven?? Together?"

Paige shrugged again and gave her famous, I'm pretending not to know anything smile. "I don't really know yet. They both dodge any questions I ask about the two of them."

Paige was clearly not telling Leo the real truth, but he let it slide. Phoebe and Steven's possible relationship was not exactly on the top of his "To Know" list. She's a big witch; she can do what she wants. Or whoever she wants. I just hope she's not making a mistake, and that Steven can be completely trusted, Leo thought to himself.

"So Leo, why exactly are you here in the first place?" Paige asked, finally getting down to business. She wanted to ask him that question the moment she opened the door and saw his dirty form on the front stoop.

"It's Piper," Leo sighed deeply. It's always Piper. "I saw she's getting married this Saturday."

"Yeah she is." Paige replied quietly. The atmosphere of the living room changed to a very subdued one.

"I guess I'm happy for her." Leo lied. "It seems rather sudden, don't you think?"

"Well they have been dating for awhile now. It's about time for Piper to have some happiness." Paige said defending her sister's actions. Paige felt sorry for Leo, but Piper's happiness was more important to her.

"Yeah I guess you're right. But it's just that...that...She can't get married to that monster!!!!" Leo finally burst out. His face colored with embarrasment immediately, but he looked Paige straight in the eye and didn't take back what he said.

"Leo!" Paige admonished. "How can you say that about Andrew? You don't even know him! He's a great guy and he's perfect for my sister." Paige responded, her eyebrows contracting and her face darkening.

Meanwhile, at the park it was a perfect day as perfect could get. From a picnic blanket shaded by a huge old oak tree Piper watch placidly as Andrew chased a giggling Wyatt and Chris. Look at my boys, she thought proudly, they've been through so much. She smiled happily, watching her soon to be husband play so nicely with the boys that meant the world to her. We're so lucky to have Andrew. He didn't run away when he saw my two magical children like the others, Piper mused. Wyatt bounded over to his mother and collapsed,tired, upon her. Piper laughed and hugged him. Chris followed closely and similarly fell laughing upon his mother. A flushed Andrew walked up to her soon after, sitting next to her on the red-checkered blanket and placing a soft kiss on her lips. He leaned back and they enjoyed each other's company. Then, a weird look twisted Andrew's handsome features. Piper sat up quickly.

"Is something wrong?" She asking, putting her hand on his cheek concerned.

"No, not at all. I just have to go to the bathroom." He responded. He gave her a lazy smile and picked himself up from the blanket and walked to the restrooms across the field. Inside the bathroom he splashed water on his face. He walked into a stall and locked it, and promptly shimmered out.

A couple seconds later, Andrew reappeared in a dingy cavern in the Underworld. A hooded figure observed his arrival without a movement. Andrew's eyes uneasily darted around the dimly lit cavern, searching for something. His eyes locked on the shape of the hooded figure clad in black robes.

The figure rose from where it was sitting in the shadows and glided toward him, his movements perfectly silent, and no sound of footsteps on the dirt floor. It stopped infront of Andrew and seemed to regard him from behind the blackness of the hood.

Andrew bent to one knee. "You called."

Sorry! But of course Andrew IS DEFINITELY AND ALWAYS WAS EVIL! Ever since he gave that *weird* look to the both of them in one of the previous updates...then the talk with Piper that made Piper blow Leo off with a very odd blank look. When things are just unbearably too perfect, I always seriously believe something is up. I so wholeheartedly back Leo's outburst because hell yeah, Andrew's truly a *monster*...good for him for letting that all out! But now I'm really thinking that Andrew has all the sisters (don't know about Phoebe, yet...but we'll see, maybe?) wrapped around his little demonic finger (he did shimmer out after all)...to the point that apparently Paige hasn't even realized what his *true* agenda is. I mean, we're talking about Paige here, the sister who kept hating Cole even though he seemed to be trying to prove to them all that he was *good*...and now NOTHING...not even a little hint of agreement with Leo. I'm glad though that she answered the door and that no one thankfully was home...I think Paige is the most reasonable of the sisters...well, especially in this story because I mean if Piper were there (and we all know Andrew's messing with her mind! Evil, evil, evil Andrew...*mutters incoherently*) she would be way too close to the situation and I'm PRETTY SURE Andrew would be there with her. To tail her like a mean little puppy dog who wants to make sure he gets his way...

I HATE ANDREW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Argh...please don't tell me the boys--Wyatt and Chris are wrapped around his *stupid* finger too? Lol, if this were my story A Better Future, I would make Chris definitely find out and KNOW what's really going on. But of course, in your story, Chris is only 2...but lol...sadly plugging my story...

I'm with the rest. I *knew* Andrew was evil, but I guess that I hadn't realized that Leo was aware of it.

I'm also glad that it was Paige that was home. I love the fact that she let Leo in despite him not allowed there--typical Paige, who doesn't seem to care about the rules very much--but if Andrew kept acting like the perfect mortal, who doesn't mind that Piper's magical and so are the kids, and appears to be giving them the normal life that Piper always wanted, well, yeah, I can see where Paige would think that he's really good for her sister. But to do that to Leo--my heart ached for him!!!

I got a giggle out of his reaction towards Phoebe & Steven--typical Phoebs and typical Leo! Seems like once Sam & Patty connected, Halliwell women are meant to fall in love with whitelighters!!

Of course, we want to know who the caped bad guy/gal is this time--who is Steven's boss and what is his agenda? The way things have been going, I won't be surprised if it ends up being one of the Elders!!! But as always, do what you plan, don't change anything to suit me.

But whatever it is, please don't make us wait so long!!! Please update soon!!!

Chapter 11: Who Is Andrew Walker?

The hooded figure made a motion for Andrew to rise. He rose off the dirt floor, staring at his knees, willing the dirt to come off his pants.

"Your late with your report this week Andronus." The demon said to Andrew, turning its back on him and walking calmly to its throne-like chair in the cavern. Concealed in half-shadow the demon looked menacing, his eyes glittering from behind the hood.

"I'm sorry my lord. I was...tied up." Andrew said, thinking of a valid excuse. The hooded figure waved his hand carelessly in the air. The hand looked very fragile and was covered in pale, almost white skin.

"You lie, but that is not my concern now. I need to know how the plan is going." The demon said hurriedly, finally voicing his real concerns.

"The plan is going well." Andrew replied.

"But.." The figure replied.

"But I don't know if I can accomplish what you want." Andrew finished meekly. The hooded demon shifted in his chair and almost rose, but thought better of it and stayed sitting.

"I have given you power Andronus," His master replied, using Andrew's demonic name. "When you came to me you were a weak bounty hunter."

"Yes I know master." Andrew replied, his cheeks reddening out of embarrasment. "But I was a weak bounty hunter with a good plan."

"Yes, I'll give you that." The demon raised his hands and touched the tips of his fingers together. "Brilliant plan, but you came to me because you couldn't do it alone."

"No master, I needed you." Andrew responded, his demeanor subservient.

"Yes, and you still do. Remember, it is I that gives you the power to control the Charmed One's minds." The demon stood, much taller than Andrew. The demon knew that the plan would crumble if the Charmed Ones were somehow able to break free of Andrew's mind control.

"I almost have them right were we want them my lord." Andrew responded gleefully, hoping his master would take well to his news.

"I am glad to hear it Andronus. And when you have married the witch, you know what to do." The demon walked over to a basin, that looked oddly like a well.

"Yes I do." Andrew responded, his eyes following his master.

The demon waved his hand over the basin and a picture of Piper Halliwell appeared on the water's surface. He smiled to himself. This is going exactly how I want it. When Andrew gives Piper the drink before their wedding, Piper will be able to carry the evil child. He grinned malevolently.

"You may go Andronus." The demon said and waved him away, not looking up, intent on watching Piper Halliwell and her sons.

Andrew shimmered back into the stall of the men's room. He opened it and was faced with a very unhappy man.

"Hey buddy, I've been knockin' on that door for almost five minutes." The patron snarled angrily. He pushed out of Andrew's way and into the tiny stall. Andrew walked out into the fresh air of the park and back over to Piper.

WOW and I completely forgot about this one...I feel really bad and not that many people will probably read this because its been so long, so I'm doing this for my personal edification, and anyone else who might be interested. This is a pretty passive chapter, but I'm catching up. The next one will be more action-packed definitely.

Chapter 12: Speak Now or Forever Hold Your Peace

He couldn't stop thinking about her. Her, Piper, his Piper. She's not my Piper anymore, Leo thought dejectedly.

It was the day. That fateful day. The day Piper would finally walk out of his life forever, and into the arms of Andrew Walker. Him, Leo thought disgustedly, the reason my life fell apart. Andrew Walker had almost single-handedly helped ruin Leo's life, and Leo was not a very happy camper.

It was a blustery April morning. The birds were chirping so loudly in the tree above Leo, he was tempted to throw a rock at them. Leaning on the tree with his back, Leo sat in silence, a melancholy look on his face.

"What am I doing here?" He said aloud to himself. "There really is no reason to stick around." Barred from seeing his family, Leo's sole reason for existence, he didn't know what to do.

"I can't keep stealing anymore, but what else am I supposed to do!?" He yelled at the sky, holding out his arms to the heavens. His answer came in the form of a cracking branch, falling right on his head.

"What the...if this day couldn't get any worse." Leo stood up quickly and shook the dead branch of himself. From where he was standing, Leo could see the quaint church that would house the ceremony of Piper Halliwell and Andrew Walker.

Ring! Ring! The church bell's chimed their melodious harmony. Usually a comforting sound, calling patrons to worship. However today, the sound of the church bells was like that of nails on a chalkboard, completely and irrevocably unwanted.

Sighing, Leo began to aimlessly wander the park. His feet walking a path his mind did not follow. Before he could stop himself, Leo looked up from his reverie and found himself at the foot of the church. White roses decorated the church rails in beautiful, intricate garlands.

"Maybe I could just watch...to let her go." Leo said quietly.

Creaking slightly, the church doors gave way and opened ever so slightly. Leo slipped inside, like a phantom. He hung around the back, almost completely out of view.

Leo was greeted by the sight of an almost filled room. The sunlight filtering in from the stained glass windows, created a shimmery iridesence that played over the scene. At the altar area stood Andrew in a handsome tuxedo. However, the focal point was Piper Halliwell, a vision of white in a gown with a beaded bodice that reflected a prism of colors. Her veil framed her delicate features; those features Leo had kissed many times over and would give his life to kiss one more time.

The priest crossed himself. "We are here for the purpose of joining Andrew Christopher Walker and Piper Halliwell together in holy matrimony." So the service began. Leo watched calmly, trying his best to remain silent. His eyes were riveted on Piper. He listened as the couple spoke their vows to each other. It was coming, that line. The line that could give Leo a reason to intervene, to stop all this. To get my Piper back.

"If anyone can think of a reason these two should not be joined in holy matrimony, speak now and forever hold your peace." There it was, Leo's oppurtunity. But he could not.

Piper looked out into the crowd of smiling faces, slightly nervous. She scanned the crowd, hoping no one would interrupt. Her eye caught on a figure standing in the back, and her eyes narrowed. She gasped in shock. Is that...Leo?? She blinked, and looked back where she had seen him, but all that was there was the cold wooden door.

Leo slipped quietly out of the church, tears streaming down his face.

Oh, that was so sad! Come on Piper, say something, run away from the altar, go after him!!! You can't marry this jerk when you know you still love Leo. That's just wrong!

I may have to cry if she says "I do" to anybody but Leo.

Fantastic job, 4CO!! I was hoping that you hadn't forgotten this story!! Even with no action, I *loved* this, coz the emotions were so strong they made me want to cry, and I love that better than action. Not that I won't enjoy that, too!!! Looking forward to it--please update soon!!

There was definitely a lot of emotion in this chapter and the description of the scene was beautifully done. It seemed like the reader was the overseer of the events and there was an unsettling calm when Leo watched the ceremony. Too bad he didn't stop the wedding...he should have! But I guess since Leo doesn't exactly know how messed up Andrew is, he had no good reason to intervene.

Can't wait to read the action-packed chapter!
