Charmed by Love 2--The Choice (Completed 8/16)

“Mrs. J’s not opening the camp,” you pointed out.

“That doesn’t end it,” Prue pointed out. “It just stalls it.”<br>
“You guys are behind and need to catch up,” Leo pointed out. “Book of Shadows--get a working knowledge of this demon before you face him.”<br>
I glared at him, for the first time seeing what had made you so angry. “Hmmm, said like an unfeeling professional. This is personal for us, Leo.”<br>
And very bitterly, you added. “Leo doesn’t do personal anymore; he just does his job.”<br>
He looked at you, pain in his eyes, but nodded. “Now that I’ve done it, I guess there’s no reason for me to hang around,” and he orbed out.

I turned towards Prue. “OK, he’s gone. Now you can explain.”<br>
“Explain what?” she asked.

“Why you’re acting like all of this doesn’t faze you, Prue. We are talking about how our mother was killed.”<br>
But before she could reply, we heard someone screaming for help.

“Is that Mrs. J.?” you asked.

“She’s in the water!” I cried, as I spot her, and we ran out onto the dock. Prue remained standing on the edge.

When we reached the edge of the dock, we knelt down. I reached out my hand. “Your hand!” I cried. “Give me your hand! Prue, what are you doing? We need you!” but Prue just stood there staring.

Just then a guy came running. “Get off the dock! It’s her! It’s taken her over!” as Mrs. J. went under the water for good.

“Oh, my God!” I cried.

“Get off the dock now!” cried the man, who must be Sam. Just then water squirted up in a huge spray, reaching for us on the dock. Screaming, we ran off the dock to where Sam stood next to Prue. “Why didn’t you listen to me?” he demanded. “I told you to stay away from the lake. It only kills in the water. Why didn’t you listen to me? Nobody ever listens.”<br>
Prue stared at him. “We know who you are.”<br>
He shook his head. “You shouldn’t listen to people in town. They’ll just tell you I’m crazy, but I’m not.”<br>
“We know you worked with our mother,” you told him.

“And lost her.” I pointed out.

“I knew you’d come,” he said it. “I knew it. And then when I saw you,” and he turned towards Prue. “It’s in your eyes, your mother. So I knew who you were.”<br>
I glared at him. “You have no right talking about her. You lost that right when you lost her. Why are we dealing with him?” I asked you two.

“Because we need to know what he knows,” you pointed out, unconsciously sounding a lot like Leo. “Sam, you have to tell us about the demon.”<br>

wowie...another wonderfully written part (chapter?) well, there's a big difference between the script and the way you write it (well, for me, there's a huge difference).. i am so loving it

and this line must've been so painful for our fave whitelighter

Yes, poor Leo. And poor girls. And poor Sam, to have Phoebe throw that in his face, like he hasn't thought of it every day since Patty died. He's beat himself up more than her daughters ever could. Great update!

You're absolutely right, both of you, and you're both fantastic!!!

Red, I got such a kick out of yours! I'm not sure why I'm calling these Parts and not Chapters; you really could use either word. I think it's coz Part is shorter!! But thanks for saying you like the way I write it better than the way the screenwriters do. I don't know if I'd agree, but I'm glad you think so. I hope it's because I'm taking it from Phoebe's point of view and telling it to Piper, putting *you* in Piper's shoes! And don't worry, you can still take a bath--this demon's kinda like the Loch Ness monster--it only kills in that lake! So you're safe.

And SciFi, you're absolutely right. I'm not sure why I love this eppi so much when there's so much pain for everyone involved, but somehow I do.

And here's Part Forty-One

Sam shook his head. “No, no, you can’t fight this thing. It’s under water but it has a … it, it thinks. You never know where it’s gonna be, who it’s gonna be. Sometimes it takes over its victim’s bodies to lure you to the water, like it just did. Sometimes it doesn’t. Leave now, please! Forget you ever came here. Forget you ever knew.”<br>
“How can we do that?” Prue asked. “I mean, it’s out there killing. We can’t just walk away.”<br>
“You really wanna know what I know?” he asked. “I know you’re not strong enough or well versed enough in your powers to take this thing on.” He turned towards you. “I know that you have the same power as your mother. The power to freeze.” He turned towards Prue. “And you know what happened when she tried to use it.” And Prue did, because unlike you and me, Prue was there on the dock when they put Mom in a bodybag. Then to all of us, he finished, “And I know you'll let your emotions get in the way, you'll lose focus and you’ll lose your life. That’s what I know.”<br>
“Well, you obviously don’t know us that well,” Prue snarled. “Because we’re not leaving."

“Strong. Willful. Just like Patty.”<br>
“I’m nothing like my mother!” Prue cried.

“But you’re here,” he pointed out. “Just like she was.”<br>
“But we’ll beat it,” Prue declared. “Now, you have two choices," she warned. "You can either get on board or get the hell out of the way!”<br>
He looked at the three of us. “The Power of Three. OK, she told me about that. OK. If you’re gonna do this, then you’re gonna need me to help you.”<br>
“All right, enough of this,” I declared. “How do we kill it?”<br>
“You don’t,” and only much later did we find out that he blew magical dust at us, telling us to go home, go directly to bed and totally forget about coming to the lake, discovering the demon or meeting him, because he couldn’t let it happen again. If it wasn’t for you suddenly itching everywhere, just like Prue when she had poisin ivy--which she got at camp...

But before we could do a thing about it, the doorbell rang, and it was Dan, standing there holding a tray with bowls of cereal on it. He stared at you. “You don’t look hungry; you look confused, and you’re contagious.”<br>
“Dan,” you asked. “What are you…?”<br>
“Breakfast,” he reminded you. “Me, you, here, remember?”<br>
You shook your head. “Uh, everything’s a little hazy this morning.”<br>
“Well, is there anything I can do?” he asked, just as Leo orbed in behind the door. You glared at him, then looked back at Dan. "You can hold that thought,” and you froze him as you closed the door.

“What are you doing here?” Leo cried out in horror and fear.

You blew off some steam in frustration. “What are you doing here? I live here. What, are you checking up on me and Dan? I thought we talked about this.”<br>
“It has nothing to do with him. Why aren’t you up at the lake?” as Prue and I walked into the foyer.

“What lake?” I asked.

“Look,” he told us in agitation. “Nobody has shut down the camp, so the kids are on their way there now!”<br>
We all stared at him in confusion, not having a single idea what he was talking about.

This is interesting...I remember seeing this episode and I was very intrigued by Sam's character. I had only seen him in Sam I Am and I was glad to see the first eppy he was in. I love the fact you're putting it in Phoebe's voice and telling it all to Piper. You're right, it is fun to read the 'you' parts as you...like an interactive story.

I really like Phoebe, I believe she was at her best the first two seasons, and at first she did handle the Cole situation okay, but then it had just gone too far...

When I saw the very first episode of Charmed, I was literally shocked and amazed at how great Phoebe was, I immediately wondered why she couldn't have been as good later on. I simply loved the fact that Phoebe was the first to discover the book because of her curiosity and how into she was with the whole witchcraft thing. Since I'm also the youngest, I had an easy time identifying with her, and cheered her on when she annoyed Prue (like I used to with my sister)...frankly, I put Prue last on my list just based on the first eppy. Her acting, yes is something to not take lightly and is well-done, but...I didn't feel it at first.

Oh, sorry if I went so off topic, I just felt like voicing that and I'm just so thrilled about how you put this story together!

A/N: I thought Piper's black nailpolish was really cool that first eppy. Why oh why did they have to take it out?

Well, hi, Silvermoon! Welcome to my small but very loyal audience, the reason why I keep posting!! What made you decide to join our group? Did you just read the part that has to do with P3 H20 or did you read the whole thing, including Charmed by Love 1?

I'm glad you also like this letting Phoebe tell the tale and let the reader feel like Piper; I know I had fun with it when I wrote it and I'm always glad when other people feel that way.

I'll admit that Prue was always my favorite CO, probably because I'm the oldest of my family and I empathize with her. But I loved the way it was set up in the beginning, with Prue taking care of the family, Piper the one in love, and Phoebe the one most interested in the whole witchcraft thing and helping out. As Patty will put it in the last eppi Charmed by Love will cover, Prue was the protector, Piper the heart, and Phoebe the one who felt everything. My favorite CO was probably the whole Power of Three; I loved the whole sisters-who-happen-to-be-witches thing.

I truly hated the whole Cole-the-Source bit, which is why I stopped the story at the wedding rather than at Wyatt's birth as my friends, the original readers, wanted me to, and I don't feel like the show has really rebounded since. I keep watching more because it's what I do, and my friends like watching it, too, so then we can discuss it. It's also why I love reading Fan Fic, because I truly love the characters in the stories more than the ones on TV! It wasn't until I read SciFI's The Ties That Bind and finally understood Chris a little better that he became more than that cute brat who tried to get rid of Leo (Leo's definitely my favorite character, so I *hated* Chris at the beginning with the purest of passions! It's also part of the reason why I've disliked the last couple of seasons--that's not Piper's Leo!!) and actually started liking Chris. That was also around the time of I Dream of Phoebe and you put all of that together...

Anywho, I hope you decide to keep reading; it's great to have you in here, you always write such interesting reviews! And, now, PLEASE, pass some of that chocolate!!! I'm also a chocoholic!!!

Now, see, here's another reason I liked Sam -- he wasn't above using memory dust, a rather drastic measure, to protect Patty's girls. Man, he loved her, and by extention, her daughters. It's so sad!

First of all, thank you, both Red & SciFi, for including Charmed by Love for you Fan Fic Academy Award nominations! I truly appreciated it. SciFi, I howled when you nominated it for most accurate--with all the categories I threw it in, I never even thought of that one!!

Also thank you for the review, all three of you!!

Aurora, nice to see that you're still reading this. I'm sure there's a tinge of jealousy in Leo watching Piper & Dan, but right now, I think our favorite angel is more worried about those young campers who are about to be food d'jour for that demon! Man, I loved him back when he was like that!! And, man, I miss him when he was like that!!

I'm glad you're enjoying this eppi, Red; it's heart-breaking, but it shows off everyone's characters so nicely; I think it's why I love it so much. I'm not sure if saying she's not like her mother showed Prue's strength or her strong denial, but to me it was definitely one of the most dramatic moments in the entire season, one where there were plenty of those! I'm also glad you can put yourself in Piper's shoes--for me, stories are the most fun when you can do that!!

And, SciFi, you're absolutely right; this does show how very much Sam loved/s Patty and how much he's tormenting himself for her death by how he's trying to save her daughters. But in doing that he's risking the lives of all those campers, and unlike future seasons, during this time, saving the innocent was the most important thing in TCO's lives, so they're not going to appreciate what Sam did, as you'll see in the next section, Part Forty-Two (Red, my only problem with typing Part, is I keep typing Party and having to fix it!! I think I want some of Silvermoon's chocolate!!)!

Leo sighed. “He did it, didn’t he?”<br>
“Did what?” Prue asked.

“Who did what?” I asked, totally confused. “Who is he?”<br>
“Sam. He used a powder, sorta like a supernatural mickey. He must’ve gotten it from--”<br>
“Mom,” Prue finished, agony in her voice.

Leo smiled. “Good, it’s fading. Now, concentrate. It’s sorta like remembering a dream. OK, the lake, the kids, the demon, Sam.”<br>
“Sam?” you asked. “Why would he do this to us?”<br>
“To keep history from repeating itself.”<br>
Just then you remembered something, or rather, someone. “Oh, just a sec, you guys scoot." And you waved at all three of us. "Go, go, go!”<br>
Leo and Prue walked into the living room, but, of course, I stood near the door. I watched as you opened the door just in time to see Dan unfreeze.

“Dan,” you told him. “I know we were supposed to do this, this morning, but I’m really not feeling up to it.”<br>
He grinned. “Well, I’ll cook while you scratch.”<br>
You smiled sadly. “I can’t, there’s just some stuff, family stuff going on.”<br>
He smiled back. “Say no more. I completely understand.”<br>
You smiled. “I’d kiss you, but--”<br>
“But you’re contagious,” he agreed. “Tomorrow. I’m just glad you can tell me things.”<br>
You sighed. “Well, I feel like I can tell you anything,” as he left. You closed the door and sighed. “Except that there’s a demon.”<br>
“And that you’re a witch,” Leo pointed out. You looked at him. “Sorry, that was--”<br>
You smiled sadly and finished his sentence. “--the truth.”<br>
Just then Prue and I walked back in.

“We should go get dressed,” you declared.

Prue shook her head. “The only place you will be going, contagious girl, is back to bed.”<br>
“But--” you cried.

“But nothing,” declared Big Sister Prue, never sounding more like Mom (or Grams) than when she was in that mode. “Leo was right before. You just look in the Book of Shadows for this thing’s Achilles’ heel.”<br>
“But what if there isn’t one?”<br>
I answered that one. “Then we’re screwed.”<br>
Prue nodded. ‘But we aren’t yet!”

Oh, that's nice how that update had my favorite moment from that eppy! I loved how Leo was with the Dan & Piper 'romance'..."Yeah, Piper you tell him everything...except the fact you're a witch and battle demons every once in awhile..." I miss that Leo! But, I still think he's in there somewhere. I'm glad that now, as of late, he's becoming more proactive...I had a feeling with how hard he held on to Piper and their meant-to-be relationship that he would not stay at the sidelines and be all pacifist!Whitelighter. He kicked hard this season and I hope he continues!!!

And I believe this eppy was a little before Dan starting getting really unlikable with the stalker! jealousy and annoying investigation into Leo's nature...I wanted Leo to sock it to him at that point!

I still love the way you use Phoebe's voice...it's like I'm writing the story! Lol...not really, because you do it so much better.

Please continue!




--I saw Just Harried today and I really think that solidified this statement, "PRUE!!! Sheesh. Way to ruin a wedding!"

I miss this Leo, too. And the thaw in Piper's attitude when she acknowledges that he's just stating a fact was nice. If they could just time their thaws to coincide, then we'd be set!

Silvermoon, I'm so glad that you're still reading this!! I agree with you totally--this was within my favorite part of the Dan-Piper-Leo triangle--when I was truly as much in love with Dan as I was with Leo and could understand Piper's quandry, since Dan appealed to her desire for a normal life, while Leo, of course, knows her and loves her as a witch. Especially after reading Future Consequences, I can't help wondering what may have happened had Piper been honest with Dan and if he could've accepted her Charmedness, the way Victor was able to for Patty and all of the other males who married Warren/Halliwell witches!! Would we even have to worry about Wyatt or Gideon? Sounds like an interesting story!! Hmm. Maybe I'll put it in Holly's story idea thread!! And had Piper been honest with Dan and if he could've accept her Charmedness, Dan wouldn't have gone stalker when we all wanted both Piper & Leo to sock him!! (Sorry, Red, hope we didn't spoil anything!!!)

I'm also glad you get to feel like you're your favorite CO--Phoebe--by my putting you in her shoes!!

You are so correct, SciFi; it always seemed like when Piper *wanted* to start thawing towards Leo, he'd turn back into "business only" and that would take care of that!! Or at least until...WHOOPS! No, I don't want to spoil it for Red!!

Speaking of, Red, I'm amazed that this part makes you want to party!! It makes me cry!! Of course, I know what's coming and you don't, but, no, that would be telling!! Let's just say that I'm glad you're enjoying it!! But please tell me--what's a "corporeal" Fan Fic award contest? I don't get it!!

I wish they still had that emoticon that would hit himself in the forehead, coz that's about how I feel!! Now I can say I'm glad it put a smile on your face! Here's Part Forty-Two (Party Forty-Two?--Pass the chocolate, Silvermoon!!!)

Later Prue and I pulled up to the lake in your car. As we got out, I asked, “How are we doing in the plan part?”<br>
“I think that I just got one.” she replied.

I grinned. “I love when you take charge.”<br>
She glared, but continued, “OK, you know that powder that Sam used on us? Maybe we should use it on the kids. Make them temporarily forget that they want to go in the water.”<br>
I nodded. “And that’ll keep them safe until we find out how to dehydrate this bastard.”<br>
Prue nodded. “Perfect.”<br>
Suddenly I spot something that scared the tar out of me. There were kids playing near the water! The kids were already here! “Oh!” I cried. “Pre-pubescent demon food!”<br>
Prue took over again. “OK, go keep them out of the water. Tell them anything. I’ll deal with Sam.”<br>
So as I ran towards the kids, Prue went back to Sam’s place. She later told you and me what happened. When she walked in, Sam was sharpening an axe. He looked at her. “I knew I should’ve given you a stronger dose.”<br>
Prue marched up to him. “Not only did you put my sisters and me in danger, but you risked innocent lives. How could you?” she accused.

He shrugged, not in the least bit penitent. “I did what I had to do to protect you and your sisters.”<br>
“Not that,” Prue told him, still angry. “This. All these years. How could you just sit here and watch them die? People that you were meant to protect.”<br>
“Well, in case you didn’t get the memo, I’m not one of the good guys anymore.”<br>
“Part of you is. Part of you always will be.”<br>
“I’ve done nothing but make your life difficult. What makes you so sure?”<br>
“Because you saved me. You still have whitelighter instincts, Sam. You may have clipped your wings, but this still gets you; it matters.

He turned away. “What matters most was taken from me twenty years ago.”<br>
Prue nodded. “Then we have something in common.”<br>
Now he turned back at her. “You think I choose to stay here, to watch? That, that I get my kicks this way? I’ve been waiting for you.”<br>
“Why?” Prue wanted to know.

“I knew you'd come, and I had to be here to stop you. To, to save you.”<br>
Prue nodded, smiling sadly. “Because you couldn’t save Mom. Sam, I need the powder, and then I’m gonna need for you to tell me how Mom was gonna vanquish this thing. If you’re gonna defeat your demon, Sam, then you’re gonna have to help us defeat the one out there. We need your help.”<br>
He stared at her for the longest time, then sighed. He crossed the room and opened a drawer, taking out the jar of powder. He turned back towards Prue. “I’ll try to face mine. The question is can you face yours?” and Prue didn’t tell us how she responded as we just reached over and hugged her.

Awww!!! Sisterly-bonding, always gets me. I really loved the tone and mood of this...it seemed sad...and I felt so sorry for Sam, but I'm glad he mustered up the resolve to face his 'demons'. But he was right in also giving Prue a little push by wondering if she could possibly ever face her mother dying...hey, I just watched Death Takes A Halliwell today, and I was kinda doubtful if Prue had really moved on, and was altogether okay with Death taking her mother. I mean, yeah she did stand by and let the Angel of Death take the inspector without interfering...so it seemed like she had, but at the very end she was apparently still in the mourning stage because she was crying. That moment just changed my idea of if Prue had completely moved on. Hhmm, I guess sometimes you can't really completely move on. That episode was screaming foreshadowing/foreboding! anyhow...I mean Prue did die several episodes later...when Death was telling her she was on his list, I was like, "Wait a couple of episodes, Prue...you'll see..." Sad, sad episode, though.

Anyway, again, I loved the sisterly moment at the end when Prue had recapped her talk with Sam with the others. That was a nice touch!

Oh, and thanks Esmeralda for being so *shocked* lol when you found I was still following your story! I think reading this makes one kinda reflective for some reason...probably because someone is literally looking back on the past through words. A unique way to storytell, I suppose!

Oh, thank you so very much both of you!! I agree with you totally, Silvermoon. I also saw Death Takes a Halliwell today on TNT and it both gave me the shivers, thinking how very soon Death *would* take that particular (MY FAVORITE!!!) Halliwell, and made me cry for the pain Prue was still suffering over the loss of her mother! I think this story (P3 H20) helped her face her demons, helped her actually face the fact that her mother was gone. But she continued to be angry at Death until this eppi when, hopefully, had she lived, she would've been able to mourn and then move on, the way her sisters have mourned her death and moved on. What I personally liked about Death Takes A Halliwell is that the Elders didn't want Leo to tell Prue about the Angel of Death, because she needed to learn the lesson on her own. Back then, the Elders were truly the Elders--good people who gave good advice and who seemed to love TCO, even when what they thought was for the girls' best interests wasn't the same as the girls thought!!! But I never remember wanting to kick their !@#$% a$$es the way so many of us want to now. And I think *these* Elders would have known that Cole had been taken over by the Source. Think how different Season 4 could've been, had they known in time!!! All part of the reason why Charmed by Love ends with the wedding.

I'm so glad that you're enjoying this, and that you like the perspective I've given the story--Phoebe telling the tale to Piper. I remember walking home from work, muttering at myself because on the show the previous night, Piper acted as if nothing was wrong, still afraid that Leo wouldn't come back, and if so, how I wish there was a novel out telling the full tale of their love story, and also still mad that they couldn't show my favorite Charmed One during the eppi, Cat House, when, just like in that eppi when Phoebe tried to get a hold of Piper, sitting at the shrink's, I could hear her voice calling "Piper! This is your sister, Phoebe!" and I took it from there!! My friends, who came to Charmed late (starting with the 5th season), wanted to know what they had missed, and this was the perfect way of doing it, especially because just about that time, TNT started back at the beginning again. So I taped each episode and transcribed the dialogue that had to do with Leo & Piper, and you're reading what I came up with!! Again, I'm so glad you're enjoying the way I'm doing it. And just for that I'm going to post one of my favorite parts of the whole story, Charmed by Love, one that totally breaks my heart and makes me cry each time I see it (and this one, I *kept* on tape!),b ut that I still love! Get out your tissue, girls; here's the *real* Part Forty-Three!

Meanwhile, Piper, you were still back at the Manor, looking through the Book. When you couldn’t find anything, Leo tried. Later, after Prue told us about her and Sam, you told us about you and Leo, tears in your eyes before you even started.

Leo sat at the kitchen table, which held the Book and put his hands above the Book. His hands turned golden, and the pages began flipping by themselves. But they flipped all the way, the cover finally closing shut. He tried it again, but the same thing happened. He sighed in frustration, as he told you, “I can’t find anything.”<br>
You shrugged. “Well, then you don’t have to stay with me. Looks of sympathy are not part of your job description.”<br>
“No,” he admitted.

Then you got curious about something. “Um, why didn’t your healing touch work? I mean, what, you can save a life but you can’t cure poison ivy?”<br>
He shrugged. “It’s not really up to me. I can only heal when They allow me to, when I’m meant to.”<br>
That got you mad. “Well, why weren’t you meant to help me? Why wouldn’t I be meant to help my sisters?”<br>
Again he shrugged. “There’s always a reason. Maybe you’re meant to be here.”<br>
While he was talking, you were lazily looking through some of the papers that we had brought back with us. Suddenly you cried out in surprise. “Dear Sam? Leo!”<br>
“What is it?” He asked.

“Letters that my Mom wrote to Sam. I must’ve forgotten about them because of the powder. Leo, listen to this," and you read the letter: "Dear Sam, Where are you? It’s been two weeks since you were last here, and I wonder are you all right. Do they have you off guiding someone? And I wonder when they will send you back to San Francisco. To me.” and when you told us, both Prue and I sighed at the romanticism.

“Are these---?”<br>
You nodded. “Love letters,” as we all realized that you were even more like Mom than we originally thought.

Without realizing what you were doing, you and Leo brought the letters into the conservatory, sitting on the cane chairs in the sunlight and began reading them. Somehow you each chose the right things to read.

You remembered one specific letter that Leo found and read to you: “What I wouldn’t do for what other people consider ordinary. A conversation that gets finished; a night spent uninterrupted. A night with you.” and again both Prue and I sighed, thinking that you or Leo could’ve written the same thing.

Then you remembered another letter that you read back to Leo: “Sam, yes, you were clear. My eyes were open to the difficulties, the risks, but my answer is the same as it was when you were still here with me. No one understands me the way you do; no one can.” Then you looked up at Leo. “It’s like I could’ve written these.”<br>
He smiled. “I wish you had.”<br>

Prue is also my favorite Charmed One Esmeralda! lol I don't know why but I always feel so bad for her when she's upset, moreso than for Piper or Phoebe although I like their characters a lot too! I also saw Death Takes a Halliwell today and it does make me very reminescent of the episode you're posting about now.

The chapter you just posted- one of my favorite Piper and Leo moments! I thought it was so cute how they were each taking turns speaking as Patty and Sam. I'd like to see when you write about their wedding. That should be quite funny to read from Phoebe's point of view.

You were right, Esmeralda. I definitely need a hanky. That is one of my all-time favorite P/L moments. If I didn't know before, I knew then that they were destined to be together, if for no other reason than to rectify the cosmic tragedy that was Patty and Sam.

I really do love parallels...Patty & Sam vs. Piper & Leo...even though, yes Sam was more of an affair and led Victor to distinctly hate whitelighters...there's just something about that echo that gets me. That this happened before, which makes your relationship (Piper & Leo) all the more likely to happen. The scene where they both read the love letters to each other just made it all the more meaningful, deep, and truly real. It was a beautiful moment. And then Leo's admission that he wished Piper had written letters like this, simple, but genius...it seemed to sum up the moment perfectly. How could I ever forget this scene?



"Mommy's having a panic attack right now. I'll read to you later, alright?"
5-year old Chris grumbles and throws the book out the window.

Thank you so much, all of you! Yes, this is also one of my favorite P/L moments, although Piper is about to destroy it!! But before I do, I want to agree with you, Silvermoon, that I also like parallels, and I loved how much this one showed the similarities between Patty & Sam and Piper & Leo. At this point, SciFi, I truly wanted Piper & Leo to get together, for Patty & Sam's sake; when the eppi was over, I wasn't so sure!!

Anyway, get ready for Piper to spoil the mood, because here comes Party Forty-Four!

“What would it have changed?” you asked, fatalistically.

Then you noticed a different letter. “Leo, looks like this one is about our water demon! Listen to this: ‘You can’t be with me up at the lake. This demon is too strong, and I can’t risk losing you, not for myself or the others you protect. They must as always come first. You know I’d never face this demon if I didn’t think I’d be home in time for dinner to see my girls, to see you’.” You looked up, tears in your eyes. “She never came home. When did this happen? Where was Dad?”<br>
“It was after your father left. It’s not why he left, Piper,” and you nodded, understanding. “Your sisters need to know about Sam, your Mom, Piper.”<br>
You nodded. “And if this demon is as strong as she thought, then they’re going to need me, need the Power of Three. But how do we get there in time to--” and then you thought of something. “Can you? Can you take me there? I mean, is that breaking the rules?”<br>
He shrugged with a sad smile. “What rules haven’t we already broken? I’ll have to hold you.”<br>
So you two stood up, held onto each other and he orbed you both out.


Meanwhile, I’d used the powder to keep the kids out of the lake, by telling the kids to go to bed, thinking, “Land, good! Water, bad! Land, good! Water, bad!”, but we were still trying to figure out how to vanquish the demon.

When Sam came out to join us, Prue looked at him. “It’s time, Sam. We need to know. How was Mom gonna vanquish it?"

“I don’t know!” he cried out. “I failed! I lost her! Isn’t that enough?”<br>
Just then you two orbed in. You looked very pale. “Whoa, that felt really…all right, oh, lying down now,” and we helped you sit down on a beachchair.

“What are you doing here?” Prue asked.

“He loved her,” you said, staring at Sam.

“What?” I cried. “Who loved who? What is she talking about?”<br>
“Sam,” said Leo. Then he turned and looked at Sam. “We found the letters, Sam.”<br>
“Patty and I…”

You finished, looking at Leo, not Sam, “--fell in love.”<br>
“In the letters she told you to stay away,” Leo was still looking at Sam. “Not to go to the lake.”<br>
“But I did,” Sam told us. “I wouldn’t have for anyone else. But I should’ve followed the rules, not fallen in love. I never would’ve been there. I never would’ve distracted her, and she never would’ve died,” and there were tears in his eyes.

For the first time, I felt some sympathy for this man who lost our mother. “You loved her,” I said softly, “and you blame yourself.”<br>
“Don’t you blame me?!” he yelled. “Every day I wake up, and for just a second, just a second, I think maybe it didn’t happen! Yes, I blame myself!”<br>
Prue smiled at Leo. “We have to see passed our emotions to deal with this, Sam. So do you.”<br>
“Even so, it doesn’t change the fact that I didn’t see it happen. I tried to warn her and she froze me.”<br>
“Why?” asked Leo.

But you already knew, as you continue to smile sadly at Leo. “Because she was trying to protect him.”<br>
That got Sam mad. “Protecting was supposed to be my job! I couldn’t help her; I don’t know how I can help you; I didn’t see what happened!"

Prue took a deep breath. “I know somebody who can see anything," and she looked straight at me!

oh my Goddess! i am so sorry to have posted on such a late time! i missed three wonderful part(y)s!!! grr... i just got home from a resort with *guess what* no computers!!! my family and i spent two days there so i wasnt able to check the boards...but, man, was i itching when i finally got back home to open my computer!

esmeralda, again, these updates have made me smile, made me sniff, and made me angry... you have written such emotion-invoking parts, and all i can say is ...this episode is fast becoming my favorite because it contains such depth and powerful emotions. it has a certain *oomph* to it and im glad that i got the chance to have actually missed the episode and got to read it from you

this line has absolutely broken my heart and my sympathies fly out to Sam...poor poor Sam, he had to endure long years suffering, blaming himself for Patti's death..

and what an absolutely marvelous revelation! we know (from season 4) that Sam and Patti had a daughter, but i didnt know that it was from this episode that the writers introduced Sam and Patti's relationship...hhmm is this a turning point for Leo and Piper to rethink about their love???

WHAT A COMPLIMENT!!! Although I hope you somehow get to see this eppi someday; it's visually beautiful and sad and touching, too!

The thought that Sam had to lose *both* Patty and Paige--Patty to death and Paige to adoption--breaks my heart for him! I'm so glad she was able to help give him back his dignity in Sam I Am!! And how will this eppi change Piper and Leo's relationship? You'll have to wait and find out!!!

“Oh, no!” I cried, as I realized Prue’s intent. “Wait a minute! You tiptoe around the subject of Mom; you deny looking like her; you can’t even go to the end of that dock because you’re afraid to walk in her footsteps, and now you want me to relive her last moments? How is that fair?”<br>
“It’s not,” Prue said softly. “None of this is. Mom’s death; Sam’s guilt. But I’m asking you to help me end it.”<br>
We stared at each other for a long time before I finally walked over to Sam and held out my hands. He took them and immediately I was hit by a premonition, but more like a retrocognition, since I was seeing the past.

I saw Mom kneeling on the dock. She was grabbing something. Suddenly Sam came running towards her.

“Patty!” he cried. “Look out!”<br>
I watched as Mom turned and froze him. As she did, the water demon rose up, pouring water all over Mom, then actually into Mom. I could feel the thing drowning me--drowning Mom! So I forced myself out of it, still coughing hard, as I relived Mom’s death.

You guys managed to help me catch my breath back, then you asked. “Did you see her?”<br>
I nodded, tears in my eyes. “It entered her, and it drowned her from the inside.”<br>
That made all of us shudder, but somehow Prue managed to keep her emotions under control. “Phoebe, in your vision, what was Mom doing?”<br>
I tried to remember. “She was using something on the dock. Some... a wire?”<br>
“Power cable?” Leo asked.

You nodded. “Makes sense. Electricity is the only thing that separates water particles.”<br>
“So, what do we do differently?” I asked.

“Maybe nothing,” Prue suggested. She turned towards Sam. “Sam, would Mom’s plan have worked if she had finished it?”<br>
Sam nodded. “Absolutely.”<br>
You looked at him, confused. “But you said her power, my power, doesn't work against this demon.”<br>
“So that’s it,” as it struck me. “We use Mom’s plan with one difference. The witch at the end of the dock is not gonna be the one with the power to freeze.”<br>
Prue nodded. “It’s gonna be me.”<br>
We discussed for a bit how you would do it, then you asked, “Are you ready?”<br>
She nodded. “Yeah.”<br>
“You don’t have to do this,” Sam told you.

Prue shook her head. “Yes, I do.”<br>
“Just focus on the demon,” I suggested. “Not what this is about.”<br>
She looked at me. “Yeah, right”.

Sam grinned at Leo. “Forgot how good this feels,” as Prue began walking towards the dock.

“Really?” How’s it feel to be mortal?”<br>
Sam looked at him curiously, as you did, too. “Why would you want to know?”<br>

omg!!! Phoebe actually lived through her mother's final hours on Earth?? that mustve been very very *very* painful for her. not meeting her mom and reliving her last hours?? Poor Pheebs

That scene where Phoebe had to see her mother die...I can't believe she had to see it (one of the grim things about her power)...I think this was after That '70s Episode (whoops! Season 1, of course it's AFTER)...and poor Phoebe not really knowing her mother as well as Prue and Piper because she was so terribly young when she died.

When Prue suggested it to her the first time I saw the eppy recently, I was a little annoyed at Prue, but a little proud too (for Phoebe) that finally it seemed Phoebe's power was useful & important enough to be considered by the eldest (they don't exactly have the best relationship).

Ha! So what if her power's passive, it's still my favorite (well, besides Piper's freezing power, and the fact it was her mother's and she was in an affair with a whitelighter...those darn parallels again!) because it's a power that truly has to do with the mind, you can see a vision right in front of your eyes...it's like a dream almost. I know someone who had this dream that their mother was at a cemetery and she had told him that things are not going well there...something about a war. And then later he found his mother had died just a couple of hours later.
I still think of it and always wonder how *magical* our minds are while we sleep...

I'm sorry I didn't review for that past update...but yeah, Sam really ruled that one what with the sad admittance that he blamed himself...that line was really touching and meaningful.

Oh, and I just realized...that whole "I've forgotten how good this feels" "How it feels to be a mortal?" “Why would you want to know?” Oh my, Season 2 spoiler! Season 2 spoiler! I wonder if the writers were already planning to go that direction when this episode was aired. Or maybe it was the obvious thing to do...ye old forbidden love! Sacrifice, mandatory.

What amazed me most about this section of this eppi is that it's the first time Phoebe really tried seeing the past. She *thought* she was when she saw Melinda Warren putting Matthew back in the locket, but since she later did that again, she was actually seeing the future. I might be wrong (I tend to be!), but I don't think so, and she hasn't really had to look into the past too many other times that I can remember. Too bad; it's something the writers should take advantage of.

Yeah, this *is* after That 70's Eppi, and eppi that didn't even make it into this story, since it doesn't have anything to do with the P/L connection. One of these days, I'm consider updating my story to include the whole thing, not just that. Man, that thing would be HUGE!!! But there's so much I'd like to include that I didn't the first time.

So you want to see Prue kick this demon's a$$, huh, Red? Well, here you go, coz here's Part Forty-Six, one of my all-time favorite parts, with one of the scenes a part of my avatar!!

Then Sam saw that Prue was still standing at the start of the dock, staring at the water, unable to step on the dock and walk in Mom’s footsteps. Sam somehow realized that she couldn’t do it without help. So he walked up to her and took her hand. “Let’s go face our demons,” he said, and she nodded, so they walked onto the dock. Halfway down, Prue knelt down and picked up the power cables, then stood up, walking towards the end of the dock.

“OK, you in the water,” she called out, as she walked. “I know that you’ve been waiting for this. For me. Well, here I am, so come and get me! You took what matters most to me and as long as I live, you will never kill again!”<br>
The water started bubbling. but on the other side of the dock.

“Prue! Behind you!!” you cried as you began running towards that side of the dock.

“Piper!” Leo cried out, terror in his voice. “Wait!” so you spun and froze Leo, before continuing to run, me now at your heels.

Just then the water demon rose up from under the water and began spraying Prue!

“No!” cried Sam, as he shoved Prue out of the way. “Not her! Take me!” and the water swept over Sam like a wave. “Stay back!” he warned. ‘It’s in me!”

Although the demon tried to make Sam jump off the dock, he grabbed for the cable instead, so Prue tossed them to him. Then he smiled at Prue and yelled, “NOW!” and Prue used her power to trip the on-switch.

We screamed as electricity lit up Sam’s body, making him shiver and shake and jump as he screamed in agony, finally dropping to the dock, his eyes closed, obviously in great pain.

“NO!” cried Prue, as she ran to him. “No, Sam!”<br>
You and I ran up to him just as Leo unfroze, still calling to you to stop.

Sam managed to open his eyes. Very weakly, he told us, “It’s gone. We did it. It’s gone.”<br>
“Leo!” I cried. “Do something!”<br>
So Leo ran up, knelt down next to Sam and put his hands over him. His hands turned golden, but no part of Sam turned golden.

“What?” cried Prue, shocked and scared. ”Why isn’t anything happening?”<br>
And you gave Leo a sad look. “Because it’s not meant to,” and he returned it.

“It’s OK,” Sam told us. “It’s time to go.”<br>
“No!” cried Prue, refusing to admit that.

“I did what I’ve been waiting to do,” he told us proudly. “I kept it from happening again. I saved Patty’s daughters. History won’t repeat itself.”<br>
“But you’re going,” I cried, tears rolling down my face.

Sam smiled. “I’m gonna see Patty again!” Then he turned to Leo. “Don’t lose her.”<br>
Suddenly he looked off in the distance and a glow came onto his face. “Patty? PATTY!” and when we looked off, we could also see Mom’s ghost floating above the lake, smiling at all of us, proudly, lovingly.

“Say hi for me,” Prue said with a smile, then looked at you and me. “For us,” and we nodded.

But before he could answer, we watched Sam’s eyes close and his chest stop moving. Before we could start to cry, we rejoiced, because we could now see Sam’s spirit standing next to Mom’s, ecstatically happy smiles on both of their faces. He took her hand, then they both waved at us before they disappeared.

I REALLY love the scene where Piper freezes Leo...it was like wait, is she her mother now? And, please so many! parallels!!! Just something about that part that I loved so much because even if Prue was down at the end of the dock, not the witch with the freezing power, Piper still had to go and repeat her mother's good intentions. That was so Piper too, interestingly enough...apparently, she has a lot of her mother in her. And poor Prue mentioned before that Piper was the one that looked like their mother and all when Sam mentioned it to her.

Sam's sacrifice was very noble. But it also seemed kind of selfish because he *wanted* to die...but yeah, the reason was pretty selfless because it was for Patty's *daughters*, but then he was all nostalgic about seeing Patty again and that made it a little selfish...sorry, just thinking about it objectively, don't mind me.

oooh wow! so it was actually Sam who got to do most of the vanquishing!! oh my...that was very noble on Sam's part...and as always, it [the latest update] made me sniff...one part of me feels bad for Sam's demise, but another part is cheering, because now he gets to see Patty again...

the last sentence was very sweet!!

This eppy was chock full of parallels, which I also like. Prue went the whole show denying her similarities with Patty, but then took her place at the end of the dock -- that is so emotionally powerful. And then Piper freezing Leo made me want to cry after what Sam had said about Patty freezing him. The connection between the two pairs of lovers was so strong then, seeming to indicate that P/L were doomed to fail as well. But then Sam's understanding of Leo's feelings for Piper, and his advice not to let her go, seemed to me like he was trying to tell Leo to take his place as "the whitelighter who loved a witch," so maybe it could work this time -- after all, Sam did get to be with Patty in the end, just like Leo will get to be with Piper (or he'd better be before Charmed ends!). Wonderful job, Esmeralda!

Thank you so much, all three of you!! I truly appreciate it!

I've always been taught that there is no better love than to lay down your life for your friends, Silvermoon, so for Sam to give up his life for Patty's daughters, and to try to make up for not being able to save Patty before by saving Prue, I count as very, very noble and not selfish at all, especially if he'd never seen Patty's ghost before and didn't know that that's what would happen.

Oh, in a different post, I mentioned that I know I throw some of me into Phoebe, my narrator. As I mentioned before, I *don't* think that Phoebe was originally for Leo to win the Dan/Leo battle, but I always was, so I'm having her look that way. Her wondering in at the beginning of CBL1-3:

is pure Esmeralda. Quite a few of her other opinions are mine. I try to make it sound like hers, but I know better!! And I'll admit I throw a little bit of me into Prue, just coz like me, she's the oldest, and Piper, coz I'm a romantic!!

One of my favorite lines in this eppi was Prue telling Sam to say hi to Patty for them. I used it myself with my own Mom. We got a chance to tell her good-bye while she was still coherent and could answer us, and I told her to say hi to her parents/my grandparents for me, and to thank them for all that they had done for our family since they left, and I'll admit, I was thinking of Prue, Sam & Patty as I said it! And the thought of her spirit being with her parents' spirit, and me getting a chance to be with them someday is a lot of what helps me keep going.

Silvermoon, I read elsewhere about the death of your grandfather. Please accept my sincere condolences! I hope there will be pieces of the show and of these stories that helps you, too!!

And will what happened between Sam & Patty bring Leo & Piper closer together or farther apart? That's coming up in the next section, which I'll post as soon as I get home!!

I have made sure that I read every chapter of this story, but haven't reviewed once. I thought it was about time that I let you know you are a very talented writer! You keep the character's feelings so close to the lines of the actual show.

I love how you interperate the person's actions, and why they did what they did. It makes me understand your view on the characters very well.

I have barely noticed any flaws in your typing (which I do very frequently) and makes the story an easier read.

Now that I have read this story, I will most definately read anything else you choose to write. I can't wait tosee what you come up with next.

like holly i always read this story but never reveiw.i always had to go do something...this story is so good.it makes me cry and laugh a bit...patty and sam should be together..piper and leo should be together.the comparisons between the two couples are amazing...i love this story and it's one of my favorites..you really know how to write

Oh, Holly!!! Oh, iluvdrew! I had absolutely no idea that you two were reading this and now I'm thrilled silly, especially you, Holly, since I love your stuff so much!!! Please keep reviewing if you continue to read!! Just like you, I *love* reviews!!!

As I'm sure you read elsewhere, I originally wrote this story last summer and the whole thing is written in Microsoft Works. I used its spell-check to check my typing last summer, too. Then I just copy and paste a section each time I post here. But I'll admit, I re-read my stuff and *still* find mistakes, so you'll constantly see the cue that I've edited at the bottom. Undoubtedly it's another spelling or punctuation or grammer error that I've caught!! I'm not a perfectionist in most things, but I am when it comes to my writing!!!

Also, Holly, please keep in mind that all of the conversation either comes from or is based on the actual dialogue from the show, so all the credit for that goes to the screenwriters. That's something I'm very jealous of you, Holly, because you always do conversation so well!! I'll take credit for the interpretation that Phoebe gives them, but this story would be nothing without the screenwriters' plots and dialogue.

I know that that's what I'm best at doing, and although I still have a *long* ways to go before this one is finished (i'm just barely halfways done), I'll admit that I'm starting to decide what to do next. As mentioned ad nauseum elsewhere, I hate the whole Cole-the-Source and Cole-the-pitiful-wimp routines, so I really don't want to novelize them, and I don't like all the fantasy stuff from Season Five much more.

BUT I do like Season Six and I'm considering this as a possible plot: After Wyatt turns good and Big Chris either vanishes or go back to the future, and Piper insists that neither of her sons will know anything about what has happened (something like SciFi's A Normal Life, if I can get her permission), when Little Chris starts showing signs of an inferiority complex concerning his older brother, Phoebe decides to write another letter--this one to her nephew, letting him know how he once helped save his family. This would lead into a novellization of Season Six from Oh, My Goddess through Bad, Bad World, as she once more plans on putting it somewhere where Chris will eventually find it. I will make very little mention of either Phoebe's or Paige's lovelife (with exceptions of Jason and Richard), coz most of the others in this season made me want to puke, but I think I could get Phoebs to tell the whole Chris-Perry-the-whitelighter-from-the-future-
who-might-really-be-future-Wyatt-
to-Chris-Halliwell-the second-son tale, especially if I could get Aurora's permission to include her Aftermath of a Wish and her The Trial of Leo Wyatt and (depending upon what she's doing with it) her The Root of All Evil. Whatcha thinK??

Anyway, back to Phoebe's first letter, her letter to Piper regarding her & Leo's love story. As I said earlier, will Sam & Patty's tale help bring Piper & Leo back together? Here's the answer in Part Forty-Seven

Later you and I were sitting in the living room. You were sitting on the couch, putting calomine lotion on your poisin ivy, while I was sitting lotus-style on the floor next to the coffee-table, sticking Mom’s letters into a photo album.

I looked up after putting one in the book to smile at you. “At least fighting this demon came with a consolation prize. I mean, it didn’t bring Mom back, but these brought her closer.”<br>
You smiled. “It’s a good idea, Phoebs. Making a journal out of Mom’s letters.”<br>
“Yeah, not as good as the real thing though.”<br>
You smiled sadly. “Nothing ever is.” Just then you looked towards the kitchen with a strange look on your face. “Um, tea. You want some tea? I’m gonna go get some.”<br>
“Sure,” I replied, wondering what was happening. So I waited until you left, then followed you, stopping at the kitchen door. Leo must’ve orbed in and motioned you to come, because he said, “I don’t want to interrupt.”<br>
You replied, “I think I can steep and talk at the same time. Do you want any?”<br>
“It’s just this, this whole situation you know, Sam, your Mom, those letters. He loved her. Like I love you,” and my heart ached for him.

You sighed impatiently. “Leo, we’ve been through this before. We both know how we feel, but there are things, people, involved now.”<br>
So Leo came right out and asked, “Can you tell Dan the truth, Piper?” and I wondered, too.

But you didn’t answer either of us. “That’s between him and me. You and I have a job to do, and I thought that we agreed to try and put that first.”<br>
“So did Sam and your Mom. Look at the outcome,” he pointed out. “I thought I was going to have to watch you die. Like Sam, I couldn’t stand to see that happen.”<br>
Oh, no, I thought, as you spoke my thoughts out loud. “You’re leaving, aren’t you? For good this time?"

“I don’t know. But I do know we have to stop working together, because I can’t stop loving you. Which means I can’t do my job.”<br>
You nodded. “And I can’t do mine. I don’t know how to say goodbye.”<br>
He smiled, “Then don’t,” and he orbed out.

Tears began to form in your eyes when there was a knock at the back door. You opened it and there was Dan, holding a tray with two bowls of cereal on it.

“Dan, what are you doing at the back door?” you asked.

“Well, when I knock on the front door I never seem to make it over the threshhold. Hungry?” Then he saw the look on your face. “Are you OK?”<br>
“I am just…I’m fine,” you replied, although your voice said otherwise.

“Are you sure?” he asked. “I mean, you can tell me,” unconsciously reflecting Leo’s words, as I thought, “No, you can’t.”<br>
But you smiled at him. “I know, I’m just not very hungry.”<br>
“C’mon,” he cajoled. “Give it a try,” as he ate a Froot Loop and lifted one towards your mouth..

You smiled at him, “OK, I’ll give it a try,” and as you let him into the kitchen, I knew you didn’t just mean the Froot Loop.

And with Leo gone, perhaps permanently, or so we thought, Dan definitely made his move. A couple weeks after the Froot Loop experience, you and I were sitting at the table, eating breakfast, planning our day, when you walked in, carrying a bag, an ecstatic smile on your face.

Oh, the sacrifices on both their parts are just so heartbreaking.

That is exactly what Leo did this season by leaving his family and doing the Elder thing. And we saw how well that worked out Oh, I so want them to be together!

You've done such a wonderful job with this whole episode, Esmeralda. I expect the next will show the same greatness!

P.S. I like your story idea of a letter to Chris. I think you should go for it!

oh wow... so is Leo gone for good??? that was so sad... there's nothing much to say except that WOW! you made me wanna cry again esmeralda...!!! such a wonderful update and the emotions are very palpable...

please update soon! i cant wait for the next episode/part(y) hehe...i wanna see if Dan can fill Leo's shoes (though i HIGHLY doubt it!) and i cant wait to see Leo's return!!

WOW, CharmedRoxy, another reader!!! I'm so thrilled!!! Welcome, welcome!! I hope you continue to read, continue to enjoy and continue to post!! As I tell everyone, I give most of the credit for the great writing to the fantastic scriptwriters, but if you think I'm doing a good job writing a novelization, I'm so glad!!

SciFi, I never even realized how much Season Six, and Leo again giving up Piper for his work, paralleled Season Two. Thanks so much for pointing it out; I may have fun with it later on!!

Red, have you noticed how often during these first couple of seasons that Leo was "gone for good", but somehow always came back!! I've noticed it more while reading as I update than I did while actually watching. But this one hurt me almost as bad as the one after he & Piper switched powers. I truly thought he was gone, just like I did that time. There's another time coming up that was also like that, but, well, I don't want to spoil it, and it's not until Charmed by Love 3 anyway.

Aurora, I'm so glad that you're still reading this!! Did you get a chance to read my idea for my next story--doing Season Six as a letter from Phoebe to Chris? I truly think I could do it, and would like to start working on it, while I'm still posting Charmed by Love, so the new one (title anyone? I'm fresh out!) would be ready to post when I'm done posting CBL. (I only want to do one at a time, so CBL doesn't end up getting lost along the wayside--yes, Aurora, that is a subtle way of saying WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO WRITE SHOWDOWN, THE LAST STORY OF YOUR SERIES???!!!). And I really think it would be a better story if I could include novelizations of some of your stories, especially Aftermath of A Wish, The Trial of Leo Wyatt and (depending upon what you're up to with it), The Root of All Evil. Could I possibly have your permission to do that? If you don't want me to, I'd understand, but...!! You can be sure I'll give you full credit!! Also, SciFi, if I could do the same with Normal Life and with bits of The Tie That Binds, I'd truly appreciate it, and I'd also give you credit. How 'bout the rest of you? What do you think? Is this an idea worth pursuing??

But let's get back to Phoebe's first letter--the one to Piper. Not a good one for Leofans, like me, but here it is. Part Forty-Eight

“Oh, look who it is,” I cried, pretending to be surprised.

“Morning,” you repled, dreamily.

I told you hi, then turned to Prue. “Do you recognize that person?”<br>
Prue shook her head, going along with the joke. “I don’t know, she looks vaguely familiar. Kinda like a sister we used to have. What was her name? Pi…P…<br>“<br>“Pi…,” I repeated, pretending to think, “Pippy?”<br>
“Pipper?” she asked.

I scratched my head. “Whatever happened to her?”<br>
Prue shrugged. “I don’t know. She fell in lust with the next-door neighbor, started spending all her time there.”<br>
And we could tell how happy you were because nothing we said even fazed you. You just smiled, “That’s because she could, because for the first time in months, her life has been nice and calm and normal. I don’t even care that it’s Friday--”<br>
““Shh!” I interrupted. “Don’t even say it!

But you did. “The 13th,” you finished, then smiled. “See, I said it and nothing happened.”<br>
And it didn’t for about fifteen seconds, because suddenly someone started shooting through the windows of the house! We screamed and ran passed the dining room, into the living room. Prue and I dove behind the couch, while you stayed on the other side of the room.

I shook my finget at you. “I told you not to say it!”<br>
“Oh, so this is my fault?” you groused.

“Run!” Prue cried

“No!” you protested.

So I yelled, “Get your a$$ over here right right now!”

Prue looked at me respectfully as you rans passed the table and froze the bullets and glass that were coming towards you. You dove behind the couch next to us. No sooner did you than the shooting stopped, so we peeked over the top of the couch, but the shooting stated again, so we ducked behind the couch again, and the shooting stopped again.

“Since when do demons use bullets?” I wondered.

“Maybe it’s not a demon,” you suggested.

“Who else would want to kill us?” Prue wanted to know.

“Well, you know,” I told her, “You were a little sharp to the mailman yesterday; we all know how testy they can be.”<br>
She was about to retort, when we heard the door knob on the front door rattling.

“I’ll freeze,” you declared.

I nodded, “I’ll kick.”<br>
Prue nodded, “And I’ll send flying.” and you and I nodded.
