“Come on, Phoebe.” Prue said to her younger sister. “We promised Piper, we’d meet her at the club by 11 and it’s already 10:45.”
“I know, I know. I’m coming.” Phoebe said, picking up the pace. “If you’re so worried about being late, then why did you wait until 9:30 to buy this jacket?”
“I don’t know. Maybe because of the storm that’s supposed to hit tomorrow?” Prue reminded her.
“Tomorrow? I thought that they said Friday.” Replied Phoebe.
“Um, Pheebs? Today is Thursday, therefore tomorrow is Friday.” Prue told her.
“Oops.” Phoebe laughed as they got into Prue’s black BMW.
Prue started the car and pulled out of the parking lot. They were headed to P3, the club that Piper owned, because somebody gave her a flat tire and she had no way of getting home.
Back at the club, Piper was waiting impatiently for Phoebe and Prue to pick her up. Suddenly, a loud rustling and quiet growling came from the bushes across the street.
“Who’s there?” Piper called.
The rustling continued.
“Believe me, you’re messing with the wrong person.” She announced.
The rustling had moved from across the street to the bushes next to the club. Piper was starting to get nervous.
“I mean it! Come out from the bushes!” Pipers’ voice trembled.
Suddenly, two large creatures jumped out from the bushes and ran straight towards her.
“Ahh!” She screamed and without thinking, she made a quick gesture with her hands, which froze time. “Oh my God.”
She turned to run to the club but realized that the car was closer. As she ran, the freeze had worn off and when she was going through her bag to find her keys, the creatures jumped onto her.
“Ahh!” She screamed again. “Get off me!”
Right at that moment, a car pulled into the parking lot and the creatures ran into the bushes. The door slammed and two figured ran over to Piper.
“Are you okay, ma’am?” One voice asked.
“I think so.” Piper said, trying to get up but instantly fell back down. “Ouch.”
“You should stay there.” The other voice said looking at the cuts on her leg and above her eye. “You’re bleeding pretty bad.”
One of the figures had run back to the car and had now returned.
“I called an ambulance. They’re on their way.” He told them. “Is there anyone I can call?”
“Yes.” Piper said weakly. “My sister, Prue. The number is 947-395-3201.”
He started dialing.
“Hello? Is this Prue? This is Anthony Furtado. Your sister, Piper, has been attacked in the parking lot of P3. Would you please meet us in the emergency room to San Francisco Memorial? Okay, good-bye.” He hung up.
“Are they gunna meet us?” Piper asked.
“Yes, they’re gunna meet at the hospital.” Anthony said encouragingly.
On the other end of the conversation, Prue was hanging up.
“Was that Piper?” Phoebe asked.
“No, some guy named Anthony. Piper was attacked in the parking lot.” Prue explained.
“Oh my God.” Phoebe exclaimed. “We better hurry.”
“I know.” Prue said taking a right.
10 minutes later, Prue took another right and pulled into the hospital emergency entrance. An ambulance had just stopped and was pulling out a stretcher with somebody on it.
Prue parked the car and they jumped out, running as fast as their heels would allow them.
“Piper?” Phoebe said as she reached the stretcher. “It’s not her.”
“Maybe she’s already inside.” Prue said reassuringly.
“Wait, there…oh never mind.” Phoebe said.” Let’s go inside.”
They went through the doors and to the check-in counter.
“Hi, we’re looking for Piper Halliwell. She should have just been admitted.” Prue told the woman behind the desk.
“Okay, if you’ll have a seat, you’ll be able to see her in about 10 minutes.” She said after looking through the computer.
“Thank you.” Phoebe said, sitting down.
They sat down and in exactly 10 minutes, Phoebe jumped up and walked over to the desk.
“You may go see her now. Room 95D.” The receptionist told her.
“Okay, come on, Prue.” Phoebe said as she was already halfway down the hallway.
They go to Room 95D and went in. Piper was on the bed, sleeping. Her doctor, Dr. Smith, was putting a bandage on the cut above her eye. It was pretty nasty.
“Whoa, that’s not very pretty.” Phoebe remarked, wincing.
“Huh? What’s going on?” Piper moaned as she awoke.
“Okay, well, this cut isn’t too deep,” Dr. Smith told Prue, gesturing to the one above her eye. “but the one on her leg is gunna need stitches.”
“What? Stitches? No way!” Piper exclaimed. “I just wanna go home!”
“Piper, do you want this big scar on you leg forever and ever?” Phoebe asked her.
“Fine, but you guys better be here.” Piper told them.
“I don’t know about Prue but I’ll definitely be here.” Phoebe said. “You just need to rest.”
After about a half hour, Dr. Smith came back in and started getting things ready.
“Are you ready?” Phoebe asked Piper.
“As ready as I’ll ever be.” Piper moaned. “Did Prue go back home?”
“Yeah…well, B.O.S.” Phoebe explained.
“Oh, it’s almost 2 in the morning. Why is she…there now?”
“I don’t know. Maybe cause she’s Prue?” Phoebe laughed.
“Okay, here we go, Piper.” Dr. Smith started injecting nova cane into her leg.
“Aw man.” Piper complained.
“Sheesh, Piper, how bad can it be?” Phoebe said sarcastically.
“Have you ever had stitches?” Piper asked Phoebe.
“Okay, I’m done.” Dr. Smith said standing up straight. “Um, let me wrap it and you can leave. I’ll need to talk to one of your sisters about the medication and stuff.”
“That’s me.” Phoebe said.
”Okay, um, well this is a special bandage that you need to change twice a day. After she wakes up and before she goes to bed. Okay?” He instructed. “I’ll write a prescription for the painkillers and remember when she’s sleeping, try not to put a lot of weight on it and keep her leg elevated.”
“Okay, I got it.” Phoebe said. “Are you ready?”
“Why are you asking me that? I wanna get out of here as fast as possible.” Piper told her.
“Okay, you get changed, I’ll call Prue and then go get your medication.”
“Okay.”
By the time Phoebe had gotten back, Piper had changed and was getting the crutches.
“Whoa, somebody’s in a hurry.” Phoebe said, laughing.
“Where’s Prue?” Piper asked with a smile. “I want to go home.”
“She’s waiting out front. She couldn’t come in because she’s in the fire lane.” Phoebe explained.
“Oh, okay. Well, let’s go.” Piper said as she hopped out of the room.
“She found something in the Book that might help you describe what you saw.” Phoebe told her as they walked outside.
“Okay, but can we wait until tomorrow? I just want to go home and get into something comfortable. It’s, like, 3:30 in the morning and I’m exhausted.” Piper said.
Prue gave Phoebe the keys to the car, helped Piper into the backseat and then got in with her.
“Yeah, we can do it tomorrow. Whenever you’re up to it.” Phoebe replied as she started the car. She pulled out of the parking lot and started on the way home.
