The Elders have seemed to change over the years. Yes, it could be because we see them more (Why, I don't know), but even that is still different. Some of them are just plain mean. The one Elder in Seven Year Witch...he doesn't strike me the type who would be one of Them.

yeh, he seemed more like a demon/darklighter sorta dude. I like Sandra/Andrea though. She's a classic elder. The only one we remotely get to know.

I think she is the only one we've gotten to see in almost every elder apperance. I like Sandra. Most of the elders seem more like darklighters or evil.

I liked John De Lancie as an Elder. Darn, I forgot what his name was, tho. Help! Anyone?

He plays Odin. That Elder who seems to be evil. At least from what we see.

I hated Odin. Sandra was ok and I also liked that one elder from Witches in Tights. I can't think of his name right now.

Ramus. He was alright. Overall, the elders just came off as full of themselves and self righteous. I specially dispised the way Odin wanted to dominate Leo's life and I wasn't too happy about the things he did to steal Leo away in The 7 year witch.
I'm ok with Sandra.

Q Well, you have to understand that the Elders and the Demons both hold power simular to Politicians. this is why they work together on major issues that threaten their power over humanity which they use for their ammusement and as pawns in their silly "good v.s. evil" games. Kill them all off from Elders to Demons to Avaters and Angels of Destiney and the World would probably be a better place....considerning according to dogma it is the demons and warlocks in powerul positions that causes strife, wars, hatred, and conflict.

Why did the writers believe they needed to have witches follow the dictates of a bunch of guardian angels?

They didn't. Witches had whitelighters as guides and guardians, not dictators that forced them to do things their way, and the charmed ones? Couldn't care any less about the elders' dictates.

Why did the writers believe they needed to have witches follow the dictates of a bunch of guardian angels? In any religion or belief you are subjugated to someone or something....a fact of religion or any belief system that says you have minimum if no control over what you should think, feel, or do and will pay or be punnished for not following the rules. The Whitelighters are the ones that make Witch pawns out of humans and grant them powers to play their stupid "good v.s. Evil" game with the Demon pawns, Warlock Pawns, and Darklighter pawns created from humans by their counterparts for same said "duality". At the same time they keep magic and themselves secret from the General Human Populace for they know that Humans that aren't as weak minded as the Halliwells or their other flunkies will Rebel and Kick their Alien Arses back to Olympia As a tongue in cheek joke, the Actor that plays Odin in Charmed also played q in Star Trek:Next generation, and in "Legends Never Die" Q confessed that the Q often dabbled in Human affairs and were worshiped as the "Greek Gods" until the Qs continuum came in and shut their toying with humans down Considering Kern is a Star Trek fan (if all the time Paradox episodes weren't a hint) he must had been ecstatic to get "Q" on Charmed

I have a question about the Whitelighters and this is the closest thread that I could post on. This will sound strange but have there been any whitelighters that were not Caucasian?

Sure, there was that future whitelighter that Paige was supposed to protect in Battle of the hexes and even though they were really elders, I assume they had to be whitelighters first, Zola and that other elder that wanted to take the kids away from Victor in Still charmed and kicking were black as was one of the female elders that tried to kill Leo in Ordinary witches.
Those are the ones I remember off the top of my head.
