how about buffy at the reunion the cast mentioned that the producers or sumthin are looking at sex and the city as the door
if its good buffy is back
if its bad buffy is buried

However, the difference with Buffy and Charmed is..Charmed was cancelled. Buffy ended by choice.
Not to mention, with both the Buffy and Angel series, the door was left wide open for continuation after the finale (hence, comic books continue the series). Plus Joss was even considering a Faith spin-off before Eliza took the role of Tru in the short lived Tru Calling FOX series. There's also the possibility of the Ripper series happening. There's just A LOT that can be done with Buffy still.
Basically, even when Buffy ended, there was always room to discuss more with this franchise. Charmed, however, wrapped up everything in the finale and no one has even looked back at continuing with this. The Charmed Son's deal was created by fans of the show to see more but was never an actual possibility. Fandoms can keep shows alive, but they can't create movies and series that were never going to happen to begin with.
