In the Issue 17 of Charmed Magazine there was a very interesting question asked of Brad Kern that i thought everyone would be interested in.
A Charmed Fan wrote in and asked Brad if:
Were there any major storylines that you wanted to do that, for some reason, never made into the show? And if so, why didn't they make it?
Answer:
There was one storyline that i was interested in doing in the beginning of the fifth year, involving the character Cole Turner, played by Julian McMahon. Page and Cole were going to start to have feelings for each other. That was going to create sisterly strife, obviously, between Paige and Phoebe. What we wanted to play was what happens between sisters when they fall in love with the same man. How does the sisters handle this type of problem? There was a scene, that's actually in the show, where Paige casts a spell to find out what Cole's true feelings towards Phoebe are and if he truly loves her. In the script he ends up kissing Paige because he felt so strongly about Phoebe that he acted on his feelings then and there. When this happens Paige reacts to that and it was going to be the beginning of that arc. It would have been very chancy, i think, and pretty volatile. When i sent the scripts to the girls it took them all but a few seconds to call and say "No way are we playing that." So that was the biggest one that i wanted to do that did not work out. Julian also shot that out of the water saying that he was much more happier with his role of intimacy with Phoebe, although he would not mind sneaking a kiss in on Piper, which there was no way to work into the script or if Holly would even go for that.
Thought you might like this bit of information.
