Phoebe...
Make sure you have the right layer selected in the layers palette first. Then the keyboard shortcut to it is:
PC: CTRL+T Mac: Apple+T
That will put a box around it that you can use your mouse to drag to resize. If you cannot see the edges of the box then you'll want to shrink the size of your canvas some. Hold the Shift key to keep the picture in the correct ratio.
Hope that helped. If you have anymore CS3 questions I'll try to answer as that is what I am currently using on my Mac at the moment.

Hey,
Anyone heard of an add-on to Photoshop that will allow you to increase the size of an image up to 1600% while retaining the quality of the image? I am thinking about getting it for around $25. I just wanted to see if anyone else heard of it, and how well it worked.

1. Click on the eraser tool on the tool palette
You should see an arrow towards the top of the screen to reveal a drop down menu of all the brushes.
2. Click on the arrow, and reveal the brushes
On the right part of this box you should see an arrow pointing to the right in a circle.
3. Click on that arrow
When you click that, it'll bring down another long menu.
4. Scroll the list with your eyes, and you should see "Square Brushes"
5. Click on that, and when a pop-up menu appears, click append.
Now you should be able to scroll through not only round brushes, but square ones as well.
Hope that helped.

That was really cool. I liked your use of masks, and how you made that look really simple to do. Some tutorials aren't that clear, but that was. Looks great.

All I do is save pictures I want and use the paint shop in the start button. It takes time, but that's how I've done my banners. The one below me, my signature, is an example of one I've done. Does anyone else use Paint?

If you're talking about a blank canvas, and want to change it from white to something else:
Set the foreground color to what you want it to be. Make sure the blank canvas is selected. Then you press the following button combo:
Mac: Alt+Del PC: CTRL+Backspace
I am not 100% sure about the PC one as it has been a while since I have used the PC version of Photoshop, but I believe that's what it is.

Firstly, open Photoshop, and load the picture you want to cut out. In the sidebar, you will notice a lasso tool. If you click and hold this (circled red on the sidebar): You'll then be given the following options: Choose Magnetic Lasso Tool, and Change the feather to about 2px: img13.photobucket.com/albums/v37/huwrobs/feather.gif [/img] Then drag it around your person/object. The magnetic lasso 'sticks' to the objects outline, and makes it easier to cut out!! (on low quality pics, you may have trouble selecting the objects outline) This may tak you take you a bit of practice. Once you've gone around the figure, join the dotted line thinggy with the beginning, and it'll make the persons shape around them. Right click, and either choose Layer via copy or Layer via cut. Either way it'll make a new layer with the figure in which u can drag around etc. You should end up with something like this: As you can see, it has cut around the picture of Paige, leaving a tidy cut-out, which you can use on a sig etc.
Anyone know what version of Photoshop this is?

I'm not sure which version that is, sorry. But I know Photoshop CS3 has a magnetic lasso tool since I use it at University.

You can't get a free version of it (legally ) unless you know someone who already has it that you can borrow it from.
