Open on a quiet neighborhood. Lights are now turning off and people are getting ready for bed. We see a two story blue house. Inside, a young mother in her 20’s is putting her son down to bed.
Boy: “But, mom if I go to sleep the witch will get me.”
Women: “Ryan how many times do I have to tell you there is no witch in your room.”
Ryan: “Are you sure?”
Women: “Positive now go to sleep.”
Reluctant the little boy closes his eyes and the mother kisses him on the forehead. She walks down stairs to a sink filled with dishes. She sighs and begins to clean them. Back upstairs, Ryan is starting to fall asleep. He is almost asleep when his closet door opens by it’s self. Ryan shoots awake and the next thing we hear are screams. The mother drops the plate and runs up stairs to see Ryan in the corner rocking back and forth.
Women: “Sweety, what's wrong?”
Ryan: “The witch hurt me.” He lifts his face to see that it has been scratched.
Cut to on the road. Dean and Sam are in the car. Dean is behind the wheel driving, Sam has his head in a newspaper.
Dean: “So tell me why we are going to this place again.”
Sam: “Because over the months people have been dying in weird ways. Some have been hanging from trees. Others being drowned, and last but not least others have just lit on fire.”
Dean: “Were they all witches?”
Sam: “No, but they were all connected. They were all part of the mayor's family. Now get this, this morning the mayor goes to do his morning shave and his wife comes in to find him hanging from the shower curtain.”
Dean: “So the mayor's dead and we have no one to talk to because there are no more connections.”
Sam: “Still his wife and he has a son.”
Dean: “Okay, we’ll go, but this place is freaking cold this time of year.”
They pass a welcome to Michigan sign.
The next morning the boys are in a diner looking at newspapers. The young mother comes up to them with a notepad. She looks like she has had no sleep.
Women: “What can I get for you two?”
Dean and Sam look up at her. Dean leans in to look at her name tag.
Dean: “Well, Ashley, I’d like some coffee.”
She writes it down on her note book and looks at Sam.
Sam: “Nothing for me, thanks.”
She walks away, and as she goes Dean checks her out. Sam kicks him under the table.
Dean: “Oww, what was that for?”
Sam: “Were not here to get lucky.”
Dean: “But if it happens it happens.”
Sam shakes his head and points at the newspaper.
Sam: “Mayor won't be laid out till tomorrow. We should probably go up to his house.”
Dean: “And see what we can find out from his wife and son.”
Ashley comes back setting down the coffee. She takes a glance at the newspaper.
Ashley: “It’s a shame, poor mayor.”
Sam: “Do you think he killed himself?”
Ashley: “No, I think someone or something did it.”
Dean: “Something?”
Ashley: “Sorry I sound nuts.”
Sam: “No you don’t.”
Ashley: “Yeah, I do. I got to go back to work.”
She walks away and Sam looks at Dean.
Dean: “You think she knows something?’
Sam: “Yeah, but maybe we should wait till she gets off work.”
Dean: “It will take up too much time. You head to the mayor's house and I will stay here and wait for her to get off her shift.”
Sam: “You sure you don’t want me to talk to her?”
Dean: “No, I’m good. I wont do anything stupid.”
Sam: “Yeah, okay.”
Sam gets up taking the car keys from Dean. Dean sits back as Sam leaves the diner. Ashley sees Sam leave and watches as Dean doesn't move. He notices her gaze and winks at her, and she rolls her eyes and goes back to work.
Outside, Sam is pulling up to the mayor's house. There are security guards all around. He manages to slip by them. He knocks on the door and a women opens it, tears in her eyes. She was the mayor's wife.
Mayors Wife: “Can I help you?” She asks, trying not to cry.
Sam: “Hi I’m from the uhhh FBI here to ask you a few questions.”
He was going to be honest but figured out Dean was always the one who told people who they were.
A Guy in his 20’s pushes the lady aside, telling her something. She walks away.
Guy: “Yeah next time your going to lie think of something better now get out of here you reporter.”
He is about to shut the door but Sam stops it.
Sam: “Five seconds I promise, I know how hard of time this must be for you.”
Guy: “Listen, my dad was an outstanding guy, okay. Whoever did this is going to pay.”
The guy slams the door. Sam can’t even get a word out. He sighs and walks off.
Back at the diner Ashley is putting her coat on and walking out the door. Dean follows her.
Dean: “Hey...”
Ashley: “You again.”
Dean: “Give me a couple of minutes.”
Ashley: “I can’t. I have to get home to my son. I cant afford the babysitter as it is.”
Dean: “Where’s your car?”
Ashley: “I walk.”
She starts to walk and he follows.
Dean: “Fine, then let me walk with you.”
Ashley: “Fine, but I have pepper spray.”
Dean: “Don’t worry, I wont hurt you. So, anyway, back in the diner you said something killed the mayor?”
Ashley: “Listen,, all I know is every month for 6 years these weird deaths have been happening. Last night I became a believer that something is out there.”
Dean: “What happened?”
Ashley: “My six year old son, he always told me there was a witch in his room. But, being a mother I shrugged it off thinking it’s a stage. Well, I’m downstairs washing the dishes and I hear him scream. I rush up to his room to find scratches all over his face. Listen to me, I must be nuts. I haven’t slept in days.”
Dean: “ Your not nuts. Listen, you think I could talk to your son?”
Ashley: “ Not right now, he has to go to his father's. He wont be home till tomorrow.”
Dean: “That’s fine, me and my brother can wait.”
Ashley: “Well you know my name. What’s yours?”
Dean: “Dean. The guy in the diner was my brother Sam.”
They get to her house.
Ashley: “I’m off tomorrow so if you two want to come over around noon for lunch...”
Dean: “Free food is always good.”
She shakes her head and heads inside. Before she closes the door Dean checks her out one last time and then walks off, pulling out his cell phone.
In a motel room Sam is on the computer looking up something. Dean is under the covers ready to go to bed.
Sam: “Okay, so I cant find anything weird and I have no Idea why whatever this thing is targeting a little boy.”
Dean: “We will worry about it tomorrow. Now sleep.” He sounds groggy and turns over falling asleep. Sam puts the laptop away and lays down.
It’s now the next day and Dean and Sam are approaching Ashley’s house. They knock, she opens the door and lets them in.
Dean: “Nice house.”
Ashley: “Yeah, it is to bad I’m going to loose it.”
Sam: “What?”
Ashley: “It’s getting to hard to pay for. Sorry guys my ex is late with my son.”
The door bell rings and Ashley opens the door. It’s her son with the mayor's son.
Ashley: “Your late, Jason.”
Jason: “Sorry, he couldn’t sleep.”
Ashley: “Again.”
Ryan looks up at his mom and runs into the living room past Sam and Dean.
Jason looks in the house seeing Sam and Dean.
Jason: “Hey, you’re the fake FBI agent.”
Sam: “I have no idea what your talking about.”
Jason: “I have to go my father's funeral is today.”
Ashley: “Yeah, I know neither I or your son were invited”
Jason: “He’s a child and you’re a slut.”
Asley slaps Jason and he walks off. she slams the door after him, turning around to face the boys.
Ashley: “I hate him. The only reason I married him was I got pregnant.”
Sam: “You married the mayor's son?”
Ashley: “Yeah, but it went sour. He cheated on me and calls me the slut.”
Dean: “Men.” Dean trying to be all sensitive to the situation, Sam giving him a look.
Ashley: “Hungry?”
Cut to a cemetery. The funeral is just ending and Jason is walking back to his limo but is stopped by an ugly looking lady.
Jason: “Please move.”
She looks at him and gives him the evil eye. Jason starts to choke and suddeny bursts into flames. The woman disappears as Jason's guards run to his body.
