Season 8x02 – The Return of Old (Part 2)

Chapter 1


Paige orbs into the living room with Piper and Phoebe.

Phoebe: So what do we do first?
Paige: First we figure out what we’re up against. This brotherhood has to be somewhere in the book. Right?
Piper: Well lets go check the sooner we get this done the better.

The sisters walk up to the attic and Phoebe starts to flick through the book.

Phoebe: I’m pretty sure I’ve read of a brotherhood before somewhere in the book

She stops flipping through the book but the look on her face doesn’t suggest she found what she was looking for.

Piper: Phoebe are you okay?
Phoebe: I just realized why I remember the brotherhood.
Paige: Why?

Piper and Paige walk around the stand that holds the book of shadows to see the page Phoebe was looking at. It was the page with Belthazor and it still had the pictures of Phoebe and Cole together on the page.

Paige: Cole? Why does Cole remind you of the brotherhood?
Piper: Because he belonged to a brotherhood.
Phoebe: After he decided not to be Belthazor anymore and choose to stay with me what found out that a group of demons were trying to take over a major company to help integrate demons into human society. This group of demons was called the brotherhood. They were like Cole’s family the head of the brotherhood was even his mentor. But Cole said that we were his family now and he went undercover to help us stop them.
Paige: What happened
Phoebe: he came through he helped us save an innocent.
Piper: But then his mentor killed an innocent witch that we were suppose to protect Phoebe though it was him and so he returned to the underworld.
Phoebe: But I couldn’t give up on him so Leo took me to the underworld to help me get him back and I did but in the end it cost Prue her life.

Paige: well we fine at least we know whom these guys are lets go and take them out you guys already know how they work.
Piper: No its not them for one we destroyed the brotherhood WITH Cole’s help
Paige: Yeah but they could have reorganized come back
Piper: And secondly the brotherhood we took down were made up of demons. The one in the subway was a warlock trust me they wouldn’t work together.
Paige: So we’re still looking for the brotherhood. Here Phoebe let me check.

Phoebe steps to the side letting Paige start to go through the book. Piper puts her arm around Phoebe and guides her over to the couch in the attic. Paige stops turning the Paige as she looks at Piper talk to Phoebe with a concerned look on her face.

Piper: Phoebe are you okay?
Phoebe: Yeah, yeah I’m fine it just brings back bad memories
Piper: Phoebe you know Prue’s death wasn’t your fault you had no idea about what was going to happen.
Phoebe: Yeah I know I, I guess I just never got over the feeling that if I hadn’t gone to get Cole back she would still be alive and now knowing how the whole thing with Cole and me ended out. Its like I lost both of them.
Piper: Phoebe it wasn’t your fault no one could have prevented what happened.
Phoebe: Yeah but….
Paige: I think I found it.

Phoebe gets up and walks over to Paige leaving Piper with a concerned look. You can tell she’s worried about Phoebe. She finally gets up and joins Paige and Phoebe by the book.

Piper: K Paige what did you find
Paige: K how about this

The Brotherhood. An ancient society of warlocks’ with powerful mental powers who are even rumored to have been the first warlocks in existence. Their history goes back to ancient times where legend tells that there master a being of infinite power was sealed away. Legend tells that their powers were used to start aggressions between humans and which they hoped would lead to more aggression. Legend continues to say that they fed off this anger and aggression so that one-day they could release their master from his prison. However their whereabouts and activities have been unknown for centuries. It is unknown if the Brotherhood even exits anymore or if the legends are even remotely true.


Piper: wow these guys are powerful
Paige: Do you think this master of theirs the one with infinite power who was sealed away could be this evil? I mean it would make sense first we hear about a new evil coming then we run into a brotherhood of warlocks whose presence hasn’t been seen for centuries and whose master just happens to be a being of infinite power.
Phoebe: Your right it does seem to fit
Piper: Yeah but where does the weird weather come into to play here? I’m almost 100% positive that they are related to each other but in what way I don’t know.
Phoebe: and so the mystery continues
Paige: Well at least we know what we’re up against now
Piper: Yeah but what’s are next step the warlock didn’t leave anything for us to scry with.
Paige: True and with out anything of his we don’t stand a chance of finding out where this brotherhood is or for that fact what this new evil is.
Piper: Well I’m going to go feed Chris and Wyatt and watch the weather channel.
Phoebe: Watch the weather channel?
Piper: Just in case I don’t know they come up with any reasons for the weather. At this point I’m willing to try anything.

Paige and Piper leave the Attic leaving Phoebe alone with the book. Phoebe has a big grin on her face but when her sisters go down the stairs her grin disappears and is replaced with a frown and sad tired eyes. She turns the pages of the Book of Shadows until she reaches the page with Belthazor and the pictures of her and Cole together on the side. She runs her hand down the strip of photos and then grabs the sides as if to tear out the page.

Paige: Phoebe you coming!
Phoebe: Yeah be right there!

Phoebe wipes away a tear from her eyes and instead of ripping the photo of her and Cole together she gives it one more look over and then closes the book of Shadows and proceeds to walk down the stairs.

Chapter 2

You see the clouds from the heavens as the camera zooms in its passes some Greek columns and that’s when Leo orbs in. In front of him is a huge mob of whitelighters all in their white cloaks. All have gathered around the huge golden doors that went so high you cannot see where it ends. (The golden doors that were seen in the season 5 finale when Leo went to go get the powers of the Greek gods.) They seemed to be waiting for something. As Leo stands behind the crowd wandering what is going on Sandra appears behind him.

Sandra: Hello Leo
Leo: Sandra what is going on here?
Sandra: This threat that we have told you about Leo is becoming more powerful at a rate would could not have predicted. Leo it is a good thing you have come back to us now at this crucial time for the days that lye ahead will not be easy ones.
Leo: Are we under lock down?
Sandra: Yes I’m afraid so we what to try and limit the chance of any one being able to reach us here Leo.
Leo: But the sisters I cant….
Sandra: Do not worry Leo the council has granted you permission to orb to the sisters just watch your back.
Leo: I understand that we are in lock down Sandra but why is everyone gathered at the door to the Elder’s Council?
Sandra: None of the Whitelighters know anything about what is occurring right now Leo they are completely clueless to why we have even initiated the lock down. They are curious to find out what is occurring.
Leo: You haven’t told them yet.
Sandra: Unfortunately no we haven’t I have presented the idea to the council but…<br>Leo: But let me guess Odin shot it down
Sandra: Yes he did. Leo he is the head of the Elder council you most show him more respect.
Leo: I don’t need to show him any respect he threatened to let Piper die.
Sandra: Yes I know and I am truly sorry about that Leo but that does not change the fact that he is the head of the Council.
Leo: You have to admit his actions are not right and do not reflect what we as Elders stand for.
Sandra: He has a lot on his plate right now Leo especially with what is coming. But yes I do have to admit his actions are becoming of increasing concern to me but as of right now Leo there is nothing we can do.
Leo: Sandra before you go tell me everything you know of this Evil. The sisters need all the help they can get.
Sandra: I am not sure how to tell this to you Leo but we you know is all that we know.
Leo: You don’t know anything more about this, what about the strange weather on Earth?
Sandra: None of it Leo, you know as much as we do right now. I most go now Leo the Council is about to initiate the meeting. Good luck Leo.

Sandra puts the hood of her cloak above her head and then walks through the crowd. The whitelighters quickly move out of her way creating a path strait trough the crowd of people and right to the golden door. Leo is still where she left him he seems to be contemplating his next move. He looks over to Sandra who is about to make her way to the door. He makes up his mind about puts the hood of his cloak over his head and becomes invisible. He quickly walks trough the path created by Sandra and follows her trough into the Council’s room. She shuts the door behind her and the walks over to her seat at the Council’s table.
The room seems to have no ceiling only clouds are above their heads. There are many columns that go around in a circle around the table. The room itself is circular and has many pedestals with ancient artifacts one of them being the vase where the powers of the Greek gods are held. The table is circular with 12 chairs one of them was raised higher and was more elaborately decorated and of course this was where Odin sat. Leo continued to look around this room that he had only caught a short glimpse of before. Between each column their was some kind of monument or shrine sometimes to great Elders of the past other times to the objects in front of the wall that were kept on a pedestal. But one wall in particular was strange it was a marble wall with what looked like a great battle engraved into it. It was directly across the Golden doors that led to the entrance of the chamber. Perhaps it was only for decoration but Leo felt something strange come from the wall as if something was calling to him from behind it. But when the meeting started he returned his attention to the Council’s members.

Odin: Welcome everyone. Now where shall we start?
Sandra: I believe we should start with the issue of telling the whitelighters at least something on what is going on. And if not the whitelighters at least the other Elders
Odin: This again Sandra the council has already decided on this issue we will keep these matters a secret until such time as this council chooses to revel information to the others.
Sandra: But you are forgetting one thing Leo already knows about this evil. It is true he does not know everything about it but he still knows of its existence. We all know very well that Leo isn’t one to go by the rules I believe I wont be long until he discloses the information on the coming evil with another Elder or whitelighter and soon after that all of the heavens will know of its existence. How will it make the council look when the others discover we have been hiding crucial information from them?
Odin: You are persistent I will give you that but the council has made up its mind. Let us move onto other matters
Elder1: Actually Odin I believe we should bring this issue to the table for Sandra does bring up interesting points. She is right in saying that Leo will not keep quiet about what he knows and it will not look good for us when they find out we have been keeping secrets from them.
Elder2: Yes I agree on this as well not to mention that the whitelighters and Elders are already very curious about this lock down they can sense something is not right it is only a matter of time before that feeling becomes stronger.
Elder3: Yes I agree we must tell them something of what is happening. We cannot risk losing the faith of the others at such a crucial time.
Odin: Fine it seems all are now in favor of releasing some information to the others. We will tell them that we can sense something evil is arising, just like we told Leo. We will not tell them anything else. Are you happy now Sandra?
Sandra: Yes very happy.
Odin: Well on to the next matter. What should be our first move?
Elder4: Well we still don’t even know where he is imprisoned, or anything about the whereabouts of the brotherhood. Any traces of them that we once had have suddenly been lost.
Sandra: The sister have been put on the path of finding the brotherhood our hope lies with them discovering their whereabouts
Elder4: If we have not been able to find the brotherhood what makes you think the Charmed one will.
Sandra: That’s simple it’s because they are the Charmed ones.
Odin: Well I hope the sisters do succeed for without knowing the location of his prison we can do nothing to prevent his escape.
Elder2: And what of this strange weather no doubt it is connected to this evil but why would the brotherhood mess with the forces of weather it seems so unneeded.
Odin: Unfortunately that is another riddle we have no answer to.
Elder5: And what of Leo should we release more information to him he is our link to the sisters. If they knew more maybe it would help them in their search and maybe even get them to trust us more.
Sandra: That is what I’ve been trying to say what harm could come of the sisters knowing more about their enemy I see only good coming from that.
Odin: We have already gone over this it is not their time to know they are not ready to know. We most be patient.
Elder6: so what do we do now?
Odin: We make backup plans incase both the Charmed Ones and us fail to prevent his release from his prison.

A great silence falls among the council as if they are all contemplating their very possible doom. As Leo hides behind a column he hears Piper call out to him.

Piper: (in far away voice) LEO!!!!!…..LEO!!!!!!…. LEO WHERE ARE!!!!!

Leo glad that only he can hear Pipers call hides completely behind a column and then orbs out. AS he orbs out Odin turns around and looks at the column that Leo was just behind.

Odin: Then anyone else sense someone orb.
Sandra: No I sensed nothing. Do not tell me that this issue is starting to get to you Odin.
Odin: No of course not. Now let us continue.

As Odin turns back around Sandra continues to stare at the Column you cant tell from the look on her face she sensed someone had orbed too but had decided to conceal their activities for she had a good idea of who it was.

Well i was hoping i would get at least one review but I've given up so heres the 2nd chapter. PLEASE REVIEW!

Sry about posting the chapter twice it was a computer mess up. Well since i cant erase it i might as well make a few comments.

To Canadian Halliwell you definitly caught the hint about the door but like most secrets they wont come out quickly so dont expect to find out its secret soon but it is a very important factor to the end of my stories.

Chapter 3

Leo orbs down to the manor. Piper is sitting on the coach feeding Wyatt while Chris was still in his playpen. Paige was sitting next to Piper staring at the TV, which was on a weather station and was reporting on the bizarre weather that was still taking place.

Leo: Piper what was so urgent you almost got me caught.
Piper: Caught? What were you doing?
Leo: I was…. I was (whispering) spying on the Elders.
Piper: OHH! Well you find anything out?
Leo: No not really just that the brotherhood is tied to this evil and so is the weather.
Piper: Hah! Told yeah!
Paige: Oh whatever
Leo: And also that what they’ve told me about this evil threat which Sandra said was all that they knew. Well they know much more.
Piper: Well what else do they know about it?
Leo: I don’t know you called me back here before I could find out.
Piper: What you do that for! You should have stayed up there!
Leo: I also know that they are stumped they don’t know what else to do it seems whatever else they know about this threat cant help them find where it is. They are relying on you to at least find the brotherhood. What have you found out?
Piper: Well not that much well at least nothing you haven’t heard. The Brotherhood of super warlocks feed off human aggression and pain and then use that to try and free their master from a prison. But we don’t know where they are or where this prison is.
Leo: A Prison well at least your on the right track I remember the Elders talking about a prison before I left but unfortunately they didn’t seem to know where it was either.
Piper: Well Leo go off and tell the Elders what we found out we cant make them suspicious. And try some way to listen in on their conversation again.
Leo: What! Do you know how lucky I was to get in there the first time?
Paige: What you can’t just orb in there?
Leo: No it’s shielded against all kind of teleportation’s. No one-can teleport inside I was lucky that I could teleport out actually.

Phoebe comes down the stairs as the doorbell rings.

Phoebe: I got it! Oh hey Leo find out anything interesting?
Leo: Ohhh… well…
Piper: Long story we’ll fill you in later Phoebe. Now Leo go and try to find out what you can.

Leo is about to orb away.

Piper: Wait aren’t you forgetting something?
Leo looks at her funny then smiles and gives her a kiss
Piper: Much better

Leo orbs away and after he disappears Phoebe opens the door and sees Daryl.

Phoebe: Daryl what are you doing here? Does Sheila know you’re here?

Daryl doesn’t answer

Piper: Daryl you shouldn’t be here. You shouldn’t have to risk your marriage just to help us.
Daryl: Piper listen Sheridan went to homeland security they’re coming after you. I know you don’t have your powers anymore but I don’t think that will stop them. Plus they don’t know that you don’t have your powers they’ll be coming full force.
Paige: Well Daryl actually we got our powers back
Daryl: What I thought you said you gave them up
Phoebe: We did but they came back
Piper: Around the same time that we were attacked by Home land security
Daryl: What are you guys okay
Paige: Were fine as long as we help them out.
Phoebe: Well as long as we help homeland security on certain cases they’ll leave us alone and wont reveal our secret.
Daryl: You can’t trust these people once your no good to them alive they will kill you.
Phoebe: We understand that Daryl but its our best option at least for now.
Piper: Daryl you should go I don’t want everything that happens to us to destroy your marriage.
Daryl: But you need my help. I just can’t just forget about everything I know, about what you girls do for everyone.
Phoebe: Piper’s right Daryl you should go we’ll be alright we just don’t want anything to come between Sheila and you just because of us.
Daryl: But….. FINE! But be careful.

Daryl turns around and opens the door. Outside is Clare Piper’s friend who is surprised to see Daryl open the door. He quickly passes her without saying a word.

Piper: Clare what are you doing here?
Clare: Well I was in the neighborhood and I thought I’d just pass by and see how the kids were. What was up with Daryl he seemed I don’t know angry?
Paige: Oh no he was just in a hurry you know Police business.
Clare: Oh! So how are little Wyatt and Chris?
Phoebe: Actually I need to go upstairs so I’ll go check up on them.
Paige: Oh… Let me go with you.

Paige and Phoebe go upstairs leaving Piper and Clare alone in the living room.

Piper: The kids are getting better you know they just got the bug.
Clare: So any thoughts on when the party is going to be.
Piper: the Party oh right I haven’t really thought about it. To be truthful I’m not really sure if I’ll reschedule it I might just not have it.
Clare: But Piper you were so excited to have the Party I mean that one you threw like a month ago was great everyone had tons of fun.
Piper: I know they did I had a lot of fun too but its hard work organizing and preparing for the party I just don’t feel like going through all that again just yet.
Clare: Piper it’s more then that isn’t it?
Piper: What do you mean?
Clare: Piper what’s going on? The last few months I thought I had my friend back but I can see it happening again and this time I’m not just going to give up that easy.
Piper: What are you talking about?
Clare: Piper you would tell me if you were having problems with Leo or just problems in general wouldn’t you I mean we are the best of friends right?
Piper: Of course we are the best of friends Clare but I don’t know what you getting at Leo and I have never been better and I don’t have any “problems.”
Clare: Piper don’t give me that I know something’s up again.
Piper: Again???
Clare: Piper eight years ago after your grandmother died, after you came to live in the manor with your sisters and after you left Jeremy we, your friends could feel you pulling away from us. We thought you just needed time I mean a lot had happened all of the sudden. We knew that you had a lot on your plate with your sisters and everything so we figured you just needed some space but slowly you completely cut us out of your life. Piper you got married and we weren’t even there. You don’t know how big that was for us one of the biggest moments in your life and you didn’t even ask us to be there.
Piper: Well the wedding was small, it was just family.
Clare: Still Piper we hardly heard from you at all in those three years one of the few times I saw you was at Prue’s funeral. That says something about a friendship when the few times you see each other is at a funeral. I got to give you credit tough at least we were invited to Wyatt’s baby shower of course it was then when we found out you had a half sister something you had known for almost two years but had somehow not told us about. Maybe the reason was because we never talked at all it was like we weren’t even friends anymore. But Piper all this distance that you created between you and us it seemed like during the summer you were trying so hard to bring us back into your life make things return to how they use to be. But now I can see it happening all over again you’re pushing us away again.
Piper: Clare I’m sorry but friends aren’t everything I love you girls I do but to me family comes first it always has and always will and right now my family needs me.
Clare: Your right family is more important then friends Piper but its not just family problems and you know it. Don’t try to pass that excuse off on me anymore Piper it doesn’t work. You might try and distance yourself from us again but this time I’m not just going to let you push us away I’m going to try my damn hardest to keep you close to your friends no matter what it takes.

With that Clare turns around and storms out of the house slamming the door shut behind her. Meanwhile Piper just stands there stunned at what just happened. She stands there for a while until she slowly sits on the couch next to her. And slowly you begin to see the tears roll down her cheeks and hear her gasps for breath as she begins to cry. She realizes that her distance from her friends all these years hasn’t just hurt her but it hurt them too. She wishes that she could have that life back. The life she had during the summer where she didn’t need to worry about keeping her secret or fighting demons anymore, a life where she could just be a normal woman, mother, and wife. She just sits there wondering if its all really worth it and if she could ever be a Charmed one and have a normal life at the same time.
