The Courtship of Paige

Hi this my first fan fiction but I just wanted to give it a try. So when you read please be kind.

This story takes place when Prue was still alive. Paige had not yet discovered who her real parents are but, she believed that it was Patty Halliwell was her mother.

It was late one Friday afternoon when there was a ring of the doorbell at the Halliwell Manor.

"I'll get," Phoebe hollered as she walked towards the door. When Phoebe opened the door there was a dark haired woman standing there. "Can I help you?"

The woman stood there puzzled not knowing what to do next. Finally, she gathered herself together.

"Hi, I'm Paige." She stared into Phoebe eyes noticing the similarity between the too of them.

Phoebe smiled slightly, "Is there something I can help you with?"

"I believe so. Is your mother name Patty Halliwell."

"Was, yes."

"I think I might be your sister."

Phoebe laughs slightly, "You're kidding, right?"

"I know that this must seem kind of crazy. I think I should just go."

Paige turns to walk away, but Phoebe touches her shoulder to tell her to wait. Before she could say anything she gets a premoniton of Paige being attacked by a demon.

"Um, okay Paige, right, Paige. Wait, I want you to meet my sisters. Come in, and we will talk about this."

"I don't know. I don't want to be too much trouble."

"Trouble. No it's no trouble at all," Phoebe smiles as she leads Paige into the house.

Phoebe leaves Paige in the conservatory as she goes into the kitchen where Piper and Prue are.

"Hay guys, there's a girl in the conservatory who says she is our sister."

"What? Are you crazy?" Prue scolds her. "You don't know who this girl is and you let her in the house. She could be some crazy woman or demon for all we know."

"She's an innocent, Prue. I had a vision of her getting attacked. I couldn't just let her go."

"Well, isn't that just perfect," Prue says and gives Phoebe a menacing look.

Phoebe throws her hands up in aspiration and follows Prue and Piper out of the kitchen.

In the conservatory Paige is standing looking around, when she notice them enter.

"You have a lovely place," Paige smiles.

Piper smiles and politely says thank you.

"You must be Piper," Paige extends her hand.

Piper shakes her hand and askes, "How did you know?"

"I go to your club all the time." She turns to Prue, "And you must be Prue." Again Paige extends her hand but it is not welcomed by Prue.

Prue, "What makes you think that we are your sister?"

"Prue," Piper scolds.

"No, it's okay," Paige jumps in. "If some girl just walked in off the street and told me she was my sister I would have questions too."

"It's just that our dad left when we were really young. I don't think it is possible for you to be our sister," Phoebe added.

"Well, maybe your mom, had a child by someone else."

"Don't go there," Prue said angrily.

"I'm sorry. I guess I should go."

As Paige is about to go a demon shimmers in front of her. Out of fear Paige quickly desolves into orbs as she is bearly escapes the energy ball the demon throws at her. Prue quickly flangs them demon against the wall, as Phoebe throws the athema that she had hidden under her pants leg at the demon quickly causing him to explode and die. Paige orbs back in as Phoebe is taking the knife out of the wall.

"What the hell was that?" Paige looks at the sisters and quickly runs out the door.

The sisters baffled by Paige's orbing ability do not run after her.

"Um, Leo," Piper yells.

A flash of whitelights appear and quickly turns into Leo.

"Yeah, what's up."

"What's up is there was a girl here who could orb," Prue says intensely.

"She could orb are you sure?" Leo asked.

"One minute she was here the next there was a flash of blue lights. We're pretty sure." answered Phoebe.

"A whiteligher maybe?" Leo assumed.

"We need you to ask the elders if they know anything. And we'll go look in the Book of Shadows for the demon. See if we can find who he was working for," Prue says.

"I'll get right on it."

"Leo wait," Phoebe calls. "Maybe you can ask them if she might be one of us."

"A Charmed One?"

"Yeah, our sister."

Leo looks baffled, "Sure."

As he orbs out Piper yells, "Don't be late for dinner."

Faintly, "I won't."

In the attic Prue is searching for the demon in the Book of Shadow. Phoebe sit in an old chair, while Piper prances back and forth.

"Wouldn't it be cool if we had another sister," Phoebe says.

"Another sister? Yeah right. There's no way we could have another sister. Could we. No there's no way." Piper rambles.

"We don't have to worry about," Prue tries to calm Piper down. "There's no way that mom could have another child without someone telling us."

Just then Cole shimmers in covered in scars and blood.

Phoebe races towards him and touches his scars, "Oh, poor baby."

"Oh, it's nothing just a few scratches, damn bounty hunters." Cole pulls away and noticed Piper walking back and forth and Prue searching through the book. "What's going on here?"

"We have another sister," Phoebe smiled.

"Another sister? The power of four, just doesn't have the same ring to it."

Prue looks at Phoebe viciously. "She is not our sister."

"She might be," Phoebe whispers.

"What is taking Leo so long?" Piper looks up to the ceiling. "Leo!"

Leo orbs into the room. "She's not a whitelighter. The Elders say that they don't know who she is."

"Figures," mutters Piper.

"Found him," Prue annouces. "It doesn't say much about him. He was one of the source's soliders."

"The Source? Why would he be after her?" Piper askes.

"Well, this would be why she say she is your sister." Leo jumps in. "Could you imagine the already powerful Charmed Ones with sister. You would pretty much be invincible."

"Maybe I could see what I can find out in the underworld," says Cole.

Phoebe looks at him, "No, you want. It's too dangerous."

Before Cole could answer Prue jumps in, "Well, it's a fast way to find out what is going on. Besides, Cole can protect himself."

Phoebe scowls at Prue, then turns to Cole. "I don't want anything to happen to you."

"I'll be okay," Cole kisses her and shimmers away.

"Maybe you can get a premonition from the picture in the book," Prue suggests to Phoebe.

Phoebe walks to the book and touches it. She gets a premoniton of Paige dancing. From the surroundings she could tell it was P3.

"I know where she will be tonight," Phoebe smiles and closes the book.

The girls arrive at the club that night in search of Paige.

"Alright, spread out. We'll find her quicker that way," commands Prue.

Each of the girls go their separate ways in the club.

Piper spots Paige dancing and walks up to her. "I'm so glad I found. We have to get you back to the manor."

Paige looks wide eyed at Piper. "Stay away from me." She walks away.

Out of fustration Piper throughs out her hands and freezes the room.

Paige noticed the sudden change and turns to Piper. "What are you?" She runs out the side door in of the club.

"Prue, Phoebe over her hurry."

The girls meet up and chase Paige out of the club. When they come outside Paige is almost at the end of the alley.

"Hay, we can protect you," Piper yells.

Paige stops and turns around, "Protect me from what? You?" She starts to head out the alley.

Prue squints her eyes knocks some trash can in Paige's way.

"What do you want from me?" Paige asks giving up.

"We want to help you," Prue says. "We want to help you find the truth. Please, just give us one chance. If we can't help you then we will leave you alone."

"I don't need your help," Paige turns to walk away.

"We think you might be our sister," Phoebe yells.

Paige turns and looks at them.

All four of the girls arrive at the manor and head up the stairs to the attic. When they reach the doorway of the attic, Cole shimmers in, in front of them, causing Paige to orb out once again.

When Paige orbs back in she is stunned and doesn't know rather to yell or run.

Piper notices the terrified look on face and tries to soothe her. "It's okay Paige, he's a good guy."

"I guess it's going to be hard to tell the good guys from the bad guys seeing how they all come and go in the same way," Paige sighs in relief.

They all walk into the room and sit down.

"What did you find out?" Phoebe asks Cole.

"Well, my resources tell me that the Source think that she might be another Charmed One. A compeletion of a circle that could tipped the balance way in your favor."

"A Charmed One?" Paige askes.

"Yeah, we're, um, witches," Piper says then smiles at Paige.

"Well, that explains a lot," Paige laughs.

"There's no way." Prue says then begins to flip through the pages of the Book of Shadows.

"What are you doing?" Phoebe asked.

"Summoning Grams." Prue begins to place candles in the middle of the floor. She goes back to the book and begins to read to encantation.

When she finishes there is a swirl of white lights that settles and forms into Grams. "Oh, girls it's so good to see you again."

"We didn't call you for pleasantries, Grams," says Prue. "We wanted to asked you about our sister."

"Your what? Your sister? I don't know what you are talking about." Grams stumbles over her words as the obvious look of deceit on her face.

"Give up Grams," Piper says, "We can always tell when you are lieing."

Grams sighs and gives in, "Okay fine you have a sister."

Everyone in the room is shocked to hear this.

"What? Really?" Piper says. "Why didn't you tell us this before?"

"I couldn't. I was sworn to secrecy."

"By who?" asks Phoebe.

"Your mother."

"What? Why wouldn't she want anyone to know about me?" Paige asked, you could see the disappointment on her face.

Grams turns towards Paige. With a shocking look on her face she touches Paige faces. "Paige?" She gasps. "It's wasn't like that at all dear. She did it for your safety for all your safeties. Patty fell in love with her whitelighter and had a child by him, you. Back then whitelighters and witches were not allowed to date let alone have children. We didn't know what they would do to you, so we had to hide you. Give you the life you deserved." Grams turns toward Piper, Prue, and Phoebe. "I'm so sorry girls."

"This would explan why you could orb," Phoebe says.

"Orb?" Paige askes.

"Yeah, orbing is like having the ability to transfer you molecules from one place to another. I've noticed that it seem to happen when you get scared," Phoebe answers.

Grams interrupts them, "You have so much to do now girls. It's time you for you to get ready."

"Ready? Ready for what?" asks Prue.

"With Paige around, you girls are practically unstopable. Of course that's only if you learn to work together and depend on each other. You girls are at your best when you work together. You have to train Paige and learn to get close with her. Your lives may depend on it. Now that The Source knows about Paige he will do anything to stop you. I'm betting that you will see more demonic activity than you have ever seen. I wish you the best of luck, blessed be."

"Blessed be," the girls say together.

Grams once dissolves inot a swarm of white lights, then disappears.

Paige stands up and grabs her bag, "Okay, thank you guys for being so nice, but I thim I'm going to go now."

"Paige wait," Piper says. Paige turns to face her. "I understand how freaked out you must be right now. I was the same way when we first got our powers. But this is your desiny, you can't just run from it."

"My destiny. I just met you people a couple of hours ago and you think that you can tell me my destiny. I decide my destiny," Paige turns and races down the stairs.

Piper starts to go after her but Prue calls her back, "Piper don't, let her go."

"Well, what are we going to do now?" Piper asks as she turns to face Prue.

"We wait," Prue answers and smiles.

"Wait for what?" Phoebe asks.

"Like Piper said this is her destiny. She can run away now, but like or not she will be back."

Paige opens the door to her loft. "What a hell of a week it has been," she says as she throws her bag unto the countertop. It has been a week since she has last seen her sisters, and nothing seemed to be going right for her since then. All she could seem to think about was the crazy ordeal that happened back at that house. If only she could get them out of her head then maybe she could go on with her life.

Paige sat on the couch and sank into deep thought. When the phone rang. "Yeah," she answers.

"Hay, I was just calling to check in on you," it was her long time friend Glen on the other line. "I haven't heard from you in a week and I was getting kind of scared," he laughs.

"Yeah, it's been a weird week."

"You want to talk about it?"

"Not really. Even if I did you wouldn't believe me."

"Things didn't go to well with the Halliwells, I guess."

"No, they're a group of......"

Paige gets cut of in her words when a demon shimmers into her loft. He throws a fireball her way. She manges to orb out, but this time not because she was scared, it was because she wanted to. As she orbs back in she is grabbed by the arm and orbed away.

When she finally gets settled she notices that she is back in the home of the Halliwells. She pulls away from this strange man who held her arm. She starts to head toward the door.

"Paige wait," Leo calls.

She turns to face him, "I don't know what connection you have with the sisters but I am out of here."

She goes to the door but before she could open it , it opens by itself. On the other side was Prue, coming home for lunch after a long day at work.

"Paige?" Prue asks as if to question why she was there.

"She was attacked today," Leo answers.

"How did you know I was attack?" She asks Leo then turns to Prue, "What do yo have people spying on me now."

"It's not like that Paige," Leo answers, "I'm your whitelighter and your guide, it's my job to watch over you."

"So what you are saying is that it's your job to intrude into my life. Yeah, I think I will leaving now."

"There will be more you know. No matter what road you choose they won't stop coming after you." Paige pushes pass her. "Let us at least train you, to defend yourself."

"Fine," Paige says with her back to Prue. She turns around, "I have to work now. I'll be tomorrow."

Prue smiles and Paige turns and leave.

Training: Day 1


Paige arrived early that morning at the Halliwell Manor. If she was going to be attacked by those beasts then she was going to be ready.

Paige opens the always unlocked door, "Anybody home." She goes inside and takes a look around. "Great I take a week off and nobody's here," she throws her hands up as in exhaustion with the situation.

"Paige," Leo says from behind her.

Paige turns to face him, "Where is everybody?"

"Today you will be training with me."

"With you?"

"Who better to teach you how to control your orbs than a whitelighter," Leo smiles.

"Alrighty then," Paige claps her hand, "let's get started."

The two of them move into the basement so that no one would notice the flash of blue lights coming out of the house.

"Okay Paige," Leo says, "being that you are half-whitelighter, half-witch you should be able to manipulate your orbs in ways that no ordinary whitelighter can."

"Manipulate? What do you mean?"

Leo shoots a blasts of white orbs for his hands.

"So you're telling me I can just conjure these orbs at anytime," Paige says in amazement.

"Well, every person's powers grow in different ways and at different rates. Right now you can only orb, but with the right training and determination anything is possible."

Leo sits in Indian style on the floor, "The first thing we need to work on is your meditation."

"Meditation," Paige whines.

"You have to learn to center yourself. The secret to every whitelighter is tranquility. You have to be at peace with yourself even in the toughest situations."

Paige huffs and sits on the floor. The two of them begin their meditation drills.

Later that day Phoebe arrives home. She goes down to the basement, "Hay guys, just was checking to see how Paige was getting along."

"Paige has made great progress today," Leo says.

"Yeah, watch this," she says as she orbs out and then reappears behind Phoebe.

"Whoa, that's great," Phoebe laughs as she turns to look at Paige.

"To be honest I thought this whole training thing was going to be a lot harder."

"Today has just been easy because you have such a great teacher," Phoebe smiles at Leo. "It you want to see hard, wait until your day with Prue tomorrow."

Training: Day 2

Prue and Paige are in the kitchen. They are mixing potions.

"And a pinch of rosemary," Paige says as she throws the rosemary into the pot. The pot poofs and smokes but nothing happens.

"It's a simple conjuring potion, can't you get it right," Prue was getting really frustrated at this point. She and Paige had been working on this potion all morning.

Paige throws her hands up in exhaustion and let's them rest by her side, "I'm sorry, I'm just not getting it."

Prue sighs, "Okay, let's try this again." As Prue lists the ingredients Paige throws them into the pot, "Wattleseed, bindweed, clematis seed...."

Paige picks up pomagrante seed and throws them into the pot.

"Pay attention to what you are doing," Prue yells.

"I'm trying, I'm trying," Paige says as she scrambles through the bottles on the counter.

"God, you act like such an airhead."

Paige grabs her jacket from a nearby countertop and leaves the room. Prue goes after her.

"Oh, so now you're just going to leave."

"Destiny or not I do not have to take this."

"Take what, you're the one acting like this is a joke. Well missy, I have news for you, this is everyday life around here. You have a demon try to kill you every and we'll see how much of a joke it is to you."

Paige rolls her eyes, "This is not a joke to me." She pauses, "You know what, I don't have to listen to some, some, oooh, talk to me like I'm stupid."

Paige turns to leave again but Leo and Piper orbs in front of her.

"Hay, what's going on here," Piper says looking concerned.

"She's giving up," Prue responds.

Paige turns around and looks at Prue, "She called me an airhead.

"I never called you an airhead, I said you were acting like one."

Paige rolls her eyes and swiftly turns her head to face Piper again.

Piper smiles, "You two are acting like childern. I'm sure if you two can come up with a common ground you can work this out."

Paige places her hands on her hips, "There is no common ground with her. If you're not perfect then you're not good enough for Prue."

"That's so not true," Prue says as she moves to face Paige. "You don't know me well enough to make that statement."

"Yeah, well, first impression is a BITCH," Paige responds.

As Piper was about to jump into the middle of them two a demon shimmers in.

"Piper," Prue yells as she flangs the demon to the ground with a wave of her hand.

Leo quickly grabs Piper and the two of them orb out. The demon gets back to his feet and throws a fireball. As a reflex Paige throws her hands up to shield herself and a forcefield appears shieldind her and Prue from the fireball. The demon, as well as Prue and Paige, looks in amazement. Piper and Leo orb in behind the demon and she freezes him. Paige puts her hands down lowering the forcefield. Prue squints her eyes and moves the demon unto the nearby coat rack, vanquishing him.

Piper looks at Prue and Paige, "You think you two can work together now."

Prue and Paige look at each other and smiles.
