Rising from the ashes
Her heart was beating fast, her feet stumbling in her high heels as she ran down the dark alleyway. He was close, she ran for her life. Glancing behind her she tripped forwards crashing into the wall. He stood over her breathing heavily, Taking out an athamay she started sobbing pleading with him
‘Please no don’t please’ she begged
Taking no notice, he plunged the blade in to her before taking the emblem from her neck He smiled to himself putting it in his pocket.
Another one down only 1 more to go…
Phoebe flicked through the book of shadows impatiently she had enough on her mind without a demon targeting witches. She looked at the vivid drawings that filled the book she didn’t even know what she was looking for. Phoebe sighed deeply before slamming the book shut. She sat down on the nearby chair and closed her eyes, gently massaging her forehead. Leo orbed in behind her
‘Hey!’ he said putting a hand on her shoulder
Phoebe reacted by elbowing him in the stomach. Hard.
‘Oh god Leo! I’m so sorry I thought…’ Phoebe trailed off and calmly added ‘im just a bit on edge’
‘No problem’ Leo groaned obviously winded ‘another witch had been murdered’
‘Oh no not another!’ Phoebe winced ‘Any leads?’
‘No he’s hiding his trail well, which is why the elders think He’s an upper level demon they are the only ones with that kind of power’
‘Well that narrows it down’ replied phoebe sarcastically
Piper entered the attic; she smiled broadly at both of them until she recognized their expressions she sighed
‘Why is it you can’t ever bring good news Leo?’ Piper asked
‘Sorry honey’ Leo went and put his arms around her
‘Another murder?’ Piper asked phoebe nodded ‘any leads?’
‘All we know is that he has to be an upper level demon’ Phoebe sighed
‘Well what about the victims any connection there?’ Piper asked
‘As far as I know, no’ Leo added
Phoebe stood up ‘so basically we got.’
Piper cut in ‘na da’
Laying the last emblem on the table, Carna started to chant
A swirl of red light started to rise from the emblems moving towards him in the shape of the ancient bird the Phoenix. However, before it touched him, it vanished
‘Damm! I still need more!’ Carna paced up and down his dark lair before breaking into a smile ‘and I know just where to get it’
Phoebe tossed and turned in her bed. Couldn’t sleep with all that was happening around here, she yawned before getting out of bed. Pulling on a dressing gown, she made her way into the hall; 2:15am the clock read. Suddenly she heard the floorboards creak she whipped round…nothing there.
‘Calm down’ Phoebe told herself ‘there it was again! Above me, the attic’
She slowly crept up the stairs; her breathing became short, hot breaths. Phoebe stood behind the door, listening. Chanting was coming from the attic in a harsh whisper, Phoebe flung open the door. A hooded creature was standing arms outstretched over the book chanting, trying to break through its protective barrier. He barley looked up before Phoebe was flung across the attic
‘PIPER! PAIGE!’ Phoebe yelled, She realised glass was sticking inside her side bleeding heavily. Paige and Piper orbed into the attic, rushing to Phoebe’s side.
‘The book’ Phoebe mumbled.
Piper stood up blasting the demon he flinched but carried on nevertheless.
‘Book’ Paige cried it appeared in her arms in white orbs
‘You will regret this witches, just you wait!’ The demon yelled before shimmering away. Paige and Piper stood there speechless for a moment
‘Help!’ Phoebe yelled at them clutching her side
‘Leo’ Piper yelled holding a cloth against Phoebe’s wound
He appeared in white orbs looking surprised
‘What happened?’ he asked
‘Talk later, heal now’ Piper said watching as he placed his hands over her wound.
A while later the sisters and Leo sat in the sunroom, hot tea in their hands. Phoebe had told them what she had found the demon doing.
‘So he was after the book? Do you think he is the same guy who has been killing the other witches?’’ Paige inquired taking a sip of tea
‘Possibly’ Leo frowned ‘But he’s been after witches not their shadow book’s’
Piper did not comment she sipped her tea thoughtfully.
‘Well maybe he needs something from the book to get a certain witch?’ Phoebe offered. Leo smiled politely and Paige made a dumb face
‘Since when did the book tell us how to kill other witches?’
‘No not kill them but like how to undo a protection spell?’ Phoebe said rather embarrassed. Paige looked at Leo
‘It’s a possibility, what we need to find out though is his next move so no more witches are killed’ He looked expectantly at the girls
‘I will check upstairs to see if anything of his or him was left’ Paige stood up
‘And me and phoebe will check the book for any anti protection spell’ Piper added
Paige stretched out her body yawning deeply
‘Its gonna be a long, long night’
‘How could some little witches stop me?’ Carna yelled sending a energy ball at the wall. The stone cracked and fell to the ground, Carna breathed heavily.
‘Don’t worry about them I have covered you tracks well, we will soon have what we want and the charmed ones wont be a problem.’ Another voice said calmly
‘We better’ Carna replied.
Piper and Phoebe turned the aging pages of the book of shadows. So far they had found nothing, and they were both frustrated. Paige hadn’t found anything either and being sleep deprived didn’t help
‘This is hopeless’ Phoebe groaned pleading with piper
‘nope you are not getting out of this Phoebe, do you want more witches to die?’ Piper asked she knew it would work Phoebes face looked guiltily at the book
‘ok ok! No need to tell me twice’
‘I wasn’t going to’ Piper smiled
Leo appeared in white orbs looking pleased Piper smiled
‘Do you have good news for once?’
‘Well I have a connection between the three murdered witches’ Leo explained ‘They were part of a group of witches who protected the Phoenix’
‘The phoenix? Isn’t that an ancient mythical bird?’ Piper asked
‘Yes except that it isn’t mythical. It is a bearer of very powerful magic and these witches were assigned to protect it’ Leo continued ‘They each wear an amulet around they’re necks with the symbol of the phoenix engraved on a silver pendent. Each one represents a different element of the phoenix that makes it so powerful. If all 4 are put together the power is released into the host who has called it basically making him indestructible’
‘So not even the power of three can stop him?’ Phoebe asked
‘No, and he already has three of the amulets we need to find the last bearer and fast’
