CHARMED: THE FINAL EPISODE
TEASER
The light that streamed through the entrance was almost ethereal; it was true, how they said moonlight appears almost silver. The metallic water beneath her reflected her image back to herself. She knew it was her own reflection but she did not know what she saw as her own self. Perhaps the only true way to define the metamorphosis of death was to say the person was being reborn. She couldn’t be reborn though, not while she was still holding onto him, fearful that if she let go, the moment would be gone. She wanted to stay with him for all eternity after all she had earned it. Or had she?
She wasn’t ready. Piper pulled back slowly, afraid to know the truth. The call of her ancestors seemed but an echo, her reaction distant. She bit her lip; short, soft bursts of air expelled from her nose as she lapsed in silent sobs. She was between life and death, not sure which way to go. She wanted her husband back. She wanted Leo to be sent back to her.
“Piper...” It was an instant, irreversible effect. Reeling from six years of grief struck her directly in the face when the silhouette of her sister appeared in the distance. She wanted to call out but her voice wouldn’t sound. Like some sort of seventh sense, Piper’s sight flashed forward. She witnessed her slowly drifting deeper and deeper into the water. It was a sign and Piper knew it, although she didn’t want to believe.
“Prue.”
PART 01 “reminisce of the final plight” -
____
The Halliwell legacy remained true. It was always the strongest and most willing in the line to go. First Melinda then, in a cruel twist of fate Penny Halliwell was killed before the sister’s grandmother finally departed from the earthly plain. Soon after, Prue’s will for life perished, causing Piper’s anger to flourish into rage. The source was finally put to his grave months later. It wasn’t another five years until hell would befall earth once more. The latter timeframe existing for a reason, to make things seeming perfect fall apart. Piper, Phoebe and Paige had gotten their normal life, or so it seemed; until the Triad resurfaced. Like a cruel twist of fate a battle exploded leaving signs of death scattered all around the manor. Both of Paige’s loves, Simon and Henry were left dead and hanging off the manor stairway. Billie had been hit by a car and blown to kingdom come while trying to reel from a paranoia curse cast on her by a possessed Christy who has since disappeared. It was the final battle and as the prophecy commanded only the sisters were worthy of participating. The Angel of Destiny was barred from returning Leo and quickly tore apart the sister’s powers to see if they were truly magical by nature and not by chance. If they were to get their powers back they had to earn them. Phoebe had just realized she was pregnant, although she had no idea who the father could have been. Because she was pregnant with her first child she was not allowed to fight, according to Piper’s commands. They managed to find a spell in the book of shadows that would protect only one sister. Phoebe unwillingly agreed to use the books one time protection curse. Paige was in no shape to fight, having watched both of her one true loves mauled and gouged in front of her eyes, unable to do anything to help. She was just as weak as Phoebe and hesitantly agreed to shelter with the remaining elders with Chris and Wyatt. Paige wouldn’t have left her sister alone, had her sense of who she was not been jammed to a halt from the effects of such a cataclysmic like battle. The Triad had resurfaced and had no trouble infecting all demons, warlocks, Darklighters and other magical creatures with the mindset of one goal: to kill the sisters at all costs.
With Phoebe and Paige out of the game, fate left only one sister to finish the job.
Fuelled by her love for Leo, Piper took on evil of all kinds. Her power of freezing returned, but it would not be perfect and wouldn’t last. After being wounded, her explosive powers emerged once more, which allowed her a small sidestep to safety. Phoebe, frantically wanting to help, found a spell in the book of shadows that would transfer all of her and Paige’s energies to Piper though at a price. She enchanted the spell, which had an abundance of “the end” lines in it. Phoebe personalized the spell, remembering she was the one who first found the book of shadows before receiving a final premonition. One she couldn’t make out clearly. She saw the book of shadows was floating into the same chest that it was pulled out of it and a silhouetted figure grabbed it at the last breath. The premonition then tore into pieces of the past. Andy’s death, her love for Cole, Prue’s death, her love for her job, Chris’s death, her want for a normal life, Leo’s freezing and to the future. A daughter turned around in the sunset, she spoke to Phoebe via a subliminal question: “what is our destiny mom?” In a blaze, Phoebe was hurdled out of the premonition and fell to the floor, her powers transferred to the only sister that could save them.
Piper felt a jolt in her neck as she was knocked into the table and fell to the ground. It wasn’t a demon; it was all of the strength of her one and true sister Phoebe hitting her all at that moment. Sensing a sign of weakness a pair of Darklighters, possessed Avatars and a load of possessor demons invaded the manor. Piper froze the crossbows that were aimed at her before throwing an evil glare at the Darklighters who retreated. She then blew up the avatar and levitate kicked one possessor demon into the wall. It wasn’t enough. She didn’t have time to swerve around and avoid an energy balled which bashed her into the parlor.
Up in elder sanctuary Paige was mourning the loss of Henry and Simon. Elders knew not to go anywhere near her. She was unable to speak or breathe, feeling it was her fault they were lost. Only she knew what it felt like to experience a mind like numbness that drowned any sense of hope she once had. First it was her parents, then Shane, then Kyle and now more innocent people being affected by her magic. She didn’t want anything to do with it anymore. Somewhere in her heart she knew that Piper wasn’t doing so well on her own. Phoebe’s spell began to take effect. Paige felt half of herself leaving her physical body, draining her of consecutive thought for a few seconds until she realized what not helping Piper might mean, and let her Whitelighter self go completely. A bizarre side effect from the spell afflicted her causing her to stand up. Elders and Whitelighters watched by solemnly in the distance as a scream erupted from Paige’s voice. A scream that could drown out the heavens, cause rain, even kill. Her emotions, her insides, all of her thoughts were escalating out through her throat in a multitude of decibels. She didn’t care. The air around her began to cool as the noise stopped and Paige regained herself. Her eyes set on an idea.
Confusion lurked the manor when demons witnessed the eldest charmed one orb out beneath them. It wasn’t her doing though. The moment Piper accidentally orbed into the Triad’s lair she knew she’d made a mistake. The triad three, grim to the core and invincible at worst knew she was coming and didn’t allow any time for pleasantries. A fireball thrashed Piper almost spontaneously as she entered, throwing her painfully across the dungeon. It was like they knew all along that Phoebe would induce a spell to help her sisters, unintentionally signing her sister’s death sentence.
“Prue!” she screamed out in a bewildered panic. It was no use. Her sister was dead. There was nothing Prue could do to help this time. “Pathetic, isn’t it?” Asmodeus, the leader of the triad remarked utterly. The three foreboding figures had everything down to the line but there was something that the youngest charmed one had up her sleeve they didn’t see coming.
A flash of bright white lights blinded them; Piper recognized them as orbs but being shocked and dazed, became frightened of them. As the orbs faded, standing in front of her with his hand out like a savior stood Chris. Her future son was back to save his family, not once but twice.
