I’m back again. I will be continuing my other fics, but my muse encouraged me to start this one so I hope you enjoy it.
This fic was written to resolve the endless discussion about why Wyatt is so much more powerful than Chris.
Maybe he isn’t. Chris never said he was. He might have had an inferiority complex but that could have many sources. This is the story that explains exactly why he seems to be less powerful.
`Absolute Power´ is the title of this fic. It comes from `Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely`
This fic is probably going to be short and it starts in the middle of one of the Charmed Ones crisis’s. We will of course be following Chris. The story is set between Wrong Days Journey Into Right (aka Stormy Leather) and Witch Wars ( aka Reality Check). Everything that happened before has happened.
Enjoy!
Chris ran through the dark and damp p@ssages of the underworld. All he could hear was the sound of his own footsteps and his hasty breathing as he ran through the tunnels, trying to make out the walls and turns in the darkness ahead of him. The only light was produced by torches that were placed on the walls every fifty feet.
He was getting close.
He could feel it.
He only hoped he wasn’t too late…
No, he thought, If they were hurt, I’d know.
He could hear voices now. The sound of demons cheering in triumph sent chills down his spine.
He had to get there in time.
He was close, he knew it.
He only hoped he would be able to save them. If anything happened to them, it would be all his fault.
He quickened his pace as the roaring grew ever louder. He cursed for not being able to orb in any closer. There was an anti-orbing shield around the spot where his mother and aunts were being held.
He didn’t have much time left. If he didn’t hurry, the demons would kill them.
He was nearly there now, he could see the light coming from a cave to his right. His panicked state, produced by the fear of losing the ones he loved most, caused him to throw caution to the wind.
He didn’t have time to make a plan, all he could think of was getting there in time to help out any way he could. He would never forgive himself if he didn’t.
As he ran through the entrance of the cave, he came to a halt.
The cavern was enormous. Close to a hundred demons were gathered in the room, yelling in triumph as they stood excitedly, all turned towards the center of the room.
There was a site that made his heart stop beating. His mother and aunts were all tied to poles in the middle of the room, their hands tied behind their backs, utterly helpless.
This was a sight that Chris had never seen in his life. He had always known the Charmed Ones to keep on fighting until the very end, until their very last breath, to never give up.
But what he saw in front of him was utter defeat. The situation was hopeless, they had no means to escape.
Chris was pulled out of his state of shock by his mother’s voice.
“Chris! Get out of here now!” he heard it echo through the cave, and he saw his mother’s angry and worried gaze, as she was worried for his safety. She wouldn’t let anything happen to one of her boys.
As he saw the demons approach him, he made his decision. If his mother and aunts died, it would be all his fault. That would mean that he had caused them to die before their time, and he couldn’t live with that. And without the Charmed Ones, the future was definitely doomed.
Piper watched her son as tears started to form in her eyes. She wouldn’t let him die, she couldn’t. She saw him mouth the words to her.
`I have to do this, I love you`
Piper didn’t know what he was going to do, but she saw the haunted look in his eyes as he mouthed the words to her. Chris was a martyr, she knew it and she wouldn’t let Chris do anything stupid to save her, but she was helpless. All she could do was watch…
Chris felt the anger begin to boil inside himself as he saw the demons. He knew what had to be done. It was for the sake of the future.
Chris dug deep down inside himself to find the source of his power. He had long ago sworn never to use it, but now, he had no choice.
He found the power he had suppressed for so long and he unleashed it.
Piper, Phoebe and Paige gasped as they saw flames flash in Chris´ eyes.
He fired up an energy ball in each hand and mercilessly threw them at the two demons nearest to him and they went up in flames.
Blinded by his anger and hate, he threw energy ball after energy ball at the shocked demons in front of him. Some of the demons moved to quickly kill his family members before he reached them, but with a wave of his hand, he sent all who were near to his loved ones crashing into the walls, where they burst into flames as they hit the jagged cave walls.
He suddenly felt a stinging feeling on the back of his shoulder and he turned around to face the demon that had thrown the fireball at him.
Chris slowly closed his fist and a maniacal grin spread across his face as he watched the demon sink to his knees while frantically scratching at his chest and struggling to breath. Chris closed his fist completely and the demon erupted into flames, before disappearing completely.
Chris now surveyed the scene as many of the demons fled for their lives. He powered up a few more energy balls and released them on the frantic demons.
The last demon was about to shimmer away, but Chris motioned with his hand and the demon was dragged towards him. Chris grabbed him by the throat as he menacingly gazed into the frightened demon’s eyes.
“Let this be a warning to you all. Tell your master never to mess with the Charmed Ones or their family ever again,” he said coldly as he dropped the petrified demon to the ground. The demon then hurriedly shimmered out.
Piper watched her son walk over to her. She felt like her hart had been ripped out.
“God, please, no,” she whispered as she watched her little boy walk over to her with a coldness in his eyes that made her cry out in anguish. She had lost her sweet, caring baby boy.
With a wave of his hand, Chris undid the binds that held the sisters tied to their poles. They quickly tore themselves away from the poles. Phoebe and Paige backed up away from Chris, but Piper wasn’t going to give up on him. She remembered his last words to her, `I have to do this, I love you`. They gave her strength, she knew he could be saved.
She walked up to him until she was standing right in front of him.
“Please, Chris. Don’t give up on everything you fought for,” she said as she tried to hold back her tears, “You’re good, we know you are. This isn’t you. Fight it.”
As Chris heard the words, something inside him clicked. He could feel the struggle inside of him. He could feel the dark forces as they tried to take a hold of him.
He wouldn’t let them win. He knew he was good. He couldn’t give up.
Piper saw the flames disappear from his eyes.
The dark forces inside of him were strong, they were threatening to win. His internal struggle was draining his energy.
“Mom” he called out as he felt his legs give way and his vision started to cloud.
The last thing he felt were his mother’s hands that held onto his arms before he fell into darkness.

Well there it is. If you want me to continue, please say so and also tell me what you think. Thanks for reading!
