Chapter 1
“Wyatt! Wake up, Wyatt!” Piper bursts into Wyatt’s room on yet another Monday morning.
Wyatt groans and looks at the alarm clock by his bed. “It’s only 6:45, ma. I got another five minutes or so.”
“Oh no, you don’t, mister! I’ve got to head to the club early today and I don’t have time for this!”
“Oh come on, mom. Just give me a few more minutes.”
“You get up now, mister,” Piper shakes her finger, her face scrunched up as she waves her hand and blows up the pillow by Wyatt’s face.
“Mom! Not again!” Wyatt jumps up, staring at the feathered mess.
“Don't make me do that again,” Piper gives a mischievous grin at her oldest son.
“Remember, it’s not coming out of my budget when you blow up stuff in my room,” Wyatt gives Piper a wink and heads to the bathroom.
“Well, at least it woke you right up,” Piper cocks her head sideways and heads downstairs to the kitchen
In the bathroom, Wyatt turns on the faucet and washes his face. He stares at himself in the mirror and wonders what today was going to bring. He was finally a senior this year. At last, he won’t have to worry about his head being dunked in the toilet anymore. Those punks are finally gone. Wyatt shudder just thinking about it. He quickly got ready and headed down the stairs. How he had wished that he could’ve used his powers against those bullies. But if Piper had found out, he’d have to sit through another long lecture… and maybe getting another pillow or stuffed animal blown up. His thoughts quickly dispersed when he smelled Piper’s wonderful cooking.
“Smells good, Mom,” Wyatt came into the kitchen and kissed Piper on the cheek.
Chris was already sitting at the table, a toast in hand and a “Rolling Stones” magazine in the other. Leo was working on unclogging the sink and fixing the pipes around the house.
Chris glances hazily at Wyatt, “You sleep too much. You know too much sleep is bad for you.”
“How the heck are you able to get up at the crack of dawn?” Wyatt sits down at the table and steals one of Chris’s rolls.
“Hey!” Chris glares at Wyatt as he took a bite of the roll, “That was mine!”
“You’ve got plenty left. Quit your whining.”
“How dare you!” Chris used his telekinesis and sent the roll flying across the room, hitting Leo in the process.
“Boys!” Leo snapped at the brothers as part of the pipe broke and splashes Leo with a muddy-like substance. “Oh, great… look at what you made me do.”
“Oops,” Chris tries to stifle his laughter but failed.
“Yeah, Chris,” Wyatt sends a roll flying so that it hits Chris in the face, “You’re such an immature bonehead.”
“OK! Enough!” Piper grabs the rolls from the boys before they could inflict anymore damage, “Stop that! I have enough to worry about today. I don’t need the two of you giving me more to deal with. I really think you guys were so much cuter when you couldn’t talk.”
“Sorry mom,” the two boys chimed at the same time and proceeded to continue their breakfast.
“That’s better,” Piper nods and sets the rolls down along with some eggs, bacon, and sausage. Then she turns to look at her husband and the mess that was made, “And I’ll go and get you a towel.”
“Forget the towel,” Leo gets up from the mess, “I’ll just go and take a shower… and I’ll clean this up later. You’ve got enough to worry about.”
“All right,” Piper takes a deep breath and grabs her keys, “Wyatt, you’ll take Chris to school today, right? And no funny business.”
“Sure, roll into school with a sophomore,” Wyatt replies sarcastically, “That’s just asking to be made fun of. But sure, I’ll spare whatever coolness I have left as a senior and take Chris to school.”
“Oh, for crying out loud! I don’t have time for this,” Piper tucks a few strands of hair behind her ear, “Chris, finish up fast and I’ll take you to school.”
Chris gave Wyatt a serious look and then smiles at his mom, “Great… and on the way, we can talk about having my band play at P3.”
“Sure, sure,” Piper gestures for Chris, “Let’s go.”
The two file out the door, leaving Wyatt to look nervously at Leo.
“Did you really have to do that?” Leo has grabbed some towels and is wiping off some of the grime on his face.
“What is wrong with mom?” Wyatt asks, “This kind of stuff happens almost every morning but she has never been so… snappy.”
“If I tell you… please don’t tell your mom I told you this… or else she’ll be mad at me.”
“Tell me, dad.”
“Well, hasn’t the underworld been a little too quiet lately?”
“Yeah… so? Demons need a vacation too, right?”
“Maybe. But your aunt Phoebe has had a premonition. It would seem that somehow… the demons might have found a way to resurrect a source of all evil again.”
“Even without the Grimoire?” Wyatt was astonished to hear the news.
“We don’t know the specifics right now. Phoebe’s premonitions only told us so much. The elders have sent someone to investigate but we have had no leads to the situation yet.”
Ever since Leo was brought back from being frozen, the Charmed ones and the elders had agreed to somewhat work together. Leo was like a messenger between the girls and the elders. And if there were any pressing matters in the underworld, Leo would occasionally call on the elders to get their advice. Leo remains a mortal but he had been given a special medallion to carry so that he could summon the elders when he needs to.
Wyatt nods as he takes in the new information. This could promise to be a challenging battle. He loves the idea and it is giving him a rush. Wyatt loves battling demons day in and day out.
Leo puts a hand on Wyatt’s shoulder, “Hey buddy, you might want to start heading out now. You don’t want to be late for school.”
“If worse comes to worse, I could just orb there,” Wyatt shrugs as he grabs his backpack and his keys.
“You know your mom doesn’t like you using magic at school,” Leo warned.
“Yeah, yeah… bye, dad.” With a wave of his hand, Wyatt was out of the door.
Leo sighs as he looks around the empty house. It was time to get into the shower and get the sink fixed.
MEANWHILE… IN THE UNDERWORLD…
A group of demons surround a large stone table that has a set of claws in the middle of it. The head demon flashes an evil smile as he steps up to the pillar. He puts a large diamond-like rock on top of the claws. Immediately, the claws grasp the diamond and a bright light shines towards the sky.
“It is time,” the demon puts his hand over the rock and chants a verse very quietly.
The other demons gather around and each threw a fireball at the diamond. When the last demon had thrown their fireball, a burst of flames erupt and a lone figure stands on top of the stone table. He is back.
