Paige Matthews was looking at a picture in a magizine. The beautiful, gold necklace caught her eyes. There was something about it that captured her attention. Overcome with desire, she looked around her office and then said, in a commanding voice, "Necklace."
The shinny metal begged her to open it, and she couldn't resist. Her fingers touched the openings, and her hands spread apart the sides of the locket, opening it.
What was inside the golden locket was something that wasn't usually found in any kind of necklace. The man stood, looking at the stunned, young witch. "What time is this?" he repeated from seven years ealier.
The scenary looked different than before. Prue's office was more plain: a large glass window facing the street, a large wooden desk, a few artifacts, and some papers. Paige's was filled with more personal items: pictures of her family, a more modern desk, and papers lying everywhere. It was easy to tell which was the more organized of the two.
"Huh?" the youngest Charmed One replied, confused by his speech and attire. Not to mention his appearance on his arrival into her office.
The man made a go toward Paige, so she did the first thing that came to her mind. The man smiled after the blue lights. "Interesting," Matthew Tate said to himself, smiling. "I have found more Warren witches."
Leo was at the hardware store buying supplies needed to fix a few light fixtures in the kitchen, the dishwasher, and the sink. Ironically, the damage wasn't caused due to the demonic threat revolved around the Sisters. Since no magic was involved in causing the crime, Leo decided to fix up the kitchen using his hands. He was on a handyman high from a few new charges he had just recently received. Posing as the "Heavenly Handyman" was Leo Wyatt's alter ego to watch after his charges without suspicion.
Phoebe was in the living room, writing her next column for the Bay Mirror. She found it more comfortable to work from home instead of in her office with Elise coming in and out of her office to check on her and make sure she completed her articles on time.
Piper was upstairs with her two boys. She was sitting on the floor while Chris messed around with a stuffed animal, hitting it on the ground and smiling like an angel. Wyatt, on the other hand, wasn't getting the attention that he so wanted. His mother was too busy playing with his baby brother. He stood, orbed the animal out of his brother's grasp, and held it into his hands. Chris was on the edge of tears. Piper turned to her oldest son, "Wyatt. What have we talked about? Give Chris back Mickey."
Wyatt pouted and orbed the mouse back to Chris, who suddenly brighten up at once. "That's a good boy," Piper said, pulling Wyatt towards her, giving him a kiss on his cheek. "Now play nicely while Mommy goes to check on Aunt Phoebe." With that, Piper stood up and headed down the steps into the living room. She smiled when she noticed her younger sister typing in front of the laptop, wearing her glasses.
Just then, Paige orbed into the Manor, standing in the same room as her half-sisters. Piper took her eyes off of Phoebe and turned to her youngest sister. Phoebe turned her attention on Paige, still typing away. As Piper studied the girl's facial expressions, she saw the guilt and shock on her pale face. The oldest took a deep breath, eyeing Paige, "What did you do?"
She scrounged up her face and shrugged, "Well..."
"Go on," Phoebe stopped typing and urged her on.
"Um, well, you see..." She glanced at her sisters then continued, "I kind of opened up a locket that had a guy inside of it?"
The more experienced witches' faces changed so suddenly with the story that had been told once before by their eldest sister. Paige winced in guilt, knowing she had done something wrong, and hated the look on her sisters' faces since it made her feel so bad. She didn't like disappointing them.
So many different emotions ran inside of Piper's mind. She was angry, annoyed, but also afraid of what this meant. Even though Matthew Tate, who she assumed was the man in the locket, faced them in their first few months of magic, he wouldn't be any easier to recapture him into the locket.
Phoebe's voice interrupted her thoughts. "Did you orb in front of him?" Phoebe asked, shakily. He would've already guessed that Paige was a Warren, but Phoebe was afraid that if she used her powers, he would be much more determined.
Paige's face went whiter, if that was even possible. She, then, looked at her sisters suspiciously, "Do you know who the Locket Man is?"
Piper nodded, "Yes. We went up against him once before."
The story with Barbus came into her mind as she winced again. "Well, if I'd known that before, I would have more careful about opening lockets."
"It's in the Book," Phoebe retorted, looking unsatisfied with Paige's response.
"Yeah, and now he'll be after us again. He knows you're a Warren," Piper pointed out.
Once again, Paige looked confused.
Piper took a deep breath, "Melinda Warren trapped him into the locket for eternity, right before she was burned at the stake. He had been using her for her powers, and then sold Melinda out to the Council of Salem. Only a descendant of hers can unlock it."
"Oh..."
"On the bright side, there is a spell to send him back into the locket. Do you still have the locket?" Phoebe jumped in, trying to lighten the mood.
Paige nodded and held the necklace out to her sisters.
Phoebe reached out to hold it. As her fingers touched gold, she was erupted with a vision.
Outside of time,
Outside of gain,
Know only sorrow,
Know only pain.
A man's laughter filled the background. As the locket started to suck him into itself, he put up a shield, deflecting the curse.
When Phoebe came around, her sisters were extremely close to her. Piper was holding her up, worriedly. "What did you see?" she asked.
"The spell...it didn't work," Phoebe gasped, moving away from her sisters.
Paige looked down, feeling upset at herself for opening the locket, and freeing the man.
Piper took a deep breath. She was about to say something, when she heard two cries coming from upstairs. She ran up to steps, two at a time, and found the boys alone, but together. Wyatt looked as if he were protecting his little brother. Immediately, she pulled her boys close, hugging them until they finally calmed down. "It's ok, kids. Mommy's right here."
Lifting Chris into her arms and taking Wyatt's hand, she took them down the stairs and into the living room.
"Are they ok?" Paige asked, going over to her nephew, and picking Wyatt up.
"They're fine," Piper replied, kissing Chris' forehead.
Phoebe stopped pacing and turned to her sisters, "We have to summon her...again."
Paige looked from sister to sister, "Her? Her, who?"
Simultaneously, the Halliwell girls replied, "Melinda Warren."
The shinny metal begged her to open it, and she couldn't resist. Her fingers touched the openings, and her hands spread apart the sides of the locket, opening it.
