Unknown Innocent

Alright, folks, here it is. I've jumped on the bandwagon, so to speak, and written a story. Please bear with me, since it is my first one. And if you have any tips to make it better, please let me know. Anyways, I hope you enjoy, and please be honest.


The girl ran through the alley, stopping suddenly and crying out as the alley ended in a brick wall. "What am I gonna do now?" she thinks to herself. Suddenly, she heard an evil laughter behind her. Remembering why she was running, she turned around to face the thing that was chasing her.
"What are you?" she demanded.
"As if you don't know." the thing cackled. Suddenly, a ball of light shot out of its hands. The girl dove to the left, barely getting out of the way of the beams that left burn marks all over the brick wall behind her. She cried out in pain from the broken glass she had landed on, causing the creature to scream out in laughter.
"Why are you doing this to me?" she asked.
"Because it's what I do... I kill witches." the creature said slowly advancing on her. Behind the creature, the girl saw blue and white lights appearing, then forming a human being.
"Help me, Please!" she screamed.
"There's no one here to help you" the creature cackled. "You're going to die all alone."
"Not if I can help it" said the person behind the creature. The creature sniffed the air before turning around. "Another witch, but not a normal witch...a Charmed One!" he hissed before disappearing from the spot.
"Damnit, I was looking forward to an easy vanquish, too." the person said before turning to the terrified girl.
"Wha-what was that thing?" the girl asked. "Who are you? Are you an angel?"
"That was a demon, and I'm definitely no angel. My name's Paige-Paige Matthews. What is your name, honey?" she asked, helping the girl to her feet.
"My name is" the girl started and then suddenly stopped, looking at Paige with fear in her eyes.
"What is it? Another demon?" Paige asked, looking around quickly.
"No, it's just...I don't remember who I am?" The girl said before bursting into tears.

"It's okay," said Paige, trying to console the crying girl."We''ll figure it out."
"How!?" screamed the girl."I don't remember anything before running down this alley from that thing!"
"I know, I know." said Paige calmly. "I promise you, I'll help you, but we really should go, before the demon comes back. He might bring friends. Plus, we need to take care of your cuts."
"You mean, there's more of them?" the girl asked, suddenly afraid again. "But, where will we go? I don't know where home is."
"I know a place that's safe." Paige said. "You'll need to take my hand."
The girl stood there, reluctant. Finally she asked, "How do I know you're safe?"
Paige tried to come up with something to alieve the girl's fears. "Do you feel safe with me?"
The girl hesitated, thinking, before saying, "Yes, I do. You did just save my life."
Paige held out her hand, smiling. "This will feel strange. Just remember not to let go of my hand."
"Okay." said the girl, placing her hand in Paige's. "I'm ready."
"Alright, here goes." said Paige before orbing them both out.

Meanwhile in the underworld...
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN, SHE GOT AWAY?!" the demon bellowed at his minion. Other demons scattered at the sound of his fury.
"I, well, I..." the minion stuttered, knowing he was moments away from death.
"Well, spit it out! Or do I have to summon her?" the demon snapped.
"NO, my lord! Please?! I was trying to kill the witch, when another witch appeared. It was a Charmed One." he said.
"A Charmed One? Just one? And you didn't think to kill her instead?!" the demon shouted.
"My lord, forgive me. I panicked." the minion said shamedly.
"You panicked? Very well." the demon said before signalling to another minion, who shimmered from the room.
The minion rose thinking he was safe when suddenly, "You summoned me, my lord?" said a sultry voice from the doorway of the cavern.
"Yes, Breckla, I have a gift for you." the demon said, pointing at the minion standing before him.
"Nooo!" the minion screamed as Breckla approached him, raising her arms to embrace him. She convulsed with pleasure as his memories and life force left him and entered her. When she stepped away from him, he exploded and disappeared.
"Was there a Charmed One?" the demon commanded.
"Yes," stated Breckla. "And I thank you for the gift, my lord."
"Very well, you may return to your chambers." said the demon. Breckla bowed, before walking from the cavern.
The demon arose from his seat and looked around the room, finally summoning another minion forward. "Find her, and do not fail me."
The minion bowed and shimmered out.

Love it, Jenna! Absolutely love it! Would *never* believe that it's your first fic! I love you starting it off with an innocent who (hopefully) isn't a relative or someone that the Charmed Ones can use (like all of Kern's so-called innocents), but truly simply someone who needs the Charmed Ones' help.

I adore your demon because he's truly evil and not dumb (hate dumb demons although I adore dumb minions!) and especially adore Brekka!

Thanks so much, Esmerelda and charmed gurl. I'm so glad you're enjoying it so far. I was pretty happy with the beginning, but not sure on how I ended it. But, hopefully you continue to enjoy it. On to the next part...

Piper was at the sink washing dishes, when she heard the sounds of orbs behind her. "Paige, did you remember to get some more thyme? I think we used the rest of it in that last vanquishing potion." she stopped as she noticed the sounds of heave breathing. Turning around, she saw Paige with a girl in her late teens/early twenties, who looked about to be sick.
"That was...interesting." the girl stated, bending over to catch her breath. She winced in pain as she placed her hands on her knees.
"Paige, why didn't you heal her?" Piper demanded, seeing the cuts in the girls hands and arms.
"Calm down, I was getting there. We just needed to get somewhere safe, before...never mind." Paige stopped, noticing the look on Piper's face.
"What do you mean? Before what?" Piper sighed.
"No, don't worry about it. I can deal with this one on my own." Paige said, while healing the girl's arms. "Is that better?" she asked.
"Yeah, thanks!" the girl said, listening to the girls talk back and forth.
"Don't worry about it, huh? That's what I do." Piper said. "And as far as you dealing with it on your own, I don't know. It seems like whenever one of us thinks that, someone ends up in trouble or worse...dead."
"Well, how about this," Paige started. "We"ll check the book for the demon, and if it's not a Power of Three vanquish, you go back to what you're doing and I can deal with it, okay?"
"Wait, Power of Three?" the girl asked, looking excited.
"What, do you remember something?" asked Paige.
"What do you mean, does she remember something?" Piper asked.
Paige shushed her and continued, not noticing the look of annoyance on Piper's face. "Is something coming back?"
"I don't know. It's there, but I can't...It's...I don't remember." The girl said, her face falling.
"It's okay." Paige said, comforting the girl. "We'll figure it out. I promised I would help you and I will. It might just take some time." She turned to Piper and said, "She doesn't remember anything."
"About the attack?" Piper asked.
"No, I mean anything. She says she doesn't remember anything before she was running down the alley away from the demon." Paige stated.
"Oh, my God, you poor thing." Piper said walking over to the girl with tears in her eyes. "Let's check the book, Paige, and vanquish this demon, so we can both help this girl."
"Okay, Book of Shadows!" Paige said, holding out her arms as the Book of Shadows orbed into them.
"That's personal gain." the girl said suddenly.
Piper and Paige, surprised, both turned to look at her.

This is your FIRST fan fic! Wow! I can't believe it! You have me hooked. I love your writing style! And starting out with an innocent reminds me of the early episodes of Charmed!

Your characterizations of the demons are fantastic. *Thumbs up*

I loved Piper's line about whenever one of them tries to solve a demonic problem by themselves it turns out worse-- SO true!

I really am wondering what is going on with the inncoent. I want to know MORE about her.

Breckla is making for an intriguing and quite evil adversary -- I love that. He's no dummy. ;D

But the character that's got my attention thus far is your innocent -- she's got my curiousity piqued.

"Did I say something wrong?" the girl asked, worried.
"No, not at all." said Piper, smiling. "But, I think it's safe to say, you're probably a witch."
"Wait, I think the demon said something about killing witches. Yeah, I asked him why he was after me, and he said "Because it's what I do... I kill witches." I didn't think anything of it at the time. I was too scared." the girl said.
"Hmm, doesn't really narrow it down." Piper stated. "Do you remember what it looked like?"
"Ahem, I was there too." Paige said, grinning.
"Okay, Paige," Piper asked "What did he look like?"
"Um, I didn't get a close enough look." Paige said sheepishly. "He left right after I got there."
"Okay, so why did you even...you know what...never mind." Piper said, rolling her eyes at Paige. She turned to the girl, setting the Book of Shadows in front of her. "Why don't you flip through here, and see if you can find the demon. Paige and I are going into the other room to talk a minute. If you need anything, just yell, okay?" She turned to Paige and motioned her into the other room.
Entering the dining room, Paige turned to Piper, "Exactly why did we just leave that poor girl alone in the kitchen with the Book of Shadows? Especially when we could have found him faster with her description."
Piper looked at her youngest sister. "Don't be mad, but I wanted to make sure she actually is good."
"What do you mean? You don't believe her?" Paige asked, starting to get angry.
"You never know, Paige, demons will try anything to get to us. Even send a so-called amnesiac to distract us." Piper said.
"That's true, but..." Paige started, when suddenly they heard a crash from the kitchen. "What was that?" Paige asked rushing to the kitchen, Piper right behind her.
Running into the kitchen, they see the girl lying on the floor, a demon identical to the one from earlier standing near her.
"Chair!" yells Paige, orbing it into the demon, sending him to the floor.
As she and Piper turn to check on the girl, the demon stands up and shoots an energy ball at them.
"NO!" screams the girl as she raises her hands, sending a gust of wind at the demon, knocking him off his feet and into the wall. The demon started getting to his feet, but Piper jumped up and waved her hands, causing the demon to scream out in pain, before exploding before their eyes. Paige looked at Piper.
"What?" Piper asked. "I tried to freeze him. But, at least now you got a good look at him, Paige." She smirked.
"Haha, very funny." Paige retorted with a smile on her face.
Suddenly a whimpering sound came floor the floor. Paige bent down to the girl. "What's wrong? Are you hurt?" she asked.
The girl looked up at her, tears running down her face, "No, I'm not hurt."
"Then what's wrong?" Paige asked her.
"What's wrong with me?" the girl asked. "You saw what I did. Does that mean I'm a...a demon, too?"
"No, it doesn't, sweetie." Piper said, helping the girl to her feet.
"But. I'm not human, am I?" the girl asked.
"Yes, you are human, you just have special gifts." Paige told her. "They're not wrong or evil as long as you don't use them to hurt other people."
"But that..." the girl started, but Paige interrupted her "Was not human or good. So what you did was completely okay." The girl looked at her unsure.
"Speaking of the demon, did you happen to find him in the Book of Shadows?" Piper asked, leading her back to the table.
"Yeah, I did." she said, sitting down and opening the book.
"See, I told you." Paige whispered to Piper, sticking her tongue out at her, as the girl touched the Book of Shadows.
"Shush!" said Piper. "Go on, what does it say?"
"Well," the girl started, "It says he is...was a Klornak demon. But, according to the pictures, he was only a minion, whatever that is."
"Basically it means, he has a boss, who probably isn't too happy that we keep stopping them from getting you." Piper told her. "Does the book say how to vanquish the boss?"
"Well, there's a list of ingredients here. What does that mean?" the girl asked.
"Looks like a simple vanquishing potion to me, and there's a summoning spell here." said Piper.
"Good, we won't have to bother Phoebe with this one. I think I'm starting to feel the effects of inter-continental orbing." stated Paige.
"There's only one thing," Piper said smiling at Paige. "We need more thyme."

Underworld...
Breckla entered her master's cavern, ignoring all but him. "My lord, they have vanquished your minion."
"I know, I felt it." He snarled. "Apparently, if you want something done right, you must do it yourself."
"But, my lord," Breckla asked, "Why do we go after this one measly witch, especially if she is protected by the Charmed ones?"
"Because she is no witch...she is a being of immense importance to the side of good. If we destroy her, chaos will reign on the surface, and demons will be able to roam freely." the Klornak demon declared. "Now, you are dismissed. I must make myself ready to face the Charmed Ones."
"Thank you, my lord," said Breckla. She bowed and turned to leave. Speaking to herself, "And then, I shall be free." Smiling, she walked out of the cavern.

Meanwhile, back at the manor,
Piper was working on the potion, when Paige orbed back, container of thyme in hand. Looking around the kitchen, she noticed the girl was gone. "Where did she go?" she asked.
"She's upstairs, trying to rest." Piper explained, as she added the last ingredients to the potion. "She's had a pretty busy day. Plus, I think she just wanted some time to think."
"I don't blame her." Paige said. "It must be really confusing not knowing who you are, and then finding out you're a witch."
"Okay, the potion's ready." Piper said. "Should we go to the attic and summon this guy before another one of his minion's decides to show up?"
"Yeah, let's get this over with, so we can help her figure out who she is." Paige stated, grabbing the book and heading out the door.
As they headed to the attic, the girl stepped out of Phoebe's old bedroom. "Where are you guys going?" she asked.
"We're going to the attic to summon the leader of the Klornak demons and vanquish him." Paige told her.
"Won't he attack?" the girl asked.
"Well we're going to put him in a crystal cage when he gets here, and he won't be able to attack." Piper said, as they arrived in the attic.
Paige walked over to the podium, placing the Book of Shadows on it, and opened it to the Klornak demon page, as Piper got the crystals out of the trunk they were kept in. "You should probably sit down over there." she told the girl, pointing to the old sofa in the corner. The girl went over and sat down, as Piper welked over to join Paige at the podium. "Ready?" she asked.
"Yep, let's do this." Paige declared.
As they finished the summoning spell, a figure started forming in the middle of the room.
"Crystals! Cage!" Paige shouted, orbing the crystals to form a circle around the demon.
"Who dares to summon me?" the demon roared.
"Uh, that would be us, dude." said Paige, as she and Piper prepared to throw the potion.
"No, wait!" the girl said, jumping up off the couch.

"What do you mean, wait?" yelled Piper, as her suspicions rose.
"I mean, I just want to know why he's after me." she said hastily, noticing the look on Piper's face. "Maybe he knows who I am."
"Even if he does know, he probably won't tell you the truth." Paige said. "Demons have a tendency of lying."
"Well it won't hurt to ask?" the girl said.
The demon started to laugh, "You mean to tell me the all powerful Charmed Ones don't know who their innocent is."
"Watch it, buddy. We're the ones with the vanquishing potions here." Piper spat.
The girl turned to the demon, "I take it you do know who I am."
"Of course I do." the demon said. "I knew the moment you arrived here, not where you belong."
"Well, tell me, who am I?" the girl demanded, starting to get angry, causing a wind to pick up in the attic.
Noticing her anger, the demon continued to toy with her emotions, "I will tell you one thing, you're not very smart, getting away from those who were trying to protect you. It only caused you problems, and now I get the satisfaction of destroying you and all you would have been able to do." At those words, a sudden burst of wind flew from the girl's hands causing the crystal cage to fall apart. The demon sprang from his cage, throwing energy balls at the same time.
"Energy ball!" Paige called out, throwing one away from the girl, as Piper blew the other one up with a flick of her wrist. With another flick of her wrist, the demon froze.
"What now?" asked Piper, looking at the broken potion vials on the floor.
"Leave it to me." Paige said with confidence. "Potion!" she cried out, throwing the potion at the demon in a swirl of orbs.
The demon unfroze and screamed in pain before he erupted in flames and vanished.
"I am so sorry." the girl said, getting up off the floor.
"What on earth was that?" Piper asked.
"I don't know." the girl claimed. "He was making me so mad, and then I guess I just reacted."
"Well, that was some reaction." Paige said, smiling.
"But, I almost got you guys killed." the girl said.
"It's a daily occurrence around here. We're used to it." Piper told her.
"And, we still didn't find out who I am." the girl said, sitting down as tears started filling her eyes.
"Maybe I can help you with that." said a kind voice fron the center of the room.

They turned to look at the figure behind them. It was an elderly lady in light brown robes with what looked like leaves in her hair. "Who are you?" Piper demanded, raising her hands instinctively.
The lady smiled at them, "I'm not here to hurt you."
"Said the spider to the fly." Piper remarked, still not lowering her hands.
"If I wanted to hurt you, I could have tried when you had your backs to me." the lady stated.
Paige leaned over and whispered to Piper, "She's got you there."
"Shush!" Piper hissed, lowering her hands. "Alright, who are you? What do you know?"
"Well, I do know that I have been looking for you all day. "she said to the girl. "Would you mind if I sat down?" she asked. "This old body's not doing too well right now."
"No, please, sit down." Paige told her. "Now what were you saying?"
"First off, thank you for finding Aurora and taking care of her." she said motioning to the girl sitting next to her. At the confused looks on everyone's faces, she continued. "Aurora has been being trained for the past few years to take over for me when my time ends."
"Wait a minute, trained for what exactly?" asked Piper suspiciously. "And you still haven't told us who you are."
The lady chuckled, "You're right, I haven't, have I? Please, forgive me, sometimes this old memory isn't quite what it used to be. I am..."
"Mother Nature" Aurora said, suddenly remembering who she was.
"Wait, Mother Nature?" Piper asked, unsure whether to believe it.
"You're questioning it, after everything we've seen?" Paige said, laughing.
"Okay, so you're real, and you're training Aurora to take over for you?" Piper said.
"That's correct." Mother Nature said. "My time on earth is almost at an end, but it's coming a little sooner than we had anticipated."
"Why is that?" Paige asked, curiously.
"When the Titans were released, they caused a bit of havoc on the weather. I had some difficulty trying to keep the weather fron getting too out of control and putting things right after they were destroyed." Mother Nature stated.
"So, if she is the next Mother Nature, why did the demons say she was a witch, and how did she know about personal gain?" Paige asked.
"I can answer that one." Aurora spoke up. Piper and Paige turned to look at her. "I am a witch, or I was. I have the ability to control the elements."
"Which made her a perfect candidate to take over for me." Mother Nature stated. "It's not very often a witch with this ability is born. The last one turned evil a very long time ago. I'm pretty sure you know about her." she finished, looking at Paige.
"The Evil Enchantress." Paige said.
"That's correct. " Mother Nature said.
"Okay, but why would a demon be after her?" Paige asked.
"Think about what would happen if there was no Mother Nature to take care of everything. The weather alone would be out of control. It would be the perfect demon playground." Mother Nature said, as she stood up. "Now, we really must be going. Aurora has some training to finish up. And I must rest. Looking for someone all day is pretty tiring work."
Aurora stood turning to the sisters, "Thank you so much for helping me today." she said, hugging each of the girls in turn.
"It was definitely not a problem. It's what we do...protect the innocent." Piper told her.
"Hey," Paige said grinning, "Just no major earthquakes or tidal waves or anything like that for oh, about 70 or 80 years, please."
Laughing, Aurora said, "I'll see what I can do." before turning to Mother Nature. They turned to Piper and Paige, and waving, disappeared in a whirl of wind and rain.
"That was definitely an interesting day." Piper stated, staring at the spot the two women had just occupied.
"Yeah," started Paige, "I'm just wondering about something."
"What's that?" Piper asked, bending to clean up the broken potion vials.
"If Aurora has been in training for the past few years, how did she get in that alley, with no memory?" Paige asked, with a worried look on her face.

Underworld...
Breckla stared into a basin of clear liquid, watching the scene unfold before her eyes. "My plan worked." she whispered to herself. Turning to the empty cavern, previously the home of the Klornak demons, she spoke again. "And now, I am finally free." The demoness laughed before shimmering away.
