"A Mistake In Time"
(This takes place during "A Witch In Time" and is a rewrite of the episode.)
Chapter One
Phoebe and Miles, her date, were on the front porch. “We’re here,” Phoebe said. “Yep,” said Miles. “So did you have fun?” Miles asked. “I’ll tell you in a minute.” Phoebe leaned up and kissed him. Suddenly, she heard Piper’s voice. “Coming through here, people,” Piper said, bags in her arms. She pushed through Phoebe and Miles and into the manor. Leo followed behind. “Piper, what’s wrong?” Leo asked. “Nothing. Nothing,” said Piper. She stalked towards the kitchen. “Piper, something’s bothering you,” Leo said. Piper set the bags down and turned around. “Look, it’s just that Phoebe and Miles aren’t a good match. They have nothing in common! She’s gonna get heartbroken,” Piper said. “Yeah. We should just kill him,” Leo said sarcastically. Piper glared at him.
Paige leaned up from the couch where she was making out with a guy. “Hey Piper do you mind?” Paige asked. “Aw Paige!” Piper said, covering her eyes. Paige leaned back down. The door to the manor opened, and Phoebe and Miles ran up the stairs. “I gotta stop them!” Piper said. She headed for the stairs. “Piper, no!” Leo said. He grabbed her arm. “Look, Phoebe is going to kill you if you go up there. So let it go,” he said. Piper sighed, grabbed the bags, and walked into the kitchen. Phoebe grabbed Miles, falling onto her bed. She kissed him over and over, taking off his shirt. Suddenly a premonition hit her.
A gun shot rang out in an alley way. Suddenly Miles dropped to the ground, dead. Blood was dripping out of his mouth.
Phoebe stopped kissing. Miles leaned up. “Are you ok?” he asked. Phoebe didn’t answer. Miles was going
to die.
Piper, Leo, and Paige sat at the table in the conservatory. “So how come we’ve never met your friend?” Piper asked wryly. Paige smirked at Piper. “He’s more than that. He’s a great guy and might have some potential,” Paige said happily. Leo raised his eyebrows and sipped his coffee. As Piper flipped through the paper, Phoebe pulled Miles into the room. “Good morning,” her voice rang out. “Oh, here, take something with you,” she said, handing him a bagel. “Ok, so we’re meeting at my work?” he asked. “Yes, definitely,” Phoebe said. She gave Miles a long kiss. Then he walked out of the manor. Phoebe pulled up a chair and sat across from Piper. “Ok something really freaky happened last night,” Phoebe said. “You guys are already getting freaky?” Piper said, still flipping through the paper. Phoebe nudged Piper. “No! I had a premonition. Miles is gonna get shot and die,” she said. “Shot? Don’t you usually get premonitions about demons?” Paige asked, curious. “Well yeah but not all the time,” Phoebe said with a shrug. “Yeah but Phoebe, he’s an innocent. You can’t fall in love with him. You’re moving too fast,” Piper said. “That’s a little harsh,” said Phoebe, her face falling. “Ok, but then there’s this: a rebound romance burns fast and hot like a shooting star and leaves the rebounded blind to the flame out ahead,” Piper said, reading a line from the paper. “Who wrote that?” Phoebe mumbled. “You, actually,” Paige said, looking over Piper’s shoulder. “Ok look, you guys, I like Miles. I really, really like him. I want you to be happy for me,” Phoebe said. Paige tilted her head. “Phoebe I’m happy for you. I can come with you and help out,” she said. Leo raised his head. “Actually, Piper could help more with her freezing power,” he said. Piper looked at him.
Piper honked her horn twice and sped to the front of Miles’s office. Phoebe jumped out. “Try his cellphone, I’ll go inside,” she said, running in. Piper dialed Mile’s cellphone and got a recording. She hung up and threw her cellphone into her purse. She sighed, then looked over. A truck pulled in beside Piper. “Hey! You’re blocking me!” she said, irritated. The guy stepped out. “Sorry, you parked here.” “I’m not parked! Look you need to move. Now!” Piper yelled at him. “Sorry. Can’t,” he said. He walked off carrying some boxes. Piper groaned. Phoebe came running up to the car. “He’s not here. We have to find him,” she said, worried. Suddenly, sirens rang out in the distance. Piper and Phoebe exchanged worried glances. Piper turned around and looked at the truck. “This asshole is blocking me,” Piper said, pointing at the truck. “Let’s run. We can make it,” Phoebe said. Piper got out and grabbed Phoebe’s hand. They ran down the sidewalk. They came to an intersection. Phoebe stopped. “Oh no. Which way now?” Phoebe said. “I don’t know!” Piper cried. “Piper,” Phoebe said desperately. “Left! Let’s go!” Piper said, yanking Phoebe away. They got to the alley to see two police cars already there. A man with a gun stood in front of Miles. Suddenly, he fired. Piper threw up her hands as Phoebe cried out. The bullets stopped right in front of Miles. Phoebe ran over and knocked them down. Then she got the gun and threw it on the ground. “Ok, unfreeze it,” Phoebe said to Piper. “How are going to-” Piper started. Phoebe waved her hands. “I’ll figure it out. Go!’ Phoebe said. Piper sighed and waved her hands. Phoebe jumped onto Miles and knocked him over. The shooter threw up his hands in surrender. As he was getting arrested, Phoebe got up and helped Miles. “You saved my life!” he exclaimed. “Oh it’s not that big a deal,” Phoebe said modestly. “It was my life!” he said. Phoebe looked up at him. “You saved my life!” he said again. “I, uh, I think we established that,” she said giggling. “Did I say thank you?” he asked. “No. But it’s ok. What do you say to a romantic dinner tonight?” she asked. “Sounds good to me,” he said. He leaned down and kissed her. Suddenly Phoebe gasped. She had a premonition.
Miles sat at the manor’s dining room table. Phoebe was carrying dessert. Suddenly an athame flew into Miles’s chest. He fell down, dead.
Phoebe opened her eyes slowly. “You ok?” he asked her. “No, not really,” she said, looking around. He put an arm around her. “Come on, let’s go get some coffee,” he said. They walked away. As they walked away, a man dressed in a leather jacket and black pants and a shirt walked out of the alley’s brick wall. He smiled and waved his hand, saying “Concealeous.” One of the shrubs along the wall moved in front of the spot where he had come through. Then he blinked out.
