I have no idea where to put this - it involves all the sisters... pretty equally.
This is set halfway through season 5, and it isn't finished yet, so I'll update it as I write more, but with school starting, I don't know how much I'll get done in a week.
Plot outline: A demon wants to become the head of the Underworld, to do this he wants power - like all demons do - but he doesn't want to kill the Charmed Ones, not yet anyway, he wants to try and get every future generation of Halliwell witches' powers. But the sisters have no idea what's going on...
Paige Matthews let out a scream of panic as the doors of the manor’s solarium flew open. She dropped the bagel she had been eating and jumped to her feet.
“Behind you!” A voice boomed, making her turn instantly. Not fast enough. The demon’s fist connected with her jaw and knocked her to the floor.
Paige’s sisters, Piper and Phoebe came rushing in from the kitchen, Piper’s hands shot up as she attempted to freeze the demon. He froze for a split second and broke out of it; he ran back to Paige and grabbed her arm, pulling her up. She struggled to free herself but the more she tried the tighter the demon gripped her. Phoebe ran up to the demon and kicked him in the shins.
“Why isn’t he flinching!?” Phoebe panicked, kicking frantically, “Piper blow him up!”
Piper lifted her hands once again and flicked her wrists, a small explosion hit the demon, and once again, he didn’t flinch.
“Don’t attempt that again or I’ll kill your sister.” The demon snapped. He held out an arm whilst the other one was tightly wrapped around Paige. In his hand appeared a steel athame, he held it close to Paige who had now stopped struggling and had her eyes on the athame which was inches away from her neck.
“What do you want from us?” Piper questioned, watching Paige helplessly.
“This.” The demon said. He took the athame and slid it across Paige’s snow white skin. She let out a piercing cry as it dug deep into her skin.
Piper and Phoebe reacted instantly, making a grab for the demon. He shimmered out before they had a chance to catch him.
Paige fell to the floor, her hand held over the big open wound on her neck.
“Leo!” Piper screamed, she ran to Paige and pulled her up.
Leo appeared in a swirl of blue and white orbs as soon as Piper called his name.
“What happened here?” He asked as he approached Paige who looked dazed.
“Demon. We’ll look in the Book of Shadows when Paige is healed,” Phoebe told Leo as he put his hands over Paige’s wound. His hands glowed and Paige’s cut healed quickly.
“Thanks Leo,” Paige smiled appreciatively, she turned to her sisters, “Shall we check the Book then?”
“Of course we should, he could have killed you. I don’t understand what he was doing.” Piper mentioned and Phoebe nodded.
“Book of Shadows!” Paige called. She held out her hands and suddenly the Book of Shadows appeared in her hands, “I love being half Whitelighter.”
“Personal gain...” Piper mumbled, glancing across at Phoebe.
Paige stuck her tongue out at them both and opened the Book to the first page.
Meanwhile down in the Underworld the demon that had attacked Paige moments before had shimmered in front of a crowd of demons, they looked at him anxiously. He held out his hands to reveal a chunk of flesh, the crowd let out a roar of cheers.
“Flesh from the Charmed Ones. The foolish unprepared one.”
“That would be Paige Matthews.” A voice said from the back of the crowd. A demon wearing ragged clothing stepped forward.
“Fool. I know that already. I know a lot more than any of you do when it comes to the Charmed Ones.”
“When are you going to get the other two?” Somebody asked.
“I am disguising myself as Phoebe’s date tonight. When I get her they’ll be on the lookout for me, so I’m going to have to shape shift into their Whitelighter to catch Piper unaware.”
“Excellent plan... but you could have killed one of them right there and then, why didn’t you?”
“Stop asking these questions!” The demon raised his voice, “I don’t want to kill them. I want their powers, and to get every future Halliwell’s power. I will become invincible... the next Source.”
Murmurs erupted from the crowd of demons inside the cave; another demon cautiously stepped forward and bowed his head.
“Sir... I don’t mean to ask questions... but how will you achieve this?”
The demon spun around to face the low-level, “Several of the strongest potions from the Grimoire and a few of my own ingredients,” he avoided mentioning the ingredients and potions – after all, he didn’t want someone to do it before he had the chance to.
The Grimoire was like a demon’s version of the Book of Shadows. It held valuable information on how to destroy good beings, and quite a few of the spells that the Charmed Ones’ Book had. Unlike the Charmed Ones, evil could use a spell without having to worry about the personal gain rule. It kept the balance of good and evil equal.
The Demon walked towards a big cauldron in the middle of the cave, there was an altar at the side of it. He placed the flesh on the altar and gave a warning glance to everyone; they got the message that if they touched it they would die.
The sisters had searched through the Book at least three times. They had found nothing on the demon that had attacked them that morning. They were all beginning to become frustrated.
“Maybe we should just give up searching. There’s nothing here on him,” Paige muttered, glancing down at the crinkled pages of the spell book.
“Paige... that guy could have killed you, what if he comes back and we’re not ready?” Phoebe said, glaring at her little sister. But as she did so, her mobile phone began to vibrate in her jeans pocket. She took it out and looked at the screen.
“Work,” she grumbled, “Maybe you’re right. We can continue the search when I get back from work. I have deadlines to meet.” She sighed and cancelled the call, then walked over to her bag on the kitchen counter, “Be back later, and don’t do anything stupid whilst I’m out, okay?”
“I don’t know how you can all stay calm when things like this happen to us. There’s a demon after us who almost killed you, Paige. I’m not going to work today. I think its best not to separate.”
Paige sighed and closed the Book of Shadows; she traced the lines of the triquetra, deep in thought. “Maybe he was just a low level demon who was trying to gain power by attacking me,” she suggested, “I don’t think we should worry.”
“Paige...” Piper started, she looked at her little sister, seeing her like she was made her think of Prue, how she thought she could handle everything... but then she went and got herself killed, but Piper always blamed herself, despite the fact that it had been two years since the Source’s messenger, Shax burst into the house and killed her. She’d tried everything to rewind time but nothing could fix it. Piper didn’t want to lose yet another sister.
“What?” She asked, sighing loudly, “Piper, just leave it... I’m serious.”
“Yeah and I’m serious too. You never ignore a demon, why the sudden change?”
“I have a lunch date, and a migraine, I just can’t be doing with all this right now. I think I’ll be safe, I’m just an orb away... just call my name.” Paige averted her gaze from the Book of Shadows and stared at the immaculately clean floor of the solarium, “I’m gonna go get ready.” She didn’t look at Piper as she left the attic, her mind seemed to be elsewhere lately.
Phoebe rushed into the busy office of San Francisco’s most popular newspaper, The Bay Mirror; straight away people began shoving pieces of paper in her face.
“Guys!” Phoebe shouted, “I’ve already had a hectic morning, can’t you just give me a break?” She tucked a strand of dark brown hair behind her ear and watched as the crowd around her began to slowly disperse back to their desks.
She walked over to the coffee machine where Dustin stood, pouring himself a cup. Dustin was Phoebe’s date at P3 that evening, Phoebe rarely dated anyone from work but she couldn’t resist when Dustin asked her. She felt there was something special about him.
“Hey,” Dustin said, studying her, “You look great today, want a cup of coffee?” He said, offering her his cup.
“Thanks... that’s very kind of you,” Phoebe said, taking his cup of steaming hot coffee, “I could do with a little caffeine, I couldn’t really sleep last night and this morning has been... interesting, to say the least. Very tiring. You know.”
“I hope you won’t be too tired tonight, are we still on for our date? Seven o’clock at your sister’s club?” He smiled at her, looking into her big, brown eyes.
“Of course,” she replied, taking a sip of the coffee, “I wouldn’t miss it for the world. Right now though, I have to go and write up my column though... speak later, okay?”
