Aha, that means you are about to go to step 2: The setup of the software, ok.
Before you continue further you need to create a folder on your harddrive, where you want to store your downloads to.
After this has been done, you can continue with bellow.
Open Xnews.
Click on
Server and then
NewIn the field that come up, enter the adress of the newsserver that your ISP provided you with, when you got your internet.
Click
OKNow enter the name you want to call the server (like the name of your internet provider) and click
OK.
In the folder named
Servers, there is a sub folder named
Custom, here you enter the name and mail adress you want to be visable in the newsgroups, when you post messages there, but DON'T use your real name and mail adress, choose an alias and fake mail adress, if you don't you might risk getting tons of spam in your mail box.
Now click on the folder named
BasicThis is the vital one, this is the place where you enter all the needed info to access your ISP's news server.
Here you have to enter all the info that your ISP provided you with, when you got your internet connection:
Address of newsserver, servers port number, your username and your password.
Click on folder named
Identities, it will then pop you a question about if you want to change "bla bla bla", just say
Yes to that question, that will store all the info you just put in.
If your postername and faked mail adress did not turn up here, enter it here also. In
ID Token, you can enter a special combination of letters and numbers, so you can see if some one post replies to you in the newsgroups.
Now just click
Okay.
A
Confirm box now shows up, it asks you if you want to download all the groups that the newsserver is carrying, say
Yes to this.
Newsgroups will now be downloaded and stored in the software, this might take some time.
After download of the newsgroups is completed, you will see a list of all the groups that the server carries.
Go up to
Group and choose
Find and enter
alt.binaries.multimedia.charmedWhen group has been located, right click on the group and choose
SubscribeNow you can close the search box and click
AllYou have now access to
alt.binaries.multimedia.charmedNow you need to enter the place on your harddrive, where you want to download files to.
Open
Special go down to
Setup Xnews and then go to folder named
FilesHere there is a line that says
Save decoded files in directory.
Here you push the box with the dots and choose the folder you created, where your downloads should be stored to and choose
OpenThe directory's adress on your harddrive is now visable in the text field, now you choose
Okay and that was it.
You access the group just by double clicking on the groups name, it will download every subject that has been posted there and somewhere between all the subjects you can locate

Push down your "arrow up" key on your keyboard (the one under Caps Lock key) and keep pushing it down.
Scroll down to my last posting named
Charmed: The unofficial soundtrack: Bonus and mark it.
You will now notice that every track has been marked with
blue color, you can now remove your finger from the "arrow up key".
Now move your mouse to the
blue colored boxes in the bottom of the window, its the one that says
Decode (F4) when you run your mouse over it and just click on it.
A box named
Select directory for decoded files comes up, it should have chosen the directory you entered before where you want to download to, if not choose the directory manually.
Push
DecodeDownload is now in progress
This can take a long time, it depends on how fast your internet connection is, after all its over 1Gb that you have to
download
