Pittsburgh, PA.
Two city blocks east of the point park fountain stands a building many consider to be the oldest continually occupied facility in the city. It is here—in this historic structure—where our story begins on a cold, rainy, and dreary Monday morning.
Michael Weathers steps out of his car and hurries into this oldest of the Steel City buildings. As soon as he opens the door, he sees nothing but a common bar and restaurant setting. With a confused look on his face, he begins to pull a piece of paper out of his soaked jacket pocket but stops when he hears a voice coming from behind the bar.
“Are you Michael?”
Michael affirms the question with a strong and bold “Yes, I am” but still is unaware of the location of person speaking.
The voice begins to get closer and this time gives a simple instruction, “Go upstairs. Your room is the first door on the left side”
Michael quickly jogs up the one flight of steps without bothering to look behind to see the person he was speaking to down below.
Upon reaching the top, he is faced with two doors. He knows the one he wants is on the left, but he can’t resist seeing what is behind the other door. However after a few failed attempts to open it, he gives up and opens his required door.
As he opens the door, he is met with loud “Surprise!” by three of his closest acquaintances…his wife, his sister, and his brother-in-law.
