Just from the top of my head, since i have been to the dentist today: How many of you have ever had a root canal treatment ?
I discovered that i actually have had one done several years ago, that i did not even know of ;D I was at the dentist today because one of my teeth broke in half (thanks to a Mentos), normally that will hurt as hell when such a thing happens, but it did not, did not feel a thing.
Then my dentist said that she thinks that this was the one that my former dentist gave a root canal treatment, i just had huge question marks about that in my eyes. But surely as she said, that tooth had such a treatment many years ago and the tooth could be repaired without a anesthetic shot.
So just wondering, how many of you have had a root canal treatment.

I've never had it done, but I know two people who have. They both have said it HURTS really bad. Guess they did not get enough anesthetics. Obviously i have had so much given back then, that i did not feel a thing, since i did not even know that i had such a thing done before yesterday.

Well, my brother was not completely numb yet when it was done with him. My friend Beth, she said it didn't hurt at all when it was being done, but once the numbness went away.
She said,"It hurt as hell."

I've had it done and it was no more painful than having teeth removed. It did the wonder of good until like your tooth H, it cracked. I think it's a common ocurrence with root canals. But it does is prelong the life of a tooth that would otherwise need to be removed - lets you keep a full set of teeth for that little bit longer.

I had it done on a molar, around 2nd or 3rd grade, but the root canal was never finished - which sucked. It didn't really hurt that much during it, and at one visit, my mouth ended up tasting like a barbecue! And last year; the molar kinda got infected - the gum underneath it puffed up a bit (I almost looked like half a puffer fish, lol). I ended up getting three teeth pulled out, two because of the infection and one because it was a baby tooth. Afterward, it HURT LIKE HELL, but during it though - I had Novacaine and 'laughing gas'....my whole body felt numb. I even had to take 3 different pills, for the pain and to prevent infection, after the oral surgery.
Now; I have a small gap between my wisdom tooth and the rest of my teeth, on the right side....

I am allergic to "laughing gas". I tried getting it once about 20 years ago. After getting it i got really sick, everything just started to spin around and i got real dizzy and i ended up "head first" in a toilet bowl for nearly half an hour after getting it.
I am forced to get a local anesthetic shot if the dentist has to do some work on my teeth.
