Authors Note: Okay I really wasn't happy with my other one, so many things I feel that I did wrong, this is something that I have thought about for a while because I lost my muse for the original and finally now I feel that enough ideas are in my head to rewrite it. Some things will be different but you will just have to read. Sorry for everyone who read the first one, especially Es! But I really do think this one will be better. So without further ado this is 'In The Way Of Destiny'- The Rewrite.
Chapter One: Disaster Or Meant To Be?[/center]
Phoebe Halliwell was washing up whilst listening to some music on the 27th May, it was a Thursday and everything was normal, Coop had Faded home from work and wrapped his arms around the love of his life, Phoebe who was also the mother of his three daughters: Prudence, Patricia & Penelope Halliwell. The couple danced around the kitchen happily for all of five minutes before disaster struck, a powerful demon shimmered in and caught them by surprise. The first fire ball was sent towards Phoebe, it missed, but only because Coop had dived in front of it to save her. He was dead within ten seconds. Phoebe overwhelmed with grief forgot about the demon in front of her and went to help her husband, this was her biggest mistake and the next fireball that was thrown didn’t miss. Phoebe and Coop Halliwell were dead leaving their children behind but also doing what the demonic world had wanted for so long, breaking the power of three.
This is what the youngest daughter Penelope Halliwell didn’t know as she walked home from school, Penny had stopped off at the local shop to buy a couple of things her mother had asked her too, just the usual stuff; groceries. It had only been ten minutes after the attack when she arrived back home “Mom, Dad you in?” Her voice echoed but to her surprise there was no reply, Phoebe had told her that she was working from home that day so why wasn’t she in? Penny shrugged her coat off and held the grocery bag with arm, placing it on the hanger she proceeded to the kitchen to put the food away.
She stopped stone cold and dropped the bag, jars smashed and food poured out onto the clean tiled floor, Penny grabbed the doorframe for support her eyes were as wide as they could go, what she saw couldn’t be right, it couldn’t be. The thing was Penny didn’t remember falling asleep. Her breathing sped up and her left hand moved to her mouth as she began to take in the scene in front of her. That was it Penny couldn’t take it anymore she moved to the wall in the hallway and slipped down it so she was sitting down her knees pulled close to her chest. The uncontrollable tears came and then Penny couldn’t stop, they were dead and there was nothing she or anyone else could do about it, thoughts rushed through her mind, memories of her parents just everything coming all at once. Her mother was the strongest, bravest person Penny knew, she had seen her fight so many demons, how could this happen? Why now?
The phone began to ring but Penny didn’t hear it, or maybe she didn’t want to. She was immersed in her thoughts like a trance or something. Penny just thought that if she could sit there, close her eyes and just not think about it then maybe it would go away and everything would be back to normal when she opened her eyes again. She knew it was stupid deep down but Penny wasn’t thinking about that right now.
Ringing was getting louder and brought Penny back from her mind, slowly she stood up and picked up the phone “Hey Penny a group of us are all going out later you wanna go?” Sophie, Pennys’ best friends voice was happy as usual. Everyone else was carrying on with their lives and Penny was in her own personal hell on earth. She didn’t bother to say anything and put the phone down. It felt like her whole world had just crashed.
Meanwhile Prudence Halliwell was working as per usual, she was always working nowadays, but for some reason today Prue had picked up a copy of the bay mirror to read her mothers ‘Ask Phoebe’ article. Smiling she put it down, after all these years her mother still believed everyone could find love. Not everyone could just go and marry a cupid though Prue thought to herself. There was a reason she worked herself silly, Prue just didn’t have anything better to do. From the age of seventeen she knew that the life of a witch was not for her and didn’t really use her powers after that, dating was a big no for her at the moment. She had always had the worst luck in men, either they were jerks or freaks so Prue chose just to work.
All the thinking about Phoebe had made Prue want to call her, after she moved out of the family home Prue and Phoebe had not had a good conversation, it was a shame but they were really different personality wise. Dialing the number the Prue knew off-by-heart now she heard the dialing tone and waiting for someone to pick up, Prue expected it to be Penny seeing as she was always nearer to the phone most of the time.
Penny picked up “Hello” her solemn voice was barely audible.
“Penny, are you okay?” Prue asked wondering why her sister was so sad, it was probably nothing after all, teenagers had a thing of thinking that everything was the end of the world, hell even Prue went through that years ago, that’s how she knew.
“Prue” Penny began crying down the phone. “It’s mom and dad” She barely got out.
Prues heart stopped one of her worst fears could have been coming true. “Penny what do you mean” She asked trying to be calm but failing miserably.
“They’re dead”
