If you've read my charmed spinoff fan fic then some of this might seem familiar. I decided to take a few of the characters and make up my own world to place them in.
“Where did you come from?” I hear Prue asking Dad as he teleports in.
“Nowhere important” he answers back as the two of them enter the living room.
“Oh yeah? Why did you teleport? You never teleport unless something magical is involved.”
“Honey we’re just trying to protect you” Dad tries to quell his daughter’s curiosity but I can tell he’s never going to win this fight.
“You guys are stunting my emotional and social development.”
Health class isn’t until next year but thanks to Mom, who has a college degree in psychology, I know that to not be a very good argument. I can sympathize greatly with
Prue on this issue but at the same time her childish manner in which she goes about trying to convince Mom and Dad is annoying.
“Actually Prue, most scholars out there would probably say that we are doing a great job raising you” Mom replies to Prue’s comment. “Alyssa you don’t want to be around those big scary demons do you?”
“That sounds like a lot of fun. I just find being caught in one of those stereotypical parent vs. teenager arguments to be embarrassing.”
“So I’m an irresponsible teenager? Well at least I’m not some depressed loser who doesn’t want to do anything to fix the problems in her life” Prue rejoins the conversation.
“Just shut up! You have no idea of what it’s like to be me. When you complain Mom and Dad call it a slight annoyance but when I complain they see it as a sign that I’m not able to take care of myself” I’m quick to respond.
“So that’s what has been bothering you darling. How come you would never come talk to me about it?” Mother annoyingly asks.
“Mom would you stop it” I yell at her. “There is nothing that needs fixing,” I say as I get up off the couch and storm out of the room.
“Aw you little baby. Do you need a hug?” Prue said as she wraps her arms around me out of nowhere.
I would have found it irritating if it wasn’t for the flash of light that comes with visions. Suddenly it is way later than what I remember as I look up at the silvery moon, staring down at me. I’m standing behind a broken skid along with a pile of boxes and old junk that people have no more use for.
“Well it looks like I’m in an alleyway somewhere. I hate these stupid visions. How can I battle demons when my consciousness can leave my body wide open for an attack at any minute? Hopefully this one isn’t one of the longer ones. Now that I have a better look I think this alley leads to the boat docks.”
“Oh my god! There’s Prue” I say as I quickly duck back behind the pile of debris.
I’m assuming that the men standing all around her distracted her from my outburst because nobody bothered to look to see who just spoke. What the hell is Prue doing? She looks like she’s in trouble.
Impressive, when did Prue learn those martial arts skills? “Prue behind you” I instinctively yell. In that split second after she noticed me, she jumped higher than what normal human muscles should allow and landed behind her assailant, that was trying to get her from behind. Before the man could turn around Prue notices another one of her attackers forming a fireball in his hand but when he tosses it, Prue dodges it and the fireball connects with her former attacker instead. Wow, those are some impressive moves. I think to myself, stunned.
“Hey Alyssa” I start to hear and suddenly bright flashes are forming around me, creating a tunnel vision effect. Prue’s tryout for underworld slowly becomes a fading star as I’m sucked back into the present.
“What?” I growl. I would have asked in a nicer manner but I’m still not used to the frigid splash of returning from a vision.
“You don’t have to be so grouchy. You weren’t moving and I was concerned” she remarks. “I guess I should just leave you to your own little world and quirks from now on” she says, with a wave of her hand, as she walks off. Glancing at her walk makes me wish I had a nice but, like hers, to swing back and forth.
“Hey Alyssa, do you know where Prue is?” Mom asks me.
“Yeah she just walked off,” I tell Mom.
“Well that must have been her who just went out the door. Maybe I can catch up with her if I hurry.” Not a chance I think to myself as I look out the window behind mom and see her dashing down the street.
I wonder how far into the future that vision was. I know I’m supposed to be present when it happens but I can’t help but feel anxious about not getting there in time.
“Hey Mom, is it alright if I go for an evening run to get some practice in for track?”
“Sure honey, just be sure to be back by nine”
“Thanks mom, I really appreciate it,” I say with a kiss on the cheek before I race out the door.
The alley, that Prue was in during my vision, looked like it was in the industrial sector. If I cut through the park I can get there faster.
Luckily I’ve just reached it. There are the industrial buildings and warehouses, behind the park. They look like a castle with a forest leading up to them. “What the? There’s Prue. I figured she’d be way ahead of me by now.”
“Hey Alyssa. Are you out getting in shape for track?” That sounds like Ryan but I don’t have time to chat with him. I have to keep up with Prue. Not that I’m having any trouble though. I’m used to running from track.
The dull green scenery sure made the half-hour run through the park seem like it only took a couple of minutes. I’m a little disappointed. I always enjoy a good run. Well at least I don’t have to worry too much about losing track of Prue. The alleyway is visible as soon as you exit the park.
“Hurry up with those crates and be careful. We’re behind as it is and can’t afford anymore set backs” I here one of the demons from my vision say after taking my seat behind the debris. Though now that I’ve got a better view of the event I get the feeling that Prue has a date with a bunch of mortals who’ve decided to use their powers for selfish reasons. Demons don’t imitate mundane criminals unless ordered to by a contractor.
“You guys don’t know when to call it quits do you?” Prue immaturely gives away the element of surprise.
“What’s a beautiful woman like you doing fighting against us? Every little girl dreams, to one day marry a drug dealer.” He’s definitely not a demon. Judging by how Prue responded with a telekinetic shove I’d say he’s made the same impression on her that he has on me.
“You little tramp. I seriously doubt you have any idea who you just did that too” Considering how he just received a free flight via Prue I doubt he’s anyone dangerous.
“Whatever, you’re even weaker than my stepsister” I hear Prue respond and it’s very tempting to blow my cover before my rehearsed moment.
“Go ahead let it out. Your cover has already been blown” a voice from behind me causes me to shriek. The fact that he has me pinned against the pile of debris makes it easier for him to grab a hold of me.
“Prue if you value your cousin’s life you’ll obey my contractor,” my mysterious captor says after getting a hold of me and bringing me into plain sight for every one to see.
“Alyssa, what are you doing here? This is exactly why Mom and Dad don’t want us battling demons” Prue responded to my plight.
“She is here thanks to my precognitive abilities. You may not have heard of my contractor but perhaps you’ve heard of me. My name is Amon”
“And perhaps you heard of me. I’m Marissa Moorey” Mom unexpectedly gets Amon from behind.
“Mom what are you doing here?” I’m seriously busted enough for lying to her. Let alone being in danger right now. “I’m going to get a huge I told you so when this over.”
“What makes you think you know the ending? I know your family. Your family’s powers are based on extrasensory perception not physical combat enhancement”
Amon lets us know that he’s done his homework.
“Because she isn’t alone” Dad answers. “Now let my daughters go, Amon.”
“I’ve heard rumors that a dog of the Guardians married a family of mortals in this area. You must be Jason” Amon said as he dodged my Uncle’s energy ball. “Don’t bother trying to catch me off guard. Even if you could get a moment I can see into the future just like your wife and stepdaughter here.”
“Oh really” Prue says right before she connects with a whirling kick to Amon’s head, sending him flying and causing him to toss me.
“What happened to my contractor and men? Why didn’t I foresee this?”
“Did you forget? I also possess extrasensory perception” Mom responded to his question as Prue helped me over to her and Jason.
“You’ve tricked me. You implanted false visions” Amon replied.
“Yeah well how do you think my daughter feels about you tricking her like that? “Let’s see how well you fare against Jason without the use of your powers.”
“You obviously don’t have much experience with demons or you would know that demons aren’t divided between those with sensory powers and those with physical might powers, like mortals, without stolen powers, are.” Lucky demons, I wish I could use some of those skills I’ve seen Prue using.
“Leave them be” the guy Prue sent flying said after getting up a second time. My clients wanted those drugs a few minutes ago. There’s no monetary gain for staying here any longer.”
“But he is of the Guardians….”
“And they are not my sworn enemy. Now leave them be and lets get out of here.” How corny. But alas they are out of here before I’m able to finish my thought.
“Where did you come from?” I hear Prue asking Dad as he teleports in.
“Nowhere important” he answers back as the two of them enter the living room.
