more...magic storylines and less...family stuff Huh? No. Charmed needed more family stuff, more specifically sisterly stuff. From seasons 5-8 we had very little actual sister scenes. Therefore: Charmed needed more sister scenes and less...fairytale crap!

Thank you. Also, more true drama with that special bit of Charmed humor that we saw in the early seasons and MUCH less dramedy that turned our show into a parody of itself.

Vicus is a demon who preys on witch children, who are good, in an attempt to corrupt them into evil. Paul Haas is an upper level demon who has taken a foothold in the mortal world as a real estate agent. Regarding Mr. Haas...I some how see the writers coming up with his mortal cover after they all sat around and killer off the better part of a large bottle of scotch, closely followed by ordering a pizza with everything. Marienomad, if you want a quick reference to some of the demons, and a few other things about charmed, go to the second page in the General Discussion section and check out (A Charmed FYI Center). Click onto the second link under Demons And Evil Characters. Paul Haas is not listed there but the following link will give you some information. charmed.wikia.com/wiki/Paul_HaasRemaining on topic...I agree with those who feel there should have been more focus on sisters who are witches and not the other way around. I also like the idea of more magic and less powers. I would have preferred story-lines less centered on demons and more emphasis on helping the innocents who are in danger from the regular monsters that walk our streets.

Witch children are automatically good?

Witch children are automatically good? In Charmed morality it is. Here is is. Good beings: Elves, fairies, magical creatures that lived in the magic woods, Elders, whitelighters, witches, humans. Charmed Ones Evil beings: Anything with demon blood, warlocks, Elders, witch hunters and anything that is against the Charmed Ones Also, if you are born evil, you cannot be good no matter how hard you try. Oh yeah, I also want to see more innocent saving and less demon killing.

Witch children are automatically good? Maybe it should be that they are impartial, and the demon mentioned is trying to turn them bad, while their family, in the case of Wyatt, was trying to turn him good. I don't believe kids are born either way, although their childlike innocence makes it easier to see them as good.

Thank you Marienomad for your answer. I wasn't sure how to respond to LJones, and you covered it nicely...in the Charmed realm. Since my description was taken directly from the net, I honestly couldn't argue it one way or the other. But I will say that I took it to mean (good witch children, specifically). If the child was the off-spring of a bad witch his services would not be needed, and in the charmed world I thought they were referred to as warlocks.
I completely agree with Dylan's above statement. Children are not born good or bad, but I found something else that might explain away his focus. "Little is known of VICUS except that he is a demon who preys on magical children, turning them down the path of evil. He can cloak himself and become invisible to everyone but his victims."
Since this bit of information does not zero in on witches, all children of magical heritage would appear to be targets. I would gather that he would know in which direction the child was destine to take, and he would then move in on the ones who would grow to be on the side of good. An enemy to his kind, so to speak. And interesting note: A friend of mine had a book on demonology and there was a demon the prayed on children. Unlike Vicus it was not attractive and was only about the size of a 5 year old.
Blessings to the both of you for your responses.

I would have to disagree with the original statement that started this thread. I would say that one of the many things that 'Charmed' did well over 8 years was balancing the elements of family and magic. There will always be those who wish there was more magic or more of a family element, but in my opinion, it was balanced enough to enchant us as viewers AND (more importantly), make it exciting for the viewer to watch over and over. As I am typing this, I even remember an 'Entertainment Weekly' review of the entire series; they said something very similar to the fact that 'Charmed' was one of those shows that you can enjoy the 20th time around. In addition to everything, I have a feeling that if the balance of magic and family was disturbed, the actors would have questioned the material and it would have ended the show as a result. For example, Holly always said in many interviews about the show that her and the others never took themselves too seriously and that the 'magic' element never seemed to be the essence of the show for her. Holly truly believed in the family aspect of the show and (in her opinion), it motivated the actions of the sisters in the magical situations. Bottom line: Balance was pretty good overall. I do remember that the balance was messed with a few times and the result was some of our least-favorite episodes.

You're right--it was. But the family that the last three seasons concentrated on was Piper's, so naturally Holly felt that way--her family was the star.
A lot of fans wanted it to concentrate on the sisterS, not just one.
In the last three seasons, I wanted a LOT LESS Piper's family (especially Wyatt and Chris) and a LOT MORE Piper, Phoebe and Paige!

There is a good balance of magic and family. I'm not complaining about that. I don't like the type of magic like those magical creatures. I never get them.

The show had a decent balance of family and magic. Unfortunately, I ended up becoming disenchanted with the show's portrayal of both magic and the famly.

As in, half of the show centered around magic and the other half around family? Yeah, it did that. But when magic became silly and the element of sisterhood was lost, in my opinion the quality of both those halves went way down.
