Do any members out there watch this? I generally do not, but my sister is into it so sometimes I join her. Personally I am more the Criminal Minds type. At first I enjoyed it as I like musicals and stage productions....but, with what just happened I think I have had enough. Kelly is very sweet and I really was pleased to see how she grew and progressed, but if I was looking for new talent, and someone who wasn't going to cry her way to the top, my spider sense tells me I should consider Joanna over Kelly. Also, I don't think Mya should have been a contestant as she has too much experience to be considered an armature.

I've watched this since the second season (I saw the first season via a marathon on one of the cable stations) and have enjoyed it a lot.
Keep in mind that the "stars" can have dancing abilities; they just can't be professional ballroom dancers like their partners. No doubt that the athletes (like Kristy Yamaguchi and Shawn Johnson) and the true performers like Mya and Donny Osmond have the advantage over the ones who don't--the ones I enjoy the most are the ones who don't, like Kelly, but as the champion I want someone who can perform, and I was happy when Donny won, although for the first time, I would've been happy if any of the final three had. And this season's finale was the very best of any; I thoroughly enjoyed it.
It's the old famous "different strokes for different folks".

Sorry I didn't respond to this sooner...I sort of forgot about it and haven't been over here for a while.
I didn't know about the above. I'm new to the show and didn't know the rules. Since some do have experience and others appear to be like me...2.5 left feet...(sober), I was confused as to how they select the contestants. I guess I thought it a tad bit unfair...but I do enjoy the show. It's fun and gutsy, as I would never do something like that. For Shannen fans, this might be a news flash....she was asked to be a contestant but turned it down. She said that thought she is a good dancer, being on the show is rather different from working on a film or television show. If you make a mistake you get a do over. Not so on dancing with the Stars....

Not so on dancing with the Stars.... I really don't know how they decide who they are going to choose and who they don't, just that they have to be a "star", although I don't know if any HUGE star has actually been on the show for the reasons Shannen mentioned. I'm sure a lot of them do it for the exposure, some for the challenge and some for the fun. I just know it's one of my own favorite guilty pleasures.
