I can't believe I have never noticed this before. The Seer wasn't out to get Phoebe's baby's powers in order to rule the Underworld for herself, her ultimate goal was to turn TCO into the selfish, whiney, unitelligent people they became in later seasons.
You see, the Seer had a vision where she saw TCO doing many great things and saving many innocents and becoming the greatest force of good ever known. Being evil and all she couldn't let that happen so she went after the most vunerable sister first.
She manipulated Phoebe into picking Cole over her sisters when he became the Source thus ensuring that Phoebe would become PhoeME and think about herself before her sister an innocents. She made sure Cole became the Source so Phoebe would not try to find a long term relationship and get with every guy she meets thus ensuring her evolution into Freebie.
Turning Phoebe into Queen of the Underworld was how she got at Piper. She knew after Prue died Piper had to take the burden of being the oldest and Piper felt like everything was agains't her. Making her sister turn evil and made Piper feel even worse about herself, slowly degrading her into the whiney, self-centered person she was in later seasons.
As for Paige, she made sure with Phoebe evil and Piper feeling sorry for herself, Paige had to take the role of innocent saver. She knew if Paige had to stop the demons by herself she would get pulled more into the magical world and eventually that made Paige quit her social worker job. With her taking up magic, her IQ points slowly dropped and got herself and her sisters in trouble a lot.
You see, the Seer was doing more damage than we initially thought. TCO may of vanquished her, but her ultimate goal was completed, to destroy our beloved Charmed Ones, and to destroy our beloved show.

I can't say that I don't agree with you.
With this new comic series, I hope that some things can be redeemed.

Maybe in the comic book series they'll go back in time and stop The Seer's awful plan and then we'd get the sisters we loved in the earlier seasons back??
I doubt it, but we can hope...

And I had to find this original thread since Es quoted it at the other thread.
It's a great way of looking at things, which just adds to the fact that the Seer is the best villain on Charmed since going by this theory, she didn't fail and her death only helped the Charmed Ones not realise the long-term impact she had already had on their lives.

It's just too bad that Phoebe couldn't have had a similar premonition of the Seer doing this, so TCO could've stopped her.
Like others, in the finale, I would've liked to have seen them go back in time and stop this travesty - again showing why Phoebe's power of premonition, when used properly, is the most important power, even if it's non-active - part of what truly makes TCO the Charmed Ones.

Holy cow, that is actually so on point. I'd like to add to it by saying that Phoebe not only chose Cole over her sisters, she stopped Cole from choosing her over evil. Which is precisely what the Seer wanted to see happen. (no pun intended) And, as mentioned in another thread, Phoebe was never able to accept the fact that, manipulated by the Seer/Cole/Source or not, she herself made that choice. She blamed Cole up and down in season 5, eventually convincing herself that he was the source of everything that had ever been wrong with her life, to the point that she literally felt nothing except "Hooray, I'm free to frolic again!" when he was vanquished. From there, she started going after every mortal man in San Francisco, thinking just because they weren't demonic they'd be everything she wanted. Completely overlooking the fact that it wasn't just Cole who crushed her; they BOTH destroyed the other, and the Seer was the one who ultimately put that orchestra in motion. As far as Piper goes, she was thrust into the leadership position, suddenly having to replace Prue, who she's always looked up to, then before long everything started falling apart with Source!Cole and Phoebe's heel turn. She probably became desperate to a fault to gain more control of her life from that point on after being rendered almost powerless. Hence the only reason she would even THINK to try to expel Leo from both her life and Wyatt's once he became an Elder; his "promotion" undermined her sphere of control over her life in a way she couldn't handle. Everything was "normal life", "normal life", "normal life", thinking obviously that, since it was demons that killed Prue and turned Phoebe, a life with no demons meant a life with no uneasy problems she couldn't manage in 30 seconds. This is made clear in season 8, which begins with the sisters and Leo all presumed dead and wearing other people's faces in glamour. "Malice in Wonderland" in particular has her go from calling a family meeting to manage the sisters' various issues by telling them to put things in perspective because no demons are around anymore, to burying herself in her own bed and having an existential crisis because she had to leave the sauna because Leo and Wyatt accidentally locked themselves out of the house. She's that deluded and obsessed about being in total control of things, and it all started because the Seer took her sense of security away from her when she used the Source to draw Cole back to evil and have Phoebe join him while Piper was still adjusting to taking the lead in life after Prue. The only part I'm sorta confused about is how Paige's IQ points would drop just from "taking up magic", but I'm guessing that's all down to the wording. I think a more accurate way of putting it would be that she got more tunnel vision about vanquishing demons. She goes out of her way to attack Cole when he's at his lowest point because she thinks Phoebe needs that to be free of him, and practices her plan to do this on Leo beforehand, risking Leo's life for NO GOOD REASON just to test out a theory. She then becomes the equivalent of Athena with Poseidon's trident in "Oh My Goddess" and is later responsible for glamouring a robber into a demon target as opposed to just orbing away his gun and calling the cops. That said, the whole Source!Cole fiasco probably made her feel more than ever like she had to be the one to pick up the slack, which wound up causing her decay. Was this "in-depth analysis" necessary? Probably not. In fact I'd venture a guess that it's probably superfluous to the point. Which is that SEERofCHAOS actually hit right at what was probably the turning point in-universe for everything that went wrong. This is probably gonna have to be addressed in a project at some point.

Well having just read it myself I do agree with what SEERofCHAOS said which's such a shame 'cause although the Seer was a great character I thought this theory makes me think her been on the show then did destroy what bits I loved best about the CO's seasons 1-3 making me feel sometimes I wished she'd never appeared on there or as Es said would've liked the sisters to have gone back through time and fixed it then.

Lol its a fun theory for those who don't like the later seasons. The only reason I was mad at later seasons because Paige should have remained a social worker.

Lol its a fun theory for those who don't like the later seasons. The only reason I was mad at later seasons because Paige should have remained a social worker. So was I. I found it so random and off that she quit. Another way they dumped anything that had to do with her life pre meeting her sisters. I really think her job as a social worker was my favorite from any of the sisters jobs. I wonder if it was a budget reason for sets. No way Alyssa was giving up the Bay Mirror. LOL
