It turns out that the number 13 IS a very unlucky number. On Friday the 13th at 13:13 hours, a 13 year old boy in the UK was struck by lightning at an airshow. I think maybe it might depend on where you live. Here in the United States it seems to be a big deal. I worked in San Francisco a number of years ago and my office was on the 35 floor. One day I noticed there was no 13 floor. The strange thing is that the elevator took longer to get from the 12th floor to the 14th. One day when I went out for lunch I looked up and started to count the floors. I saw that from the 12th to the 14th there was no windows in between. This meant that there was floor but not offices were there. I questioned a guard and he told me that there was indeed a 13 floor but it was used for electrical equipment. So the truth is that all buildings over 14 stories have a 13 floor but we use it for something else and don't talk about it. But like I said it depends on where you live. In some countries the number 14 is considered unlucky. As for me, I don't believe in luck...to risky....

At my old job, we got paid on the 1st and the 15th. If one of those days were on a weekend, we'd get paid the previous Friday. So Friday the 13ths were always payday! I had a two-level apartment once that was my favorite of all the apartments I've had. The apartment number was 1313. Yup, it was on the 13th and 12th floors. Some of my favorite sports players have worn the number 13. I think a lot of it depends upon you. If you're nervous about 13, then it becomes unlucky for you. If you're not; it's no big deal. It's all about the power of the mind. |

13 has always been my number and the one day I wasn't able to wear the number 13 for a uni basketball game was the one time that our team lost when I had played. No joke. I t could have been that I wasn't so sure about playing in a number I wasn't used to.
However, a street that I used to live on and other streets around it didn't have a house number 13. The odd side jumped from 11 to 15. Yet when I lived in university halls, I was in a tower block and that did have a floor 13. I think it depends on the constructor at the time and how they feel about the number.
