I'd say what made it so complicated was that they had to convince her not to be such a diva...  I don't get why getting the other actresses likenesses was made to seem simple, but Shannen's isn't? To me that indicates that she truly wants nothing to do with the show... which sucks, as she has a legion of loyal Prue-fans. So what if she doesn't? Big deal. Why are you so upset about it that you have to personally insult Shannen Doherty? |

I don't really think I insulted her. The emoticon implies I was saying it in jest anyway.
More to the point: I'm annoyed because I'd've thought that after 10 years she might be willing for the comic just to use her general likeness, so the loyal fans can finally see the Prue they adore finally return to the show. It's not as if people are quiet about their appreciation for Shannen's work as Prue, so I just don't understand.
In all fairness it might not be her decision, but I personally think it is. I just don't get it. She might have her reasons, but I would've thought that after such a long time she might've been more willing to collaborate with the show.

Again - no one has said that it's actually Shannen who is not allowing her image to be used. It does sound like it's something totally different.
I remember hearing about Constance Burge suing CBS for something to do with Charmed and if it's CBS, that's either the DVDs or the comics. Whatever that was about could very well also have something to do with using Shannen's image - *or* for just using Prue looking like Prue, not necessarily looking like Shannen Doherty.
Because we haven't been given specifics (which to me means it's something much more legal and complicated than Shannon just saying yes or no), I don't think we should jump to conclusions - not until we specifically hear that Shannen has said no. She allowed her image to be used on the DVDs for S1-3 (and it wasn't her that held that up; it was getting the rights for using all of the groups who appeared at P3) - this should be no different, so I truly don't think this has anything to do with her.
Joshingabout, you *might* owe Shannen an apology for jumping to conclusions...

On September 4th shortly after the interview with Paul Ruditis in which this news was given, the following tweets were posted between a fan and Holly Marie Combs: Phoebe1_: @hdonoho Hi Holly. Just read that Shannen won't give permission to Zenescope to use her likeness on the comics. So disappointing. : (
HDonoho: phoebe1_ Really? That seems odd. I don't know why she wouldn't. Of course we don't know if this is a subject Holly and Shannen have discussed, but Holly is in frequent contact with Shannen, so at the very least she's in a better place to know than others. |

Does it really matter whether she gave her permission to use her image or not for the comics? We haven't seen Shannen's image in anything related to "CHARMED" since 2001. And now you want to complain and call her names, because she MAY have declined to give them permission to use her image . . . even when the comics are mainly a continuation of the series, with Piper, Phoebe and Paige as the main characters?
Whether she gives permission on whether or not to use her image is up to Shannen. If you don't like the decision she has made, perhaps one should just suck it up and deal with it. What else is there to do?

Personally I hope someone tweets that to Holly. I would love to know her reaction to it.
IF it's true (I've long since learned how to recognize and ignore executive producers' spin, which is what the editorial thing is -whether it's true, I'll always count it as guilty until proven innocent by an outside source like Holly), I'll admit I'd be disappointed since I love Prue and would love her looking like Prue. But if Shannen is afraid her image will be messed up the way the other three have often been messed up, I can't say I blame her.
I remember Holly wanting to know where Piper got those boobs. Maybe Shannen is afraid of something similar.

Seriously ljones, calm down. I just cited a quote. You're making it sound like I'm bombarding Shannen with insults left, right and centre and constantly moaning that Prue won't look like her. I'm not. I stated my disappointment and gave something to back up my position.
While I am still disappointed that she won't be a part of Charmed Season 9, I'm interested in the way in which Paul Ruditis will spin the story that would allow Prue's return with another image. It let's him explore the Charmed mythos a bit and allows him to create more interesting storylines, such as this of Prue's return. So it's not a great loss that Shannen isn't involved.
If it turns out that Shannen herself didn't stop her image from being used, but say her agent did, then I'll retract my earlier disappointment. But until then I'm allowed to have my current opinion.
