Since I've completed the first season of Progeny: Angels and Demons, I've decided to share the first two episodes here. I think these are perfect as a standalone TV movie left open for a spin-off.

Series Premiere

STOCK FOOTAGE: San Francisco during the day, starting with The Golden Gate Bridge. SUPERIMPOSED beneath the Bridge is “SEPTEMBER, 2031” The stock footage continues to show familiar sites of San Francisco, ending with P3.


EXT. P3 - DAY

The CAMERA FOCUSES on the sign hung on a door: CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE, then PANS to the right to show the building next to P3 - Piper Halliwell's restaurant, P4. Despite it being day, the lights inside the restaurant are off and there's a wreath hung on the door. The CAMERA FOCUSES on the sign hung on the door: CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

CUT TO:

INT. P4 – OFFICE

Christopher (CHRIS) Halliwell [26] is sitting at the desk, going through some paperwork. With a tired sigh he rubs his eyes. He opens a drawer and takes out a framed picture.

CHRIS' POV: A picture of him as a child with Piper, one of the pictures we saw on the wall during “Forever Charmed”, the finale of the parent show, Charmed.

Chris reaches out to touch the picture of his mother's face. Again he sighs.

CHRIS:
(to the picture)
I always knew I'd take over the family restaurant someday, Mom. I think I knew it when you first brought me here and put me in my playpen here in the office. But I never dreamed it would be so soon. And somehow I always thought you'd be here to help.

Even as Chris continues talking, the CAMERA PANS to the door. The door slowly opens and DANA Marshall [looks early 20s] enters. Dana watches Chris for a few minutes, her eyes full of sympathy.

CHRIS (cont, o.s.):
And I just feel so alone, Mom. Dad's here, but this is hard on him, very hard. He can hardly do a thing, hardly say a word. He doesn't do much but try to straighten out P3. We’ve closed the club and the restaurant for awhile while we’re trying to, well, adjust, and that means a lot of work, as you would know. As you also know, that’s keeping him busy. Wyatt is still trying to find the demon who, who, well, you know.

And Pru? If Patti hadn't talked to Aunt Phoebs, we'd have no idea how Pru is doing - she went back to school as soon as everything was over and won't take any of our calls.

Dana quietly closes the door.

DANA:
(gently)
You're not alone, Chris. I'm here.

The CAMERA PANS back to Chris, who looks up, a smile on his face that doesn't quite reach his eyes.

CHRIS:
No, I'm not. Thank you so much for coming - it's as if you knew I needed you.

Chris stands up and goes over to Dana. Chris hugs her and kisses her. Dana holds him tightly. Chris lays his head on her shoulder. Chris looks like he wants to break down, but won't quite let himself do it.

DANA:
Chris, I'm sorry, but there's another reason why I came here.

CHRIS:
(sighing, saying the word like it's something sour)
The Elders?

DANA:
Sort of. They know who the demon was who, who....

Dana doesn't have to say anything else.

CHRIS:
Have you told Wyatt?

DANA:
Not yet. I came to you first.

Chris nods.

DANA (cont.):
But I am trusting you to go to Wyatt for help. This demon is strong.

CHRIS:
Tell me about him.

DISSOLVE TO:

STOCK FOOTAGE: San Francisco Memorial Hospital during the day

INT. HOSPITAL – WAITING ROOM

A couple [MR. AND MRS. WINTERS] are sitting nervously on the chairs. WYATT Halliwell [28] enters, dressed in scrubs. There are four INTERNS standing behind him.

WYATT:
Mr. and Mrs. Winters?

The Winterses look up at Wyatt. Mr. Winters jumps straight to his feet and makes his way to stand in front of Wyatt. Mrs. Winters nervously stands up and stands behind Mr. Winters.

MR. WINTERS:
How is she?

WYATT:
I’m glad to say that your daughter’s surgery went well.

MRS. WINTERS:
Thank you, Doctor! Can we see her?

WYATT:
Yes, of course, although she may still be asleep. She’s back in her room.

MR. WINTERS:
Thank you, Dr. Halliwell.

Mr. Winters shakes Wyatt’s hand. Wyatt smiles as he watches the two walk down the corridor, although his smile is sad. Wyatt turns around to face the interns.

WYATT:
I’ve got some personal things to take care of. Go and see Dr. Bailey. She said she will find you something to do this morning.

The interns nod and disperse. Wyatt sighs as he rubs his eyes – similar to the way Chris rubbed his in the previous scene. EBONY West [25] enters behind Wyatt, a chart in her hand.

EBONY:
(professionally)
Dr. Halliwell.

Wyatt turns around. Ebony’s professional look turns into one of concern.

EBONY:
Wy? Is everything okay? You look tired.

WYATT:
I just need a few minutes.

EBONY:
It's only been a week. Maybe you should take more time off.

WYATT:
(forcefully)
I don’t need any more time off!

Ebony is taken aback by Wyatt’s words. Wyatt sighs with an apologetic look.

WYATT:
I’m sorry, Ebi. I just don't get it. Why? Why can I save everyone, everyone except...

EBONY:
(sympathetically)
Except your mom.

Ebony reaches out and takes Wyatt’s hands.

EBONY:
You’re not on your own, Wy.

WYATT:
Yeah, I know.

Wyatt looks deep into Ebony's eyes.

WYATT:
Thank you so much for being here, Ebi. I don't know what I would've done without you. I need you so much.

Ebony smiles sweetly.

EBONY:
The same way I needed you when my parents died. That's how I know how hard this is for you.

Wyatt takes a deep breath and then takes his hands away from Ebony's.

WYATT:
If you don’t mind, I’m gonna take a few minutes for myself before my next surgery.

EBONY:
See you for dinner tonight?

WYATT:
Of course. I’ll see you later, Ebi.

Ebony nods as Wyatt walks away. Ebony watches him leave, the sweet look in her eyes turning into an evil glint.

EBONY:
So you need me, Twice Blessed. Just the way my father planned it.

OFF her evil look:

BLACK OUT.

Act One

STOCK FOOTAGE: Clips of Miami, Florida during the day, ending with a bird's eye view of the college.

EXT. MIAMI DADE COLLEGE - QUAD - BIRD'S EYE VIEW - DAY

There are STUDENTS walking in all different directions. Some are in large groups, others in small groups. The CAMERA ZOOMS IN to FOCUS on one building.

CUT TO:

EXT. COLLEGE BUILDING – DOORWAY

Prudence (PRU) Melinda Halliwell [21] and Patricia (PATTI) Grace Hart [21] exit the building with other STUDENTS around them. As the other students scatter, Pru and Patti walk towards us.

PATTI:
(worried)
Pru, are you okay? You were falling asleep in there.

Pru shrugs.

PRU:
I just haven’t had that much sleep; that’s all.

Patti looks at Pru and then sighs. She looks away and shakes her head. Pru glares back.

PRU:
What?

Patti shrugs.

PATTI:
Nothing.

Pru rolls her eyes.

PRU:
Go on. Just say it.

Patti decides to ignore Pru and keeps on walking.

PRU:
Go on, Patti. Say whatever you want.

PATTI:
I promised I’d meet Holly for…

Pru pulls Patti’s arm to stop her from walking. Patti sighs and looks to the ground. Pru frowns.

PRU:
Whatever it is you want to say to me, Gracie, just do it. Since when have you stopped talking to me?

PATTI:
Since my mom calls me so that your dad can find out how you are.

PRU:
What?

PATTI:
Meli, it's true. My mom calls every night, and every night she asks how you are. And every night I tell her you’re fine because I don’t want to worry your dad.

PRU:
And?

PATTI:
It’s all a lie, Meli. You’re not fine and you know you're not.

PRU:
No, that's the lie. I'm fine. Why wouldn't I be?

Pru shrugs.

PRU:
So my mom died. She died fighting a demon, something that we knew could happen since we were just little kids and first found out our moms were Charmed. We always knew something like this would happen and now it has. It just happened to be my mom who it happened to, but it's no big deal. I’m fine, Patti; I'm really fine! Now consider this subject closed!

Pru marches away angrily, leaving Patti standing in shock.

PATTI'S POV: Pru stalking towards a corner of the building.

PATTI (o.s.):
(sadly)
No, Meli, you're not. How can you be? And if you could only admit it - if you could only grieve - then maybe you could start to heal.

We follow Pru as she rounds the corner of the building. Once she knows she's out of Patti's sight, Pru stops and takes a deep breath. She closes her eyes and takes another deep breath.

CUT TO:
BLACK AND WHITE

INT. HALLIWELL MANOR - KITCHEN

PIPER Halliwell [57] is stirring the boiling liquid in the large pan on the stove. PRU enters from the basement, dressed in her sweats and looking as if she has been working out. Piper looks at her.

PIPER:
How was your workout?

PRU:
Good. I’m gonna miss it when I go back to college.

PIPER:
I do keep saying you can come home whenever you want.

Pru rolls her eyes.

PIPER (cont):
Anyway, why don’t you come over here and help me with this?

Pru rolls her eyes again.

PRU:
Since when do you need help with anything, Mom?

Pru sighs and then walks to her mom’s side and looks into the pot. Pru raises her eyebrows and looks at Piper.

PRU:
A potion? Why are you making a potion? You know demons aren’t gonna come back and try to kill you all of a sudden.

Piper shrugs.

PIPER:
It’s not for that. Can't I just stock up on some useful potions? Like that teleportation one you like so much?

Pru rolls her eyes again.

PIPER (cont.):
You know that you’re going to have to be the one who does this someday.

PRU:
(angry, frustrated)
Mom! Not this again! I know how to cook, okay? You’ve taught me since I was old enough to handle a pan of boiling water! But that isn’t something that I wanna do with my life. I know you'd prefer me being a cook, but I wanna be a journalist. Can't you support me just once in my life?

PIPER:
(smiling to herself, not really listening)
I used to love to cook with your great-grandmother. It made us feel very close.

PRU:
(even more frustrated)
And I love cooking with you - it always makes me feel close to you. But it's not what I wanna do with my life. I don’t wanna be doing this every minute of my life. I enjoy cooking, yes, but that’s because I do it when I wanna. You can keep saying that when you were my age all you ever dreamed of was owning your own restaurant, but I’m not you.

Piper stops stirring and turns to face Pru, now beginning to get angry.

PIPER:
But what about the family? The restaurant and P3 have always been part of this family and it's always been my dream to pass them down to my children, so they could continue the tradition.

PRU:
Well, you're not gonna die any time soon so maybe one of my kids or one of Wyatt's or Chris' kids will wanna be part of the family business, maybe even one of my grandkids, but not me!

PIPER:
But your brothers...

Pru rolls her eyes.

PRU:
I know, I know. Wyatt's a doctor just like Dad used to be and Chris wants to manage P3 someday. But that's because Wyatt loves being a doctor and Chris has always wanted to manage a business. I don't love to cook, okay? And I don't wanna manage a restaurant, okay? Look. I've worked for you in that restaurant longer than I can remember. It helped me get my job at Trick's. But it's not what I want to do with my life!

PIPER:
(begging)
Pru, you're my only daughter! You were named after my sister, my best friend...

Pru has heard this one time too many and now she snaps.

PRU:
But I'm not you and I'm not her! I'm me, Prudence Melinda Halliwell, and I like being me, a cheerleading mechanic who is gonna to be a world-famous journalist who travels all around the world! And if you can’t accept that, well then you can just go to hell!

Pru storms out of the kitchen. We follow her out the door as Piper's voice floats back to her and us.

PIPER (o.s.):
(heart-broken)
Pru....

CUT TO:
FULL COLOR

EXT. COLLEGE BUILDING - CONTINUOUS

Pru leans against the wall, a tear rolling down her cheek.

DISSOLVE TO:

INT. UNDERWORLD – THEO’S LAIR

THEO, a large demon dressed in a black cloak is standing in front of DAMIEN West [26], who is also dressed in black. They speak very formally - there is grudging respect, but no love.

THEO:
Your sister is well on her way with her part of the plan. Now it is time for you to do your job.

DAMIEN:
Father, the Charmed One is dead. My part--

THEO:
(interrupting)
--is not completely finished. There are still three sisters descended from that damned Melinda Warren who can access The Power of Three and become the third set of Charmed Ones. We need that threat eliminated.

DAMIEN:
Shall I use the same demon?

Theo considers it and then nods.

THEO:
Yes, that demon. He was good, a very good choice, Damien. I am proud of you.

Damien nods with a pleased smile.

DAMIEN:
Thank you, Father.

THEO:
When your time comes, you will make a strong and formidable Source.

Damien bows his head with both respect and pleasure – there is no greater compliment that his father can give him.

DAMIEN:
Father, with your permission, I have a demon to find.

THEO:
Yes, my son. Go.

Damien BLINKS out. KARTOS, a human-looking demon with a tribal mark on his right arm, SHIMMERS IN. Kartos sees Theo and bows his head.

KARTOS:
My liege, you sent for me?

THEO:
Yes. I need you to check on my daughter. I need you to make sure that everything is going according to plan. I know I sent you two weeks ago, but now is more important since it is time to send demons to kill one of the never-to-be third set of Charmed Ones.

BLACK OUT.
