Would anyone be interested in joining in a graphics competition on this forum? Or if you wouldn't want to make any graphics, would you like to help run the comp?
Since there are so many great artistic people on this forum now I thought it may be a fun idea. There could be different rounds where you would have to make a banner, avatar, wallpaper, blend, etc. so that it's more interesting. Or there could be themed rounds? And then each round the person who's work has been voted for the least times could be eliminated until there's one winner.
What do you all think?

I really don't have the time to help run it, but I would be interested in competing. This could give me a great opportunity to see what I can do under a deadline, and show others what I can do as well.
Count me in.

I'm happy people are interested in this! Do any of you have ideas for the types of graphics that could be made in the different rounds? I was thinking a banner & avatar set, a wallpaper, a manipulation, an animated banner... Any more?

I'm not the one to create the sigs, wallpaper, etc...but I think this is a great idea! I would love to vote if anything, and check out what all you artists can create!

How many judges do you think there should be? I was thinking around 4 or 5 otherwise it could take too long for results to be announced. Or do you think it would be better to allow all members of the board to vote for their favourite but make it only worth 50% of the overall vote (with the judges' vote also = 50%) if you understand what I mean? Also, how long do you think each round should last? 2 weeks? A month? Or do you think having it too long would make people put making the graphic off and then forgetting about it?

I think it would be best to allow all of the members to vote, to make the competition more amicable to the whole cafe. It should be a group wide effort, where everyone is invited to participate in some way. It's more fun like that! The 4-5 judges counting 50%, isn't a bad idea. I also believe a round should go on for 2 weeks. A month is too long, and I know that I can get a bit impatient, if a round in a certain game takes more than a couple of weeks. But that may just be me hehe. ;D Also since I have never made a graphic, I'm not sure how long it usually takes, I guess it's pretty different for everybody...but I think that 2 weeks, would be a good amount of time.

The judging (50% from 4-5 judges, and 50% from members), and the two week time limit sounds great. It should take about that long to get any raw materials, and put together the graphics.
I definitely want to compete, but I cannot make any promises. I am about to move to the Tampa area on the 19th, and I am not sure when I'll get net access. The only thing I can do is find whatever hot spot I can find (Maybe a local Paneras) to get my stuff, and submit the final products.

True. We signed our lease yesterday, so it's official. Now I have to finish packing, clean for inspection, and get ready to move.
Like I said I'll try my best to submit stuff, but with this move (Plus the job finding) will be a bit daunting to do anything else. I know next week will be real bad timing with all the packing and moving, so I know I won't be able to do anything then.
Thanks.

Since I want to take part in this competition, I don't want to put too many ideas forward incase people think it's going to be an advantage for me but I have some ideas for what the challenges could be each round... - A colourisation/colorization
- A DVD cover
- A magazine cover
- A wallpaper/banner/avatar with a certain theme, either character/episode/emotion, etc.
- A manipulation
- Something animated
If anybody else has ideas that they haven't already suggested then feel free to post them. I'm gonna make some banners soon to advertise the competiton and try and get some more people to take part.
