No. Phoebe dying instead would've been a lot better.
Piper always kowtowed to Prue, so I don't think she would've become the same b!tchy sister (that's what Kern thought that the oldest should be like...) and would've been much more likeable. If Paige was treated as the baby like she was, she would've given in to Prue very quickly. If she was treated as the Only Child she truly was, they would've battled, and I think it would've been fun to actually see Prue back down, as I think she would've.
Piper would've accepted Paige as a sister, while Prue would've never allowed her to take the place of her baby sister, the baby sister she didn't protect.
I much would've preferred that setup than the one we got.
I'm glad Prue died because she was already turning into someone I didn't like (her pride...) and I have a hunch Kern would've ruined her even more, the way he ruined Piper and Phoebe, the main reason I wish Phoebe had been the one who died, so she could remain the Phoebs I love and not the Freebie/PhoeME she turned into.
ETA: The other main reason why I'm glad it was Prue who died is that with the closeness of Shannen and Holly, Paige would've seemed even more like the outsider than she already was, and with how much better of an actress Shannen is, Rose's horrible acting would've been even more noticeable.
How 'bout the rest of you?

I had no problems with Rose's acting in Season 4. But once the writing really started to decline in Season 5, I think she gave up on giving all her best. Her appearance on "ONCE UPON A TIME" pretty much told me that when inspired, Rose can give a first-rate performance. I can only assume that Seasons 5-8 did not inspire her.
And no . . . I don't think that Prue's death was the best thing to happen to the show.

I have to say, it was one of the best things. Maybe not the greatest, but it really did make Phoebe grow up. Since I'm completely biased toward the actresses themselves. Holly, Shannen and Paige wouldn't have worked for the simple fact that Prue would have never accepted Paige. Just talking in character, Prue is too stubborn and prideful. She would have made Paige feel stupid, and eventually with time she might have accepted the fact Phoebe was gone. She would probably continue to use Paige as the baby sister, simply because they were still the power of three. She would have despised Paige even more than she had Phoebe.
That's just my opinion, and I'm sure others' don't agree. Prue, as a character, isn't Shannen. Holly and Shannen's friendship wouldn't have mattered in-character. Rose could careless if the two of them hangout all the time. They are actresses, and I know Rose and Holly would have been professional with it. You grow bonds when you're on television shows. The main reason that Shannen was probably killed off instead of Alyssa was because losing a younger sibling wouldn't look good on television. I mean, these days no one cares. They kill off whomever they please. My personal thoughts are just the simple fact that killing of Prue was more realistic, and would cause Piper and Phoebe to grow. To become their own people.
Sure, the later years were based around Piper's power. If Prue would have stuck around it would have been the Power of Prue. Prue was all powerful in the seasons she was around. Piper could only freeze, and Phoebe with her premonitions. Their powers were rarely used while Prue was around. Simply because Prue's power was the most damaging. Either way, there is always one character more powerful than the others. Good or evil, that's just the way the cookie-crumbles.
P.S. These are my thoughts and opinions. I respect all opinions, and I require the same respect for mine. So I would appreciate no one personally attacking my thoughts and opinions. As they are mine, and they won't change no matter how much someone tries to 'out-talk' me. We don't know what would have happened, and we have no control over things. So everything any of us say, is strictly opinion.

Of course we're all entitled to our own opinions.
This is mine.
I didn't think that Phoebe grew up at all, just like Piper didn't. Both regressed and acted even more like children than they did before - both totally selfish and self-centered, both totally childish.
They may have remained the same had Prue lived, but I don't think they would've as much, because not having Prue around gave Piper an excuse to feel sorry for herself and Phoebe the excuse to have no morals at all.

The acting around that final was great and so much changed then. If Phoebe grew up because of Prue's death, I don't think so. She turned into someone else but definitely not someone her big sister would have approved of.

I don't know. I don't think Phoebe really changed until the end of season 5 and season 6. We got to see more of our Phoebe in season 7, but then season 8… I'd say Piper changed more by far, and quicker too. By the end of season 4 to season 8, Piper was what Es refers to as "Miss Whinealot".
I'm not sure what some of the best things that happened in Charmed were.. I would definitely Rank The Seer as THE BEST, however. Debbie Morgan.. flawless.

The best thing that could've happened to Charmed would've been not have Prue die and have the series end with "Witch Way Now?" In my own opinion, that would've been the best thing that could've happened to the series.
And just think - had that happened, we'd now be ready for a reboot!

Just adding that I hope that you realize that just because we disagree with your opinion doesn't mean we're attacking it. Like you, we believe that everyone is welcome to their own opinion, even when, no, especially when they don't agree with our own. If everyone agreed, the threads would be very, very short! Personally I think the series would've been much better if the word "witchlighter" had never been introduced when suddenly being part-whitelighter was more important than being Charmed. After all, Paige was much more whitelighter than witch and so were Chris and Wyatt. That's not what the show was about. Now had the series ended with "Witch Way Now?" (with Prue...) as it should've and instead they started a sequel with kids who had all of the mixed-powers, that would be different.

Her death was unnecessary if she had lived then the power of three plus paige would have vanquish all the demons and they would have finished their destiny in two years as to eight. Prue should'nt have died its stupid

For me Prue dieing was when I stopped liking Charmed as much as I used to save a few things which's why I loved seasons 1-3 the best.
Now she wasn't my favourite character as I liked all the sisters then but in terms of what the PO3 was all about, the plotlines and character personalities the none constant whining and men 'n' family except Cole and Phoebe not been the sole focus of everything was so much better than it was afterwards totally.

I had no problem with Prue facing her flaws. After three seasons, she proved to be the best developed sister of the bunch, because she was more willing to face the consequences of her mistakes and flaws than the other three.

I suspect that the series would have went downhill whether Prue had remained on the show or not.

That's why I would've wanted it to only go one more season, with most of it being Phoebe in the Underworld with Cole while Prue and Piper try to continue without her. I wouldn't even have minded if both Phoebe and Piper got pregnant during that season, as long as we never saw either child. Any kids, I'd want saved for the spin-off - and a setup like this would've given that spin-off a much better chance to succeed.

prue´s death was de best thing that could have ever happened in charmed anyone else share my feeling?? Prue Halliwell doesn't star in the shows anymore i heard she died and also died in real life is it true and how did Paige show up and did the sisters know about her? prue died on the show shannon is alive and well and it was said the paige had seen her a couple of times but did not know her In Season 3 Shax killed Prue by throwing her through the wall after she tried to save Dr.Griffith. Piper and Prue were both thrown back into the wall to save Dr. Griffith but Leo came back to save them and before that. Phoebe was in the underworld with Cole and Leo. Phoebe asked the source to call Tempus to turn back time but it was to late when they got back to save Piper and prue. Leo came back to save Piper and Prue the second time and saved Piper but not Prue because she was already dead.
