The only thing that I disagree with Paul is that he has Cole dress not in any casual clothes when we see in the tv series he can dress casual. If I'm not mistaken, Cole is always wearing the clothes that he was vanquished in - since he's still technically vanquished and isn't part of the real world like Leo (as Piper's husband as compared to Prue's go-between between the Nexus where she's trapped and the rest of the world), he hasn't had a reason to change and obviously feels more comfortable not dressing casually - I like it because it continues to show the differences between him and Leo. That could be totally different than what Pat Shand does with them, but that wouldn't surprise me one bit.

Read the latest issue; "The Four Sisters, part 2"
Um, more of the same really. I'm still not really liking the resurrection of all these old villains. Now we have Tuatha back and I don't really know why. Although at least she wasn't resurrected and vanquished again in like 5 seconds like the others have been I guess. Then there's the stuff with Benjamin. I don't know what happened there at the end. Time falling apart or something? I dunno. If Benjamin is dead, I don't see the point... it's not like I've known the character well enough or long enough to really feel anything. If Cole does indeed return, well then, um, I'm still not really seeing the point... not sure what he has to offer the story at this point.
Mostly I feel the same two things. 1) Still just kinda bored. 2) Waiting for the Charmed Ones to do something. They feel like supporting characters to me at the moment. Meanwhile all the big stuff is happening with or to the actual supporting characters.

Pat Shand brought back Tuatha?
That Old Black Magic was one of the worst episodes of the Burge era. Why in the dead gods of Krypton would Shand want to make a sequel to that? What is he smoking?
If the Charmed Ones are coming off as supporting characters in their own comic, well, one doesn't have to be a rocket scientist to see that they have some real problems here.
They should have kept Paul Ruditis.

I probably will, just so I can give them to my friend, but... This seems like Witch Trial but a whole heckova lot worse, since it's not written against the backdrop of Prue having just lost Andy. And the bit with Cole and Benjamin is just plain getting boring. How many issues do we have left? Not too many I hope.

I wasn't going to read comics and nd from what you told it was a wise choice, they are already out of ideas
Is it so difficult to create a good, new villain?
Or propose new friends, new situations?

I wasn't going to read comics and nd from what you told it was a wise choice, they are already out of ideas Is it so difficult to create a good, new villain? Or propose new friends, new situations? Difficult to create a good, new villain? No. Paul Ruditis introduced some great ones both in Season 9 and his novels, ones much better than the ones in S8. Even the one he brought back - the Source - he made totally different than what was in S4 or S8. Propose new situations, sure. Again, that's what Paul Ruditis did in Season 9 and also in his two novels. It's what hasn't happened in Season 10, except for this whole "How can we kill off Cole but then bring him back to life in some new way - I know, let's put his dead Dad inside Cole's body" or "How can we break up the only couples we liked in S9 - Paige & Henry and Phoebe & Coop - while going back to making Piper & Leo seem like the perfect couple when S8 showed that they were anything but except in the flashforward which I will never count as real?" Boring. Propose new friends, no, thanks. They always become Mary Sues or Gary Stus who overshadow the main characters, the sisters. Think Wyatt, Chris, Billie and Christy. If they were going to do a spin-off, that would be fine, but that's not what the comics are about. And that's what Tyler and his friends and Benjamin and even Kyra have turned into in Season 10, part of why Season 10 is so boring. Perhaps Season 10 should've become a spin-off while just letting Paul Ruditis continue Season 9 in the e-books. Unfortunately, that's not what happened. From what I've read, it sounds like the fans wanted familiar characters back in S10 and that's what they got. Just like the fans wanting to meet the magical community in S5 or were so happy when Charmed continued into S8, it's the infamous "Be careful of what you wish for; you might get it." I'd love to know what Pat Shand would've done had he not had that mandate just like wondering what Brad Kern would've done if The WB didn't tell him they wanted Charmed to save their dying network by selling sex. But I'm sure that's something we'll never know.

I think this season is going to be a bit shorter, with 22 issues. So we have seven issues left.

And I wonder if this will be the end of the comics. Considering the negative reviews of Shand butchering Charmed even worst than Kern ever did, I wouldn't be surprised if the comics got cancelled.
Shand better star FAR away from Rex and Hannah. I would hate to see how he would butcher them, like he butchered Cole. Yeah, yeah, I know the comics are not canon, but the thought of people out there seeing Shand butcher two characters I've more or less adopted makes my blood boil.

From what Pat has said, a season 11 is incredibly unlikely. The sales apparently aren't great and Pat has stated that he's approaching it as a "series" finale.

I guess that means R&H are safe from Shand's clutches.
Aw well, I wonder if that means the e-books will discard the comics continuity and just go on alone.

I'd think that if it wasn't for the e-books. Much as I love the e-books, if you ignore them, you have what is now my head-canon as the series finale rather than the flashforward at the end of Forever Charmed. Just like that, unless they *really* do something wonderful in those final 7 issues, Season 10 is Phoebe's fantasy the way the flashforward is Piper's.

Did anything in Season 10 make any sense so far? The first arc (10x01- 10x05) was okay in my opinion. Not great, but there was at least enough build up and tension that I was fairly entertained. I also quite enjoyed 10x06, the Phoebe one shot. After that, I honestly haven't enjoyed it much at all. 10x07 was also a one shot, but I hated how the characters were written. After that it all blurs into one for me, up to where we are now. I used to look forward to my issue each month, but now I don't even blink when I miss an issue.

Yeah, I got #15 yesterday and my reaction towards it is reminding me a lot of S6-8 - reading them because that's what I do, the way continuing to watch Charmed even when I no longer liked it was what I did. It's a shame. The battle vs Heremes, the Old One who *might* be all of these old bad guys, *could* be interesting. But what he's doing with Cole/Belthazor/Ben/Coop and Phoebe - doing what Phole fans want, proving that theirs is the eternal love of the series - along with what he's doing with Paige and Henry - *and* what he's doing with Tyler and his friends - *and* what he's doing with Prue, doing what a lot of fans want in turning her into the ultimate bad guy - no, I can't enjoy it, just like I couldn't enjoy S6-8 when I couldn't stand Piper, Leo and Phoebe. Now once the whole thing is over and we find out exactly what's been going on and if I find out that I'm wrong about all of this, that would be totally different, and there's still a very small part of me that thinks that might be true. I'll be very glad when the thing is over even as I'm disappointed that we won't have something new to discuss. P3Nathan, once it's actually over so we know exactly what we have on our hands, and once you're done with S8, any way that you might be able to review S10? It would let others know what has been happening in the comics, besides give us another great laugh like you've been giving us for S6-8.

I may review the comics along side my season one re-watch. It'll be easier to do both at the same time since reviewing the issues won't take as much time.

Oh, yes, that would a lot easier - and doing Season One along with Season Nine will give us a breather after the yuck of S6-8 and before the yuck of S10 besides letting those who haven't read the comics know what it was about.
