One thing I forgot to mention about the latest issue.
Prue's reason for putting Benjamin in Cole's body. I believe her excuse was that it was because Cole died recently whereas Benjamin had been dead a long time. I don't know if we're supposed to take it as Prue lying to hide an ulterior motive, but if not, that's a really weak excuse. It's already been established that Prue can pretty much do whatever magic she wants and we saw her pull Kyra's body through time, so I'm not buying that explanation. But as I said, perhaps she's hiding the real reason. Although with the way the issue ended, I don't know what the hell is happening with Benjamin now anyway.

I guess we'll have to wait for the next issue to find out. Although someone told me that it's awful similar to what happened to Cole when he died, so I'm going to guess that Ben's gone bye-bye, too. What a total waste of a possible great storyline! Just like the way they wasted the chance to do more with Paige's alcoholism and all sorts of stuff like that. It's another one of many reasons why I just don't like S10 and really wish the next issue: "Happy Endings" was the last issue and this would be done and over with, but we still have to put up with seven more issues after that, with the last one called "The Reason"...maybe Pat Shand has been playing with us all this time and once I discover this so-called reason, I'll be able to go back and look over everything, realize what was going on and actually like the thing.... NOT!!!!!!

They should just put these comics out of their misery and be done with it.

This was another opportunity that Pat Shand p*ssed away. Why didn't he run with this idea?
Did he really think that fans wanted more rubbish Phoebe/Cole stuff? That story ended a long time ago.

Still think killing Cole was a waste. Still think Paul Ruditis bringing Cole back in S9 was a waste. He should've never been part of the comics, setting up something this bad.

They should just put these comics out of their misery and be done with it. Never thought I'd be relieved to hear that sales are weak. Plus I believe Zenescope has recently cancelled some comics due to low sales, so it's looking even less likely now that Charmed will get a season 11. I'm glad there at least seems to be an end in sight. Especially after reading some of the latest discussions about the Buffy comics. It sounds horrendous and many of the fans even admit as much, but they're still best sellers, so they're not going anywhere anytime soon. If that was the case with Charmed, I probably wouldn't be finishing season 10, I'd just give up like I did with Buffy. ----------------------------------------------------------------- To inject a little bit of positivity into the thread (before I start my season 9 reviews anyway), I wanted to highlight and celebrate something that I think has always been great with the comics- the cover art. David Seidman has been a wonderful cover artist and has created some beautiful pieces. I'm so glad that while the interior artists have changed a lot, he has stayed on to do all the covers. To celebrate his lovely work, I've made a couple of collages of what he's done for Charmed up to now So thank you to David Seidman for some awesome pieces of art that I'm very happy to have in my collection.

Yeah, some of them are really, *really* good and others, well, not as much. But I can look over the S9 ones and pretty much remember what happened in each. Curiosity. I know I don't know the S10 covers as well as I know the S9 ones, but the last three don't look familiar at all. Are they for upcoming issues? But, yeah, unless things do change in the last 7 issues, if there is an S11 and Pat Shand is still writing them, I'm not sure I'll get them, unless someone I trust - like you, P3Nathan - gives me a reason to do so. I'm definitely looking forward to your S9 reviews at the same time you're doing your S1 ones, P3Nathan - the breath of fresh air and positivity will be a breath of fresh air, even if I admit I'll probably missing at your funny reviews knocking the bad parts of latter Charmed - but then there's S10 to look forward to... Are you going to do the Sourcebook (Issue 9.0) or is that really necessary?

Yeah, the cover art was fabulous.
Too bad that the actual comic panels often depicted the characters less accurately than a police artist sketch would.

Just as on the show, Phoebe and Cole have yet again hijacked the main storyline. Why does history keep repeating itself in the worst ways possible?

Beats the heck out of me. Shand had the whole Charmedverse to work with. Why he decided to dig up this poor dead horse is beyond me. Did he honestly think that's what the fans really wanted.
Phoebe and Cole's story is over. It's been over for a long time now. Is this ALL Shand could come up with? If that's the case, perhaps it's a good thing that the comics are ending. Pat Shand is the comics version of Brad Kern.

Pat Shand is the comics version of Brad Kern. I'm guessing Shand was one of those people who hated Phoebe ending up with Coop instead of Cole, and his comics are basically one giant Phoebe/Cole fanfic. Unfortunately for him, the Phoebe/Cole ship had already sailed LONG before Coop showed up, and at the end of the day, he's still bound by the "Forever Charmed" ending, aka. Phoebe with Coop and not Cole. Thankfully, readers don't seem to have any interest in Shand's messed up Cole fanfic, as the comic sales have been utterly tanking ever since he took over. The odds are very high that the comics will be put out of their misery.

If Shand had to bring Cole back, why didn't he do what I did. As you know, in the R&H Chronicles, Cole accepted that he and Phoebe were over and moved on with his life. I moved Cole forward.
On the other hand, Shand moved him backwards and the fans have shown that they don't like that. Hence the sinking sales of the comics. As TV Tropes would say, Nice Job Breaking It, Hero.

Don't get me wrong - I *loved* the way Paul Ruditis used Cole in S9. But I'd prefer the last we heard of Cole Turner was what happened in "Seven Year Witch" as compared to what's happening in S10. The same is true with Prue. Although I loved how Paul used her, I truly wish she had been left behind in "All Hell Breaks Loose" so we wouldn't have to put up with what Pat Shand is doing to her in S10. I much prefer what happens to them in a lot of fanfics over this.

Ladies, take comfort in these four words:
Not canon, doesn't count.
